Resident Evil: Return to Desperation

Yon Culpepper

Yon raced up the steps, he needed to quickly restore the security systems and get them back online. As Yon reached the first floor again, he stopped to catch his breath. Whatever it was that came over him, was gone, but Yon knew that the danger he felt was real. The power in the stairway went out and Yon got scared, "What the hell is going on " said Yon. He opened the door and stepped back into the room, as he did a pistol rang out. Yon dove to the ground, sliding over to a desk near by. Again shots rang out, the bullets impacting into the wall behind him. Yon Raised up and fired off a burst from his rifle, then dashed for a desk a few yards away. Again Yon stood up and fired off another burst of shots in the direction of the attacker.

As he slumped back down to reload, a voice rang out, " Hold your fire." Yon stayed still, he didn't respond, unsure if what he heard was real or his imagination. Again the voice rang out, " Hello, ya there. . hold your fire." This time he responded, as he slowly rose from behind the desk. " IM coming out, done shoot." As he rose up and looked around, a young officer stood up from behind a desk near the far wall.
Yon lowered his rifle and slowly approached the man, the officer did the same in turn. As Yon neared the young officer, he began to speak, " What the hell is going on here, what's the Idea of shooting at people" The young officer looked somewhat confused, then replied "IM sorry, thought you were one of them walking dead," he pauses a moment, the says "Aren't you that Elvis singer guy?"

Yon grins for a moment, then reaches in his back pocket and pulls out a card. " Yon Culpepper, professional Elvis impersonator." The officer fingers the card and gives a confused look, "Geese thanks, I think" Then the officer turns around and yells out, " Its, OK guys, he's on our side." With that said two more officers appear, as well as a young women dressed in a lab coat. Yon notices that one of the officers head is bandaged, and the other officer was dressed in a SWAT uniform. As the three of them approach Yon the young officer begins to speak. " My names Rick, the man to my right, that's Lewis." The man with the bandaged head nods and gives a simple hello. Rick then points over to the officer dressed in the SWAT uniform. " This fellow here is Sgt. Hicks and this young lady here is Dr. Jones." After a brief introduction and exchange of hellos the officer fills Yon in. he explains to him how they were trapped in the conference room, and with the main power being off line they couldn't get out.

Yon cut the man off, remembering he had forgotten to put the security system back online. Yon quickly raced over to the computer where he had been working earlier and began to peck away, opening files and putting the system on line. The others confused by Yon behavior, slowly made their way over to him. They watched him with interest as he brought the system on line. they also noticed Yon's devices that lay on the desk. Sgt. Hicks was the first to speak, " I take it you hack into computers for a living?" Yon turns his head and grins, " No just when I can't get a gig" Hicks lets go a slight chuckle, and soon the rest let out a slight laugh. "Done " says yon as he finishes opening the files. " The system is back online, and now the test." Yon clicks open a file and then a low hum can be heard in the station.

Yon gets up and points over to one of the windows, "Look, and behold the power of Yon" The others turn around and see the security shutters coming down. " Nothing can get in now, we are completely safe and nobody can use any security doors without this badge," says Yon, waving the security card in the air. Hicks looks at Yon, then speaks. " Your right my friend, but whatever is in this here station cant leave either, so how safe are we truly?" "Well, what type of weapons do we have to defend ourselves against such a threat?" asks Yon. The officers look at each other, then Lewis speaks up. " Aside from that there rifle, just shotguns and pistols."
The other two officers nod in agreement, each showing their shotguns. " Well, isn't their an armory of some sort?" asks Yon. " Sure is, on the second level of the station , on the other side" says Rick.

"Well, lets get rolling before things get rough" says Yon, slinging his riffle over his shoulder and putting his stuff back into his pack. Yon looks up and can sense something was wrong, the officers knew something, and the look on Hicks face said he wasn't happy with the idea. " Is there a problem gentleman" asks Yon, his voice containing a hint of anger. "Not at all " says Rick "In fact I'll take point" With that said the five member team heads for the door leading out to the main hallway and again Yon feels a sense of dread, fear begins to grip him, causing him to grip his riffle tighter. The doctor leans over into Yon's ear and whispers, "You feel that, that's death coming for us."

DM

Mr. X year security shudders closing up above him. this was good. these stairways led down. there was no more up. Mr. X stood out of sight and waited for the person to come back down the stairs.

