RockNut's Darkened Corner

Welp....I think I'm finally starting to get over the crud I've been afflicted with for over a week. I've tried to sing, play and record a couple songs; unfortunately my voice isn't ready for highs yet ( not that it ever REALLY is), so I'm not gunna post the butchering of "Midnight Rider". I will however post a rather rough run through of this song; Ramblin' Man...Not the Allman's "Ramblin' Man, or Waylon's "Ramblin' Man", but Hank Sr.'s "Ramblin' Man"....only with a little more blues influence than the original. One could argue that the original was a blues song at the time; but the advent of the Fender guitar kinda changed things a little right after that, so..... here.

"Ramblin' Man"

I can pretend you have PTK's jeans on.....

I liked Bentley back when he showed up on the radio...I think he's a pretty decent talent, but his rough edges have been cleaned up pretty smooth in Nashville lately (unfortunately for him).

Any cashews? ;)

I just happen to have a couple......right........here! Yep. Nuts for the pretty lady:kiss:

How are you today, Morri? The family and I have a ( 5 yr. old) soccer game to attend this morning....good fun:D

Good morning rockdoggie. He was pretty good, of course I was on my 4th Patron' and 3rd cowboy by the time he sang......There were some hot cowboys and great two steppers close by last night......:):):):)

just read something at BMF's HAng Suite that demanded a response. imma post it here first cause it's the right thing to do.

da Blade

Give him six strings and he’ll make ‘em sing
Fingers gliding on frets
When he is recreating in the riffs he’s making
Tunes as good as they get

In every key he knows the notes from A to G
Exactly where they should fit
Can call them right up with deft musician’s touch
Then pluck the hell outta it

Can take you down low and move your very soul
With them mellow blues he’ll play
Or blow your mind with a bluesy rockin’ find
Of something nasty from Stevie Ray

He’s a crooner with skill ya’ know I heard his ass kill
Old version of Rambling Man
It turned back time and put the early 50s in mind
Brought Hank back to life again

And as if that's not enough this cats got other stuff
Humor that can rip you in half
Funny as hell with the shit he will tell
Goddamn you're gonna laugh

Could be about you, that’s the damn thing too
Still you gotta smile
Cause his intention is to improve your condition
Make ya happy for a while

The man is gifted and a just a little bit twisted
That makes him fit right in
Pictured in a camo thong and nothing else on
Couldn’t tell if it was Trixie or him

And the dude’s got shoes that give the women the blues
When he shows them off in style
Still he’s got enough man in him to attract a lot more trim
Then most have gotten in a while

Then I read all about it; his envy of poetry talent
It was impossible for me to see
Why he’s not realizin’ that without even tryin’
The man’s whole being is poetry

Just bein' me, dewd....I don't get to crack up and goof at work, so you folks ( and Trixie) are the benefactors of my pent up nonsense.

Aye....or I could retort that NOT living in Austin makes me insanely jealous...;)

Well, hey...I know there are at least a couple people who stop by here that may dig some deep down acoustic blues, so I'll post another one of me. From the same day as the last audio; only this with my acoustic- voice and guitar throgh the same mic. The song is old; early 40's, I think. Bill Monroe recorded it as a slow bluegrass tune, complete with high lonesome vocal melody and haunting instrumentals. Guitar, however never played a big role in his music. In fact, guitar as a lead instrument never really took hold in that genre of music until Tony Rice came along decades later. Anyway; I'll post the link- I think you'll see that there really isn't much difference in TRUE bluegrass music and the sho' 'nuf blues. Bluegrass was ( in its early forms) a blending of southern blues with appalachian string music; directly descendant from the Irish. This song is much closer to blues than Celtic....

In the Pines
