Tesla

Nicola simply smirked at her question. "I think you know all too well what you've done, and no; I'm not talking about Henry." He saw her expression change just slightly. "Oh, come on, his scent is all over you little Isis. Don't worry, though, I suspect the only other person that might have figured it out is that neanderthal of an assistant they have. He's got quite a nose on him as well." He took a sip of wine and placed the glass down on his work table.

He glanced at her, waiting for her to admit to something. When that admittance didn't come, he rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Come on, Isis....a Deathspeaker?" He saw her eyes widen suddenly. "Of all the things you could have saught out...." He stopped in mid sentance, her glance giving him pause. "What? You can't be surprised." Tesla pointed to himself. "Um, Vampire here. One of the oldest races here on earth? Surely you aren't surprised that I know about those...those things. I just want to know why? What did you get out of it? More importantly....what did the Deathspeaker get out of it?"

Druitt

Montague John Druitt; a name that once had meaning, purpose. It was a name that, once upon a time; held the love of Helen Magnus. It was also a name that would be doomed to hold as much fear and dispair as it did love. John Druitt, or better known to those who feared him as 'Jack the Ripper' was respected and feared. Hated and loathed. So why, then, when he found himself looking through the viewing window at the motionless body of his daughter Ashley, did he feel helpless? Was it because no ammount of anger and rage and spilling of Cabal blood in revenge could do nothing to remove his sorrow and grief? Was it because no ammount of love he had for Helen or shared for Ashley could remove the blood he spilt in the name of 'revenge' ?

No. Montague John Druitt felt helpless because he was a father who could do nothing for a child he barely got to know the existance of before her life was snatched away from her. A child he helped create with a woman he loved, still loved. None of his anger or vengance or abilities could do anything for her. They entered the infirmary and Druitt walked to stand near her bed.

"Somehow, her body and conciousness have all gotten tangled up with this Tudor age vampiress, Melaven." Helens words fell on Johns ears, but he was barely listening as thoughts swirled about the darkness in his mind, pushing it aside.

"Not a nice character. Poor Ashley...I wouldn't want to share an elevator with this woman and she has to share her body and mind...We're trying to figure out a safe way to either separate them or exercise Melaven from Ashley's mind but not sure yet how to do so without risking harm to Ashley." Will tried to give his own words of explanation.

Druitt reached his hand out and stroked the side of Ashley's cheek. "I was cruel to her on more than one occasion...then again, who haven't I been cruel to?" With those words, he left the room to stand outside, to gather his thoughts. The others followed as the Big Guy entered. "John..." Helen began but Druitt cut her off. "Helen, don't. I'm just glad that she's here....that she's been returned to us, in some form or another." He was about to say more when the Big Guy left and Druitt quickly pushed his way back into the room.

He looked down at her again, wondering what was going on inside her head. I have to do something....anything. This is unnacceptable. He turned to Helen and she opened her mouth but Druitt held up a hand to quickly silence her. He knew that look in her eyes, that look of pity, and dispised it. Montague John Druitt did not take pity...not from anyone. "We have to do something. I know you are trying to figure out a way to safely seperate them, but science is not my forte. I can't just wait around doing nothing while the others go about their ways of technology and science. I want results, Helen, not more waiting. Call me simple minded, but I've always been a man of instant gratification."

He walked from Ashley's bedside and turned to face Helen and Will once more. "I'm sorry Helen, I can't stay here. I'll be in touch if something comes up." With one last sorrowfull glance past Helen to their daughter Ashley, he dissapeared in a swirling storm of red energy.

Isis

Yes... a deathspeaker... What did I get... Closure and confirmation. Surely you know who I had her help me speak to. Unlike you I did not get to be there when James finally died Nicola. I simply needed to get closure and in getting closer I learned something I in a way already knew.

Pouring another glass of wine and slamming the drink down in a futile wish that it would some how make it stronger. Setting the glass down she shook her head.

When I returned to my people to to help them during WWII They figured out something concerning me that I had not realized and in the guise of a "test" they removed what they felt was a problem. I was apparently pregnant so in the elders "infinite" wisdom and staunch desire to protect our kind they destroyed the child while still in womb shredding all trace and nearly killing me. I think I knew thats part of why I was so dark and ruthless for a time when I got back. On the other side though James knew understood. Maybe thats why I have such a caring spot for little cub. Even though she is full grown and housing whoever that Melaven being is.

