*'Sanctuary' for Us *

OOC: Everyone please welcome BehaviorMod, the new Tesa and Druitt. I have to say, what an excellent start. I applaud you. :)

OOC: Why thank you. :) While I can't say that I could do a computer genius like Henry any justice, I'm pretty sure I have the arrogance and superiority complex of one Nicola Tesla down pat. Druitt I'll have to study up on a bit more, though he shouldn't be too much of a problem. Tricky part of John is that he cares, except when he's not allowing himself to care lol .

OOC I don't have time to post very often which is why I have a small part. But may I say congratulations everyone on an amazing few entries (even if they are not in priestly language - lol) And welcome Behaviourmod. A very well contrived debut post

Someone had either by accident or design left the audio communicator in the lab in the 'live' position which meant Big Guy heard every word. As his anger rose so did his blood pressure increase until he had to take action.

Grabbing a piece of wood which he snapped in two to form a jagged edge Big Guy made his way to the lab and pushed the doors open just in time to see Tesla use the stun gun. He shouted "You better thank Tesla for saving your miserable little life you ungrateful young lady!" He looked at the shocked gathering "I mean it! I was going to kill her for upsetting her mother like that." Then looking at Helen Magnas he said "I'm sorry, but you don't deserve that!"

Seeing Will looking dejected and angry he took him to one side and lied "And don't believe her, she's evil. I was there when sweet Carla died, and it wasn't Ashley, it was another Cabal clone. Honestly, she didn't feel a thing, it was painless and instant." Putting his arm around Will he thought to himself 'Thank God I'm not Pinnochio, my nose would be growing!'

As Tesla made his way down to the wine cellar Big Guy whispered to Helen "Don't worry, I've hidden all the finest wines and only I have the key. All our vampire friend will have to drink will be cat's piss!"

OOC The word 'piss' is found in the Bible in Isaiah 36:12 so I'm not swearing! lol

OOC Welcome Behavioralmod.. Very good Tesla.

IC:

Kate/Declan

Kate was glad that Tesla acted but at the mention of Tall bald and gruesome she moved over protectively of Magnus. Hearing Teslas words on the matter she had to agree. She had been here the shortest amount of time and even she knew that Magnus would run off to try to help him or probably would have tracked him town to see if helping Ashley would help him. She looked to Declan as he watched Helen.

Declan just looked to Magnus. Its our job to know where dangerous abnormals are like John and others. Between this Blythe guy and Melevan we need all present and accounted for... if you want me to get word to him I will.

Isis

Looking to Tesla. Want company old friend? We have not had time really to catch up since our paths have crossed again.

She smiled to Henry knowing he would have work to do and they always had later. Plus there was no telling if her old friend would wish to talk with is current mood over the insults of the pompous child in Ashley's body.

Helen found herself leaning on Bigfoot for support a bit more than she'd intended to. It was good to have someone nearby who seemed only concerned for her and not at all to have any mysterious underlying motives in the works. Not simple as in dull in his understanding of others, he was actually very intelligent, but always simple for those who chose to get to know him to understand and coexist with, this was why he was one of her closest friends.

Declan addressed the elephant in the room once more, John Druitt and his and Tesla's knowledge of the dangerous man's wherabouts. "...if you want me to get word to him I will." he finished grimly.

She moved from Biggie to pat Declan on the shoulder, "Yes, please do..." the disappointment was heavy in the air as she guessed everyone had hoped she would resist the decades old temptation of John Druitt so she clarified her position. "...not to try to save HIM but to help save HER. And, regardless what any of you think of that man he does deep down care about his daughter and her mother. I won't begrudge him an opportunity to make himself a better person by being there for us when he can even if I also wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him."

She looked around at the concerned faces surrounding her and smiled, "Thank you all for your worry." She motioned to the unconscious form of her daughter, "...and your patience. I still have faith we'll work this out somehow."

