Relic Hunters! (closed)

Jesse lifted his head up, dragging one of her nipples up in his teeth until it slipped out. "I'll have to remember to tell you more often then." His mouth went back to her chest, but only briefly. He began trailing kisses down her stomach. When he reached her hips, he showered her thighs kisses as his hands slowly spread her legs apart.

He took hold of her hips in his hands and placed a lingering kiss on her pussy. It had been a long time since he last gave her an oral session. After all they'd been through together, giving her that special sort of pleasure seemed like the least he could do. His tongue darted out, teasing her soft lips. He looked up at her with a naughty smile before he resumed kissing and licking her.

Drina moaned in anticipation as Jesse kissed down her body. She moaned louder when he reached his goal. "I always said you had a clever tongue."

She let one heel rest on his back. She squirmed and moaned louder. He licked and sucked gauging what to do from her reactions. "God, Jesse. There, right there." She quivered and pushed up against his mouth. She rubbed her heel up and down his back.

Jesse relished listening to her moans. Hearing her voice had him painfully hard, though he was committed to finishing what he started. He turned the attention of his mouth to her clit as he slid two fingers into her and began pumping them in and out insistently. He placed his free hand on her stomach and gently pressed down to keep her from bucking her hips too hard as his fingers sought out her G-spot. He found it moments later and braced himself for her reaction.

Drina put her hands to her head and moaned louder. Her body quivered as she felt her passion swell. She tossed her head on the pillow. "Oh, Jesse." Her thighs tightened, her back arched, and she made one loud cry as she came. "Oh, Jesse." She sighed. A hint of a smile touched her lips as she regained her breath.

As she came down from her orgasm, Jesse kissed his way up her body before planting a quick kiss on her lips. He rose above her with a smile and stripped off his shirt and trousers. He laid down on the bed beside her, interested to see if she would take the lead as she had done that night in Belize. "Do you need a minute to recover, sweetheart? You know I don't mind waiting for you." He truly was getting back to his old self. The events of their adventure were temporarily pushed to the back of his mind. After tonight they'd part ways again. He wanted to enjoy this while he could. He would have the existential crisis brought on by his brush with divinity when he got home.

Drina smiled hazily at Jesse while he undressed. She rolled onto her side when he laid down next to her. She traced one of his new/old scars. His body was like a map. Every scar told a story and she had been with him for many of them.

She reached up and pulled his head to hers and gave him a deep kiss. She could taste herself on him. It made her head spin. She kissed him harder pressing against him. She felt his hard cock between them. "Why should you have to wait?" She straddled him. He had liked it before. Very much from his reaction. "Unless you have another position in mind?" They could always change it up later. Jesse had a lot of stamina.

She got into position to ride him.

Jesse wasted precious little time. As Drina got into position, he took hold of her hips and pulled her down onto his shaft. He was eager to have her try her little trick again. He gazed up at her with a smile. He could see a couple of faint scars on her dusky skin, though nowhere near the number he had. Aside from the few he acquired before they even met from growing up in the slums, he had always been there to take the brunt of the damage. Maybe he was just old-fashioned that way.

He tilted his hips side to side a little, grinding himself inside of her as he squeezed and massaged her hips in his hands. She was beautiful. He had seen beautiful women before and from every corner of the earth. But something about Drina always stood out to him.

Drina smirked a little and moved her hips in a figure eight. Doing the moves she did before, she watched Jesse's face. "Does my sultan like?" She said ina fake middle eastern accent.

She liked the look on his face. She liked being on top so she could see him better. It gave her a feeling of control. She could gauge what she did by his reactions. What to do more, harder, faster.

She bent down to kiss his lips and undulated against him.

"Your sultan?" Jesse asked with a little grin. "I like that." When she leaned down to kiss him, he lifted himself enough to meet her part way. Somewhere in his head the pieces were starting to fall into place. He was still unsure, but he was starting to suspect that he had let himself get more attached to Drina than he had planned to. He could still remember how he nearly panicked at the thought of her being tortured. He wouldn't wish that on anyone, but the thought of it happening to her in particular made his blood run cold.

Seeking to dispel those thoughts from his mind he reached his hands up and thumbed her nipples. He loved the feeling of her soft skin under his hands. And the way her body gripped and undulated against him was an experience unlike anything he'd ever felt before.

Drina smirked, "You would. What man doesn't want a harem to cater to his every whim?" Any other comment she had planned disolved like dew when he teased her nipples.

