Resident Evil: Return to Desperation

Ian

With blood rapidly dripping into his eye, Ian is not able to even make out shadows in the deep darkness. He hears one of his fellow men get knocked over in the darkness , but can not fire for fear of hitting his companions. Ian rips off a part of his sleeve and binds up his bleeding head. He is able to clean most of the blood out of his eye, but still is no help to the others at this point.

Ray

As the shotgun fired, I could feel the spray of a few pellets striking my ankles and shins. THe man let out a groan, seeming incoluntary more than anything.
THe thing that had landed on him was taking off, though I doubted it was dead, not with the speed it still moved at.
Lickers, I thought. Had to be.
As if to reaffirm this thought, the other charged us. i tried to raise my shotgun, but didn't have time. The next thing i knew, I was on my back, the things weight hovering over me.
Shit, I thought, fighting with the shotgun to get it positioned in the small space between myself and it. In the darkness, I could only hope I hit it in a vital organ, at least to slow it down.
Before I can even begin to get positioned, its long tongue lashes out and wraps around my neck.
Within seconds, I'm standing, much to my disapproval, the creature raising up on its back legs and nearly lifting my feet from the ground. I raise the shotgun then, the creature's body no longer restricting my ability to do so, and press my forearm againstit tongue, thinking with the logic that the tongue would be in a straight line when pulled so tightly, and that the line would end at its head.
I pumped the shotgun once, then squeezed the trigger...

DM

pin pricks of steel flew into the Lickers unprotected mouth and peppered it's brain, the lickers tongue loosened about the mans neck, and the licker itself slowly slumped to the ground

Ray

I fell to my knees, the shotgun kicking out of my hands, and felt the ground give way some as the body of the licker thumped to the ground in front of my. I gasped, feeling around the floor for my shotgun. I found it a few seconds later, then forced myself to my feet.
Still straining, I asked, "What now? We can't stay here, weren't there two?"

Ian

Ian sees the flash of the shotgun and hears a body hit the floor. He hopes it was a creature and not one of his companions. Ian hears heavy breathing and can hear Ray muttering to himself about there being two lickers. Oh shit, one may be down but where the hell is the other one.?

Ian can make out the shadowy form of Ray to his left, grabbing him by the shoulder. Ray almost pumped Ian full of lead, but was able to stop himself. "Sorry about that , I just wanted to make sure you are ok. " Ian releases his grasp and starts to move towards the walls to try and find a way out of the stairwell.

Ian has not heard anything from Jason for a while, nor can he see him in the pervading darkness. Ian yells out " Jason, where are you ?" No answer comes back immediately.

Carter

I emerged from the park with just my berretta. Luckily I hadn't run into any of he creatures I tussled with earlier. The police station was a good 8 blocks away from here. I realized then I had to try and take the low road if I were to get out of this alive.
To my left I saw an open manhole cover.

Of course! I can sneak through the sewers and avoid everyone. Going down into the sewers I was pretty confident I could slip by unnoticed.

OOC: damnit PM, you're not making this easy, everything in the sewer is dead!

DM

a blob of acid suddenly heads towards the man in the park, splashing against a tree beside him. the tree withering and crashing to the ground.

a small creature with six legs lept out of an ally and began charging towards him. bursting green slime, flinging it at the man

Carter

"Arhhh" I had another thing on my tail now, this one apparently flinging acid. I coudln't afford to waste the bullets on it. I quickly closed the cover and slid down the ladder. I hope that damn thing's acid takes awhile to get through the manhole cover.

Carter

Aparently the creature lost me, good. I headed down the dark sewer, smelling the waste that lurked throught the tunnel. I bumped into something and quickly turned around. I lept back, seeing a burnt corpse. Guess I'm not the first to go through here today.

About twenty minutes later I made it to the other end, I crawled up the ladder and lifted the lid. Two blocks away from the police station, smooth sailing from here, I hope.

the truth about CARTER

The police station was a few yards away but there were a lot of blindspots between me and there. There was a payphone just a few meters away from me. I decided it would be best to make the call here.

I ran to the phone and dialed the number, using my calling card. For the first time I muttered my true identity, "Omega base this is Dr. Arat I'm currently in Desperation under the identity of swat police officer Carter. I have some astounding news to report, the specimans are evolving. I've come in contact with three different speices so far but I suspect---" the sound of a dial tone filled my ear. "Hello? Hello!!"