Helen moved from Declan to Will and hugged him in greeting, shrugging off his surprised eyebrow raise by saying, "Well, it's not like anyone will be surprised anymore after Melaven's insanely rude speech just now, would they?" And, she grabbed him by the hand, stealing a naughty glace over her shoulder in farewell as she stole a rare moment of peace to take her lover away and greet him properly in private.

Kate/Declan

Declan listened to her words about it not being to help John and he could understand he had spoken with John on a couple of occasions and even with the being that made him dark and murderously evil he knew John Cared for Helen and Ashley... the Rampage he went on wiping out the cabal was in a way proof enough that John cared alot more than he was able to admit. He saw the bodies in the Cabal lab and what had happened to them in that moment the old "Jack the Ripper" was back and he seemed to take methodical joy from torturing those Cabal people for what they had done over time to those he loved. He suspected that with how one body was done that John had gotten personal revenge for what that very lab in the Wildlands had done to Isis as well.

He walked to another room and placed a call on a secured Sanctuary Network line. The visual display popped up in mid air as he stood there.

Elizabeth... How are our guests from the Island? Good Good.

Yes I have something I need you to do. Send Mika to deliver a message to John... Ashley is home and We need his help. Yes there is more to the message. He has to stay calm for as long as he can when he gets here. WHen will I be returning... I don't know. TIll then as usual you and your brother are in charge... Thank you old friend. I will bring you back a deer or something.

The display vanished as he muttered to himself. You better be right Helen and its not a way to restart your life long crusade my friend. With that he headed to the kitchen.

Kate talked to Henry telling him about all the files she downloaded out of the scanners from the lab and that she had them in an encrypted folder since thats the only way the scanners would download it and it was all his but anything he read don't say anything to anyone but Helen about it... maybe Tesla if it was something he needed to know. Her expression worried Henry who smiled to Isis and seeing as though they had not been outed yet he kept it that way and ran to his computer lab to get to work.

Will couldn't believe the drama down in the medbay. It was like the moment that Melaven opened Ashely's mouth nothing but serpents came flying out. He was trying not to think about what she'd said about his old flame and how she'd died and he was extremely surprised to see Helen taking all of this tension as well as she was, even her outburst had been rather healthy even if she wouldn't have agreed.

But, the best part of the whole speel was that at least he and Helen wouldn't have to hide their feelings for each other, running around behind everyone's backs like a couple of teenagers. The store room incident had been quite fun in a spontaneous sort of way but he also looked forward to being able to simply kiss his girlfriend hello and goodbye without them having to hide or leave the room to do it. These thoughts raced through his mind as the elevator took them up to the residential floor and seeing as they were all alone in it, he happily engaged in a fair amount of ''snogging'' with Helen on the way.

He tried to engage her in some conversation and he was shocked to receive her curt, "Can it, Will. I've missed you and I don't want to think about the last hour at all right now." before attacking his mouth with her's, an aggressive but sexy as hell kiss that Will quickly lost himself in once more.

His arousal increased when Helen led him into her bedroom where he'd spent the previous night waiting for her in disappointment and concern but now stood fully aroused and pleased to have the world's hottest woman on her knees before him, unzipping his jeans and letting them fall then lowering his boxer briefs in order to show him how much she'd missed him in the last twenty-four hours with some much adored oral appreciation. "OhGod, Helen..." was all he could manage between ragged breaths, his hands finding purchase on her bobbing head. "I don't want to...ohhhh...ughhh....don't want to....cum in your mouth, though....I want to....uhhhhh....ohhhhh, Helen, you deserve something too..."
Damn! Talking coherently was always hard for Will when all he could feel was pleasure and all he could focus on was the beautiful woman sucking his dick...

It took a great deal of self restraint but he managed to hold back and finally get control of the situation within enough time, tearing off Magnus's clothes and pinning her to the floor for his own turn to show her he also knew how to use his mouth to gratify. Her squeal of delight egged him on further and he found himself grinning despite his intention to be all intense and serious while making love to someone as amazing as Helen Magnus.

