Schools For New Mutants

Zoe

Zoe blinked. Okay, that had been a little unexpected.

"I would like that, thank you..."

Joseph smiled and moved forward to take Zoe's hand in his.

"Great, we are going to have some fun."

He turned to the others and said, "We'll be here in four hours and I promise that we won't get into any trouble. Well, not much that is."

He then looked at Zoe and began to walk with her away from the group who were standing there watching him. He knew what they were thinking but as far as he was concerned they could think anything that they liked but he knew that they were wrong and that he was just escorting Zoe around the mall.

"Okay. Where would you like to go to first?"

Im on my way to work but Ill post later tonight, I just wanted to log on to say WELCOME BACK!!!!
:D

OOC re:Angel

*G* Sorry about that mfucker. I had read a post earlier where you were referred to by another character as him and could not find any other reference to gender. (post will be edited.)

OOC: Thank you Inkubus and Billy for that warm welcome. I am happy to be back into the Lit cycle.

Cai Chan: Inquiry

Cai gazed at the credit card in uncertainty. She had never seen one, let alone used one, before. In truth, she could not even remember ever going shopping. She had run away from home several years ago, and since then had lived by theft. Being expected to buy things was a new concept to her. One she had no idea of how to fulfil. Joseph and Zoe had lept from the car together in eagerness, which was a shame. She hoped to ask him to teach her, since he had been nice to her in the car. Now she would have to turn to the others.

"Umm.. Sorry, I've never shopped before. Can someone show me how to do it?" She glowed bright red as the feeling of complete stupidity washed over her.

Zoe

Zoe began to fidget. "Oh... I don't have much of a preference. I guess anywhere would be fine." She looked around. "Unless... do they have a bookstore here?"

Joseph looked around, trying to find a bookstore until he saw a sign that was one level higher than them. He turned to Zoe, "Yeah, they have a bookstore. It is just up there.... would you like to go up there first?"

Joseph looked at Zoe and saw that she was still a little frightened and then wondered what was wrong. Then he realized it, she was nervous but she didn't really have to be- she was here with people that would watch her and help her when she needed it, especially him.

Rache

Rachel was about to soar into the mall when she heard Cai's comment. Rachel was struck with memories of her own childhood and the fact that she never really had anybody to show her how to be a 'lady' much less a human in 'normal' society. It had taken a long while to come out of her shell and maybe it was time she helped others with that too. "Cai I may not be the best example, but if theres one thing im good at is shopping. " Rachel stepped up beside Cai and said "Welcome to the magic of the mall, true mall ettiquitte can make you or break you. Here you can redesign yourself within a couple of hours from hairstyle to fashion to gear. You can dress to impress or buy in block to follow the flock, The question is do you want to fit in or stand out with style?"

Vincent

Vincent eavesdropped on the ladies as they talked. He knew so little about style. His idea of shopping was stopping by Goodwill or the D.A.V surplus store and buy a few pounds of clothes that either fit him or were baggy. With his powers Clothes didnt usually last the wear and tear of his body. He noticed Martin's Comment about travelling in groups and the logic was sound, although Vincent would have to over come his loner attitude. He also pondered the computer request, he hadnt even considered the possibilty that they could buy leisure items. In fact he couldnt even recall owning leisure items. Vincent agreed he wanted some. He rembered an aptitude for stringed insturments and a love of music from a life long ago."Martin, I agree theres safety in numbers." He looked nervously at Ms.Frost "Is it okay if I buy leisure items too?"

Cai Chan: Gratitude

Cai looked at Rachel with a mixture of gratitude, relief and uncertainty. She was certainly grateful that Rachel had agreed to help her, and relieved not to be laughed at or thrown out, but what were all these phrases? "Dress to impress." "Buy in block to follow the flock." "Stand out with style." In fact, the only phrase which meant anything to her was "fit in" which was something she had never done.

Cai shrugged and smiled meekly. "I-I don't know. Umm.. all I've ever done before is steal clothes to keep warm."

Which was certainly true, as anyone looking at her ragtag of assorted clothing could tell. Nothing matched, nothing was new, and certainly nothing was stylish. This, Rachel could see, was a girl who needed help.

OOC: Forgot to say it in the last post, but welcome back Isolde. It's really good to have you back. Hope things are going well for you.

Emma Frost

OOC: Thank you, BadForm and everything is going quite well. Except for the fact that I decided to move to one of the hottes states during the summer months! I never said I was brilliant!

IC: Emma smiled at Vincent and nodded.

"You may buy whatever you wish. I wish you all to be comfortable in your rooms at the academy since you will be living there for quite some time. Purchase whatever you see fit to make yourselves at home. Computers would be a wonderful idea as they will help you with your school work. You can get your hair done at the stylists and you can even spend some relaxing hours in the arcade if you wish. Just make sure that we are all gathered together at the food court in four hours."

Her smile widened a bit. "Those of you who do not have watches may want to pick one up first thing. And make sure you each have plenty of comfortable clothing." As if reading his thoughts about clothing, she added,"Vincent, you may want to store up some extra. Now, does anyone have any other questions or are we ready to shop?"

