Republican Convention

From Christie's speech:

Mitt Romney will tell us the hard truths we need to hear to
end the debacle of putting the world's greatest care system in
the hands of federal bureaucrats and putting those bureaucrats
between an American citizen and her doctor.

I am here to tell you tonight, it is time to end this era of absentee leadership in the oval office and send real leaders to the White House.

I know we can be the men and women our country calls on us
to be tonight. I believe in America and her history, and
there's only one thing missing now. Leadership. It takes
leadership that you don't get from reading a poll. You see, Mr.
President
, real leaders do not follow polls. Real leaders
change polls.

Of course you can find negative examples....But the overall tone of their speeches is not negative. IMO.

I honestly do not know how you can read what you just posted and say it is negative overall. But being stupid is your right....

It's true, his wife Ann didn't mention Obama. But that wasn't her 'job' at the convention. They used her to humanize him. I actually heard her speech, and cringed at the crappy a cloying writing, but I like her just fine.

So you're 1 for 3. Does it change your opinion?

I didn't "find negative examples." You said that the three people you mentioned didn't mention Obama at all. I am of the contention that you didn't notice, because you agree with them, and haven't come to terms with that yet.

Who was right?

So you say the overall tone of C.C. speech was negative?

Perhaps you are the one that is not as nearly objective as you think.....

The first paragraph ignores the fact that Romney enacted almost the same healthcare system in his state.

The rest of it is negative because it does nothing but criticize the current leadership.

How do you not see that?

No, the Chris Christie speech was fantastic. It was a nominating speech for himself for 2016. I love Christie, I wish he'd run as the candidate. I even made a thread about it.

Other than that, you're doing fine.

I was wrong. 1 of the three did mention Obama.

One did not at all.

One said the word President once, not Obama...

Was any policy announced? So far my issue is there's a coy sense of "Elect me and you'll see what I'll do" in a way that I'm supposed to buy a President in a Poke.

No Democrat has ever practiced positive campaigning. Obama and his crew are the number one offenders when it comes to negative campaigning. American politics has never been anything except a rough and tumble game.

Liberals like to whine a lot about negative campaigning because they're hoping to impose rules on their their opponents that prevent them from using the kind of speech that places liberalism in a negative context that ordinary Americans cannot fail to understand.:D

Who is whining? Vatass made a statement I found to be untrue. I didn't come in here complaining about anything.

I do find your comment that Obama is the number one offender to be rather funny considering the republicans record for going negative. Personally, I think there's way too much negative campaigning on both sides.

^^^ Another one who thinks his own complaints are founded, but the others' are 'negative.'

ATTENTION WHINY PUSSIES: Both sides are negative, all the time. It's what they do, and it's how elections are won in a two-party system. Your guy lies, their guy lies. The better liar wins.

If you don't like it, stop being pollyannas and work to add a third party into the mix. Every third party in history has moved elections toward populism. Ever wonder why that is?

Jesus, it's like "bring your daughter to Lit" day up in here.

Obama hasn't received any negativity from old scared white republicans.

Oh wait, that's all he got.

Especially from the weak old man you replied to.

I found some irony in Christie accusing the Democrats of "scaring and dividing" America in a speech that was all about "us against them".

Well they did not accuse anyone of giving anyone cancer or pushing a old lady of a cliff in her wheelchair... So there is that.

Oh, so the purpose of this thread was just to make yourself feel better about the republican party.

Got it.

No...It was to get thoughts on the speeches. I also stated IMO it was not a overall negative tone.

I guess it is all relative....

I guess I assumed that if you were really interested you would actually respond to people's comments on the speeches (both CHNOPS and I actually posted about Christie's speech).