It was a shame they never made it to the bed for the main bit but they were having too much fun on the floor beside it. The noises coming from Magnus's room definitely weren't the norm for this part of the Sanctuary at mid-day. And, Will's triumphant achievement at holding off his orgasm until the very crest of Helen's was more than a little dampened by the sudden appearance of John Druitt looking menacing and surprised simultaniously as he materialized just a foot away from the couple *in perturbatio promontorium.

OOC Welcome behavoralmod. Really great first post. I'm sure we can get our teeth into this

Roger de Blythe

As Doctor Alan Bailey, de Blythe did his ward rounds with the young staff nurse who had been made responsible for the post-operative care of little Chrissy King. He was delighted to see the young girl sitting up in bed playing a computer game on her father’s I pad. After examining her he found the new cells were beginning to function in their own right and he smiled at the nurse as he wrote the recovery plan for the next four weeks. Addressing Chrissy he said “Carry on like this and you can go home next month. Meanwhile I’ll call your father and ask him to arrange with your school for some homework to be sent in.” The nurse and de Blythe both laughed as Chrissy pulled a disagreeable face.

Back in his room de Blythe opened a set of documents he’d procured on the work of the Sanctuary Network.

He read that Professor Helen Magnus established the project to protect various abnormal creatures with extraordinary powers and abilities. The Sanctuary served as a safe haven for these "Abnormals". Magnus was aided by her protégé Will Zimmerman, her daughter Ashley (now entwined with his own former lover Melaven) and the computer geek Henry Foss. All were assisted by their Neanderthal-like butler they called Big Guy.

In her youth Magnus was trained by her father, a gifted Victorian scientist, to study the world and protect the unusual. Helen was a member of a group of experimental scientists known as "The Five", which included Nikola Tesla, Nigel Griffin, Doctor James Watson and Magnus's lover John Druitt who wanted to push the boundaries of their understanding of the physical world through unconventional means. Magnus acquired a vial of untainted vampire blood and used it in a serum that "The Five" injected into themselves. After the injection, they each developed Abnormal traits: Magnus experienced drastically slowed aging, and longevity with no clear limit; Nigel Griffin acquired the power to become invisible at will; Doctor James Watson's intellect was tremendously heightened; Nikola Tesla underwent transformation into a vampire, with the additional power of electrical manipulation; John Druitt developed longevity and the ability to teleport through time and space, but, already unstable and soon possessed by a malevolent energy creature was driven to give in to his dark impulses and became Jack the Ripper.

Sanctuary’s work attracted enemies, chief of which was “The Cabal", a powerful shadow organization that captured, studied, and experimented on Abnormals, in the belief that the Abnormal population is a threat to the human species. They tested a small amount of a biological weapon named Lazarus that caused all types of Abnormals to become extremely violent, attacking anyone nearby and then dying painfully. This was part of The Cabal's overall plan to incite humanity against the Abnormals so that they can wipe out the entire abnormal population and gain greater influence over humanity. They captured and brainwashed Ashley and converted her into a vampiric super soldier, using her as a template for a small army which attacked the Sanctuary network. Against all odds, Magnus and her teams stopped them at the Old City Sanctuary where Griffin’s granddaughter, and briefly Will’s lover, Clara (who inherited Griffin’s power on invisibility) lost her life. Ashley, in a moment of clarity sacrificed herself. (Later her molecular and personal makeup became entwined with that of de Blythe’s Tudor lover, Melaven.) Ashley’s father, Druitt, hunted down and killed the heads of the Cabal, which seemed to disband. Meanwhile Magnus grappled with denial, then grief, and finally accepted the loss of Ashley only for her to reappear after Melaven’s freak resurrection. Before Ashley’s reappearance the team adjusted to a newcomer Kate Freelander, a former freelance Cabal operative.

As de Blythe read the records he had gathered he was impressed as to how Magnus dealt with her relationships to the remaining members of the Five. Despite her grief she had increased international coordination in the wake of the Cabal's attacks on the Global Sanctuary Network she had established.

