In preparing its report ahead of the Davos meeting, the World Economic Forum surveyed 750 global experts and decision makers who named economic confrontations and national political polarization as the top risks in 2020.

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who will attend the Davos meeting, rejected the idea that the upheaval in American politics is a threat.
"I don't think it has any impact on the world economy,"
Mnuchin told reporters on Wednesday, adding that other political issues such as Britain's departure from the European Union and last year's deadlocked elections in Israel were similarly inconsequential.

clearly, just like his boss, mnuchin believes (or wants us to believe) he knows more about this shit than the 750 global experts

what the holy fuck is WRONG with people sucking this stuff up?

It's called disagreeing, having a different point of view or opinion....it's called diversity of thought and it's a beautiful thing.

I know that concept just enrages you but there is nothing wrong with that, especially considering how often the "experts" get shit totally and demonstrably wrong.

Maybe one of these "experts" is the venerated partisan economist Paul Krugman. Now that would sure lend some weight to Butter's "reality." He has a Nobel Prize in economics, you know.

Who are you going to trust, Butters and a whole BUNCH of "experts" or the mere Treasury Secretary of the Country with the largest economy, the strongest growing economy, and who oversees more than 750 economic experts in his department alone?

This idea that the larger the committee you have from which to build consensus is the oath to brilliance is stupid on its face. Committees do not leverage the collective might of the individual intelligence of members the group. Generally, their output i dumbed down to the level of the biggest idiot on the committee. That's how groupthink works.

Butters doesn't even understand the basics about what is being discussed. All she knows is the source that fed her the pablum and that 750 is a bigger number than one. She has no idea hiw to support the argument being advanced by her team, nor the slightest how to address the divergent viewpoint expressed by Mnuchin.

What is going on here is you have a survey of major globalists and they are seeing nationalists throwing sand in the gears that they see as a risk to their plans and designs that they support either because they feel globalism is more just or because (more likely) they benefit in terms of power or profits from a world being driven globally.

Globalism is just collectivism on a global scale. Naturally those of us who are anti collectivist who would prefer a bottom-up approach to prosperity rather than a top-down dictate of who can be prosperous doing what are going to object to globalism. I'm sure you could have find lots of experts in the former Soviet Union explaining how their collectivist ideas were going to outperform the economic engine that is the United States baced on efficiencies of scale. They were wrong than the globalists are wrong now.

Limey socialist butters is perfect proof why the 1st Continental Congress resolved non-importation from Britain.

The left doesn't seem to mind holding conflicting positions. There are always "experts" and peer-reviewed "studies" to support whatever batshit crazy position they want to take on tuesday.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to be for zero population growth and a pay-as-you-go system for the indigent elderly. Especially when you insist on making no age adjustments as life expectancy increases, and insist on benefit increases that are tied to currency devaluation (otherwise known as inflation) caused by bad monetary policy which at its heart is caused by ever-increasing entitlements.

. . .and since when have the Butters of the world acknowledged the idea that there is objective reality. They speak of "my truth" or "your truth" and eschew fundamental agreement on even the most basic concepts. These people cannot even concur that mathematics yields objective, correct answers for basic math problems.

. . .and another thing- how is it the same leftists that insist that the evil, greedy, powerful rich are controlling our lives and keeping the little guy down are enthralled with Gatherings of those very individuals at climate summits, WTO summits, Davos, of all places.

Shouldn't Butters be skeptical about what "they" are trying to pull at Davos?

Butter's reality emanates from her Tarot cards.

Sorry, it is extremely difficult to take your posts seriously. An urban Deplorable who fancies himself as one of Sam Elliott's cowboy characters obviously has a lot of growing up to do.

Better luck in your next alt incarnation.

anyone, anyone rational and not totally invested in denial, should accept the informed, definitive joint opinion of 750 global experts in their field over the one voice of someone who's just a politician covering his arse

of course, in true trump-mode, deny deny deny
education bad, education elitist, play to the ignorance and fears of those who don't know any better

From where you're standing the earth must certainly look flat. :)

And the world running out of food. Aborting a fetus would be less sad than watching a baby starve to death.

Nonsense. Crop yields have continually increased and at this point, there is less food insecurity than any time in human history despite the record population.

Obesity is a far bigger problem in the world today then starvation.

Here's an idea. Why don't you inform yourself on the issues that you wish to pontificate about instead of simply tallying up how many experts agree with the people on your team.

You already made your fatally flawed appeal to authority in your original post. There's no need to repeat your fatally flawed appeal to authority. If you don't actually understand the issue that you're objecting to your "reality" that everyone who disagrees is being stupid about...whhy don't you just quietly withdraw and move on to something that you do have actual understanding of and an actual opinion about?

does anyone still read q or mann?

they love to post in a vacuum

Dear narcissist known as butters who just happens to also be a hyper-authoritarian control freak........your willful ignorance and self centeredness doesn't mean anyone else posts in a vacuum, you are not the center of the universe for all people.

Shocking realization for you I know, but, it's true.

I guess somebody's embarrassed that the depth of her ignorance has been pointed out.
