*'Sanctuary' for Us *

Henry

He nodded to Isis. "I will. Miss you." As he blew a kiss her way.
He got back to integrating the information from old sanctuary into new sanctuary but he really stopped when he realized it was already done somehow. He inquired into the computer. "Computer, Henry.Recognize."

"Henry is recognized. Access granted."

"Who inputed the old sanctuary information into the system?"

Computer
"The old sanctuary has always been daily syncronized with this database."

Henry asked "Who built this again?"

Computer
"Access denied."

Henry blinked. "Denied?" He looked puzzled.

Lucy eyed the man beside her sister and then looked up to a presence he couldn't see. Patricia nodded that it was also alright to talk to him. "You're lucky Patricia seems to like you. She's sometimes overprotective of me...I'm pretty sure you know my father's name. Gregory Magnus is ultimately your boss, after all. I know back home he's kind of a nothing compared to my mommy but here, well...Here and on the surface his name still gets things done. He's pretty important from what he'd have me understand. Yes?" Lucy looked to Helen for confirmation.

Helen was flabbergasted, ''Um, yes...Gregory Magnus was...IS a rather important man but...I thought he, I mean everything's led me to believe he's been dead..."

''No, no. He's alive. He raised me. He's in a prison, though. Mommy keeps him there so she won't have to kill him. She uses him to help create things, and to talk to the people of Praxis who don't always like her or the council or their decisions...and because when I came about she felt she should keep him alive because if she killed him she'd have to answer to me about it.''

Nikola was having fun learning the new computer systems and using some of the passwords Lyda had supplied him with from her home to reorganize things and learn a wealth of information about this new Sanctuary. He changed the passwords, of course. If anyone wanted this stuff they could ask him nicely.

Lyda

She quickly found her mother and smiled to her.

You need to come with me mother... there is someone here you need to meet.

Isis nodded and followed her a little confused but there was fathers scent scattered all over this place so who knew who she would be introducing her to... till now she had suspected father to be dead this place held many questions. Lyda lead Isis over to Helen Will and Lucy.

Mother this is Lucy... Lucy I would like for you to meet My mother... Isis. Who I suspect is also your sister...

Will

"And what prison would your father be in? We'd like to help you."

Henry

He still couldn't get over he was denied access.

The computer started beeping and then a small creature showed up and wondered why he didn't have access.

"You should have access sir. this is most interesting."

Henry knew only one person who could pull this off.

He grunted and walked over to Tesla's area and found him on the computer.
"Seems like someone is having a little too much fun. Changed the passwords on me already? I thought we stopped that game in the old sanctuary. I mean it's really grade school."

Lucy turned to Biggie and frowned, "I can't believe they were never told. No one knew father is alive?"

Isis

Looking to Lucy then to Helen brow raised...

That would explain why I can catch Fathers scent here however faint...

Hearing Will mention prison a faint snarl curled her lips.

Who imprisons father.

Lucy laughed at Lyda's comment about the women with her, Lyda's mother. ''Patricia doesn't like when you say it that way. She's a bit fussy about titles and proper names and such...Patricia, I know...I know!'' Lucy blushed slightly as she explained, ''Patricia says you're a close friend of the family, pleased to meet you...I'll call you sister just like Helen does if Patricia doesn't stop freaking out over it.''

She felt perhaps she needed to explain that too. ''Oh, I see people...spirits...and Patricia is the one who spends the most time around me. She's also like family but not. Father's first wife.''

Helen felt the blood drain from her face in shock. ''My mother?''

Lucy nodded. ''It's ok. She's fine.''

Helen suddenly felt her legs weaken and her pulse race, ''I'm not. You're saying my father's alive and imprisoned somewhere, and my mother's your..your...your personal spirit guide?''

Lucy bit her lip. Had she been too honest too soon?

Lucy spoke in a softer voice now, remembering, ''It's not a horribly bad prison like the ones they show in movies you surface dwellers watch. I was raised there, hidden away, of course. She let him keep me because she knew I'd be found if she kept me. But, his prison is in the main palace, nicer than most people's homes, still...he may not leave.''