Closing the file de Blythe was even more impressed with Magnus than he had been before. He recalled how back in April 1912 he had assisted in rescuing her from the Titanic and believed it was probably the best thing he had ever done. If anyone deserved immortality it was Helen Magnus. But first he needed to separate Ashley and Melaven and then work with Tesla on establishing a new Vampire Nation and in the process uncover the secret of immortality.[/FONT]He was about to send another e mail when there was a knock on his door. In walked the staff nurse who had accompanied him on the ward round earlier clasping a bottle of 1999 vintage red wine. “I thought we should celebrate a little girl’s recovery” she said with a smile.

Welcoming her in de Blythe shut the door and produced two wine glasses. Both were professional medics, both were relieved that a little life had been saved and both were consenting adults. Their love making was passionate, demanding, at times savage but totally fulfilling. In the morning after the nurse had left de Blythe knew his life was about to change and much of his time would now be taken up in working with Helen Magnus.

OOC: Awesome, thanks Lisa. We haven't yet gotten to the last two paragraphs of the review (season 3) in this thread, though and that could confuse things.

OOC 've deleted the references to series 3. Hope the resume helps new readers.

OOC You had mentioned Hollow Earth way back so I figured we were well past it all *lol*

OOC: I know, true, it's a mix up in a way but I figure it's easier than opening the whole time-bubble can of worms just yet. We barely have enough writers for the current cast as it is. Let alone, Adam W., the people from down below...

((About that whole Druitt materializing in Magnus' bedroom bit....wouldn't you think what with Ashley all psychotic and ragefull and ....well herself or otherwise, that they'd have erected the EMS (Electro Magnetic Shield) barrier to prevent Ashley from going anywhere unless it's on foot? In turn, preventing Druitt from doing the same? I could be wrong but, just trying to keep things on the same page. We don't want any holes....not those kind at least :p ))

Nicola made his way down to the wine cellar; finding his desk and chair, a work station he had set up during his elongated stay while trying to figure out how to stop the Lazarus bomb from destroying the Abnormal infrastructure. He had almost drained Magnus's stores of any and all alcohol dry; but Magnus was a woman full of surprises and in the months that followed, the wine cellar found itself full again.

He found a bottle of something red and deep, sat down at the desk and sighed. What was he doing with these people? With Helen? Shy from the whole Ashley situation; he was useless. He had no reason to be here. Nothing he could put his genius to work on. He should be elsewhere right now, figuring out the keys to his ancestors ressurection; not enjoying wine alone in a dark cellar.

Then he smiled a bit. That one sided grin when an idea strikes him. He turned to an intercom divice and summoned Isis down to keep him company. The girl had offered before but Tesla was in no mood to acknowledge anyone.

OOC: Let's work under the assumption that one of the things he managed to do while away was find a means to get around their sheilds somehow. I'm quite fond of the moment I created there and looking forward to what fun it could make to write with...and can see further interesting and dangerous situations with him if the EM sheild wasn't always as reliable as they had once thought it was. ;)

"....Helen, this better not be some sort of joke. I heard from Declan about Ash..." John Druitt materialized in a swirling storm of red energy words already on the tip of his tongue. Words that were quickly cut from his tongue when he sat his sights on what was taking place in Helen's bedroom. "Oh dear, have I come at a bad time, Helen? Seems having two men vying for your effection wasn't enough hmmm, Helen?" John snarled down at Will and shook his head solemly. Druitt would have normally been in control in any other situation, but he had just finished off another Cabal sect, and seeing his former lover in the throws of passion with another man wasn't a normal situation.

Druitt reached down and grabbed will by the arm and they both dissapeared. When Druitt reappeared in a vortex of red and black; he was alone. "I think the old boy's going to find it's a bit drafty out there this day. Now then, as much as I'd love to admire that timeless body of yours, put some clothes on and tell me where she is."