She shook her head the past was of little concern nor worry just a burden she had carried and now knew she was right so now even more healing could happen in her mind and soul.

None but you know this Nicola and NO ONE will ever know... got it? As for what the Deathspeaker got from this... My protection. She is older than most of her kind and feels no need for the old payments.

Telling someone though she did seem a little "lighter" in her spirit. Smiling now she looked back to Nicola and laughed.

Though I am surprised that you do not have one of your usual sarcastic remarks or ever entertaining ramblings about my being with Henry. Honestly... its strange... it was... all I can think of is Kinship... some connection... In a strange way its like James all over again just that comfort and connection from the first moment. Though that first moment was him helping Kate get me to the medbay to remove the toxin from a sick Calisar hounds bites.

She was sure that he had picked up the scent too. The unmistakable scent of John's arrival. If Helen needed her she knew she would not hesitate to radio for her or someone would. She would wait till later to reveal her presence in Sanctuary to John. Their relationship had always been one of healthy respect and civil tongues for the sake of Helen. He was a strange individual, she trusted him to a point but there was that darkness that she could in someways relate to a darkness that at first was not understood. She and John had, had their fights and neither was willing to back down nor pull any punches not wishing to insult the other by not giving 100%. This time she was sure was a time she could trust him as it was Ashley and her return that was bringing him here.

A simple glance to Nicola as she dismissed all other thoughts continued her visit with a old friend.

So what about you My friend? What all have you been up to since last our paths crossed?

Will smirked at the irony despite the bad taste if it when he heard the end of Druitt's speech,

"...I want results, Helen, not more waiting. Call me simple minded, but I've always been a man of instant gratification."

"Yeah...instant gratification..." Will started to say, the sarcastic remark at the tip of his tongue before Helen cut him short with one quick glare.

"Not now, Will."

Doctor Will Zimmerman sighed, crossed his arms and leaned on the wall willing to wait as he watched the brilliant and beautiful Helen Magnus try once more to think of a solution to her daughter's conundrum. "I'm sorry. But, lately I feel a little...useless, myself."

Helen barely looked at him over her shoulder as she reread the readouts on the medical screen before her, "Yes, Darling, that seems to be going around quite a lot these days." she remarked wryly.

He shook his head and smiled, "I guess we all are." He crossed the room and placed his hands on her shoulders, far too tense already considering he'd only gotten her to relax less than a half hour ago. "Whatever you need, know you will get it. If not from me, certainly I can wrangle up help from one of the other helpless idiots in your gravitational pull...we'll figure this out somehow." He was pleased he'd managed to get her to smile at the ''gravitational pull'' part and kissed her on the cheek. "Would you like me to get you some tea?" he asked trying to think of ways to be helpful.

"Yes, Will, thank you. Tea would be marvelous...and perhaps could you handle business calls for the rest of the day? I'd like to focus." Helen said in an already distracted tone, work was on the brain again, a problem to solve, lives to save. This, Will realized, was what made Helen Magnus tick.

He smiled and nodded, backing out of the room, "Of course. You know how I LOVE extra work...but, for you, anything." and he left Helen alone to silently commune with the spirit of her trapped daughter.

As Helen waited for Ashley to return to consciousness and studied what she could about vampire physiology (as if she hadn't already memorized it through the years with Nikola and all of his various attempts at re-birthing his mother-race...) to search for any possible clues in this problem she might have been missing before. An hour and a half went by and she'd worked, drank tea and talked some of it out with Will as a sounding board to no true avail, and re-examined every bit of information she could possibly use in Ashley's situation until finally deciding to take another break.

She stood up and stretched, walked around the medical bay with her favorite music playing from the computer's speakers and tried to think of something else for a while to distract and exercise her weary mind, doing equations and reciting poetry in various languages in her head purely for the change of subject for a few minutes.

She then sat back at her work station and did a deep breathing exercise before lowering the music volume and heading for her email. Something from Roger de Blythe caught her attention and she opened it to read.

'Dear Helen

I am writing officially to thank you for the assistance you gave to the hospital in the treatment of little Chrissy King. It is no exaggeration on my part when I say that without your contribution that little girl would by now be dead. I had a long conversation with her parents today and they will be contacting the NIG shortly (I won’t be going with them – I don’t think they will want to see me).

