Roger de Blythe

de Blythe could not remember when he had been so angry. To Magnus’ distress he showed the worst side of his nature. Not really wanting to listen to Arthus when he said “I must admit I half wish it had been me locked in the room drinking punch with you …” de Blythe snarled at him and showed his fangs in anger.

To Magnus’ horror he said menacingly “You might live to regret that remark! And if that little girl dies I promise, you and your leaders will curse your mothers for giving you birth! Don’t try to hide behind the youngsters. You and your fellow leaders are responsible. YOU WILL PAY!”

Hardly a word was exchanged between de Blythe and Magnus on the flight back until de Blythe took the bull by the horns and said “I want you to know I had nothing to do with what happened back there. I admit I find you an incredibly attractive woman but I would never engineer a situation like that”. He took a deep breath and lied “Like you I have a very fuzzy memory of what happened. I pray I did not disgrace myself.”

Eventually the plane landed at London City Airport and de Blythe used his mobile phone “Where the FUCK is our helicopter?” he shouted down the phone, stopped and then said “Then get it here NOW!”

Ten minutes later they were in the chopper and making their way to the hospital roof. On landing de Blythe and Magnus were taken into the unit, stripped, cleansed and sterilised before being re-clothed in special clothes as they entered the room where the little girl was lying in bed. The golden haired little angel opened her eyes and said joyfully “Doctor Alan. Doctor Alan I love you!”

Struggling to retain his composure de Blythe smiled and then pointed to Helen. “This is Professor Helen Magnus. She’s here to help us make you well.” Looking at Magnus de Blythe knew that any anger she or he held was being dissolved by the little girl’s charm. Turning to Magnus he said “Professor, this is the little love I was telling you about. Meet Chrissy King.”

She was furious at how rudely he treated the Northern Ice God leaders and sent them apologetic glances over her shoulder as they headed out. Her shame at their possible indiscretions and also at his rudeness in the home of these unique abnormals kept her from saying a word to him, worried it would only come out as a burst of anger and would jeapordize the ultimate goal they both shared, working together to save a life.

On the plane he placed his elbows on his knees and leaned forward toward her saying, “I want you to know I had nothing to do with what happened back there. I admit I find you an incredibly attractive woman but I would never engineer a situation like that”... “Like you I have a very fuzzy memory of what happened. I pray I did not disgrace myself.”

Helen shook her head, "I don't know...I don't really want to know the details of what occurred. It may be best if we just pretend it never happened." she suggested, crossing her arms and sitting back in her seat to unconsciously further the distance between them. "It's over. Now, we have the tissue sample and can get to work." The rest of the plane trip was spent in further uncomfortable silence as she looked out the window and he seemed to try to catch her eye every chance he could get, only to fail to hold her attention for more than a head shake or a scoff.

Helen visibly flinched at the tirade over the phone. When he snapped his phone shut and forcefully shoved it into his pocket she chastised him, "Roger, the language isn't necessary is it? Please tone it down." she warned. Even in modern times her sensibilities still couldn't handle too much cursing and shouting for no good reason. It seemed the more time she spent with him the less she could stand him...or anyway, that's what she was trying hard to convince herself of to keep from recalling the feel of him so very near to her earlier, or his lips against hers'..."There's the chopper, let's go." she said, leading the way to create yet more distance.

The child was a vision of fragility and loveliness as she lay there patiently awaiting either death or a savior and it made Helen feel a pang of sadness in her heart just to watch this small one suffering so calmly. She was moved as she watched de Blythe's whole demeanor change around the girl. He was a gentle spirit of healing and love and she felt herself instantly letting go of her earlier judgments about his ill temper, deciding he was simply worried about his little patient and anxious to get back and help her. Who wouldn't be? she thought, taking her own moment to introduce herself to the child.

"Doctor Magnus, he forgets I was a medical doctor before ever an accredited professor." she corrected gently. "But, that's of no matter. You get to call me Helen."she smiled down at the angelic face who nodded and smiled up at her in turn.

Helen continued, "Chrissy, we're here to try our best at making you feel better, alright?"

They explained the procedure to the nursing staff quickly as they prepped up for surgery and the anesthesiologist was getting Chrissy to the proper level of unconsciousness. Helen turned to de Blythe from across the medical table and her blue eyes shone pure serious business in the lamplight. "No more games, Roger. Let's do this right." she said, handing him the scalpel.

Kate

Kate went about working... downloading all the data from the pads into the main system. Her hands were still shaking a little at having woke up with Declan's arm around her. Why did that bother her... they were exhausted... and its not like anything happened... they just fell asleep. Nothing happened but why did she think that maybe it should... No... There was no way a guy like him would like a Street tough gone lucky like her. She thought about how comforting he was to those who dared to get near them when they were working and how he seemed to really care about what had happened in that lab. Geez Cabal had been some real monsters for a bunch of humans... made her feel bad for ever working for them.