Dr. Jones

"You feel that, that's death coming for us." whispered the doctor to their newfound friend.

Although he may not be an officer, that stunt he pulled with the power was worthy of some respect she figured. Besides, at least he has some idea of where to go and hadn't been making moves on her, as Sgt. Hicks had begun to...maybe the gun-jockies could get her out of this with this...Don, wasn't it?

They proceeded down the hall, in a combat formation. Rick at point, Hicks and Lewis covering the flanks and Yon and Dr. Jones pulling the rear. Yon noticed several doors as they walked down the hallway and then spoke up. " Shouldn't we check these doors to see if there's anybody alive?" Hicks snapped an angry No to Yons request. It seemed Hicks was not happy about where they were going, and the other two officers looked quite nervous as well. As they neared the end of the hallway, Hicks turned around and spoke. "This leads out to the main lobby, from there we can reach the detective offices and minor facility's. Second level below there is Armory, Evidence room and interrogation rooms. Third level is cell block level and. . . " Hicks trailed off, it seemed something had caught his mind, he began again " yeah only cell block on third level"

"That's it, only jail cells on that level" asks Yon, he doubted Hicks was telling the truth. "Yes, and don't ask me again" said Hicks, his voice now contained anger towards Yon. He knew inside that something else was down there, something that they didn't want him to see . . . or maybe something they didn't want to see. Yon gave a look at the doctor, a look that showed her Yon wasn't believing the story. He gave her a slight smile, then turned his attention back to the entrance "One last thing " asked Yon "Can we get access to a radio, we should make an effort to call for help." Hicks gave a nod, approving of the idea, and Lewis chimed in that the dispatch desk was in the main lobby. So with everyone armed and ready, they proceeded to head into the main lobby.

Sgt. Hicks, despite his poor attempt to lie about the contents of the cell level, had managed to not tell the newcomer what really was down there. Now the question was whether that was good or bad...

Ian

As Ian , Ray and Jason were running through the sewers , Ian detected the smell of methane again.

This is not good, there is methane all over this place. We are an explosion waiting to happen.

"Come on guys, we need to hurry up. We are going to get blown up in the methane if we do not get out. Thank god none of us seem to be smokers. "

So saying, Ian picks up his speed .

OOC: Hey I saw it on Southpark so it's got to be true. Actually if you feed a pigeon antacids or rice and they immediatly drink water the contnents expand and blow them up.

Carter overed his face as the zombie burst into millions of pieces. A thick, black goo covered him from head to toe. He grabbed a pack of tissues and started to wipe some of the excess goo off, saving some for further testing.

Speaking of testing, the specimens were ready to be viewed. Carter took the tooth first and stuck it under the microscope.

uh, sewer people, the fire never stopped. lol

Mx.X waited for a while, but they did not come back down. so he moves around the level he was on, where more of the control rooms were, and one by one deactivated them, or messed them up. smashing the consols one by one. comming to the survielance room, he noticed where they were going and headed off that way. locking the door an barring it when he left.

OOC: Sorry for not posting. Been trying to get organized in my original RPG.

Jason saw the flames. "Gentlemen, I think it's time to leave. Come on!" Jason pushes past the two and runs right towards the clicking sound. "Only one way out of this shit and that's up. Gotta find a ladder leading to a manhole." Jason yells back at them.

They round a corner and Jason comes to a stop. "FUCK ME!" Jason says as he looks at the monster before him. Jason slides the M-16 off his shoulder and opens up on full auto. The two men with him both open up with their shotguns.

OOC: Someone want to tell me what I just led us into? Chewie, you said something about a clicking sound, but different than the dogs. Gotta make this fast or we're all toast.

Ian

Ian follows Jason closely as the round yet another corner. They all come to a full stop when the see the horror in front of them. It is a giant mutated spider. It has huge fangs that it is clicking together in time to the rapidly beating hearts of the men. Ian could see wetness seeping from the gaping maw, and was not sure if it was saliva or poison.

Jason opens fire on it , in fully automatic mode. The bullets are flying like a deadly hail storm into the body of the spider, but they are having little effect. Ian pumps a round or two of shotgun pellets into it also, but the spider is barely fazed by it.

"Go for the legs, we have to immobilize it. "Ian yells.