Since we parted company I have been thinking about your daughter Ashley and the merging of personalities she has with my old Tudor lover Melaven. I have been studying the effects not only of this bizarre event but also the treatment she received at the hand of the Cabal. Before I can begin to consider the possibility of separating them I will need in the first instance to talk to your colleague Kate. However I will probably have to look at the research done by your colleague Nikola Tesla not only in vampire issues but also on the theory of temporal displacement. I leave that for you to establish a contact.

In closing I would like to say that I am not doing this for any other motive than trying to help a parent who is losing a child. As you know I know the pain of losing a daughter and I do not want any other parent to endure that suffering.

I look forward to hearing from you soon

Roger
'

She took a long look at her daughter's sleeping form before typing a response to Roger's mail.

'Roger,

No need to thank me for the help where Chrissy King is concerned. I am, after all, still a doctor at heart and would always much rather save a life than take one. In regards to the need for information from Kate Freelander and Mister Tesla, I suggest you come to visit in the spirit of true collaboration at your nearest convenience. Of course, given you're being formally invited I do expect the behavior and decorum of a guest. No more surprises, please.

I believe you have my phone number to call if you need any further clarification but you know the address already and also you know, basically we're here, we're stuck, and if you would like to add your knowledge to the mix of those working on this problem together I don't see how it could harm the situation.

Try to behave until then,

Sincerely,
Helen'

Tesla

Of course. She wanted to say her goodbyes to John. Watson and her had always had an understanding on a level he was never quite sure of. It made sense. There was usually always a price to pay though for the....services...of a Deathspeaker. Tesla didn't say anything to interrupt his feline friend as she poured another glass and then continued.

When Isis dropped the bomb on Tesla , he found himself at a loss for words. Genuine sorrow filled his face for a moment as she told him of her destroyed child. Then her features grew serious again as she made it gravely clear that this information was to be kept between the two of them. "Come now, keeping secrets is like second nature to me. You can rest assured that no one will know except those you wish to tell yourself. It must have been hard though....I am sorry for your loss." Nikola gave her a smile, his attempts at calming the tension before moving on to other things. "An old Deathspeaker eh? They're all rather old, aren't they? This one must have been particularly well aged to give you a freebie. I'm glad no harm to came to you."

Tesla smirked slyly as she mentioned Henry and herself. "Don't be so surprised. I don't always have something sarcastic or bad to say about every situation, and besides; I just kind of assumed that everyone knew the apocalypse was drawing near, what with dogs and cats suddenly living in harmony and all. Who am I to go around heralding the obvious?" Nikola winked and took another sip of wine and noticed the change of static and electrons in the air ; a tell tale sign that Druitt had arrived. Every teleporter disrupted a particular charge, a particular signal before their energy signal became displaced in space, and Nikola knew Druitts signal well as of late...it was partially his doing that helped Druitt to alter that very signal so that he could slip past the EM shield that protected the Sanctuary.

He was brought out of his thoughts when Isis shifted the conversation to Tesla himself. "Dear me, since last our paths crossed? Oh I've been quite the busy vampiric serbian since then." Nikola sat forward as he began recounting some of the adventures with Helen and the Five, before the attack that ultimately claimed almost half their lives. "Oh..and the best part, I was powerless for a short while. My vampire gene was chemically made dormant again. You could imagine how I felt; until I realized I could do this." Tesla held his hand out towards an iron candle holder on the opposite end of his desk and it flew into his hand. "Somehow, the alteration caused me to be able to manipulate and control magnetic fields along with the usually electric current abilities. Comes in handy."

He sat back in the chair, attempting to grow comfortable once again. "Got my powers back shortly after....though the whole ordeal has kind of made me a bit skepticle of my ancestors. Helen and I found the queen of my race...she had been imprisoned along with her vampire army. It was her blood that restored me to my proper self." Tesla gave a bit of a sigh and continued. "I would have pledged myself to her cause and we could have ruled the world together if she hadn't turned out to be a crazy bitch. She tried to kill me, you know?" Nikola shook his head of the thoughts that left a sour taste in his mouth. "Either way, Helen and I burried her and her damned army in the tomb we found her in...hope she stays that way too. The earth only needs one vampire ruler, and we all know who that's going to be." Nikola stood and stretched a bit. "So...had enough wine? If I remember your tastes well enough, you probably want something a bit harder, no? Old English perhaps? Jack Daniels? I'm sure there's something down her to suit your less sophisticated tastes." He grined and winked at her.

