If I suspect you’re a tool, it’s because I’d like to expedite and confirm that fact so that I can delete you from my attention. Bonus if I get to put you on the spot and make you out yourself for your douchiness or idiocy.

If I like or care about you, it’s because I want to understand you better or help you communicate something.
