Reading Books For Pleasure

Well, it was fetish. It's about voyeurism and exhibitionism (which is something you don't usually see in erotic romance - you usually get Dom/sub). It wasn't a serious tome in the workings of the fetish, but it was light and fun, and very erotic.

:rose:

Sounds like it could go on our nominations list then.

:rose:

I'm now reading Nightwatch by Sergei Lukyanenko. It has vampires, mages and others, oh my!

Help I'm unable to pull myself away from Sookie! I'm finished with book 7 and having withdrawals. I Think I've melted my brain, must have more mental crack...
How has everyone else's reading week been?

Yum! Those are fun books!

Have you read Kim Harrison's books or the Dresden Files? How about the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson?

I just finished Pattern Master by Octavia Butler.

:rose:

Oh I love the Dresden Files as well as Kim Harrison's books, I will have to look up the others. Yay new stuff to read! I'm such an addict, It could be worse though I could be addicted to real crack.
I have so many books now I've had to put 100 or so in storage as I have no room for them. I didn't think that would be possible a couple of years ago when I had my bookshelves built.
Hey FuryFury are your kids big readers too? So far of the 4 of mine to reach adulthood 3 of them are avid readers and the other one is a casual reader.

It could definitely go on our list. :)

I've never read the Nightwatch/ Daywatch books. I've seen the movies though and I enjoyed them. Maybe I should give them a try.

That is another series I just could not get into for some reason. Maybe I ought to give them another go?

I've just finished Promises in Death by J.D. Robb. I don't know who I adore more - Eve or Roarke...hmmm...

Now reading Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyon. And about 8 books I ordered from the library have arrived, so have to go pick those up this morning.:D

My daugther is to an extent. She's been pretty sick and busy lately so is not reading the way I do. She's inconsistent on it but generally loves books. Fantasy is her fav genre.

My son is a reluctant reader but I recently got him hooked on The Farseerer Trilogy by Robin Hobb! Hehehe! He is now starting the next trilogy that hooks up with the first.

I didn't think I would get so in to them either, They just snuck up on me. I love it when there are lots of books in a series then I can stretch my reading out for a bit longer. I used to laugh when they showed those commercials for speed reading courses, Like I need to read faster than I do now.

Oh my, they have speed reading course?! Very strange. lol

Oh I'm sorry she is not feeling well. I love Robin Hobb.
I think the kids will fight over who gets what when I die. My oldest son will want the Robert Jordan and George R.R. Martin. The youngest son will want the Mercedes Lackey, Andre Norton and Piers Antony. My Daughter will want the Kim Harrison and Charlaine Harris. They will fight over the rest. They love to raid my bookshelves, At least they have figured out not to break the spines or fold the pages.

That's very important. My daugther has her own fav authors with very little over lap with mine.

My son tastes seem closer to mine except he only likes books with male leads.

We ALL loved Ender's Game though.

:rose:

Yep the late night TV commercials used to be full of them. My problem has always been to slow my reading down. When I got married my husband tried to ration my reading every night I was so miserable he changed his mind after a month of that.

There is a new book out by Orson Scott Card, Well new last November called
Ender in Exile. I love his work but the time between books makes me a little crazy.

Gawd! I can't imagine how terrible that must have been.

BTW, I ran away when I was in high school. My grades were bad one semester. I'd been too busy socializing and such.

I was under so many restrictions that I hated such as I couldn't drive the 'stang to school but had to take the bus. I was grounded and so on and so forth. I put up with all that shit. I mean after all I'd fucked up and I knew it. I could take the consequences UNTIL they said I couldn't read for pleasure, only for school.

OH HELL NO!!!

That's when I made my plans and flew away. My dad at one time had been a private eye so I knew I had to cover a shit load of bases or they'd find me. I was ready to can my education over this. LMAO!

Eventuality they begged and tricked me back - but under my terms. I was more than fair.

You never know what that straw will be that breaks the camels back on a kid. Books were the ONE thing to rule them all. I had to have that if nothing else. MUST HAVE BOOKS!

Goodnight and sweet dreams!

:rose:

Oh yes I can see your point on that must have books! And good night to you as well I'm up for the night here the other half is rebuilding some computers, on the bed.

Pattern Master by Octavia E. Butler was not as good for me as every other book I've read by her. I think it was a bit short for one thing. This is part of a series. I plan to read the others. I'm sure the story will build.

:rose:

I just bought the book Mercy by Jodi Picoult today..Hope to start it tonight!

Well I haven't been to sleep yet we are having a no kids, no pets and no cell phone weekend. Lots of toys though.

I finished A 21st Century Courtesan by Eden Bradley. I'd be interesting to get some thoughts on it from other people. It was an interesting take, and then a lot of introspection when she finds having sex for money no longer holds the power it once did...lots of internal struggle...however, no plot to speak of. It was based around the idea that when you have nothing left to create or hide behind, you create yourself.

Sounds interesting but I'd probably find it frustrating to try to read.

I finished The Shack by William P Young. I'd love to talk about it with someone, particularly someone not religious who has read it.