Isis

Isis smirked when he commented about Dogs and Cats living in harmony. She was glad she could talk with Nikola it distracted her from the ingrained instinct to go and keep an eye on Druitt while he was around Helen. Hearing him agree to keep the secret relaxed her a little. Finding out something that she suspected was helpful and she was sure that there would be more cost from the Deathspeaker but the old woman was a "friend" if her kind knew what those were and she did protect the old woman.

When the child was taken from her it also gave her a window into the darkness that consumed so many. In a way that was helpful in a way she worried she could go back to that darkness and that worried her. She was glad that he finally answered about himself. She sat back listening intently as he talked about losing himself in a manner of speaking and regaining it. She smiled glad he was back to his old self again. A brow raised as the magnetic ability was displayed.

Well I am sure that that comes in handy and some crazy fellow vampire try to kill you? I'm shocked... Really... Nikola I am.

She smiled biting back a chuckle in an attempt to look even teasingly shocked. At the mention of Jack Daniels she smirked...

Yeah... if you think your sensitive little tastebuds can handle it?

Laughing she looked around for a bottle of bourbon.

Kate

Kate finally made her way down to check on Ashley Declan and Magnus. Walking around the corner into the door and seeing Druitt there she stopped dead in her tracked...

Whoa when did he get here? Should I go get Isis or Tesla?

She saw that Magnus seemed alright with his presence and he did seem focused on Ashley and not killing anything. She had seen what had to be his handy work in that Cabal lab in the Wildlands... Dude was clearly good at what he did and had a vindictive streak a mile wide at least. She could understand why he had done it. Thats when they thought Ashley was dead because of the Cabal. Well there was never a dull moment dealing with this place and its ancient people.

She looked around not seeing Declan and decided to reman close incase anything happened that somesort of back up was needed. Not that she could do that much but she would sure as hell try. This place was her home and they were all in some way like family to her.

Looking at the e mail de Blythe sent an urgent message to the senior executives at the hospital informing them he would not be available for the next few weeks except in dire emergency. He then wrote a reply to Magnus.

Dear Helen

Thank you for your reply and invitation to work with you in helping both Ashley and Melaven to live separate lives. Before I arrive I would like you to extract primary DNA from both yourself and John Druitt. This will enable me to isolate Ashley’s physical cells from Melaven’s so I can grow a culture in your cellular lab and begin to build a physical body for her consciousness. For my own needs I will require a daily supply of two litres of human blood (any group).

It is essential I also have access to the files held by Tesla which will enable me to extract the rejuvenative serum from the vampire strain to repair damaged cells threatening both women.

Meanwhile could you please arrange for Ashley / Melaven to be gently restored to full consciousness so I can immediately work with them in this programme.

I intend to arrive by teleportation in your board room as soon as you inform me by text (you have my number) that you are waiting for me. Please assure your staff that although we have got off to a bad start previously I have no malicious intent. In fact I look forward to working with them for many years to come.

Yours Sincerely

Roger

After checking the spelling de Blythe sent the message and awaited the reply.

OOC: Smooth...

IC:

Helen sent the text with the ok before even sending the special requests he'd need in a forwarded email to her staff, Tesla and Isis. If John would only carry a phone or check email every once in a while she would've bothered to forward it to him as well but it seemed he would just remain out of the information loop for the time being until Nikola or Declan would contact him about the new developments.

Helen initiated the medications necessary to begin wearing Ashley's sedatives off a bit faster. Hopefully, at this rate she'd be awake within the hour. Helen then turned toward the door and she waited, leaning on Ashley's bed, arms crossed over her chest in mild expectation, feeling mild annoyance that her EM shields seemed useless these days as she listened for the alarm that the EM shields have been compromised yet again to sound off.

"Helen?..." asked Will's voice over the intercom.

"It's only de Blythe, Will. I'll be in the board room in less than 5. Please send someone to meet him there while I'm on the way." she said, setting the security code to lock the door behind her as she left the med bay.

Kate

Buzzing in on the intercom Kate said she would head that way and wait for their guest. Grabbing a 9mm and a stunner she would be nice but ready in case of trouble. Heading to the "board room" she nodded.

Hello Magnus will be here in a minute.