"Jesse." she breathed. She arched her back and circled her hips again. She leaned back one one hand and slid the other down to stroke her clit. "Ooh, you feel so good." She cooed.

Of all her lovers, Jesse held a special place in her heart. But what he told her before about not being with any other woman but her in the past two years...that was a worriment. She was never one to be tied down. It was in her gypsy blood.

A naughty thought crossed Jesse's mind and he sat up with a wicked grin. "I want to try something." Without giving Drina time to react, he pulled her body flush against his and got off the bed. Her legs reflexively went around his waist and she sank onto his shaft. He carried over to the wall and pinned her there with his body. His lip caught hers in a passionate kiss as he started pounding into her. It was a slow, but intense pace with gravity combined with the thrusts of his hips driving him deep into her body with each stroke.

Drina had occasionally started a fucking in this position and then moved to the bed, but never the other way around. Jesse was full of surprises. He wasn't like any lover she ever had. And now it seemed he wanted to be her only lover. She did not know if she was ready for that kind of commitment. She barely knew him as a person, only as a lover and as competition for relics.

She clung to him moaning and crying out with each of his thrusts. "God, Jesse!" She dug her fingernails into his shoulders as she came. She held him tightly quivering in his arms.

Jesse gave her one final thrust and roughly pressed her against the wall as he released his seed into her body. He kissed Drina passionately as his body spurted one shot after another inside her. He staggered backward, still holding her against him, and collapsed back onto the bed. He broke the kiss and smiled up at her.

There were red marks on his shoulders where her nails had dug in and he currently felt them as a mild but not unpleasant burn. He brushed her hair back and gave her another kiss before his smile turned sad. "I'm guessing this will be our last night together for a while... I meant what I said. I don't have as much fun on these little trips without you..."

He cupped her cheek in his hand and dropped his head down onto the pillow with a sigh. "Then again, maybe a little time apart will help us make more sense of... whatever this is between us."

"I thought we were spending a week in bed after all that has happened." Drina said playfully. She thought he was teasing until he touched her cheek.

She thought Jesse was the one who needed to make sense of things. He was the one who had changed the arrangement. Yes, it was her fault for saying another man's name in the heat of the moment, but she had always thought things were casual between them and the sex was as much a competition as anything else. And now this.

Jesse had been very blunt that he had not slept with another woman in two years. Two years! He would be very hurt and angry if he knew just how many men she had slept with in that time.

Drina was fairly sure what Jesse wanted from her, but she was not sure she was prepared to give it. Not to mention so many other things. Like their fundamentally different beliefs on the disposition of found relics. And where would they live?

Enough of this, she thought. She leaned down and gave him a kiss. She could feel him slowly softening inside her. "If this is our last night together until...we don't know when...We need to make the most of it, don't we?"

Jesse smiled at that. They spent another two hours in bed, kissing, cuddling, making love... At last they drifted off to sleep. Jesse was the first to awaken. The covers covered the two of them only up to the waist as the morning began to slowly warm up. He stirred and rubbed the sleep from his eyes before stopping still. They had left the door to the balcony open and perched on the bedpost, watching them, was a quetzal bird. Did they really come this far north? A thought occurred to him.

"Drina," Jesse whispered as he gently shook her awake. "Look."

"Mmmm?" Drina said missing his body next to hers. She rolled over a bit to see what Jesse was whispering about. She blinked when she saw the bird. "A messenger?" She whispered. "I thought we were even now..."

She had no idea what this meant. Mezo- and South American myths were something she had intellectual knowledge of, but things were getting far too strange, even for her. She had an affinity for the supernatural beliefs of the gypsies and Italians, even other parts of Europe, but this...this was alien to her.

The two of them just stared at the bird and it stared back. The silence was palpable. At last, they both heard a voice in their heads, the same voice as last night. 'You walk a dangerous path. Know this Adriana Zemfira Solario and Jesse Carrol Moore: one day, we may call on you again though it may not be as you have already seen.'

With that, the quetzal spread its wings and circle over the bed, dropping two of its tail feathers onto the sheets before swooping out the open balcony door. Jesse scrambled out of bed and ran to the door, but the bird had vanished into thin air. He could find no sign of it anywhere in the skyline. He turned back to the room and looked to Drina and the two feathers. Without a word he went to the bed, took up one of the feathers and with an uncharacteristic sense of reverence wrapped it up in a spare pair of handkerchiefs. He would buy a tube or something to keep it in for the trip back to the States.