She poured through the files as they were downloaded into the system and read over a few here and there. Pausing on a file she raised a brow reading intently what it said. It was about Isis... She had been imprisoned that close to the Sanctuary and Helen apparently never knew. There had been a problem and Isis had been transfered away from there but she managed to escape. They had tried to lock her into a fully feline form and apparently failed. Next locking her in human form to some success but not for long. Attempting to lock her in HEP or Half form apparently proved fatal to those around her. Shaking her head she let it finish downloading images files video and all and went to get cleaned up and get some food. Wandering around she was curious as to where everyone was.

Declan watched over the sealing of the lab and the creation of more natural lands to takes its place. His mind drifted back to waking with an arm around Kate and smiled till someone needed his attention to ask questions.

Isis and Henry

He nodded and watched her get dressed forgetting that he would need to get dressed too for a moment. Suddenly the thought hitting him and he leaped up and quickly got dressed... Shit he thought Will and Tesla and the others will realize he was in the same clothes from yesterday. Tesla he was sure would make some comment and... OH HELL what would Magnus think of him sleeping with her old friend. Fuck it he continued his mental dialogue it was worth it.

I would be more than happy to tag along if ya like.

Isis glanced over her shoulder to him tossing him an apple and shrugged.

Henry if you go with me you can't tell Helen that I went to talk to a Deathspeaker. The last time didn't go as well as it should have but this time I know better who I need to talk to.

She didn't tell him she needed to talk to Watson... She was not sure how he would react. She felt certain that Watson would understand and even possibly approve of her allowing herself to care for someone again. She just had to make sure She and James had been through so much and neither ever got to say good bye so this would have to do IF the Deathspeaker could reach him.

Henry nodded and once he was ready walked over and took her hand smiling to her. Truth be known he did not like the idea of her going to a Deathspeaker but who was he to stop her he would however not let her go alone.

Okay lets go and Not telling Magnus... I think I can handle that. Omitting an event isn't really lying is it?

Isis smiled to him as they walked form her little home and began to run in search of the Deathspeaker.

Roger de Blythe

"No more games, Roger. Let's do this right."

de Blythe glared at Magnus and then sheepishly looked round at the theatre staff “Doctor Magnus and I go back a long time” he said trying to break the moment. “’Roger’ is an old nick name from those times.” He laughed before saying “But Helen, this is not the time for games as you well know.”

The operation took over eleven hours and both Magnus and de Blythe were total professionals. Nothing else mattered to them; their sole aim was to save this young life. Then during the eighth hour Chrissy’s heart stopped. The anaesthetist pumped adrenaline into the heart chamber, de Blythe cut through the tissue and massaged the heart while Magnus applied electric pressure. Nothing seemed to work. Only Magnus saw what happened next.

Raising his right wrist to his mouth and turning de Blythe bit into his veins and drew a little blood. Grabbing the adrenaline from the anaesthetist he allowed two drops to mix in before forcing the tube into the pericardia area. Immediately the pulse sprang back and life was restored as de Blythe winked at Magnus.

Working together Magnus and de Blythe removed both damaged kidneys and injected the tissue extract from the Northern Ice Gods before replacing them. After about half an hour the Theatre Sister announce “Right kidney beginning to function.” The whole theatre team cheered and then about an hour later she pronounced “Left kidney beginning to function. Right kidney normal.”

Eventually it was time to stitch the child’s body together and take her to the recovery room. Three hours later she regained consciousness and the news was brought to de Blythe and Magnus as they sat in de Blythe’s private lounge drinking tea.

After the nurse runner had left de Blythe turned to Magnus and said “Perhaps you would like to tell her parents. And pass on the news from the NIGs.” He stopped, reached into his pocket and produced a card “And you and Will might like to use this. It’s a token of my gratitude.” The card was a booking for the ‘honeymoon suite’ at the Savoy Hotel. “And don’t worry; I won’t be making any of my sudden appearances.”

It was well after he'd shown Melaven where to find his favorite antelope and got nothing but complaints about their 'lack of true flavour' that Nikola had quite happily ditched her, leaving her there in the forest to find her own blood and get herself back home if she so chose. He was no babysitter and this certainly wasn't a date. Every time she looked at him it would remind him of his disloyalty to Helen and it made him ill. He couldn't wait to create distance between that confusing body and himself.

He wasn't at all sure where he should go, though. He knew Helen still wanted his help with this odd creature but he also knew this whole situation would do his head in before too long. He needed time to himself to think.
So, he made haste to go to his usual thinking spot, one Helen likely didn't even know about.

He'd purchased the old cathedral just across the park from Helen's Sanctuary in Old City thirty four years ago without ever telling her or anyone. He always left it appearing quite derelict and neglected to cover his own activities when he did use it. It was his place to go when he needed to be close to Helen but not feel he was intruding upon her. When he needed to make sure she was alright without suffocating and without her knowing how concerned he actually always was for her. It was where he'd go to think when he needed time alone but mostly time alone to reflect on the love of his life, his Helen, and how maybe one day she may finally love him back, maybe.