'It was a shame they never made it to the bed for the main bit but they were having too much fun on the floor beside it. *latin:at passion's peak'

The last thing Helen had been expecting to hear when the blood stopped rushing to her ears after a particularly awe inspiring orgasm...was the voice of her first lover...
Her eyes snapped fully open and she looked up just in time to see John look down at them menacingly and reach a large, bruised hand out to grab Will by the bicep, disappearing with him in a flash of light.

Helen scrambled up onto her elbows and sidled up to her bed, trying to reach for her bed-covers in time to cover up and possibly look for her firearm when he returned in the spot she and Will had just baptized, grumbling, "I think the old boy's going to find it's a bit drafty out there this day. Now then, as much as I'd love to admire that timeless body of yours, put some clothes on and tell me where she is."

She rose up in fury, her teeth gritted against cursing as she simply seethed and uttered, "Where's Will?"

John shrugged, "He's in no actual danger, my love. Just...cooling off. He looked a bit too warm there all swaddled in...well, in you." He calmly crossed the room to find Helen's earlier disregarded knickers and handed them to her, politely looking away just long enough for her to finish fuming and put them on.

"Purple...that color always did look lovely against your skin. I prefer you in black, myself. You were lucky it was never black&blue, not on purpose anyway..."Druitt moved to the window and stared out of it, wondering at the old abandoned cathedral in the distance and how sad it was that no one had taken it over and done something with the building in all these years. It gave Helen more time to hastily get dressed."Now, where's our child. What happened to her?"

Helen was still shaking and she wasn't sure if it was residually from her strong climax with Will or from the shock of their interruption by the worst possible person in the entirety of the universe to catch them together. She faced John boldly and stared him down, "You are never welcome to appear in my private quarters and you know it. I'm not amused by your games and I won't let you intimidate Will...get him back here and we'll both take you to Ashely. She's safely resting right now. I'll explain everything after you...where is he anyway?"

He pointed out the window, snickering as she had to squint to see the nude form of her young lover perched awkwardly and dangerously atop the highest of the cathedral's steeples.

"GET HIM DOWN FROM THERE!" Helen screamed at John.

"You really have lost your sense of humour over time, Helen." he said with a chuckle before disappearing and returning with a chilly, damp, not very happy looking Will Zimmerman.

Will shook some rain from his hair and reached for the clothes Helen handed him to put on, backing away from Druitt and toward her. "What the fuck!? That was not at all warranted, Druitt!"

Druitt broke eye contact with Helen and spun on Will menacingly, "I don't CARE!" he hissed dangerously down at the smaller man who put up his hands placatingly in case of a physical altercation possibility.

Helen moved between them, "Gentlemen, PLEASE!" she ordered and both stopped and looked at her. Helen looked to Will, brushing her hand down his cheek lovingly (brrr, it was cold out there if his skin temperature was any indication) as she explained, "He wants to know about Ashley. Let's take him to see her." she explained.

Will visibly relaxed a bit more, looking up at Druitt and then back to Helen again before he nodded, "Alright. Let's go then." he said, leading the way but once the three were headed down the hallway to the lift he added, "But don't think I'll just forgive and forget. Man, there's nothing more awful than being stuck out in the wind and rain the second after...well, you know. That's the fastest and most painful experience with shrinkage I've ever had."

Helen felt badly for Will but John's laughter as they took the lift down and Will's glowering expression was almost enough to make her crack a bit of a chuckle herself...almost, she did still feel angry at John, though. That was a really mean thing to do to poor Will.

Then he smiled a bit. That one sided grin when an idea strikes him. He turned to an intercom divice and summoned Isis down to keep him company. The girl had offered before but Tesla was in no mood to acknowledge anyone.

Isis

She wandered down to see her old friend. Offering a smile to Henry before she left. Finding her way to his little hiding place she walked in and finding another chair sat down across from him.

Its been a while old friend....