With that she leaned back against the wall just inside the door and waited.

Declan got the text and moved his work to a data pad he knew Kate could take care of her self but he got the feeling from the beginning that this guy was trouble and probably should not be trusted any further than the HEPs or Tesla could throw him.

Isis

Seeing the message that was sent to her and the others Isis openly snarled seeing De Blythe's name. He had offered no reason beyond words to trust him and seemed to be the cause of a lot of the stress that Melaven was causing Ashley. Looking to Tesla for his reaction to this ancient vampire apparently being a welcome guest now. She trusted Helen but she also knew that Helen's judgement would be clouded with the desire to help Ashley. That left Tesla herself and the others to protect Helen from Helen and De Blythe. At least Druitt was there and he would be an asset not to mention it should make intresting security footage if She Tesla Henry and Druitt had to rip this vamp to ribbons to protect Helen.

Well Nikola it would appear we have a reason to join the others now... She attempted to plaster a civil smile across her lips as she stood and turned towards the door.

Henry got the message and his mind went straight to the tenuous restraint that Isis had on her more protective and combative nature last time and took off running to get to the Board room before her if he could.

Ashley / Melaven

Ashley heard and felt her mother and was determined that, if it was within her power, Melaven would take a back seat. She heard all the insults pouring from her mouth and felt the stun blast render her helpless. She heard her father and the Big Guy speaking to her and she wanted to respond but her head felt like she had been on a pub crawl for a week and she was gasping for fluid to quench her raging thirst.

Opening her eyes she tried to speak but could only whisper “Mom … Mummy I’m thirsty, I need a glass of water.” Then before Helen could respond she said “Mum … I’m frightened. I’m … sorry … “

Unable to control herself any further she just started to sob.

Roger de Blythe

As soon as de Blythe received Magnus’ ‘ok’ he shut his computer down, went to his office and discussed the ‘live’ cases with his staff. Afterwards he willed himself into the Sanctuary board room and next minute he was there just in time for Henry to come bursting through the door.

Turning to him he said “You really must get that EM shield fixed. You never know who might drop in.” They were soon joined by Isis and Tesla as de Blythe raised his hand in civil mock self-abasement. “I know we got off the wrong start and I’m sorry. But since then the Professor and I have worked together in saving a little girl’s life. Now I want to work with you all in separating Ashley from Melaven.” Looking round the room he said “That’s something I guess we all can agree on. So …” He looked for agreement “Truce?”

Biggie had been nearby, watching the monitor on Ashley Magnus's room carefully for any signs of her awakening. No one else was there at the moment Ashley woke up because of the meeting in the board room where de Blythe had just arrived.

So, when she woke up and started sobbing it was he who was there to comfort her. He sat beside the bed, holding her hand as he carefully put the glass of water to her lips and helped the trembling girl drink. "Here. And, I brought you some more of your O positive cocktail and a sandwich, B.L.T. just how you used to like it."

She took the tray shakily and he helped her set the legs of it down around her lap so the contents wouldn't spill all over. When she paused and looked down at everything on it he grunted and his tone was more forceful the second time he ordered her to, "Drink. Eat."

The Big Guy watched carefully while Ashley ate and then took the tray from her. Tidying her pillows and adjusting the fan to keep her cool he said "Just wait now and if you need some sleep take it. Your mother is arranging for some help that I believe could benefit both of you. So rest."

Adjusting the light to smooth sleep mode and arranging for some relaxing bird song to be played gently he kissed the young girl's forehead and left the room.

Making his way to to the boardroom he pushed the door open and with a grunt interrupted the conversation "Doctor de Blythe, I'm just a simple ape, a throw back to some missing link. But I'm capable of love and loyalty. And I have love and loyalty for Doctor Magnus and her daughter. What I'm trying to say is I'm gtrateful for you giving your time and expertise to help them. And because of that I can say I like you. Thank you."

Turning to go he stopped to say "But if you harm them or betray them in any way I won't like you any more. I hope I've made myself clear because I am a good friend. But a terrible enemy. So ... good luck, and I hope we can remain friends for many years to come."