I turned around to see my worst fear come true. "Stay back you! Jesus how did you get so strong?" I withdrew the berretta and emptied one of the clips. "Oh no...." I turned and ran but I tripped, it was then I knew it was over.

Ian

In the all encompassing darkness, Ian feels for the walls. He can not find a door , but is able to find the stairwell. We may as well go up. We heard some gunfire up there before, so maybe there are some live people up there. He grabs Ray's arm and helps him up the stairs. They get to the top and can see some lights coming in through the glass.

Ian is able to pull open the door with some mighty effort. He looks both ways down the dimly lit corridor, seeing nothing move. He motions for Ray to follow him. He goes out into the hallway, checking his shotgun to make sure it is full. He takes a good look at his lantern and discovers that he had somehow turned off the gas , but that it could still work. He turns the lantern off to conserve the gas. He turns to Ray to see which way Ray wants to go.

Ray

I shrug. Either way could be death or salvation, most likely death.
"You can choose," I say. "Desperation has taken its toll on me already. Either way will do for me."
And I didn't just mean the corridor. Right or left; up or down; life or death. Any escape might suffice by now.

Ian

Ian looks at Ray and sees the desperation and desolation in his face. Ian feels the same way, but his will to live was forged in the bloodbaths of Dublin , forged to last. He hears some faint noises down the hallway and goes down cautiously to investigate.

He comes to a room on the right side of the corridor. It has some glass to the door, but it is opaque and the lights seem to be off in the room. Ian knocks on the door, "Hello, anyone in there?"

Ian

Ian knocks on the door again, he is sure he can hear noise behind it. He tries to peer in through the glass, but his efforts are thwarted by the opaque glass and the darkness. He examines the door. It is a pretty secure door and he can see the metal inlay in the glass that makes it bulletproof and hard to break. Ian tries to think of how to get in.

Then he remembers that he had given Ray some of the grenades too. Ian still had some left , but he asked Ray if he could have his grenades. Ray reluctantly handed them over. Ian looked up and down the hallway looking for what he needed. He was able to ransack on open office to get some sections of twine that he salvaged from the vertical blinds. He went back to the locked door and strung the grenades around the edges of the glass.

Ian

Ian knocks on the door one more time. He yells,"Ok, if anyone is in there , back away from the door now." He ties the pins of the grenades to one long string and Ian and Ray get into a door way down the hall. Ian pulls the string, waits patiently for the grenades to go off. When he reaches the number ten in his mental counting, there is an explosion down the hall.

Ian looks and sees a cloud of acrid smoke coming from the door. He rushes down and sees that while the glass is shattered and all over the floor, the damned door is still mostly intact. He turns his lantern on and pushes it into the opening in the door. "Anyone in here?" He waits for a reply.

"Yes! Thank God someone finally came, after the...door got blocked...we were worried we'd suffocate in here!"

Almost leaping for joy, Dr. Jones and Sgt. Hicks made their way out of the room through the smoke, starting to cough horribly.

Ian

Ian offers an arm to help them get through the door. "Be careful, that glass is still sharp at the edges. " Ian takes stock of the people, seeing that some of them are armed. Good, now we have some help to fight these creatures.

Ian

"Hello, my name is Ian and this is Ray. We are both just trying to survive with all the crazyness going on. We have no idea what is going on, but have been attacked by all sorts of unreal creatures. Do you folks know what is going on? "

The duo exchange a pained expression then both shake their heads. Sgt Hicks speaks up first.

"We were with a group of five...we split up though to goto the armory and get us some weaponry...then everything went nuts and here we are."

Carter

I woke up and found myself inside of some building. The last thing I remembered was shooting at something outside and now I'm here. "Hello is anyone around?"

Ian

"So you were a group of five huh? Which way did they go? Maybe now we can all go together and make sure they are alright. With four of us, we should have enough firepower. Can you show us the way? "

Ian

Ian looks over at Ray. He seems much destracted right now. He must know what is going on here. Why wont he tell me ? Maybe knowing a little more of what is going on would make us more at ease. Or would it make us more frightenened?
Ian waits for the two new arrivals to show them the way .
