it's not like there's another body of 750 agreeing on a different set of threats. or even some einstein-type coming up with a new scientific theory to disprove the consensus. this is 750 experts v a politician whose president has so cowed his own body of people who decide what the greatest threats to america are that they want to only release the information privately this time (the norm being a public announcement), having earned his ire last year.

and why? because they all agree that specific threats trump identifies to drive his policies aren't of the level of threat TRUMP decides. we all know he states he knows better and more than everyone else; this is not truth. this is showmanship to dazzle his followers so they fall in behind him not questioning the policies he adopts.

you, the american taxpayer, pay for these bodies of intelligence that look at and interpret data and come to informed opinions. opinions trump, the only impeached republican president, rides roughshod over--basically saying you are paying for nothing.

If minimum wage and entry level jobs were regulated to high school kids, we'd have to give up our whole way of life.

Like let's say I wanted literally anything to eat at noon on a Tuesday- in your world where only kids worked these shitty jobs and not adults with careers. So I went to a restaurant. It was closed, because there's no servers because they're in school and it would be a violation of human rights to take them out of school to make them work a shitty server job. So I went to a fast food restaurant- it was also closed, because everyone eligible to work was barred from doing so, because it was lunch time on a Tuesday. So I thought, 'fuck it, I'll go to the grocery store and get me a rotisserie chicken; I was raised in a trailer, I'll eat a whole rotisserie chicken in my car, I don't give a fuck." Then I get there- and you guessed it; fuckin closed.

Let's say I wanted to enjoy my American right to get shitfaced- a right we value so much we overturned a goddamn constitutional amendment- oh, there are no liquor stores or bartenders anymore? Because kids literally cannot work those jobs? It's not possible? So we're back to prohibition, as a nation?

Say I want a pack of smokes- same problem.

Now, being from Kentucky as I am, where tobacco and horses and bourbon is pretty much all we got and our economy is already fairly shitty; what the hell are we supposed to do? There are national prohibitions on two of our biggest state exports. Those entire sectors are now gone. Because y'all wanna be big ol assholes.

Y'all never have an answer for this. This mindset would literally cripple our economy. Overnight. I mean, just the fact that it would cause a prohibition on alcohol- we been down that road. It didn't end the way y'all seem to think it will.

And I get that I know more about econ than most folks- but this is high school level shit. This is the shit you learn when you're in high school and get a job at a grocery store and your boss tells you that you gotta clock out early because they fucked up the schedule and if you stay one minute over they've violated child labor laws or that you gotta call over an older cashier if somebody comes through your line with a bottle of wine.

Some of y'all ain't never worked a day in your life and it shows. Because this is the kinda shit you learn when you get you one of them worky jobs.

Kinda like how learning that cost of living should cause an exponential increase in minimum wage is something you learn in a middle school econ class when they make you run a fake town. Or when you fucking play SimCity. Some of y'all's Sims ain't got no economic security and it shows.