The main doors were heavily bolted shut and the thick chain and lock still remained, covered in layers of grime and dust, evidence no one had bothered with the old relic of a structure for many years, just as he liked it. But, this was never how Nikola liked to enter his hideaway. With a grin his eyes sought the side alleyway between the churchyard and the crumbling, ivy-ed wall. There was his best way in. No one but himself and perhaps some experienced rock climbers would be able to see the cleverly hidden footholds in the stone structure. As usual, Tesla climbed.

It was through a concealed crack in the wall just behind the facade of a stained glass depiction of Christ's last visit with the three Mary's at the foot of his cross that Nikola entered the darkened, dusty sanctuary that was his own. His father having been a Minister he had been raised to know the ins and outs of holy buildings and found great comfort in the musky places and the fact that even half a century after active use an old cathedral like this still smelled faintly of incense and wood polish. He needed no light here anyway. The dark was his friend, it reminded him how to use his senses. He knew his cathedral better than his own rarely used townhouse, better than Helen's Sanctuary, actually, and that said something since he'd been spending much of his time there for over a century. With a confident smile, Nikola climbed the steps up to the bell tower where his favorite place to be solitary was.

In the bell tower he had a telescope. Sometimes, when he could convince himself it was more for her safety than for his own pleasure, he would use it to look across the park toward her Sanctuary. He knew exactly where her rooms were. From his cathedral, using this method, he could see her office window, the hall to her quarters, and her bedroom windows quite well. When he couldn't get her off his mind and was driven to distraction with worry for her this was how he'd settle himself, spying on her a bit, it made him feel he was her silent protector. Her own personal guardian angel, well...a fallen angel, as a vampire, likely more her own personal beast than anything...regardless, he was hers, there for her. If only he could find a way to make her understand that, the depth of his love for her, how much he knew in his soul that they belonged together...He could spend whole nights hoping she'd stop working long enough to rest so he could watch her face relax in her sleep. He adored watching Helen Magnus in slumber. It seemed to be the only time she was ever really relaxed and wholly herself. But, she never slept as much as she should. He always told her so but she likely had no clue how true his warnings were because he was privy to insider information on her personal habits even she didn't know he posessed.

On this night, now melting into a clear, crisp dawn, Tesla took a gander through his telescope. His heart ached to apologize to her for what he'd done in quick tempered stupidity and he thought he could at least practice while staring at her perfectly placid face in slumber...But, the figure he spied in the bed wasn't the love of Nikola's life, Helen Magnus, no, it was empty and instead Will Zimmerman lay asleep on her bedroom sofa, his face mashed unattractively against the window...Tesla boiled inside. It appeared Helen Magnus had another sentry to keep watch while she slept and it wasn't one Tesla found to be fair competition. Once more he was furious with the insulted pride of a man who'd waited far too long to be noticed only to lose his place in the que to the 'Johnny-Come-Lately' out of the whole of mankind. How could he bow out of this gracefully when he could hardly even belief this dufus was being taken seriously by a woman as amazing as Helen? How could he make her change her mind and finally take HIS love seriously?

Tesla sat in his bell tower fuming and silently plotting until well into mid-day.

Kate

She had spent half the day working and her mind still went back to how she found herself that morning asleep with Declan holding her. It was just one arm around her but still... She had liked it... She... She liked him but he could never go for someone like her... she was a hired gun and he was the head of a sanctuary... like that would ever work.

She finally headed out for a walk through old town to clear her mind and sort out what to say or do if anything. Maybe it was nothing and just something that happened. Maybe she was making more of it than there was to it. She took off heading down the road packing a stunner a radio if anyone needed to reach her and her standard 9mms as she just wandered around.

With no one else around Helen said softly to de Blythe, "Roger, I hope you don't make it a habit, using your own blood to heal your patients, I mean. This time no one was around to see but what if you'd been surveiled? You could be caught and that looks to an outsider like seriously dangerous malpractice."

He shrugged and began to explain himself but stopped short when someone knocked at the door and entered to explain Chrissy's status and give them her chart with current updated information. After the nurse runner had left de Blythe turned to Magnus and said “Perhaps you would like to tell her parents. And pass on the news from the NIGs.”

Helen stood to do so but also paused to say, "Really, Roger, this was your passion. You're the doctor they're most familiar with. You tell them of their daughter's status, please. It will mean more to them coming from you." she said. "I'll accompany if you like. Then, I can add the bit about the Northern Ice Gods and ask which of them thinks they may have Abnormal additions to their heritage."

He stopped, reached into his pocket and produced a card “And you and Will might like to use this. It’s a token of my gratitude.” The card was a booking for the ‘honeymoon suite’ at the Savoy Hotel. “And don’t worry; I won’t be making any of my sudden appearances.”