Nikola Tesla chuckled at Henry's frustration, ''Tsk, tsk, mon ami, didn't your mommy every teach you to share? Oh, I mean Helen, didn't Helen ever..er, uh, forget it. It's hard to belittle an orphan wolf boy such as yourself when it's obvious manners are still a new concept to your kind. ''

He rose from his seat, the baby was fussing so he knew he'd have to leave and hunt down a bottle for her soon. His game would have to end sooner than he wanted. ''Say pretty please and I'll tell you the new access codes.''

Will

He watched intently at Helen for the reaction at all of this information. He was worried she'd go into a bit of emotional shock.

Hearing all of this allegedly from mother a brow raised as she looked to Helen then back to this child. Lyda grew defensive of her mother and snarled then hearing grandfather in her mind.

Funny grandfather calls Isis daughter....

Helen reached out to Lucy and the girl put her little hands in her's, ''So, you're my little sister.'' she said softly.

Lucy nodded.

''How did he do all of this? I'm assuming it was him. He's brilliant but...if he's imprisoned, how?''

Lucy shrugged, ''He just did. He was waiting until 2015 or later but mommy told him it had to be now. He had to destroy his old work and make room for the new. He had to also smuggle lots and lots of Abnormal people out before he could finish. Mommy can be weird sometimes but she helped him do this. If the council were to find out they'd kill them both, really dead, forever. And, if they ever found me...we'd all be dead. So, they sent me too, with the Abnormals. Only, I wasn't really...well, it happened so fast, there was very little organization to it once he started detonating bombs. He's probably worried he killed more people than he saved. I wish I could talk to him and tell him it's ok.''

Helen felt like her world was turned upside down, ''He destroyed my Sanctuary...the one he built so long ago and left to me?''

Lucy nodded. ''He had to. Some secrets are never safe, not even with family protecting them.''

Helen nodded, ''But he also created this place?''

''Yes. And, I'm not sure...I don't think mommy knows about it.''

''You talk to ghosts? Seriously?'' Jenny arrived in time to hear the last minute or two of the conversation and instantly her present occupation of a fresh body felt threatened. ''Why isn't anyone freaked out that this kid's all Sixth Sense and stuff?''

Lucy turned to regard the new person talking to her, looked at an unseen person behind her and then clammed up, backing away to hide in the bed. ''I'm not supposed to talk to you. Patricia says I mustn't. You're a bad girl. She says you're not a good influence and not natural and she thinks bad things will happen to me if I am around you too much.''

Helen had to clarify, ''My mother? My mother says this to you?''

Lucy stopped talking.

Isis

She tried to silence Lyda who continued to snarl faintly at this unfolding of revelations of a ghost. Almost as if on some unseen Cue the Deathspeaker managed to find them and looking to Patricia she shook her head.

Your strict beliefs never stopped your husband from viewing the orphan as his own... perhaps you should have as well but I can give you that chance... I know well my young ward grieved your death for centuries... clearly viewing you as a far closer family than you did of her... If ever you wish to talk to her alone I am here...

Young Lyda... Your father wishes words with you... Now

The old woman took Lyda by the hand and nearly dragging her away clearly much stronger than she looked.

Roger de Blythe

Roger de Blythe sat back thinking about the time long ago when he had met Gregory Magnus even before the birth of his amazing daughter Helen. Being a vampire de Blythe had the longevity that allowed him to build his knowledge piece upon piece, experience on experience. Down the years, as agreed he had been involved in Helen’s life being there in the background when needed even rescuing her after Titanic went down.

He was even ready once to sacrifice his existence to get Melaven out of the way but he was not prepared for what had happened now. The earthquake was not supposed to happen at this point as far as he knew but even he only knew part of the story. Big Guy probably knew another part but he would not have known of de Blythe’s information. But why had it happened now? There was no way Gregory Magnus would allow innocent people to be injured and die and he desperately needed to contact Gregory but even his telepathic link was blocked and he knew something was not right.