She smiled though her dark eyes held less shimmer and spark than they normally did. She seemed a tad pale as well but her energy and spirit was still balanced. She did not think about the fact that he like her could catch the scents normally untraceable by humans. She reached for a glass and the wine watching him.

The Melevan side of Little Cub... Catching herself from returning to older times Ashley got to you... She seems good at trying to get under people skin... So far Young Kate seems immune or just doesn't care what she has to say. She has gotten to me too... That protective streak wanting to make you all find a way to save Ashley and my destroying whatever keeps Melevan there within her.

Raising a glass.. To the miracle return of Ashley even if it is a double edged sword.

Tesla

Nicola inclined his head with a bit of a smile and raised his wine glass along with hers. "I suppose I can partake of that toast with you, I've already partaken of this new Ashley herself and, let me tell you; not what I was expecting." Tesla pursed his lips and rested them on two templed fingers a moment. "So then, it truely has been a long time, Isis my friend. I have missed much. Besides this Melavan character; what troubles you, my unique feline friend? Something about you is off...your scent has changed recently too."

Nicola drained the glass and refilled his, offering more to Isis in the process. "Might as well spend what quiet time we have catching up with each other, no? Maybe they'll send someone down eventually and actually give me a reason to be here...not that you don't make a fine enough reason." Nicola grinned his half grin and sipped more wine, his eyes always so full of passion and interest in the world around him.

Isis

Isis wondered which change in scent he could be talking about as she smiled. Could it be the fact that she and Henry had spent time in the primal act of love or her talking to the Deathspeaker. Had he been there the last time she spoke with a Deathspeaker and nearly died She could not remember...

I wondered when you would comment on something like that Nicola.... How has my scent changed and I need a little more info than just something is off so I can help figure out what I have done that might have caused such changes.

A faint smiled did grace her lips as she thought about Henry but just as quickly thoughts of the deathspeaker and what happened there the smile turned a little sorrowful. Finishing off her glass she accepted the refill though normally was more for the harder stuff she remained with the wine for now.

Henry fought the curious nature to see what the files said he just moved them to an sort of electronic inbox for Magnus and went about goin over all the equipment and the EM field so that nothing or anyone that Magnus didn't want in could get in. He saw the recording of Druitt getting in and alerted Big Guy to that fact. He didn't trust the guy after all he was Jack the Ripper at least at one point and time and was not wound that well even now.

Kate

She decided to head to the kitchen and grab a bite to eat seeing Declan there she smiled as she moved to figure out something to eat. Sitting down she was tired and annoyed beyond words as she just ate and tried to calm down. Declan looked over and nodded offering a smile he could understand her aggravation. He knew all too well it wasn't easy to be a human in a world of Abnormals no matter how human they acted or appeared. He knew Big Guy looked after and and Will and all of them but he also could tell how she viewed herself in this strange world she found herself in... not realizing that she has contributed some good ideas and handled situations with relative speed that would have taken people like Himself Will or Magnus weeks or longer. Catching himself drifting back to waking up with his arm around her he had to snap himself back to all of the matters at hand and headed out to go try to research Melevan and this De Blythe more trying to figure out what they can do about them.

When they'd arrived in the medical area where Ashley was sleeping soundly Helen finally risked a glance up into John's face to see his expression. The combination of conflicting feelings she saw there made her heart ache. She could only imagine what it felt like to be in his shoes and on the best days still never seemed very good. John was the one person she'd always loved and yet knew it wouldn't be safe to love. His emotional problems were deep and vast, too dark for her to begin to comprehend. Add to the mix the dark entity which lived within him, drawing on his negative feelings, feeding them to make him a murderous monster at times....well, needless to say, Helen had to draw the line somewhere between loving the man and seeing man and monster were so heavily combined that she would never be able to be with him and be completely safe, no one could. It was his deepest sorrow. He would never be able to truly be close to anyone because of the burdon he carried. Helen had gotten the closest once, so long ago...