Vincent

Vincent practically beamed. He had never bought 'new' clothes before. Having extra was a dream come true. As for making ourselves comfortable He had always wanted a cd player and some cd's , and a guitar, he had vaugue memories of somone loving him, someone who played on a beat up acoustic guitar. Vincent wanted one as he was about to take off he looked at Martin "Okay where too?"

Professor X

Xavier looked carefully at Angel and Lucas, and decided that each of them was physically sound, but could use a dose of 'normality' to help them adjust to life in the school. Hopefully, it would enable each of them to form bonds of trust with the other students, as well as with himself.

Speaking aloud to all the gathered students, Xavier said "I have mentally examined each of you, including our new arrival, Lucas, and determined that, physically, there is nothing wrong with you to prevent you taking part in our first outing. If you will all come with me?" He led them to a specially converted van, one which he could drive himself, and they loaded themselves aboard, riding off into the bright September afternoon.

Lucas

I nodded at the Professor. So many questions in my mind, yet I could tell this was not the time for them. I could wait, practice patience as my Grandmother, and come to think of it, just about everyone else, had told me I should.

Helping Angel up, I keep my hand near her elbow until she is safely in and seated near the front. Then, I took a seat towards the back, near a window. Looking out on the afternoon, with the leaves just on the point of igniting into the flames of autumn, I let my mind drift over the past two years, the days and evenings spent travelling by foot and freight cars. It struck me, suddenly, I had no idea what this outing involved.. Someone dropped into the seat beside me. I turned and asked, "Where are we going?"

Tara

"Shopping," I answered.

Angel was safe up by the Professor, and I could ask her more questions as we shopped. For now, I wanted to make sure this Lucas fellow was alright.

"Professor Xavier wants us to buy the things we need."

I gathered my hair into a short ponytail, and sighed, looking sideways at him. "What's troubling you, Lucas?"

Martin

"First, Vincent, you need some swim trunks that fit you, mine were a bit too big. I could use some comfortable clothes too. Let's hit the big departrment store, Macy's. They might even have computers. " I like that idea. He and I could hit a different store for games and stuff.

"Any one else going that way?" I call to the others.

Thank you, Vivid. Aside from some car troubles it did go well. I just have to remember not to move somewhere where the lows are in the 80s in the summertime.

Lucas

I glanced at Tara. Again, the impression I had somehow seen her before, even if just in passing came strongly to me. I found myself about to say something about that, then realized just how hokey it would sound..."Hey, haven't we met before, say New York or Boston or maybe when I was sitting naked in a sweat lodge and lost in vision?"

I chuckle instead. "Me? I'm fine. Just a little tired, I guess. I've been on the road a lot lately." No sense talking about those who are after me, Feniman and his crew. He won't try around others, particularly humans. The fiasco at the reservation, I think, got his reins pulled short. And I get the feeling that these folks here have enough worries on their minds.

Thinking back on that, the deaths of those who were my family and friends, picks again at that hard knot of rage and grief deep within. I quickly change the subject.

"Shopping. Cool. Haven't been shopping in a long time."

I look at Tara and wonder again where the heck it is I've run into her, if here or in the Otherworld. I've no idea what her mutation is; she looks normal, lovely even, with the falling sun catching her hair and dancing about in flickers of red and gold.

"Where are you from, Tara?" I ask, figuring maybe that might give me some clue as to this feeling of having seen her before. "How'd you end up here?"

Zoe

Zoe shook her head. "I can come back later... so I'll have more time to look."

Not that there was anything she needed to buy in there -she was having difficulty thinking of anything that she wanted or needed, period. Someone had said something about computers earlier; that might be nice, but it was something she could do later, as well.

"I guess I'll just follow you."

Joseph looked at Zoe and almost shook his head, she has to get out of her shell and stop being so shy. If she was going to be a part of this team then she was going to have to open up to every one here. He took her hand in his and started to walk towards the clothing store that he had seen and wondered what he was going to buy in there although he wondered what she was going to buy.

As soon as he entered the store the first thing that Joseph saw was the long black trench coat and said, "Oh god, that is so me. If I don't grab that I will be kicking myself later."

As soon as he had said it he heard a laugh beside him and looked at Zoe with a smile.

Angel:

All this was too much for my mind in a single day. After vaguely thanking Lucas for his help with a weak smile, I lay back on the seat, and fell into a light nap. Some rest would do me good; besides there was a long day ahead in town.

Tara

I grinned and sat back, watching the road ahead of us. "New York City, itself... but before that Dublin, Ireland," I answered

I turned to look at him, feeling his eyes bear down at me. He seemed confused, even if just slightly. "You're wondering why I'm a mutant..?"

His eyes widened slightly and I simply chuckled. "I guess it's a reasonable question... what with coming to the Professor's School."

"I'm a DreamWalker... at least that's the name I came up for it. I can enter people's Dreams, share it with them. I bounced around through foster homes, hearing about this Professor Xavier gentleman who had a soft spot for... people like us. I started sending letters, emails... calling him and finding out information about this School to learn how to control my powers."

I smiled softly and tucked a stray piece of hair behind my ear. "The DreamWalking isn't so bad, really. It just startles the other person. But I need to learn how to control this.... weird beam of light. Don't ask me why, but when I get upset, it puts people to sleep... Or starts an amazing fire."

"Can I ask you the same question?"