He looked over at Drina and hesitated as if on the brink of trying to form a sentence before finally getting something out. "Could you do me a favor? I assume we're not going to tell anyone we saw an Aztec god or a talking bird. I like living outside a padded cell. But could we also not tell anybody that my middle name is Carrol?" At the skeptical look she gave him, he replied, "It's a perfectly respectable Gaelic name. But I got teased about it enough when I was a kid, thank you."

Drina felt a deep chill run through despite the warm still air in the room. She pulled the sheet up partly to cover herself from the bird's gaze, partly for it's semblance of warmth against her skin now covered in gooseflesh.

She raised an eyebrow at Jesse's full name.

After the bird had gone she picked up a feather and twirled it between her thumb and forefinger.

She snorted when he spoke, "Even my people would have a problem if I said I saw talking bird, let a lone a god. Our visions are usually more subtle." She stroked the feather carefully.

"Your secret is safe with me...Carol." She grinned happy for some levity after this new revelation. But she was still thoughtful.

"What do you think the quetzal meant? '...it may not be as you have already seen'? And why is a Meso-American god interested in us? Why don't they bother one of their own? There are plenty of specialists right here in Mexico City. Mexican Specialists!" She shook her head. "I do not understand. And what are the feathers for? A sign to prove we were not dreaming?"

She sat cross-legged on the bed and leaned forward on her elbows. "Jesse, what have we gotten ourselves into?" All her concerns about the future of their relationship were forgotten, and really, Jesse had seemed more confused than she.

"I need a drink. Or coffee. Or both." She continued to stare at the feather as if it would give her answers to her questions.

Jesse sighed and began to get dressed. "I don't know, doll. I really don't know. I haven't been to church in... has it been 4 years? Yeah, I remember now. The last time I went to church was for Christmas mass with my family back in '24, so a little less than 4 years I guess." Still wearing only his trousers he walked over to the balcony and looked out along the skyline. "And now a damned giant feathered snake comes out of the sky, talks to us, and brings me back to life just as I was about to go up to that great adventure in the sky."

He looked back at Drina. His puzzlement was written all over his features. "Wish I knew what the hell was going on. You stay here, I'll go downstairs and scare up some room service."

The two of them spent the next three days together in the hotel. Jesse didn't bring up the status of their relationship again. Nor did he seem to want to talk about their encounter with Quetzalcoatl. They read in the papers about Petrovic's body being found along with relics known to have been stolen from Mexican museums. The police were investigating, but had no leads as Petrovic had only recently arrived in Mexico City and had few known contacts.

When the plane arrived to take Jesse back to the states, he simple smiled at Drina, gave her a kiss and said, "I'll see you around, beautiful." Little did he know that he would see her again shortly and that their meeting this time would be no accident.

The Spear of Ulster

Naples, Italy
July, 1928

It had been 6 months since the adventure in Central America. Drina was in her office at the University of Naples when there was a knock at her door. In stepped one of the security guards, Pietro.

"<I beg your pardon, Miss Solario, but there's a gentleman here to see you. He's waiting out front.>" He spoke with a slight Roman accent and had the look of a man who would be more at home guarding the imperial palace a thousand years ago than in the modern world watching over students and professors. Everything about him made his military service obvious. "<He's a... strange gentleman. An American. Said his name was Mister Moore.>"

A voice came from outside the door. "Oh, Signor Moore! That's me!" With that, Jesse strode into Drina's office, but looking as she had never seen him before. He was dressed in a new, tailored American sacque suit in blue-grey with a cream shirt, two-toned black and white shoes of the kind fashionable in the States, a black and blue diagnol striped tie, and a fedora matching the suit and cocked at a rakish angle. His blonde hair was waxed and neatly combed back. The jacket was off and slung over his shoulder, held up by his left hand. Scandalously, the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, the right higher than the left to show off a new black and green tattoo of an elaborate Celtic knot covering the scar Petrovic had given him six months earlier. In his right hand was a leather briefcase. All together, he looked at once very dapper and very roguish. "Miss me, gorgeous?" he asked with that characteristic smile.

Pietro was less than amused. "Sir! I asked you to wait at the front desk!"

"Yeah," Jesse responded casually. "I didn't listen then either." At the large ex-soldier puffing his chest out in frustration, Jesse backed up slightly in defense. "Hey, relax. Everything's jake. Drina knows me. Right, sweetheart?"

((Sorry for my delay, life got busy.))