Kate

She just stood back noting every snipe veiled in apology and attempted "friendship". Moving over some as Henry burst through she was wondering why he was in such a hurry other than clearly no one trusted this guy and everyone was there to protect Magnus. She just stood back and waited to see what would happen for now but keeping a running tab of it all. She smiled to Big Guy as he spoke... Seeing he was willing to trust for now but still that trust was not blind. It seemed he offered his trust and friendship as a carrot... incentive to keep things genuine and friendly. Interesting approach.

Declan arrived right behind Henry and hung back as well for now as this was not his Sanctuary but he would be damned if he was going to let anyone bring any harm or trouble to this one. Nodding to Kate and Henry and the Big Guy he watched De Blythe for a moment before returning to his work on the data pad till the others arrived.

Will wanted very much to be with everyone in the board room but had to cover for Helen in a phone call with the Sanctuary in China. Apparently, there were some issues with their funding for an addition to their facility. They didn't understand why Magnus had denied their request for an extra few million dollars in order to build an indoor tropical rainforest. But, he recalled her reason for this clearly from their last staff meeting. Over the past twenty years she'd noticed several members of the head staff there had taken their private holidays in tropical locations. She had put two and two together and decided she wouldn't spend five million Sanctuary-use dollars so that some Chinese fat-cats could take mini-holidays on every lunch break. The usual jungle facilities used in all the other Sanctuaries for the residents who needed such things would do just fine for now. An indoor tropical rainforest to the degree and scale they had asked for was just an unnecessary extravagance.

Helen entered the board room with Ashley/Melaven's medical file in her left hand and her right hand ready to shake de Blythe's. "Welcome, Roger. Are you ready to get to work?" she asked, not wasting time on pleasantries with her daughter at stake.

Reaching out his hand to grasp Helen’s de Blythe said “Thank you Helen, and yes it is important we get down to work straight away. Tell me what has been happening.” After he heard about Melaven’s outburst and what had happened he opened the file and read the notes.

Taking a deep breath de Blythe looked round the room and became serious. “I’m not going to pretend for one moment that this is going to be easy. It’s going to be the most difficult operation I have ever performed and it is fraught with risks. Risks which may be too costly. So, let me say here and now if at any time I feel there is a danger of us losing our patient if we proceed I shall immediately stop the treatment and we will have to accept that Ashley and Melaven will never be separated. Is that understood?” Looking round he saw every head nod so he continued. “Right, please take me to the patient.”

On the way down to the medical centre de Blythe said to Helen “I will need a tissue sample from Ashley / Melaven and then the samples I asked you for in my E Mail. Now I expect the Melaven side of the patient to be hostile to me. It’s expected, after all I not only had her for my lover, I turned her into a vampire and then back in those dark days I destroyed her. She has every right not to trust me.”

In the medical room the patient was lying calmly before Helen and de Blythe entered. Then all hell let loose as Melaven became disturbed “Get that Fucker out of here” she said with quiet venom “he has destroyed me once. Don’t let him do it again.”

“This is not all about you” de Blythe said calmly “you owe it to your host to remain calm while Ashley’s mother takes a tissue sample.” He nodded to Magnus who gently approached and took the sample of blood and tissue.

Not wasting any more time de Blythe said to Helen “Take me to your main laboratory and help me begin a culture growth.” The work went long into the night and despite their previous differences the two scientists worked together assisted by the Big Guy and other members of the team.

Just before dawn was breaking de Blythe banged on the table “FUCK!” He cried out. “I feared this would happen. Helen, you wouldn’t by any stretch of imagination have stored away any tissue samples from before ‘the five’ injected themselves? Because unless anyone has a time machine” he said with a resigned laugh “I can’t think of another way of getting back to your pure pre vampiric state.” With a deep sigh he continued “It’s not the end of the world if you don’t, but it will make our task a lot easier if you do.”

OOC : Everyone please forgive me. What with the holiday and extra responsibilities at work, I wont be able to properly respond to anything until friday/saturday . I wish this wasn't the case as this thread goes quickly and I normally enjoy that. I just can't currently keep up. Feel free to move my characters along or simply mention them and allow me room to elaborate their actions/comments when I can.

Isis

She hung back for now but kept an eye on De Blythe and Druitt. Civil as always but ready if things got out of hand. She moved from time to time over to Ashley and smiled down at her. speaking some to encourage her to remain calm.

You are doing good Little Cub... both of you are doing good...

She would not sleep any time soon as she continued to watch over everything. Occasionally talking to Druitt both concerned about Ashley and Druitt fishing for what brought her back from her seclusion to the Sanctuary.