She took the proffered card with an embarrassed chuckle, "Thank you, that's very kind. I have to say much as I might not entirely protest to a properly scheduled visit in the future sudden appearances during my private time are not at all appreciated. I'm sure Will would agree. Poor Will, I feel horrible having made a date with him and then left him like that...Thank's Roger. This might aid in the apology." She paused, still unsure herself if the encounter with Roger while both were under an aphrodesiac's influence was something she needed to confess to her new boyfriend or not. Sometimes ignorance was bliss. A slight blush tinted her face as she asked in a near whisper, "Nothing really happened between us, right? Nothing more than a little kissing and some other inappropriateness...but, nothing serious, right?"

Roger de Blythe

"Nothing really happened between us, right? Nothing more than a little kissing and some other inappropriateness...but, nothing serious, right?"

Shaking his head de Blythe said seriously “Helen, you are a woman of honour and you would not do anything you were not comfortable with. And I …” His voice trailed off before he said quietly “Well you’ve found out now, my weaknesses. I will never EVER force myself on a woman against her will. And I will do ANYTHING to save a child. So rest assured we never actually did …it. As much as I would have loved to.” Then just as they arrived at the relatives room de Blythe said “Will is a very lucky man. I hope he appreciates it.”

Chrissy’s parents were beside themselves with gratitude when de Blythe told them what had happened. Interrupting them he said “Look, I could not have saved Chrissy’s life without the work done by Professor Magnus and her invaluable research. Now if you’ll give her a moment she has something to tell you.”

After Helen had told the parents about the NIGs it was agreed that she would take them to meet the group as soon as the little girl was better. Back in his room de Blythe said to Helen “Now, before we part. Is there anything I can do? Do you want me to teleport you back to the Sanctuary?”

After Helen declined de Blythe’s offer the vampire reached into his pocket and produced a page unit. “If you ever need me use this and I’ll be with you as soon as possible. Meanwhile I promise you that somehow I will get Ashley separated from Melaven. I’m not sure how but I really believe that if I can work with Tesla we can crack the immortality code, revive the vampire race and separate those two.”

Before Magnus could respond de Blythe raised her right hand to his mouth, kissed it, let it go and then teleported out back to his home where he relaxed with some Tudor music on a CD while he drank some frozen human blood.

************
Ashley / Melaven

The Melaven side of her nature was to the fore when the antelope blood was drunk and she made a point of letting Tesla know what she thought of it.

After he left her she was even angrier than before and she yearned for some human blood. The Ashley side of her personality knew she could not attack and kill again without putting her whole existence into mortal danger and she knew it could finally alienate her from her mother.

By morning she really felt ill and in need of help. Thinking of Big Guy and Will and Henry she knew she needed company. It was at this stage she thought of Kate. Maybe she would know where there was some human blood or an artificial formula. Feeling tired she tried to lock into the essence of Kate and using the little energy she had left she teleported beside her.

“Hello Kate” she said “Fancy running into you.” As she said she lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor.

Kate

Kate jumped as she heard a voice by her as she walked back in from her walk and looking over in time to see Ashley or whoever she was fall. Trying to catch her she called out to Henry or Big Guy or Will as she tried to move Ashley to the medbay. Once there she managed to get her onto one of the beds and tried the intercom to call for Helen to see what she should do to help her. She remembered hearing what Helen said to look for with Tesla for when he needed blood and checking her eyes.

Um Magnus... Looks like Ashley or Melevan or whoever needs blood. She is here in the medbay... What do you want me to do?

Helen had just returned to her Sanctuary and hadn't even taken off her coat when she was called by Kate. "Um Magnus... Looks like Ashley or Melevan or whoever needs blood. She is here in the medbay... What do you want me to do?"

Helen replied while on her way to medbay. "I'll be right there but meanwhile go to the refrigeration area and look on the shelf below the medicine bottles, marked A-C. In the B area are stockpiles of O-Positive blood. They'll be clearly marked. Let me know if you see them. I suggest we create a cocktail using the mix I made for her yesterday which should still be in her own personally marked redfrigerated unit...but I would like to try adding twenty-five milligrams of human blood to it and warming to 98.6 degrees centigrade before serving it to her. I suspect she may need a slower weaning than we've been doing. A little extra human blood until we can work her down to none."

As she spoke she was already down the lift and walking at a brisk pace, nearly there. "Kate, Tell me each step of the way, what it is you're doing so we can be sure you understood. This isn't something we want to make mistakes in."

Ashley / Melaven

Ashley was lost, lost in a world of confused memories recalling the hard strict Victorian upbringing she had experienced. A total contrast to the Tudor upbringing Melaven had enjoyed and that in itself was creating conflict in her very being.

She loved her Mum, of course she did. But how she felt the restraints placed around her as a child, restraints that she had kicked against as a young teenager when she knew the sudden rush of hormones surging through her body. She resented being privately tutored at home until she was sixteen and sent to finishing school. It was only later she learned that many of her tutors, her house mistress, even her closest friend Andrea were paid by her mother to keep her under strict supervision.