So saying, he loosens a few blasts of shells at the joint of shoulder and leg and is able to seperate the flesh. The leg falls off the body and the spider slows down as if in thought. Ian quickly reloads his shotgun and blasts away at a second leg.

"Nothing just look like dead cells." Carter had been examining the specimens for a hour, nothing was different between the creatures and a dead human corpse. As he was looking at the skin in the microscope, a drop of blood from the zombie he killed earlier fell from his hair onto the skin. The cells awakened with activity, beginning to scab. "Holy shit." Carter took a scraping from the tooth and added it to the skin specimen.

The tooth scraping began to grow into a full sized tooth. "Incredible, it seems that seperatly all the parts are useless but when they come in contact with one another, they regenerate." Carter hit the tooth with a tweezer and watched as it broke again, "Aparently though it's not as strong as it was before before I killed the host though. I have to call the headquarters with this."

Carter reached for the phone, smiling as he heard a dial tone. He went to dial the phone but the line had gone dead. He hit the reciever to try again but got nothing. Withdrawing his pistol again, he decided it was best to leave and try to get back to the police station.

DM

OOC: Damnit, you guys just don't get it do you? you not too quick? LOL you're boxing yourself in fast!

As the three men in front of the spider ripped open automatic fire, they managed to blow off a leg, but that wasnt what fazed the beast, the spread of flame gouting form the barrels mixed with the poisnous gas, turning the guns into flamethrowers. burning all the hair on the spider and turning it into a big ball of flame, that not only started barreling towards the men, but ignited the methane in that corodor, sending a second tunnel of flame screaming towards them.

A Shitty Post

Jason's eyes went wide at the fire ball came towards him. He looed around instantly, looking for safety, He found some, but not the way he was hoping. "SHIT! Quick into the water!" He yelled and dove for the horrid, putrid acrid slime that used to be water. He took a deep breath and dove for the water, belly flopping into it as the fireball came closer. He tried to cover his entire body, hoping the water would give him some protection. He didn't even bother to look and see if his two travelling companions had followed his lead.

OCC: Okay, Khadgar, I'm slimed!! Is that enough for you?? Did I make it or is it time to stick a fork in me?? You love tortureing us don't you??? Grrr

DM

OOC: you're covered in shit. i'm happy *laughs evilly* but look at it this way, now you don't have to worry about the methane. it's burnt past you. and it'll beurn off all the rest. your safe.

IC: the flames pass by overhead. not harming those that dived in the sewage. the flaming arachnid stumbled past them and collapsed. burning to ash

Ian (slightly before Khadgars last post)

Ian sees the unrushing fireball, and looks for a way out. He sees Jason dive into the putrid slime, but it is the only hope. Ian grabs Ray by the collar and pulls him into the water with him.

OOC: Could not be on till tonight, am I too late to save them?

lol i posted that about ten minutes ago. thats why i said "those who dived in"

OOC: Ok, cool ,

Ian looks up from the water and sees the fiery body of the spider rush by on a flaming wave of air. He sees the body turn to ashes and the blackened ash hurtles through the cave on a gust of air. Ian is thankful that he has survived. He taps Ray on the arm to make sure he is ok, and Ray assures him that he is fine.

Ian takes a minute to catch his breath and pulls out the map. The police station should be just up around the next bend. Ian retrives his shotgun from the water and dribbles the water out of it. He puts it over his shoulder as he continues to walk down the tunnel.

Dr. Jones looks around rather anxious to hurry up and get out of this creepy place.

Jason waited until the fireball was safely over and then pushed upper body out of the slime. He spit the water, or what used to be water, out of his mouth and then took a deep breath. He looks around and finds his two companions also in the sludge. Jason rolls over, shakes the goop from his hands and then wipes the stuff from his face. "Well that was thoroughly(SP?) sickening!" Jason said as Ian stumbled out of the slime and pulled out his map.
Jason stood up and looked his clothes over. "If I sent my cleaning bill to Tartarus, you think I'd ever see the money?" Jason didn't expect an answer. He moved to the side of the sewer, found a clean spot, sat down and quickly broke his M-16 down and wiped it down. He felt himself lucky to find a cleaning kit in the butt of the weapon right where it was supposed to be. "Gimmee five minutes, I'll be ready to roll! I'm not going anywhere until I have some firepower." Jason said as he wiped the bolt clean.

