Rough Diamond

I smile 'well - I got to go check out a doc - can you help?' I held out a hand 'you know Molly - you are full of surprises.'

She smiled back. "Well of course," Molly replied helping him up to her feet. Her horses were no where to be found, but she knew that they would've made it home by now. Months and months of training had nearly killed her. She wrapped his arm around his waist and took his hand to wrap around her shoulder. "Better lean on me. The blood flow should be a little less."

Ileaned on Molly - she was strong yet supple, 'Molly - I understand if you want to get home, if I know Will he'll run and hide awhile, I need to recover and .....'

We reached the docs and entered, He opened with 'well - best cut these off..' I just looked at Molly

Molly shook her head. "I said I'd stay until your business is done, and I intend to keep my word," she replied and helped him on the bed. She stayed as the doctor put the wraps. He looked up at her and shook her head.

"I have a spare shirt on the chair there," he replied. "I had a feeling that I'd see you today." She smiled and tilted went over to put it on. It looked almost identical to her old one. Expect, a little more form fitting.

"Thanks doc. How long until he can be on his feet."

"That depends on how quickly he wishes to heal."

'thanks doc - I don't plan on staying longer than I need. Do you know where we can get a couple of rooms - and maybe a bath?'

I looked to Molly - 'I may as well treat you! We'l be here a bit then go after Will.'

The doctor nodded and looked at Molly. "She has her own room here. I've seen her so many times that I just gave it to her. You two can bunk together," he said, turning away. "The bath is down the hall and to the right. Go one at a time or together, I don't care. But don't make too loud a noise."

Molly stuck her tongue out.

I laughed 'together? have you been a bad girl here Molly?'

Then as I tried to walk to the bunk I began to fall again - unsteady and unused to the pain in my leg

Molly was able to catch him before he fell. She then laughed... well, more like... stated, "Ha ha. You wish," she replied. "I used to come here with my best girl and... well, sometimes people thought we were doing things we shouldn't. But it was all fun and games."

I smiled - wasshe truly that innocent?

'Well Molly I need a bath - best you go set the room up while I soak this blood off!'

Molly wasn't blind, as she used to live on the farm. But never had she expirenced a man herself. But accidently walking in on two pigs mating was clue enough. She nodded and decided it would be easier. "If ya need any help, just give me a shout. I'll be... two doors down." She pointed down the hall from the baths. Turning on her heel, she watched, her boots not making a sound.

I smile and turn my back - tenderly removing my shirt and flexing my back muscles - the scars from gunshot wounds - T in all must have seemed ugly - but nobody would see them so no matter.

I stripped and stood making sure the bandage was secure I stepped into the bath with my good leg. The warm water felt wonderful and I turned to sit - draping my wounded leg out over the side - and closed my eyes...

Molly sat on the bed that she set up for him. She had set herself up on the floor, pretty close to the door. She figured it would be best and that he wouldn't have to worry about how she slept. (The woman still had the sleep positions she had as a young girl. Abnormal, sprawling and awkward.) She touched her face, only to see that there was blood. "God damnit. How long does it take for one guy to take a bath?" she muttered impatiently as she took what was left of her previous shirt and spat on it.

"I hate blood. A mess to clean!" It was then the doctor came in with a bowl of water and a fresh towel.

"Molly, you'll be needing this. And as you know, he is an injured man. Let him enjoy his bath," the doctor berated. "I can hear you on the other side of the building. And I mean it, behave."

She nodded as he left, and she stuck her tongue out once more. Dipping the towel in the water, she did her best to clean the blood, only she had no idea where it all was.

I washed and towelled myself off then using only the towel to cover myself went into the sparce room, one bed... With a bedroll on the floo and Molly trying to clean up her face.

'here let me.' I took the soft cloth and began to clean her face revealing a hiddenbeauty that had previously been covered by her hair and a layer of grime

Molly had started to create curses under her breath as she realized it as stubbornly not coming off. She looked up to see that Cole had come in, her eyes pleaded for help. Luckily, she didn't need to say a word as he cleaned off the gunk.

"Thanks," she replied, closing her eyes. "So, you get the bed 'cause of your injury and I get the floor 'cause I think you might want to sleep alone... I sleep... awkwardly." That was the best way to put her. She yawned softly and covered her mouth before realizing that he was wearing only a towel. "Don't you have other clothes?"

I looked down sheepishly 'nope, just what I was wearing. And I won't sleep in a bed anyhow - too used to the floors and being on the run - so it's yous' I grinned

settling myself on the floor I looked at Molly and smiled -'how come you're out here Molly? It's a bad place with bad people- like me'

She smiled, and shrugged. "I don't know. Guess I've grown up around bad people ever since I started coming to town," she looked away, then back at him, her eyes growing cold. "Mother wasn't a nice person. Brother is currently wanted but my older sister... she's the only nice one." No, Molly wasn't a nice person... she had done things she regretted.

I leaned back 'well Molly - I take you to be a good person - now get in that bed and lets get some sleep?'

Molly stood up. "You better get some rest. I'm gonna walk around a bit. My legs aren't the least bit tired," she smiled and left the room, leaving him some time to himself. Biting her lip, she wondered if her bow and arrows were still where they dropped. Knowing that Will was around, she decided to risk it. He wouldn't go back to the place where he was discovered... right?

"Hey doc, if Cole comes looking around for me... tell him not to worry that I'll be right back."

She left the building and took off at a run.

I tried to stay awake but the fatigue finally beat me - the sleep was good - but deep and I was brought awake by the sound of movement in the dark room

Molly had found her bow and arrows... but something else as well. A set of footprints that didn't belong to her, and were much too large for Cole. She hoped that he was okay as she took off running at break neck speed. She was not a woman who often prayed, but at this moment, she hoped someone heard her and allowed her to make it in time.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid!" she muttered under her breath as she kicked open the door. The doctor laid in a pool of blood. While he was knocked out, he would not die. She moved up the steps, trying not to make a sound.

the blow came from the shadow 'got you you fool, Thought I'd left you for dead you arse!' Wills foot pressed on the gun shot wound - forcing me to scream in agony. 'well bye Cole - guess you'l never find out why!'

I heard the hammer pull back on his revolver and the cold metal press against my temple....

Molly came bursting in the room, nearly tripping over her feet, gun cocked as she saw the wanted man in the room. Her eyes narrowed as he saw where the gun was trained. "Oi, you come into my lands and cause this trouble?" she snarled, moving closer to him. "Drop the gun, and I won't have to empty this barrel on you." The dark nature of her personality started to rise, her eyes flickering over to Cole. She knew that Will was probably stronger and faster than her, but if she could get Cole to live a few more days...

"Why don't you pick on someone who can take what you got?"

I saw Will swing and miss - Molly was fast! Then he pushed her hard, and bolted for the door dropping some papers.

My hand reached out to Molly - then there was darkness....

Molly, on her back, managed to shoot a few shots at his retreating back. Whether or not they hit, she didn't know. "And next time, you'll be curled up on the floor!" She rolled to her knees and crawled over to Cole, straddling his waist, as she lightly slapped him. "Cole. Cole. Cole. Cole. Cole." Each time she said his name, she lightly slapped his face. Looking down at the wound, she quickly inspected it, bending backwards. No lasting injuries. She moved back up, waiting for Cole to open his eyes.
