Schools For New Mutants

Rachel

Rachel led Zoe back to the group and watched the introductions. When she heard the Simpsons line her face lit up.She grimaced when she realized who said it. "I guess someone whos a simpsons fan cant be all bad', she thought to herself. "pretty good but do you know all the words to the Oscar Mayer song?" She winked as she said it but for now she kept her distance.

Cai Chan: Introductions

Cai listened to the introductions with increasing nerves. That meant she was going to have to introduce herself to the others too, and that was frightening. She hated putting herself forwards. However, it was even more embarrassing to be the last one.

"Umm... I'm Cai," she said. "Cai Chan... but I'm afraid I'm not a mutant. Sorry."

Two had said they were mutants, and that had her confused. Had there been a mistake in inviting her? She wanted to understand. However, she shouldn't have said it. Now they would make her go away. Her cheeks glowed red as she stared at the floor.

Angel:

Suddenly the sensations that I felt when I first came over to the School returned to me. I froze on the spot, and held my head, as if in pain. Yet it all seemed distant, detached almost.

I turned, and saw a young man, barely 20 running through the gates. Like I was, he seemed to be running away from someone, or something.

Joseph turned to look at everyone with a smile before starting to hum the Oscar Meyer weiner song, causing everyone to look at him. He grinned at them and said, "What.... so I know the song, does that make me some kind of freak? Oh, that's right, I'm not."

He looked at Zoe and saw that she was pretty scared and didn't know what she was doing here so he walked up to her and said, "There is nothing to worry about here. You are with friends now and if you need anything, anything at just call on me and I will help in any way that I can."

Zoe

"Thank you..." Zoe nodded, and gave Joseph what could best be described as a smile, masked by the neck of her sweater.

Still, she didn't seem to relax much. But that was likely just part of her nature... given time, she'd warm up.

Tara

I winced suddenly, a sharp pain entering my mind. But it was gone as quickly as it came. But my thoughts shifted to Angel. The twisted look on her face, the pain behind her eyes... something was wrong.

Instantly, I moved to her side, gripping her shoulders carefully. "Angel? Angel, what's wrong? What's happening?"

Mentally I called out. I didn't have telepathic abilities.. but just maybe the Professor could hear me...

Professor Xavier!

Professor X

Xavier closed his eyes and concentrated, sending a telepathic message to the new arrival at the gates, Lucas, welcome. You are safe now. Just proceed to the mansion, and you will see the rest of the students out front, along with myself.

He then spoke out loud, to Tara, "Tara, I am aware of Angel's distress, and am trying to determine the cause of her difficulties. Please welcome our new student, running up to the mansion right now. His name is Lucas."

Then, having spent a few seconds probing Angel while he spoke to Tara, he joined Angel in her mind, creating a peaceful vista of rolling fields, flowers, and sunshine in which they could talk, Angel, I cannot determine what is bothering you so, unless I thoroughly probe your mind. I am reluctant to do that, but, fortunately, there is an alternative: You can help me; join me as we explore your subconscious together. Will you help me help you? In her mind, the image of Xavier extended his hand to Angel's mental self.

Lucas @ Xavier's School

Lucas felt the touch on his mind, heard the voice. It sounded familiar and yet different than he remembered from those nights when he had fasted, had opened himself up to the vision. He slowed to a jog and approached the great house.

He could smell among the people out front not only each individual, but the feelings that seemed to emanate from their pores. Lucas sensed frustration, fear, anxiety, excitement. the anxiety seemed strong, yet it was a sense of great calm, of great power that caused him to slow, then stop, staring.

From the center of the group, a man sitting in a wheelchair, looking for all the world frail, gave off the greates sense of power that Lucas had ever encountered, even juring his wanderings among the mutant underground. The young Native American mutant felt the hair along his neck and back raise, yet at the same time, felt no fear.

Lucas walked slowly over to where the Professor sat and stood before him. He realized that this was indeed the one he had been urged to seek out. Lucas studied him for a while, then, realizing the man was dealing with yet another of the young people among him,

Lucas slowly folded himself into cross legged sitting position on the ground before the Professor. Patience he had learned the hard way, and it deserted him from time to time, but for now, he felt he could wait a while longer before asking why he was here. This was one of those moments as his Grandfather had taught him, when wisdom could best be had by waiting, listening, observing.