In her confused unconscious state she relived her conversation with her other friend, Jenny, not one paid by Magnus but the daughter of a prominent politician. Jenny was two years older than Ashley and was like an older sister. In her vision she relived the day Jenny had stayed out until 5am and how she relied on Ashley to keep windows and doors open so she could get back into the room without being traced. Ashley remembered the large passion bite on Jenny’s neck and how Jenny had told her that she and Rob, her boyfriend, had finally done ‘it’ in the fields surrounding the school. Ashley was so curious and bombarded her friend with questions. Did it hurt? Did you ‘cum’? Was he considerate?

The next day Jenny told Andrea about her experiences and within days Jenny disappeared and was relocated in another school. To this day Ashley never knew if her mother had engineered the transfer to stop her daughter becoming corrupted by the world of sex.

It would be another two years before Ashley became a woman herself. She had taken a liking to one of the laboratory technicians Dave Hill who assisted the science Master. When she was seventeen they stole the first kiss and a year later after a tennis practice with a ball machine a storm broke out. Sheltering in the changing rooms Ashley heard a noise and saw Dave also sheltering. As the storm raged they cuddled and kissed and before long Ashley’s shirt and bra were on the floor. No one had ever touched her ripe young nipples before and she could feel the excitement building in her womanhood.

Too soon they reached the point of no return and Ashley’s tennis skirt was raised, her knickers removed and Dave was stripped naked. It hurt terribly as he destroyed her virginity and although she could feel some sort of excitement building the next sensation she experienced was a warm wet explosion inside as Dave emptied his semen inside her.

To make things worse Dave was a selfish lover and as soon as he was spent he lost interest. The next morning the whole school was talking about the events of the previous day as Dave told the world about his experience of deflowering his first virgin. Within days Dave was sacked and Ashley was returned to her mother’s care and after a negative pregnancy test the subject was not raised again. The next time Ashley’s body experienced sex was when as Ashley / Melaven she seduced young Kieran Warr before draining his body of blood.

Suddenly Ashley was leaving her trance state and regaining consciousness. Opening her eyes she focused on Helen and said “Hello Mum”. Immediately the Melaven side of her nature took over and she looked at Kate and shouted “YOU GOT ME MY BLOOD YET?”

Kate

She understood after all Magnus had always griped about her feeling she was just a hired gun or not as smart as the rest of them so she talked her way through it all till Magnus walked in and handed it over to her. She wan't the most comfortable n the lab and Magnus and the others helping her was always welcome but honestly she was glad Helen got there to take over this one. She had it all mixed up and warming as she stepped back to Magnus to take over.

Give her a Moment!!

Kate was getting over it very quickly. The one moment kind sweet Ashley and the next moment that arrogant bitch seemed to take over or whatever since they were allegedly one.

YOU seriously need to access Ashley's past here and know that there are always TONS of stuff going on here So back the HELL up off the boss and be glad there are people here who care and are willing to take care of and put up with you when you go all whiney Bitchy Temper tantruming 2 year old GOT IT! She is doing all she can to help you and put up with that teleporting Whoever his seems intent on causing you trouble. So SHUT YOUR BITCHING and be grateful for all the help we give and above all... treat your mom with more respect! Ashley you know how she beats herself up over everything give her a break.

With that Kate looked to Magnus as if she had not just blown up like that and smiled like nothing happened.

So what else ya need me to do Magnus? All the info from the Cabal lab we found has been loaded into the system even video that you might find interesting... Looks like tall bald and Gruesome caught them and showed them a thing or two

She shuddered remembering. Its pretty rough on Cabal side and his response to them.

Isis

Henry was worried about what she said but nodded as the kiss broke and he stared into her eyes not wanting to lose the closeness just yet.

I'll go with you in case there are any more abnormals out of that lab wandering around. If you need me to I can wait outside or at a safe distance out of earshot if I need to.

Offering up "puppydog" eyes as he smiled to her.

Isis smiled to him seeing those eyes and nodded with a slight laugh. It must be something that some men could employ with ease. She simply nodded.

Fine... but

He nodded I know just you and me will know Unless there is a problem then... I will have to tell them so we can properly help you.

Isis nodded and resting a hand on his ceek for a moment she smiled. Lets go.

She turned walking out of her home and shifting to HEP form and waited for him to do the same before taking off running much deeper into the wildlands and headding deep into what almost seemed like a primeevil forest untouched by man in centuries. Dodging through the trees she finally found the place she needed. The ancient almost human looking woman stood there and motioned them both past the bramble wall that circled her home so that she would be left alone unless needed.

Roger de Blythe

de Blythe sat by his laptop, opened his e mail account and typed in Helen Magnus’ address. He wrote:

Dear Helen

I am writing officially to thank you for the assistance you gave to the hospital in the treatment of little Chrissy King. It is no exaggeration on my part when I say that without your contribution that little girl would by now be dead. I had a long conversation with her parents today and they will be contacting the NIG shortly (I won’t be going with them – I don’t think they will want to see me).

