Reading Books For Pleasure

Tigana & I just ordered The Prince by Machiavelli. It seems appropriate in this political climate.

The Prince is always a good read. I also enjoy Clausewitz's On War - can be applied to political as well as military strategy.

I'm almost done with Sweet Heart by Chelsea Cain. It's fascinates me, she is more explicit in the relationship between Gretchen and Archie than Thomas Harris was (until Hannibal!) with Clarice and Hannibal. It fascinates me because I'm thrilled to learn publishers will accept relationships between ambigious characters.

Next up - I have a ton of advances reading copies of books to get through so will be reading Made to be Broken by Kelley Armstrong.

I agree about Sweetheart but I thought you had already read it?

I just finished Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler. It's pretty amazing along with the prequel. If anyone else has read these I'd love to discuss them!

The Long Fall by Walter Mosley kicks off a new series of books built around a new character. I'm still pissed off that he killed off my fav character E.Z. in such a way as he did but I love Mosley's writing.

*le sigh*

Gracie has sent me lovely vampire ebooks! I have started the Lora Leigh already.

Kewl!

I started two books today.

One is our BDSM Book of the Month book, House of Dark Delights by Louisa Burton. It's quite interesting with succubi, incubus, vampires and such. I'm not convinced there is BDSM in there but there is kinky sex for sure. It's also quite the fantasy.

However I also started a book about vampires called Nightwatch by Sergei Lukyanenko. It seems to be a really interesting take on vampires.

I'm only two chapters into both books but I'm a happy bookaholic now!

Started Heart of Stone by C.E. Murphy. I had almost forgotten about her. She wrote Urban Shaman too, a great series there. So far this one is as good as her others :)

Basically its about a girl named Margrit who is a public defender dating a cop. After a late night run in the park, a man she talked to is accused of murdering a girl and he comes to her for help. He turns out to be a gargoyle.
Its really interesting and theres more than one book in the series so yay.

ok have had a few ppl tell that stephanie meyers books are good but dont like following the hype of the movie has anyone actually read her and how did you think it was

I've read them all and her adult book The Host. I liked The Host by far, better than the Y.A. books. I had to get past the first part which is just in the alien society to the part with the opressed humans before I liked it. Then, by the end, I LOVED the book.

As for the YA vampire books. I am not a fan of most romance. I do love good vampire books. I somehow found the books compelling even though I didn't like Bella much or Edward at all. It's strange to me that I did. LOL.

Plus I'm absolutely against the idea that you MUST be married to have sex which is supposed to be one of the main ideas of the books. Still, as I said, I found the books compelling and read them all.

I read all the Twilight series and The Host. Both were good, but they obviously are aimed at different audiences. Well except the last book in the Twilight Series. It got dark. I enjoy her writing. Just depends on if you like her style and if you can get past all the 13 year olds screaming about how much they love Edward....*cringe*

I don't think I have.

She writes a hawt take on vampires. The first novel Dark Lover was a bit rough about the edges, but it has all been good since then! Here is her website: http://jrward.com/ There is lots of power exchange, but there is a bit of a twist. And the sex is hawt. They are available via ebook and audiobook as well as actual paper books.

I'm reading fire raiser by Melanie rawn. Its not out yet, its an advanced reading copy. Never read anything by her before and I'm finding it very interesting.recently read a book called voyex which was very erotic and fun.

Was the second book also BDSM-y?

Well, it was fetish. It's about voyeurism and exhibitionism (which is something you don't usually see in erotic romance - you usually get Dom/sub). It wasn't a serious tome in the workings of the fetish, but it was light and fun, and very erotic.