In that time of waiting, he studied those around him. Some had expressions of curiosity, others of trepidation. Lucas became acutely aware of his grimy, tattered appearance and felt his face flush.

Emma Frost

As the students gathered in front of the main building of the Massachusetts Academy, a long stretch limo pulled up, its windows darkened to the outside world. "Everyone climb aboard now." Emma smiled at them, "Here at the Massachusetts Academy, we do things in style! After all, what is the point of being the inheritors of the Earth if we can't live well? Oh, and boys, help yourselves of the wet bar, but consider how annoyed I might become if you embarass me with drunken behaviour." A chill passed through the group at the frost in her voice, then passed with the excitement of heading out to the city.

Vincent

Well it wasnt exactly the the sawdust on the floor saturday night scuffle kind of places he had in mind... but something had to be said for travelling in style. Alcohol had about as much affect on Vincent as food. It was ingested by his body chemistry and if he was lucky it would produce some kind of flavor. But Vincent led a very bland life...the sweetest taste was mutant powers but in a car load of friends that would be a bad idea to snack. Vincent watched his new found 'friends' pile into the lap of luxury and almost smiled as he thought to himself..."you know this could be fun."

Tara

I was even more shocked when the Professor spoke aloud to me. I hadn't realized he'd come outside! Either way, the voice calmed me, relaxing my nerves somewhat. While I still wanted to help Angel, my thoughts were turned to Lucas instead.

He was handsome beneath his flushed appearance... but he had been running. Long dark hair that looked good on him... I smiled softly.

"Hello, Lucas. I'm Tara."

Joseph sat back in the limo and looked at everyone with a smile. They were finally go to go out and have a little fun and he was looking forward to that. It was a weird thing but he was waiting to get out and wreak a little havoc, not destroy things but wreak havoc. He moved towards the wet bar and grabbed himself a can of Coke then turned to the others and said, "Is there anything that I can get for you or are you all alright?"

Cai Chan: Reservation

Cai shrank back into the rear seat, keeping her eyes away from the others, hoping not to draw attention. If all these people were mutants, powerful ones she was guessing, she had no idea why Ms. Frost wanted her there. Of course, there's always been the name calling she suffered, but that was just stupidity. It wasn't that she was a supermutant, or even a mutant at all, just that sometimes, when she had blackouts, strange things happened. Maybe Ms. Frost thought she could protect Cai. That seemed ridiculous. What was in it for her? In Cai's experience nobody did anything for nothing, and she had nothing to offer Ms. Frost.

Joseph's question cut through her musing. "Umm..." she said looking up. "J-just a water please."

Then, realising she had been the first to speak, she blushed.

Joseph looked at Cai with a smile then looked over at the wet bar, "Hmmm water, water, water.... oh yeah, water."

He grabbed a bottle of water and handed it to Cai, "There you go lovely lady."

He then noticed that Cai seemed to be trying to hide herself from everyone else and wanted to ask her why but he knew that there was a reason for it and if she wanted to tell him then she would in her own time. He sat back but kept his eyes on her, trying not to look like he was staring at her.

Lucas

Lucas realized his travel stained clothing: the tattered running shoes, the worn, torn jeans, the faded black leather vest he wore without a shirt, might have something to do with the wariness of the other students. Not to mention the thong around his neck with the five teeth that rested against his chest.

So, he was a bit surprised when one of the students spoke to him, with a near musical lilt to her voice. An attractive young woman, about his own age, Lucas reckoned, whose curly hair caught the outdoor lights with highlights of deep red. She seemed...what, somehow familiar as if he had passed her upon a street at some point.

or within the wandering of your visions whispered a faint inner voice, the one Lucas had come to identify with his spirit guide, the wolf, totem of his clan who had likewise urged him to trust the messages of that mysterious figure he had called the Shaman, whom he thought might somehow be linked with the man in the wheelchair, the one the others called "Professor".

Blinking back his surprise, Lucas inclined his head toward Tara and smiled.

"Tara, it's good to meet you," he replied with his voice in its natural deep timbre.