Since we parted company I have been thinking about your daughter Ashley and the merging of personalities she has with my old Tudor lover Melaven. I have been studying the effects not only of this bizarre event but also the treatment she received at the hand of the Cabal. Before I can begin to consider the possibility of separating them I will need in the first instance to talk to your colleague Kate. However I will probably have to look at the research done by your colleague Nikola Tesla not only in vampire issues but also on the theory of temporal displacement. I leave that for you to establish a contact.

In closing I would like to say that I am not doing this for any other motive than trying to help a parent who is losing a child. As you know I know the pain of losing a daughter and I do not want any other parent to endure that suffering.

I look forward to hearing from you soon

Roger

After re reading the message de Blythe pressed the “send” button and awaited the reply.

Helen Magnus watched the scene before her with scientific interest and tried to tone down her maternal concern especially when it became quite apparent that the personality which was currently dominating her daughter's body was that Melaven woman. That, and she still was recalling the last thing she'd seen that woman in her child's body doing in this very room just the previous day and it was truly not making her feel at all comfortable in her presence at this moment. She was trying to put those things out of her mind, it was very hard to... not at all helped by the intercom buzzer and the announcement of the arrival of Nikola Tesla. "Bloody hell!" Magnus whispered as she handed the disgusting concoction to Ashley/Melaven who drank it greedily with the relish of someone having a free pina colada in a crappy hotel lobby.

She texted his phone to briefly explain what was happening and where everyone had gone. He told her he'd be down later if necessary but he was first going to check to see what the cook had made for lunch. Of course, this also rubbed her the wrong way. Typically self-involved, Nikola would rather fill his stomach on her dime than actually check on the health of the girl he'd recently used for his own momentary satisfaction. She thought he cared a bit more or could at least feign it sometimes enough to try to impress Helen herself but his choosing lunch over a medical emergency was a new low in selfish behavior even she couldn't ignore.

Adding to her headache was the text from Will announcing he was going to be entertaining Tesla and remain with him to keep him company in the dining room and for her to call him if she needed him. She'd been missing Will so much the past twenty-four hours and once Ashley was stabilized she'd had every intention of going to him to apologize for the night before and spend some much needed private time together but Nikola's over-bearing presence would most definitely ruin that chance for any private time now. ''Damn!" she whispered to herself, shoving her phone back into her back pocket in time to see Ashley looking much healthier than moments before.

"Alright, Ashley? How do you feel now?" she asked.

Kate was still staring at Helen with a look of mild worry and bemusement, having heard her boss curse to herself twice in less than a minute was unusual indeed and she was likely wondering what was so wrong in the world of usually perfectly poised Helen Magnus. Helen nodded to Kate but avoided eye contact. Now wasn't the best time to explain herself. Her head was all over the place at the moment.

Ashley / Melaven

Ashley looked at her mother and sighed “If only you knew how I feel, how my body, my whole psych is so turned in on itself. My memories are so confused, one moment I’m riding a horse with Roger de Blythe, next I’m fighting the Cabal, then I’m fighting you and then I’m being ‘staked’ by Roger. Mum, Mummy, I’m scared Mum.”

At this point the Melaven part of her nature kicked in “My only fear is that you are going to starve me to death. I need real blood not the piss you try to feed me.” Turning to Kate she grabbed her and pulled her down in an attempt to bite into her jugular but as she did the Ashley persona took over and she yelled out loud “Mum! Mum! Help me … stop me!” Then she cried out again “I was better off dead! How I wish I was dead! It’s so unfair! “

Tossing in her bed and crying Ashley seemed to be re living the terrible moments just before her death. “We saw her! She thought she was invisible! That Clara Griffin we had the power to see through her invisibility and we killed her! I KILLED HER!”

Suddenly the Melaven personality was to the fore again as she lay down “You know that memory of Ashley’s, I think I can live with that!” Taking a deep breath she suddenly looked at Kate “Get me … get me some blood or suffer the same fate! O how surprised she was … poor Clara she thought she was safe but she was only invisible to you!” She stared at Magnus “Ending her life was like taking a chicken to slaughter. So easy!”

With a violent convulsion she shook again and then a sane Ashley was back saying to her mother “Mummy … I’m sorry … tell Will I’m so sorry!” She pushed her head back down into the pillow and lapsed into unconsciousness.

Kate

Most would have been scared Kate just got pissed off. Ignoring Melevan Kate once she was able to looked to Magnus.

Want some lunch Magnus? I will go get you and I something to eat... maybe drag Tall dark and full of himself back here too.

Smiling she walked out of the room. Everyone gave in on some level to this Melevan maybe if she realized that she was just not worth worrying about to some she might step in line and its not like Helen would let her kill anyone from the Sanctuary anyways. She headed to the kitchen nodding to the cook she grabbed up food for Magnus and her usual tea. Not seeing Big Guy she looked to Tesla.

You wanna quit whatever sulking you are doing Fangs and Go help Ashley and Magnus fight the cranky little Melevan. Thought anything vampire had your full attention.

