Sarah Palin

Yeah, I can see that political stories might be a bit of a minefield.

I wonder if Literotica is a hub of the liberal left conspiracy. Or whether everyone has shotguns under their beds. I'm picturing a bumper stick here -
"Republicans do it better"...

We do! :D

the shotguns in the closet

No, they've turned down stories from both sides, from what I hear.

But when you think about the site itself, and the freedom of speech it's based on... perhaps it might be a clue as to the leanings of the folks who run it?

I don't know about stories, but I did submit an essay in which I predicted a landslide win for McCain. :D It was turned down as being political, :(so I posted it here and started a thread.

Hey....I thought you were going to laugh at all of the Obama supporters when Palin won the VP debate. What ever happened to that?

:D :D :D :D :D

Winning a political debate is not the primary objective of the participants. There are people who score the performances, and proclaim a winner, but some of them say one and some say the other. What the candidates really want to do is get their message across and convince voters to vote for them. There is really no way to tell who won in that regard. We might get some idea after the election has been held but, even there, we have no way of knowing how much effect the debate had.

Was I talking to you?

When you post here, you are addressing everybody. If you want to address a specific individual, send a PM.

What Ayers did was almost exactly what the definition says. He gave aid by attempting to interrupt the US war effort.

Box - if you're going to stretch the meaning of treason to include what Ayers did, you're also going to have to stretch it to include what the Bush administration did when they dragged the USA into a preemptive war it could have avoided if Bush had been truthful about his motives.

You can't have it both ways - condemning Ayers while letting Bush off the hook for killing over 4,000 Americans. Well, actually, you can, but anyone who uses reasoning and common sense can't.

Last I checked, you don't make the rules.

Ah, but apparently you think you do. Box is right. If you post it on the boards, it's free game for everyone. If you were directing it to one poster only, you know how to use the PM system.

Still got that hardon, I see.

:D

Ayers isn't the real issue, is he, though? Ayers wasn't convicted of anything, he's a university professor now and a solid citizen of his community. The people who put him on the boards he serves on with Obama did so because of his standing in the current society--and Obama didn't put him on those boards, and he didn't put Obama on those boards. Obama was eight years old at the time of Ayers's radical period--radical, yes, but in pursuit views that now are considered by many to have been the correct views to have--and in reaction, at the time, to forces that were every bit as extreme as he is. And Obama and he are only tenuously connected anyway. Certainly not even as close as McCain is with those known international criminals George Bush and Dick Cheney.

It's an issue now because the Republicans are desperate, because this is the sort of crap campaigning they've been doing for years, and because McCain can't compete on the issues that really need to be discussed now--the quagmire in Iraq and the economy (which are not mutually exclusive issues).

Obama's answer to this is the right one--go ahead and dredge up the Keating Five business. That, at least, has a relevance to the economic issues the campaigns should be facing--certainly more than Ayers issue does.

Still have sophomoric responses rather than ones on point (since you don't have anything you can say on point), I see. :D

Pot, kettle, baby. :D

(actually, it's more than a little sophomoric to follow me around like you do)

Follow you around on a 54-page thread that everyone and her sister have posted to? That's a response you consider on point? :D

No one here is blind, but whatever gets you off, I suppose. *shrug*

Ayers ...

While pointing out, of course, that McCain is dodging issues and resorting to personal attacks.

Oh good lord...

It's the ENQUIRER.

Mud is mud, whatever its source. Will these people be slinging anything similar at Obama/Biden?

My thought, too.

Next, they'll be flinging Weekly World News headlines that prove Obama is an alien.

Ya know... I might believe that one... those EARS... they COULD be receivers of some sort... :D

I think you should write them and tip them off about Obama being an alien! :cathappy:

Aren't we comparing the amount of mud being slung at the different candidates? If so, why would not the Enquirer be included as well as Moveon.org and anything else with a fairly wide readershp? If the headlines you mention are printed, you can complain about them.
