Black Hawk
"Now we must ride"
Had he said these words?, he hadn't wanted too. He wanted to keep on kissing her, feeding the passion that was growing in his head, in his heart, in his whole body.
But he had felt a cool breeze on his back and took it to be a sign, a sign that he must also remain cool, knowing that is sometimes a good thing, that as a cool breeze cools the fire, lightly fanning the flames so that they glow and not go out but not so hard that they burn too brightly either but maintain a steady heat that lasts and lasts. If he wanted this feeling to last he must fan the flames lightly at first until the fire gains the strength to last.
Reluctently he had helped to mount his hand enjoying the feeling of touching her not wanting to leave the softness of her skin.
Astride his horse again he looked over at her and knew that she had felt what he had and by her playfulness he knew that she was happy with what they had just shared and that that was enough for her too until they had time to rekindle the flames and enjoy the fire together again.
The day passed quickly, and as they approached the valley the dusty trail turned to a grasy prairie, They approached a river and followed it down. willow trees grew in profusion along its banks and birds and small animals begn to appear in the under brush. The cool breze was at their backs and seeemed to urge them forward they could both feel the spirit move in this place. Black Hawk looked over at Shining Star and wondered. She rode so naturally without a saddle only a rope bridle with no bit to guide her mare who moved easily under her he could see her guiding the mare more with her knees than her hands and saw the mare respond feeling the womans wishes. He looked at her flaming red hair and her blazing green eyes and wondered about her forefathers, Irish, maybe he had heard about the Irish in history books the mission had given to the indian. They were a proud people who rode well and loved life. maybe she was more like his people than he had realized somewhere in their distant backgrounds maybe they had risen from the same tribe. That was a comforting thought that even though they were so different the tone of their skin, the way they had been brought up, and the place they had come from, they were still much the same. Except of course he was a man and she was a woman and that was a good thought too not neccesarily a comforting one but an exciting one.
The river flowed into a lake that filled one corner of the huge valley. It seemed to stretch for miles, they could barely see the far shore. in the west the sun was setting on the horizon. As they dismounted and they walked to the edge of the water. Black Hawk took Shining moon in his arms to continue the kiss they had began that morning.