She could see his pain at seeing his flesh and blood child again after thinking her dead. How many horrific killings had he committed in the name of vengeance for her murder? How tortured must his soul be to find out his labour of love was in the end just one more unnecessary act of malice and hate?

Helen shuddered and took a step back, finding comfort in Will's arm around her waist now as they waited nearby and let Druitt have his moment with his daughter.
"She's somehow the body and her conscious mind is all tangled up with this Tudor age vampiress, Melaven." Helen re-explained.

"Not a nice character. Poor Ashley...I wouldn't want to share an elevator with this woman and she has to share her body and mind...We're trying to figure out a safe way to either separate them or excise Melaven from Ashley's mind but not sure yet how to do so without risking harm to Ashley."

Druitt put his hand out, tentatively touching the side of Ashley's face as if he still couldn't believe it was really her. "I was cruel to her on more than one occasion...then again, who haven't I been cruel to?" he commented in his deep, eerily melodic tone.

Big Guy stood outside the medical lab with Magnus and Will while John tended to his daughter as best as he could. When he left Big Guy asked if he could have just five minutes alone with the girl they had all grown to love. After all nodded agreement he entered, closed the door and sat beside her.

"Your mother tells me that even in an unconcious state we can still hear what is being said." He leaned forward and clapsed her hand. "I hope you can hear what I'm saying. To both of you." Thinking back he said "I've known you for such a long time and down the years you have become important to me. I know how hard life has been and how you were forced by the Cabal to do things you didn't want to do. You had the courage to overcome that and we are so proud of you." Big Guy thought back over the past couple of days "But we've got you back with a bonus. We don't hate Melaven, we want to help you. We want to help her and we want to see you recovered and be better than you have ever been. But to do that your mother will have to find a way to seperate you."

Leaning forward he said "I'm sorry I had to smack your bottom. But it was for your own good. And the medicines you are going to be asked to take are for your own good too. The doctors are not your enemy, they are your friends. They understand. And Melaven, we know you don't want to be here and believe me all that can be done will be done to help you. Just trust us and together we will get you out of this mess."

With those words he kissed her on the cheek and left the room.

Ashley could hear what Big Guy was saying although she was way too drugged to respond to him. She worried about what he really thought of her and whether she had finally lost the respect and love of her mother. She hated the things the Cabal had done to her and forced her to participate in. She hated what she had become yet she so longed for the old days when she could be part of a team that was fighting to protect the abnormals, those who had been rejected by society.

Too badly damaged to fight back on her own she welcomed the attachment of Melaven although she wished she would show a little more restraint. She feared no one, stood up for herself, defended her rights and would be good to have on her side. Ashley hoped that if the Cabal or anyone like them tried to seize her again that it would be Melaven and not Ashley who was waiting for them.

Big Guy, her Mother, even her father loved her, she knew that yet Ashley felt she had let them down. Big Guy’s words continued to echo round her sub conscious brain. “Just trust us and we will get you out of this mess.” That meant she had to submit herself to the treatment her Mother, Tesla and de Blythe might ask her to take. She needed to separate herself from Melaven, not to destroy her but so they could each live their own lives and achieve their own goals. Melaven had her place, her contribution to make but she was not and never would be the true Ashley.

As Big Guy left, Ashley tried to squeeze his hand but could not summon up the strength. Instead she tried to send a telepathic thought to her mother telling her she was so sorry for the pain she had put her through. She was so proud to be her daughter, although in many ways they were more like sisters. She knew her mother had some very big battles to fight and didn’t need this additional worry. So she would submit herself to whatever treatment was needed to bring about the stability needed to this whole venture.

She just hoped Melaven would recognise the need for separation and that she too could have a place in the future of the Sanctuary Network.

Druitt begrudgingly allowed the big ape into the room and allowed him to have his moment with Ashley before he pushed his way back inside the chamber again. He wished he could do more for his daughter right now than just stare at her. Helen looked like she wanted to say something but he waved her off. He hated the pity in her eyes sometimes.