When Jason finished cleaning and oiling the weapon, he tossed it over his shoulder, looked at his companions. "Gentlemen, shall we?"

Ian

Once Ray and Jason are all set to go, Ian leads them down one more short section of tunnel. There at the junction of two more tunnels is a ladder going up. Ian peers up into the darkness and is pretty sure that he can see a manhole cover. Ian motions to the others that he is going up the ladder. He puts the shotguns shoulder strap over his shoulder and moves his 9 mm to the wasteband of his jeans.

He hands the lantern over to Jason as he begins his ascent. He climbs up to the top of the rungs and muscles the manhole cover open slowly. The metal cover miraculously make little sound as it scraps out of place to provide an exit for the tired men. Ian reaches down and Jason hands him the lantern. Ian pulls the lantern up and surveys the area they are in.

Ian pulls himself up onto the pavement and keeps a low profile. The lantern casts shadows over a lot of vehicles that have the Desperation Police Department logo on them. Ok, good, we are in the police motor pool garage, so we should already be in a relatively secure area.

Ian signals to Jason to start coming up the ladder next. In a few short minutes, all three men are in the garage and are looking around for signs of life. There are no signs of struggle in the garage, but the area is eerily silent.

Jason climbed up into the Police motor pool. The three of them spent a moment allowing their eyes to adjust to the darkness and then spent another few moment looking around. "Got an idea. Give me a minute." Jason said. With his M-16 at his hip Jason moved off towards the front gate of the motor pool. He figured the Marines and the police would organize their motor pools pretty much the same way. He got lucky. He found what he was looking, almost exactly where he figured he would find. A gas pump. "Yes!" Jason said outloud but not to anybody. He moved around the gas pump and pulled a empty gas can from a shelf. He quickly filled the gas can with the flammable liquid and headed back to where he had started. M-16 in one hand, the now full five gallon gas can in the other. When he returns he shows the two men what he found. "I'll take the back. If someone starts shooting at us, I don't think either of you two want to be next to me." He said and got ready to move into the police station itself allowing the other two to lead the way. When they started moving Jason fell back about fifteen feet. If the gas can caught fire or exploded, that should give them some time and space to hunt cover. Jason kept the M-16 at his hip, his finger on the trigger.

OOC: Not the safest thing in the world, but it sure could prove useful later. :)

Circling out of the sky, several dozen ravens descended on the man running out of the supermaret. a door opened off to the left and four zombies lurched towards him.

OOC: you said A baddie, how about 40? lol

Yon Culpepper

As the group reached the door, there was a brief pause, nobody made a sound. Then Rick took a deep breath and opened the door. As Rick stepped out Sgt. Hicks and Lewis filed out, scanning the room. As Yon followed the men out into the lobby, he noticed the front doors wide open. " To your right " yelled Rick. As Yon turned he saw a stumbling zombie coming towards him. Before he could react, a blast went off and the zombies head exploded. Yon turned to see Lewis lowering his shotgun. "Stay in tight formation " yelled Sgt. Hicks. " We need to close and bar those front doors" yelled Rick. Sgt. Hicks stepped forward and fired off five rounds from his shotgun, dropping two more zombies.
"Reload" yelled Hicks, as he stepped back and Lewis stepped forward to take his place. Lewis in turn fired off his shotgun, bagging another zombie, and in the same fashion, stepped back to allow Rick to take his place. Hicks looked over his shoulder to Yon and yelled, "Stay back and protect the doctor and cover our backs, well try and secure the doors. Yon raised his riffle and fired off a series of rounds towards the open door, at the zombies stumbling in. Yon saw the dispatch desk to his left, as well as two zombies approaching from that direction. Yon grabbed Dr. Jones arm and began to sprint towards the dispatch desk. Riffle positioned at his hip, Yon fired away at the zombies as he ran toward them, he was literally dragging the doc across the floor.