But right now he had to get Ashley to safety and he was now desperate. Locking his mind onto Helen Magnus he made one last attempt “Helen … Helen …Ashley needs to be with you.” Before he could link to her there was another shake and he turned see Ashley collapse. Mel looked at him and whispered “Roger … What’s gone wrong? She … she … she’s supposed to be … to be immortal. What’s … what’s gone wrong?”

Biting into his own wrist de Blythe held the blood to Ashley’s mouth restoring her to life. “That was not supposed to happen” he said angrily “I need to get her into a laboratory and to safety” Then sending his thoughts in anger he mentally screamed “MAGNUS! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU? YOUR DAUGHTER NEEDS YOU!”

“MAGNUS! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU? YOUR DAUGHTER NEEDS YOU!”
Helen heard the screaming in her mind and it brought her to her knees, hands to her temples at the pain of it.

Lucy put her hands out to steady the woman before her, wiser than her four years, she knew it was something telepathic going on. ''Helen, are you alright?'' she asked carefully.

Helen shook her head, glad for the steadying feel of Will's hand on her shoulder and the presence of her sister Isis. ''I think...something's gone terribly wrong with Ashley. Where's Nikola? He should be watching over the mother of his child instead of playing around here with Henry's new toys.''

Will grumbled something under his breath and she got a sense he was on his phone or an intercom sending Tesla to the hospital.

''He can leave the baby here.'' Helen ordered as an afterthought. ''No reason to drag the newborn all over...''

Lucy brightened up, ''A baby! Is Ashley my niece? This means the baby's like...some sort of 2nd cousin of sorts? Oh, it's my grand-niece or nephew, how funny. Can I see the baby?''

Biggie patted Lucy on the head and his bass voice rumbled in the quiet room, ''Now isn't the time, princess. Later on.'' He then waited until Helen's eyes were raised to his and asked, ''May I get her from Tesla for you? I can also explain he needs to check on Ashley and find a way to get her to the medical facility here without the humans out of the loop finding out.''

Magnus nodded, her sense of self and control returning but the concern for her daughter lining her features, betraying her false calm as she replied, ''Yes, please. That's a good idea. I'll look after my granddaughter while he's getting her. Tell him I'm serious about this job I'm giving him. No funny business. No tricks. Just do as he's told for once.''

Bigfoot nodded his agreement, ''Of course, Magnus. He'll die regretting it if he doesn't do exactly as he's been told. '' and he was off to find Tesla and pass the message while retrieving the baby.

Lucy was full of excitement now, bouncing on the balls of her feet. ''Oh yay! So, I will get to meet the baby!'' She talked to the unseen presence before the audience of Helen's people around her, ''Yes, Patricia, I'll make sure you can see her too. I know this is exciting for you too.'' she said. Helen tried to overcome the sense of chills it gave her to contemplate that this was actually her half sister and this girl was in constant communication with Helen's deceased mother, Patricia.

Lucy could see it freaked people out when she spoke with spirits so blatantly but she didn't care in this instant. This was supposed to be her new family. They'd have to get used to her ways.

Isis

Moving to Helen when she dropped Isis snarled slightly becoming very protective of her sister Forgetting Lucy or Mothers presence.

You all deal with Tesla and I will go get Ashley... Your call if De Blythe is to be shown down here sister.