Getting the tray she turned to head back.

You would be able the only person who could stop her if Melevan decides to bite Magnus or anyone else and that seems where she is headed.

Isis

She followed the old woman who studied Henry for a moment or two.

He can travel with us too. You seek one who as passed... one of importance to your soul and heart... We will find them.

She guided them into a cave covered in markings and bones all calling to death and the beyond. She motioned for Isis to sit down and pointed to a chair on the opposite wall for Henry as she sat before Isis and began to "chant" growl speaking soft and fast as Isis sat there her eyes closed time seemed to fade from mind as she sat there the fire seemed to roar up tall and as if died down Isis seemed to pass out falling back against the ground.

Henry started to jump and move towards her but could not seem to move the old woman motioned for him to sit still and simply watch. Isis began talking though no sound came from her... Time passed but to Isis she was no longer in the cave she now stood on the tree lined lane where she stood talking with James. Was it a dream or had she really been able to reach him. A kiss and the closure of goodbye and an answer to something she would only share with the living in time she then awoke...

She felt heavy... ill... weak but at least back to life. She had been taken to the closest point near death without dying and now she would need to heal a little once more. The Toxin that was still in the cells however had returned tot he bloodstream. In many ways a good thing but still a problem in time. She slowly stood the old woman giving her a mug to drink from and once Isis strength was back the old woman nodded that they could leave. Isis walked to Henry and smiled reaching a hand to his cheek and kissing him softly.

Lets go home...

Magnus brushed her daughter's hair away from her forehead, leaning over her protectively. No matter what happened she couldn't completely detach herself. This was still her daughter, even in some part. She hoped de Blythe was correct in his assertion there would be a way to separate her from this Melaven character and still maintain her life and sanity. Helen feared this split in her psyche was going to cause irreparable damage to both women trapped in there if they weren't dealt with soon. Mixing up another O-pos-nutrient cocktail she warmed it and fed it to the semi conscious, mumbling person before her. Ashley drank more slowly this time and it seemed she was finally responding to the first draft, her color returning to normal and her vital signs stabilizing.

Half lidded eyes looked up from the drink long enough to meet with her own and she heard her daughter whisper, "I'm sorry for hurting you, mom. She made me do it. If it helps I think he's as ashamed as I am..."

Helen opened her mouth to answer but was afraid of what she might say. So, even if Melaven hadn't known, Ashley had been aware that she'd been there while she and Nikola had lost control...Helen ended up just shaking her head and sighing, "Ashley, stay with us. Fight her! Don't give up, darling, don't give up!" she urged in a whisper.
She knew Tesla would be down to add his expertise to the mix soon and as much as she welcomed his scientific and vampiric knowledge and help she dreaded the tension him being in the room with the two of them at once would bring. It wasn't a long wait for the tension to build. She looked up from her daughter's face to see the door opening and Kate intrepidly leading the way for both him and Will.

Damn! Will too!? Helen instantly knew she was to spend the next few moments burning in her own private hell.

Tesla's face was a mask of dark emotions mixed with a lack of rest and too much alcohol. He avoided eye contact with Helen and looked down at Ashley on the medical table with a mixture of guilt, pity and contempt. "No more human blood for her." he announced boldly. "She's a spoiled little wench and it's time she learn she won't be able to keep getting her way if she wants to be welcome among the rest of we civilized society."

Ashley / Melaven

Melaven laughed when she heard Tesla say she was to receive no more human blood. “The reject has an opinion. Did you know MOTHER DEAR that he has wanted to get into your frigid knickers since you were experimenting on yourselves?” Seeing Magnus look embarrassed she pressed home the subject “But when he heard you being screwed by the little boy Will he went for sweet innocent Ashley. But she wasn’t totally innocent was she Nik? Mama had been so controlling she gave her innocence to a lover even more selfish than you are!”

Seeing she was scoring points Melaven pressed on “Believe me Mother, you didn’t miss anything. This body” she ran her hands down her sides “is still very post virginal. Even with me to guide her Ashley has only ever been fucked four times and believe me old Nik here was the worst. Ashley is still very tight so Nik couldn’t control it. He just spilt himself deep inside not caring about us!”

By now the whole room was on edge and Melaven could see Tesla clenching and unclenching his fists. She continued hoping to provoke him to strike her “If he ever does have you Mother, don’t wear that nice black skirt. He leaks before he enters and you’ll get spunk stains down it. He’s not a patch on Roger. Now he really understands a woman’s needs. You should try him sometime” she looked at Helen and Kate. “He makes love making like a four course meal and he only allows himself to surrender to his own needs when his woman is reaching her peak. If you want him you’d better hurry because next time I see him I’m going to kill him. But I might let him have me one more time. For old time’s sake. What do they say Mother? Em oh yes ‘Hurry while stocks last!’ You want to be fucked by a real man? Act quickly because he aint got long to live!”