The rounds shot up the first zombie, and it quickly dropped to the ground. As they reached the dispatch desk, Yon slung the doctor behind him and raised his riffle up at the oncoming zombie. Yon pulled the trigger, but only two rounds were fired. " Shit out of ammo" said Yon, as he dropped his riffle to the ground and pulled out his pistol. Yon stepped towards the zombie and as the creature reached for him, Yon shoved the pistol into its mouth. Yon pulled the trigger and the 9 MM turned the zombies head into an exploding pumpkin. Yon looked over to see that the officers had blasted their way to the door, dead bodies now littered the floor. Yon pulled out his other pistol and handed it to the doctor, " Hold onto this, and stay low till we secure the lobby" said Yon, as he turned and sprinted towards the front doors.

As he reached the other men, Yon could see the zombies massing towards the front doors. " Quickly close these doors" yelled Hicks, as the men blasted the oncoming zombies. The three of them pushed the doors shut, as Sgt. Hicks provided cover fire through the open door. As the doors slammed shut, Yon looked to Sgt. Hicks, and said, " How do we lock these doors" "Beats the hell out of me, but we need to do something" said Hicks, who was scanning the room for something to bar the door with. Yon saw a keypad to the right of the door and spoke up, " maybe we can secure the door through that security pad, " Do your magic Mr. Elvis man" said Rick. Hicks moved over to the door to take his spot and said "Yes, hurry and lock the doors."
Yon unslung his pack and pulled out his decoder. Quickly he wired up the key pad to the device, and flipped the switch. Yon looked to his left to see the officers desperately trying to hold the doors shut from the attacking zombies. The device beeped, indicating that the code had been recovered. Quickly Yon entered the code and the keypad beeped off, as the doors bolted. The officers eased off the door, the threat now gone for the moment. Yon put the device back into his pack and made his way over to the dispatch desk. The Officers began pilling up desks and furniture against the door, it seemed they had little faith in the locks holding. Yon reached the desk and saw Dr. Jones huddled behind the desk, pistol in hand. Its ok Doc, were safe for the moment. Yon cracked a smile, then walked over to the dispatch radio. Yon picked up the receiver and spoke into it. " Hello, mayday mayday, we are in need of help, repeat we are in need of help" yelled Yon into the receiver. A voice came back across the radio, " This is a federal line used for federal agents only. Identify yourself or change frequency immediately" Yon paused, he was confused, what was going on. Before Yon could respond, Sgt. Hicks had made his way over to the dispatch desk and yanked the receiver from his hand, he slung the receiver to the ground. As Yon attempted to retrieve the receiver, Sgt. Hicks drew his pistol and pointed it at Yon. "Pick up that receiver and respond, and I'll shoot you dead where you stand." Yon slowly backed up from the radio, he was now in a total loss for words.

Sgt. Hicks did not lower his gun, he kept it pointed on Yon. Without warning the other two officers drew their guns, but pointed them at Sgt. Hicks. " Drop your weapon sir" yelled Rick. " Do it Hicks" said Lewis. Slowly Sgt. Hicks lowered his pistol and re-holstered it. "Its time we tell him what's going on Hicks" said Lewis, as he moved around Hicks, weapon still pointed at him. " Tell him what's going on Hicks" said Rick, as he flanked Hicks side. Sgt. Hicks slowly walked over to the dispatch desk and pulled a chair out, he slumped himself in the chair, his head hung low.

Carter

As soon as I stepped outside, a group of ravens swarmed me. I tried to run to the car but found that a group of zombies were blocking my way. With all the birds around, I could't get a solid shot on any of them so I ran back inside the pharamacy.

I knew I had to run out the back door but I had to get to the car so I could at least grab my large duffel bag filled with the guns from the van. Perhpas I could lure them into the room and then blow them up?

I took some propane tanks and lined them up at the store's window before heading out. I decided to grab some lighters and hairspray, if they got too close I would toast them. I also grabbed some medical supplies, hopefully I won't need them. I ran out the back door and went down the block so I could cross the street.

I walked back down the alley and found myself exactly across the street from the pharamacy. THe zombies had made it to the main entrance, no doubt looking for me, I didn't see the ravens around though. I took my six shooter and carefully aimed at one of the propane tanks. I pressed the trigger down, in a split second the entire store burst into a small explosion, sending glass all over the street. Did I get all of them?

Dr. Jones

She had heard the whole story before, she knew what had happened...down to the smallest detail. All her years of training had not prepared her for this though.

Crouched beneath a desk and holding the pistol in white, trembling hands, the youthful doctor tried hard to quell the ghoulish fear that raised within her.

When would it end?