She waited for Helens answer though ready to bolt to go get Ashley when Helen agreed or asked her to go with her.

~~~~~
The old woman moved Lyda away from everyone and sat her down. Your father wants you to watch over your Mother your Aunt Helen and Ashley... He is getting agitated but why I can not tell... Something is not right... I can tell you nothing beyond that...
Lyda nodded... I watch over them all including those that would protest that they do not need it. THough it is taking longer to release this claustrophobia now being here underground... any ideas?
The old woman nodded and directed her to Sally the Mermaids new environment enclosure and told her to meditate and relax and Sally could help her.
Henry
He groaned at being pinned into these dumb games. They never ended. But then when you're someone like Tesla apparently dry humour and childish games are all you can hold onto.
"Pretty Please...with sugar on top." Henry pertly said.
Will
Watching all that was happening it was clear Helen had control of the situation. He guessed the 150 years she'd been around had tempered her control to react somewhat.
His hand touching her shoulder reminding her she was needed felt nice.
Isis
Her protective streak over her sister tensed seeing a hand on Helen's shoulder and for a split second was ready to growl if not attack till she saw that it was Will and just watched him for a moment that feral protector mental state nearly glowing in her eyes.
''Shit!'' Tesla cursed as he heard Biggie coming toward him and Henry, ''Yes, I heard the message and was on my way. They didn't need to send the Bouncer to do the Mistress's bidding!'' he complained. Henry just chuckled. ''Password...right, Heinrich, you'll be able to guess it has something to do with vampires, specifically our blood...and...''
Helen stood and took Will's arm, still holding onto little Lucy's hand as well. ''I think it's been far too long since I've had a bite to eat. I feel a little lightheaded. Lucy, can you tell me if you kno where the kitchen and diningroom are?''
Lucy grinned, ''I've been there. I'll show you. Do you cook?''
Helen shook her head with a smile, ''Not very often and not very well when I do, I'm afraid.''
Lucy shrugged, "Can you make a sandwich?"
Helen chuckled, ''Yes, I think I can manage that. Would you like a sandwich?''
''Well, if you're offering, sure.'' teased Lucy as they walked to the double-doored elevator.
Ashley Magnus
Ashley could feel something tearing away from deep inside her. Roger de Blythe had made her immortal but it did not mean she would be pain free. She cried out as her heart imploded on itself bringing her to slow ‘death’. But within seconds of her ‘death’ she was alive again to suffer the same pain and death as before. She cried out to de Blythe “You have brought me to an eternity of pain and suffering. We cannot interfere with the pattern of …” She screamed in agony as another death took her only to restore her again.
Roger de Blythe
de Blythe fell to his knees his life’s ambitions in ruins “What have I done?” he whispered to no one in particular. Then reaching out with his mind he tried to connect with Helen Magnus, with Tesla, with Isis with anyone “I never meant this to happen! I wanted to destroy death for ever!” His thoughts were interrupted as Ashley screamed again. “I never wanted another parent to lose a child, for any child to be an orphan. I meant well. I REALLY MEANT WELL!”
Again Ashley cried out and de Blythe sobbed as blood, not tears escaped from his eyes and he looked a defeated beaten man. “Magnus … MAGNUS … HELP ME!”
But no help came, he couldn’t get through. There was only one person who could save Ashley now. That person was Helen’s father. Somehow, some way he HAD to release him. But he had no idea how to.
Isis
Tilting her head she heard something... she could not fully make it out. With Helen and Lucy wandering off to eat she looked around and spotting one of the other "workers" here she managed to figure out how to get back to the surface in Lyda's home and then tracking carefully to the hospital. Her anger veiled as best as she can as she walked to the desk and attempted to calmly tell them that they would show her to her Niece Ashley Magnus... Immediately and to inform whoever was with her that she was there.
A very mortal looking abnormal spotted her and walked over quickly.
I will show her to Miss Magnus...
Then quickly ushering her into the room with Ashley.
You really have to be careful coming here Dr Magnus would be better I know your kind and your veiled temper does not remain veiled for long.
Isis ignored them and moved into the room with Ashley and De Blythe. She was what was happening smelling the faintest traces of death only to see Ashley return from the dead. Moving first to her niece she lifted her into a hug as if trying to give her strength or take the death from her. Cold feral eyes however locked on De Blythe as if daring him to say or do anything stupid in this moment. Wary of Mel's presence as well she snarled low.
Her mind deeply snapped into that older than time protector/destroyer soul of her people As if taking her back down to "base programming" she stared at them hugging her niece as she said only one thing.
Little Cub...
The being that showed her to Ashley quickly found a place to hide to call Dr Magnus to see if she was en route to the hospital as well.
