Runners unite?

Whenever I'm running behind a female runner my mind almost always turns to sex. Something about a sweaty, fit girl running is a massive turn on fire me. The rhythm is hypnotic as well. It's good if she is fast cause it pushes me to keep up

And that's my stalker statement for the week

Haha I am exactly the same...

Cross Training

Wondering what other lit runners do to cross train? Yes, besides sex.

I'm horrible about cross training. I believe in it, I just don't do it enough. I'm hopelessly in love with running.

5 miles done today with some intervals in the middle. Felt pretty good although wasn't the nicest conditions to run in! Very windy!

I don't really do any cross training. A friend sent me some yoga type exercises aimed at runners but I haven't actually done them yet...I'll have to see if I can find the link again.

Yoga is great for runners.

I do inline skating too, which is great no-impact (unless you fall, lol.)

I try to do various arm and leg workouts too, but I have never committed to anything like I have to running. There is a ton of great stuff on You Tube that is free, you can do at home, but....again, I need a bumper sticker "Rather be running." correct that "Rather be trailrunning."

I tried the insanity dvd program for a month. it's a great workout, but absolutely killer. I'm not a workout at home kind of guy, need the open space to clear my head

Got my half this weekend! Wish me luck!

Always great to see a hot girl out on your run but I am a heavy sweater so I'm not sure anyone would find me attractive when I run haha

I'm much the same really. I like to run after work to clear my head from the day. I do run one day at the weekend too, usually in the morning to set the day up. I refer to be outside than inside though. Most sport I do is outside.

Good luck for the half! Have you got a goal in mind for time or anything?

Inline skating would be impact sport for me as I guarantee I'd fall over :)

I'd be a bit more than happy with 1:40! :)

That sounds great - I'm doing my first half marathon in May. I applied for the GNR ballot but didn't get a place. Heard it's an amazing race to be part of.

Yeah, it is my first time doing it, really hard to get into and i was surprised and pleased that i did :) Is it the Sunderland one you are doing in May?

No, it's one in North Norfolk. Should be a pretty picturesque route I think.

My daughter coming in from work this evening informed me she has signed the two of us up for a 21km mom/daughter marathon around the city in April for a well worth charity cause. Although quite fit from swimming and tennis, any advice from regular runners on how to avoid blisters would be gratefully appreciated.
silicone inserts......

Good luck! Focus on those positive thoughts in mile 12! That's the one that I find the most difficult.

That doesn't happen to me. I'm glad, really, as it could make for a very awkward situation.

I do admire female athletes, but generally in much the same way that I appreciate a well-engineered piece of machinery. My jaw has literally dropped at the sight of a superb lady runner in elegant and fluid gazelle-like motion, but I didn't feel a sexual response beyond the logical thought that some fine genes were being expressed. I do find some women runners attractive, but I think that would be the case whether or not they are runners.

I do enjoy running with the faster ladies, but that's because they're technically very good in terms of pacing, following the best lines around a course and moving efficiently. I regard it as quite a privilege to be amongst them and able to learn from them.

You're not alone there.

Supposed to do a 10k race this morning. Managed 3k before giving up with very sore shins :(

It's a bit like that. Some mornings I can do 4 easy, others I struggle with 1
Not normally a problem I suffer with. I did a new route Friday after work up a couple of pretty steep gradients and although I didn't feel it at the time I wonder if that's something to do with it.

Rest day tomorrow and then an easy run Tuesday so will see what happens...

So my half was a huge success! I ran in 2:03:42. My goal was under 2:08:00. So I was very happy! This is my second half and I shaved over 20 minutes off my time! It was a gorgeous day! First ten miles were a breeze. Mile 11 hurt a bit but Miles 12 flew by. The last 1.1 miles were brutal as they were almost all up hill though. Really tough finish but overall a great race for me!

Mind if I ask which half?

Maybe, might have to consider that as a reason.

Time for new sneakers?

Congratulations - that's great for both beating your target and taking so much off your previous time!

7 mile trail run after work yesterday.

Does anyone wear the minimal trail running shoes like New Balance Minimus or Merrell Barefoot?