Drina was about to tell Pietro that it was all right to send 'Mr. Moore' in, but Jesse was already through the door.

"It's fine Pietro." She said in her urbane Italian. She stood and walked around her desk. She had on a conservative suit in white linen with a peach-colored blouse that enhanced her skin. Her long lush hair was done up in her signature messy bun with a pencil stuck in it.

Pietro nodded curtly to Drina and walked out.

Drina held out her hands to Jesse. "Aren't you the Beau Brummel." She smiled warmly at him. "You look well. What brings you to Italy? And do not say it is just to see me."

It was good to see him. Drina did not realize how much she had missed him until Pietro said his name.

Jesse took both of Drina's hands and kissed them before pulling her into a hug. When he stepped back, he looked into her eyes with surprising sincerity. "I want your help."

He reached in his jacket and pulled out a leather pouch, which he dropped on the desk. "In there is a copy of a map and documents that I think lead to the first treasure I've ever wanted to see go to a museum." He dropped down into a chair and gestured for Drina to have a seat as well. There was a barely restrained energy and enthusiasm shining in his face and shown in his movements. Whatever was in that pouch had him very excited.

"Did I ever tell you about my family's story?" he asked.

Drina raised her eyebrows. This was a very different Jesse. She thought she liked it.

"No, I don't believe we've ever had much time to share our life story with each other." They were either struggling to find a relic, or steal it from the other, or as the case in Mexico, fighting for their lives. Or making love. They rarely had time for small talk.

She went to a cabinet along the wall and poured two glasses of whiskey. She handed one to Jesse and sat down. She set her glass to the side and opened the pouch. "So...tell me your family's story and what this treasure is."

Jesse accepted the drink and downed it in a single gulp. A Cheshire grin split his face. "Both sides of my family are originally from Ulster. I'm actually first generation American. When An Gorta Mor hit the country in '45, my mother's side got out the instant their crop failed. They saw the writing on the wall. My dad's side... well, they decided to tough it out. Did better than most but not by much. I come from a long line of nationalists, proud Ulstermen. My grandfather in fact was involved in the Fenian Rising.

"Anyway, my dad was born in '75. After Gladstone failed to get Home Rule pushed through for the second time in '93, my dad decided as much as he loved his country, he didn't want to raise a family ruled by the English. So he scrounged up the cash, bought a ticket on the next boat out, and came to America. He and my grandfather never quite patched that up. They stopped writing to each other not long after I was born." At that, Jesse pursed his lips and looked off to the side. He seemed to lapse into thought for a moment before clearing his throat and continuing.

"The point is, the blood of Ulster's in my veins. And that's why this lead I'm onto... This is personal, but it's bigger than me. About a month after I got back from Mexico, a client of mine named Kohler invited me to a society function. It was an auction. Antiques, curios, artwork, that sort of thing. Lot of collectors in the room so I thought it would be good for business. On a whim, I placed a bid for an antique model ship. Old English warship, thought it would look good on my brother's mantle. He has a thing for boats."

Jesse then leaned in conspiratorially and looked around as if suspicious that others were listening. "My brother and I were looking at the ship and we found a hidden compartment in it. Inside were old parchments preserved with wax. It's a map and an account of where the gae bulg is located." His face split into another big grin. "The spear of Cuchulain, the hero of Ulster... My ancestor." There was no hint of irony or mirth in Jesse's voice. He was dead serious. His words were sincere and the look on his face one of boyish enthusiasm.

((My maternal grandmother's people actually came over before the famine, sometime in the 1820s.))

"What a find. And so many things falling together for you to find the parchments..." Drina said. What were the odds that Jesse would find himself at the auction, actually win the model, and then to find the compartment. Although the last was not too surprising since Jesse was a relic hunter, he would know a hidden compartment when he saw one. "All of these things came together, and the crowning glory is a map to Cuchulain's spear." She said in awe.

"I am sure you have confirmed that the map is no hoax." She remembered her whiskey and took a sip. "I am honoured that you want me to help you find it. I will need a day or two to put things in order here...I take it we are going to Ireland?"

She wondered if she should ask Jesse to stay in her home until she was ready to leave, or if that would be too much of a step in a very serious direction. She knew Jesse's feelings now, but was still unsure of her own. Even if she were sure, she doubted her father would permit it. Rom marriages were arranged. And marrying outside the group promised expulsion. She had pushed already the rules very far by attending university and following her passion and putting her skills to use as a relic hunter. Relics that she put into museums and not into the Rom treasury.