Henry started to walk over to Isis and Druitt almost protective about it till Tesla shook his head no to him and Henry sighed and went back to his work still keeping an eye on her though just in case.

Kate

Leaping up from where she had slumped against the wall asleep when De Blythe yelled out. She was looking around hand resting on the 9mm till she realized that it was just exasperation over what they had been working on for hours. At least it woke her up for a bit as Declan tried to convince her to go get some sleep and he would let her know if they needed her help. Kate shook her head no and just headed to the Kitchen for drinks and snacks for everyone that ate food. Getting a large cup of coffee for herself she loved the smell of the various Teas that Magnus and the others kept around but she needed something a little stronger so coffee it was.

No problem. It's been a rough week for us all. A little break until friday isn't horrible. If things pick up before then I will do a bit of Tesla, Druitt writing, ok?

"What is this I hear, but a fellow admirer of my work?" Nicola Tesla asked as he appeared, moving like the jaguar he could be when necessary, her stalked past the others to stand before the slightly shorter man and look him straight in the eye. "Tissue samples?" he repeated with a sly look to Helen to check her expression before replying, "We had it, tissue and blood samples from each of us. Then we decided to destroy them for the greater good along with the original source blood sample. I was there with the others when we all watched Helen burn what was left...But, she doesn't know I've always had my own samples, and I've maintained them well hidden even now."

"Nicola! How could you!?"

Now risking a look at Magnus he saw pure fury in her expression. He put his hands up placatingly and began, "Helen, please, let's not make a scene, I had my reasons for not trusting you back then..."

"So you lied? You stole from us, from me?"

He shrugged, only mildly bothered by the last part. "A little...but I had hoped to have done much better with it by now than I actually have thereby disarming your indignant anger by producing some wonderfully amazing cure for some horrible disease or anti-aging serum, or at least have resurrected the vampire race and become their King..."

Helen shoved him and he let her take her anger out ineffectually on him in a physical way. She was kind of hot when she was angry and he loved imagining her being rough with him, especially in a sexual way...He smiled smugly as he let his thoughts wander into the gutter while she exploded into a tirade of curses. When she seemed to have run out and calmed down a bit more he looked down at her beautifully flushed face and asked, "Are you about finished now?"

"I haven't decided yet." she replied coolly.

"Anyway..." Nicola continued, turning his back on the furious Helen Magnus to explain further to de Blythe, "I've spent some time with that Melaven chick, man, what an annoying bitch! I can see now why you've wanted to kill her all this time. But, back to the research. What do you need? For a few favors I could possibly help you out."

OOC: Ok, break time is over, guys. Can we get the plot moving some more again? Any newcomers want to join too? We were doing so well, let's not waste all the good work.

OOC: ((Count on regular posting to start from me again come friday/saturday....towards the end of this week. ))

“I don’t know you but I assume you are the one they call Tesla” de Blythe answered while still checking some findings “but you’ll have to excuse me, I don’t have time for niceties when someone’s child is at stake.” Looking at Helen he said “The good Doctor helped me save the life of a young patient. In return I am here to help her separate her daughter from Melaven.” Holding Tesla’s gaze he said “Give me the samples, I’ll only need a cell or two, and after I have given Doctor Magnus her daughter back I’ll assist you on what you want. Only don’t waste my time because every second is precious.”

Back in the medical centre Ashley stirred as visions of her capture and mistreatment by the Cabal flooded her consciousness. Staggering out of bed she pulled the monitors from her chest causing body monitoring alarms to sound while the monitors lit up like Blackpool Seafront. As she forced her way passed the security the Melaven side of her nature came to the fore and she made her way towards the laboratory.

In the laboratory de Blythe immediately stopped working as he saw the monitors. Seeing the pulse monitors ‘flat line’ he turned to Magnus and Tesla “Stop any bickering now, it seems our patient is in difficulty. Helen, come with me while we see what’s happening.”

As he spoke the door flew open and Melaven entered staring round the room. Focusing on Tesla and de Blythe she said slowly “My two favourite men, my creator” she said looking at de Blythe “and my fucker!” She snarled at Tesla “Not my lover, just a quick bonk”. Turning to Kate she said “Stairway to Heaven was playing as he entered. It was all over before the guitar solo finished!” With those words she swayed and collapsed unconscious into Helen’s arms.