Making a mock turned down lower lip to simulate sorrow Melaven looked at Tesla “It will be such a loss to you because he probably is the only vampire left with some original blood left in him. I had some but now it’s polluted by little Miss Pseudo Virginity who shares her body with me.”

Then Melaven turned to Will “But she can have her moments. Did you know Ashley had an evil streak in her? Your sweet little lover Clara thought her invisibility protected her! But Ashley could see her standing there as naked as the day she was born. The Cabal gave her special powers so your ‘invisible girl’ was visible to sweet Ashley. O How Clara fought that day then Ashley finally made her beg, plead for her life before she just said ‘NOT TODAY!’ She killed her with one single thrust into her heart. “Seeing Will get angry she pressed on “But don’t worry Will. You can always fuck Mummy. Or Kate if you’re really desperate!”

By now the tension could be cut with a knife so Melaven said “You want me to stop? Then give me my blood, REAL BLOOD! Before I forget I’m a lady and get really nasty!”

Kate

She was about at the end of her understanding and patience with this arrogant little bitch. Never having been a parent she wondered if even to Magnus it was no longer worth the resemblance to Ashley. She knew this had to be hard on Magnus and did her best to focus on Magnus and not the vermin Melevan. Her hand rested on a stunner on the side away from Ashley/Melevan ready to help protect Magnus and the others. She could care less about the talk of sex and who should fuck who though for a split second she thought about Declan.

As if on cue Declan walked down to the labs looking for Kate or Helen. Seeing what was going on he moved protectively to Kate and Magnus watching Ashley and Melevan.

Magnus... I could get a hold of Druitt if you think maybe her father showing up and assisting in this problem. Before you say anything Nikola yes I know he told YOU not to let on that you knew where he was... he did not in fact say that to me.

Isis

It took a while but they were back. Isis sniffed at the air and catching the scent of blood snarled and followed it She did not see anyone not even Big Guy and snarled faintly. Henry just followed her seeing the anger smelling the blood and growled too as the thought.

The Lab... Ashley...Melevan whoever the heck she is...

With that name mentioned Isis snarled again even though in human form. She took off running ignoring the lift she headed to the old stairs and began leaping her way down from handrail to handrail with Henry following as best he could.

She finally made her way to the lab her own teeth and claws ready though still looking mostly human. Eyes narrow as she watched what was going on. Hearing Declan offer to call Druitt and snarled and moved to her oldest friend near sister Helen's side looking around at all of them. Henry caught up but hung back with Tesla and Will

What the hell...

He muttered watching what was going on but a faint unconscious smile on his lips watching Isis protective nature.

Helen was too shocked to be able to respond to anything but Declan's comment, "You...know where he is? You BOTH know? " Slamming her fist on the nearest table she stormed away from the assembled group in the more-and-more clausterophobic feeling room and faced the wall at the other end of the med-bay to try to compose herself. "Fucking TYPICAL!" she cursed through gritted teeth in a very un-Helen-ly way drawing shocked gasps from the group behind her and not particularly caring at the moment.

Tesla

'Reject' ? She dare call me, genius and strategist, a reject? I'm not the reject, little girl. Nicola was already defending himself and his honor against her words in his mind. Before he could verbally come to his own amazing self's defense, she continued.

Now she began insulting his stamina, which was a total lie. He was superior in ALL aspects, his stamina was like no other and sexual stamina was no different. As her words began to hit, his fists clenched and unclenched and he fought back the urge to allow his emotions to overcome him, forcing his vampiric self to the surface. Then she mentioned Roger; the only other with Vampire blood still seemingly pure like his own. She had a point....he would come in handy, especially if Tesla could study it. No, she wouldn't be allowed to kill him, Nicola wouldn't let her.

As her tirade continued, Tesla noticed the stunner in Kate's grip and a smug grin crossed his lips. "Alright I've had about enough of this. Time for your beauty rest little princess." She began shouting about blood and, with his vampiric reflexes, snatched the device from Kate's grip and filled Ashley or whatever was using her as a meat suit full of currents until no more words came from her lips. "You've already forgotten your a lady, trust me I know." Nicola glanced around the room at all the eyes on him and rolled his eyes.

"What? Don't give me that 'what are you doing' look. The little bitched deserved it. I'll never understand why you humans must have such uncivilized tongues, honestly." No one so much as blinked or changed expressions. "Yes, Helen, I knew. Of course I knew. Even if he didn't ask me to keep it from everyone, you think I would tell you so you could go off and put your own life in danger in a failed crusade to find him? I know you better than that, Helen." He looked around at everyone and scoffed. "Fine, you know what? I'm going down to the cellar to find a lovely bottle of something old and aromatic so I can enjoy this silence while it lasts. If anyone figures out a way to fix this little problem, leave me out of it." Tesla turned to head to the exit and stopped. "Oh, wait, you can't leave me out of it; because you all need my genius to normalize her. You know where to find me." With that, Nicola Tesla made his exit, mumbling under his breath the whole time about the lies and mockery that came from Ashleys mouth.
