Reading Books For Pleasure

A Brother's Price by Wen Spencer was an odd book. There was a role reversal where the males are rare and treasured but do mostly what is traditionally considered woman's work. The women were the soldiers and providers. I rather love that sort of thing. I'll be checking out other books by the same author for sure.

Am trying to work my way through I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

certainly qualifying as a serious read. LOL.

*shrugs*

Not my usual first pick. I ran across the top 100 challenged books a few weeks though and remembered that this one I had intended on reading at some point.

I might have to look at that list, though odds are I'll return to whatever fluff I'm reading at the moment afterwards LOL..

It is an interesting list. And just in case you weren't aware, Harry Potter is evidently more dangerous than the Anarchist's Handbook. At least that's what one could interpret from the list.

Now that, is truly creepy.. having known some idiots who had Anarchist's cookbooks.. now know as one eye'd Jack, and Lefty

I picked up 5 Greatest Warriors by Matthew Reilly today, and am dying to find out what happens to Jack!

Also bought Stephen King's newest effort. It's supposed to be a gift. I'm considering holding onto it.

I wanted to read that one; well and I forgot about it. I get exerpts of books through the mail every week and this was one of them.

Books I am listening to or reading that the moment:

White Queen by Philippa Gregory

Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett

The Chosen Series by Christina Dodd (sorry I can't remember the name)

I've got all the Discworld books that I haven't read on request at the library, but they are not having much success finding them. wtf? I'm not asking for some odd rare books, people!!!

Our library also has a cool feature where you can request books for them to buy when they have money....I am probably going to get an email asking me to stop requesting titles soon :lol

Those sound right up my alley except for the Prachett book. He is just not my cup of tea.

I prefer Dime Store Magic and Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong. For some reason I couldnt get into the other side stories. *shrug*

Philippa Gregory is a wonderful author too.

I think im going to read Walking Dead by C.E. Murphy next. Its the next in the Siobhan Walker books :) Her other series the Negotiator series starting with Heart of Stone is really good too. I would recommend it for sure.

This was the first Kelley Armstrong book I have "read". Ok so I am listening to it.

As for Philippa Gregory, she has become on of my favorite authors and I try to read any book she puts out.

I haven't heard about Walking Dead though. I may have to check it out.

What i have found with Terry Pratchett is that I like to listen to his books more than I like to read them. THey are good stories but I think they are better as verbal stories.

That's interesting. I'll keep that in mind.

I can't read Pratchett without laughing out loud and annoying anyone in the room...