Looking at Tesla de Blythe said “OK I know she’s rotten to the core, but she and I are the nearest you’ll ever get to originals so we are all you have. Help me save her and Ashley Magnus and I’ll work with you on your project. Deal?” Looking at Magnus de Blythe could see she was not totally happy with the offer so he said to her gently “It’s our only hope. Remember Churchill once said he would make a pact with Lucifer if it defeated the Nazis!”

“Lucifer?” Tesla said teasingly “Doctor de Blythe you flatter me!” And withy that he produced two small sealed containers with the tissue samples in them.

Looking at Helen de Blythe said “Can you get someone to take her back” pointing at Ashley “and get them to strap her in.” After security had removed the unconscious girl de Blythe took the samples from Tesla, placed them in a sterile container and with Magnus began the filtering and experimentation. Four hours later he opened a third sealed dish with tissue from the conjoined Ashley / Melaven. “Now” he said to Tesla “While Magnus reads me the results of our smaller samples help me to separate the two distinct DNA complexes”.

It was another five hours before the three tired scientists could relax. “I’ve done it” de Blythe said “Now I need two totally sterile units in which the cultures can grow. I’ll use some strontium to enhance the growth so by this time tomorrow I should have a perfect clone of Ashley and another of Melaven.” Looking at Magnus he sighed “Then the difficult part begins. I suggest you take some sleep while I go to my quarters and feed on the blood you’ve provided.” Looking at Tesla he said “We make quite a team. After we’ve both refreshed ourselves tell me your plans and how I can help.”

"Of course..." replied Tesla, careful to make sure all of the samples were returned to his container, sealed properly, and locked with his own code. It would have to be returned to his hiding place immediately. He couldn't take any chances. The Five had been too special, he and Helen especially. He'd destroy anyone who stole the one piece of his love he possessed. With this DNA he knew he could be capable of so much evil if he so chose and he was always so proud of his self-restraint. He could've had Helen years ago, with his box of tricks here, anyway. He could've had her cloned and at the very least made the copy fall in love with him if the original was too thick to get his real feelings for her...But, no. He'd been a gentleman. Always...yes, he lost control with Ashley. He would hate himself for it forever. But, he wasn't about to stoop so low as to...well who was he kidding? Maybe...But, no...Well, she'd have to be pretty damned impossible before he'd ever give up pursuit of the real Helen Magnus and settle for a clone. That's for damn sure.

Kate

She just blinked hearing with Melaven said... she could care less about any of it... She barely knew how to handle whatever she felt for Declan. Just shaking her head and taking off to get food for those of them that needed it. Slipping out mostly unseen.

Declan smiled hearing all the breakthroughs and rubbing tired eyes he went back to his own research. Sighing as he heard the containment breech alarm in the chambers holding the Calisar hounds.

Bloody infernal little monsters aren't they...

Standing he took off to go help round up whichever one got out.

Back in the quarters Magnus had assigned him de Blythe went to the fridge and took the packs of chilled human blood provided. Breaking the seals he drank each in turn while he thought of what had been achieved that day. He wasn’t sure of Tesla or whether he could be trusted. But he could use another vampire and if he could successfully separate Ashley from Melaven there would be three working together on his immortality project. Once the formula was complete he promised himself he would give it to Magnus. Their first meetings had been difficult and they found themselves on opposite sides. But she was a very skilled scientist and her contribution to the cause would be invaluable.

Sitting back in his chair de Blythe remembered his time with Melaven and how it had been cut short. Back in those days it really was a case of the survival of the fittest and he had to destroy her or face extinction himself. Now he had the chance to correct that act and he hoped he could convince Melaven that this time she should trust him enough to work with him and Tesla on this project. But before that he owed Magnus for saving Chrissy King and he wanted to give her her daughter back. He knew the pain of losing a child and wanted to lift this from Magnus. Besides she might show him her gratitude in other ways but that would be a bonus.

Hearing a disturbance outside de Blythe went to the door. Opening it he saw a Calisar hound staring at him. Raising his right hand he whistled a high pitch tune that made the creature go docile before falling asleep. Picking it up he found Kate “Is this yours?” He asked “It’s ok; I sent it to sleep but didn’t harm it. A technique I learned from the Sioux Indians thirty years before the Battle of Little Big Horn. I’ll teach you if you wish.”