Angel:

Now it seemed like a whole new barrier. Picking up thoughts and emotions from others was one thing, but now actually moving in my subconscious was an entirely new concept to me.

Feeling almost as if Professor was in front of me, I reached out my hand physically, and felt our hands connect. A warm, soothing and almost fatherly sensation overwhelm me, as I break out of my trance and collapse on the ground. It was too much for one day.

I opened my eyes, and saw that everyone else was focused on Lucas, the new guy who just arrived.

Martin

"I'll take a Sprite, Joseph." I smiled my thanks when he passed it.

"So what is on the list to buy, Director Frost?"

Emma Frost

Emma sat back and smiled as the limo purred along the road. It, like all things in her school, ran smoothly. Saying nothing but simply sitting back and letting her students interact, occasionally probing to check feelings and attitudes but never evasive enough to be detected by the probee, the miles slide away and they were soon in town.

As the driver pulled up alongside a curb, Emma motioned for all of them to stay put for a moment. Catching each one's gaze, holding it for a moment and then going onto the next one, she cleared her throat before beginning.

"We are here, boys and girls," She said to them in a voice that was a mixture of calmness as well as sternness,"Now, I will remind all of you that people that are apart from us...those not trusting of our kind...can be more than cruel. I will caution you to act normal while you are in their world and to remember that soon that world will be ours. The time is not right to act today...not with so many untrained in the use of their powers. That time will come later. Right now if insult is handed to you-shake it off and go on. We are here to shop and spend a relaxing afternoon before school starts. And nothing more. I hope everyone understands the reasoning behind that."

A smile came upon her lips after she spoke, making her face soften and she nodded. "Good, now lets go and have that afternoon I promised you."

The driver opened up the door upon Emma's mental prompt and everyone got out. They stood before a huge mall with many stores, people already going in and out of the large doors that lead into the air conditioned inside.

"I have full charge accounts at all the stores," She said handing each of them cards that identified them as her students and able to freely charge items to her account. "This should help each of you 'flesh out' your possesions quite nicely. We will meet in the Food Court at eight o'clock on which is," She looked at her slim gold watch on her shapely arm,"Four hours from now. And remember...I will know if there is any trouble so lets all 'play nice' at least for now."

Lucas

OOC: I'm more comfortable writing in first person, so I'm changing viewpoints.

IC: I see the one they call Angel sway, then start to collapse. Rising from my seated position in a single motion, I spring forward to catch her before she hits the ground. There's a scent of anxiety, exhaustion, even fear...a fear I recognize and wonder who Angel flees from. Could Feniman be after her, too?

I lower Angel to the ground and look at the Professor.

Zoe

Ms. Frost's words had stricken an odd note in Zoe. They had seemed off somehow...

She shook her head. Forget it, it was nothing...

Zoe played around witht he card in her hands. Free reign in any store here... nice. That brought up the question of what exactly she would need to buy; all her worldly posessions were in her duffel back at the Academy. She glanced over toward the others, and decided just to tag along for awhile...

Martin

I didn't catch too much of what Ms. Frost said in the limo. Probably something like the 'world is our oyster' or some such motivational speech. I did catch the message to stay out of trouble and of unlimited accounts at all the stores.

Aww, Man! Free reign!?

"I want a computer." I say upon exiting the limo. I'd always wanted a computer. Mom and Dad had a PC 486 turbo. (They thought the 'turbo' in he name made it faster. It did, compared to a 1967 Voltswagon with no engine.) The thing sounded like it was churning peanut butter whenever you asked it to copy files.

"I want a computer." My tone was definitive. I also want games. In recent years my parents were afraid that any of the games with the scary monsters in them would show up in my nightmares, and then show up on our doorstep. Syill, I want games!

"We should probably go in either two's or three's, so we don't get too lost or into too much trouble on our own." I mention casually.

Joseph looked around and decided that he needed one thing, clothes. He looked at Martin who said that he needed a computer and even though that sounded good he needed some new clothing above all. He looked at Martin and said, "If you are going to buy a computer and you know what you are looking for then can you grab one for me please. But I need something to wear."

He then turned to Zoe and looked at her with a smile and said, "I would like it if you would accompany me but if not then I will understand. Would you like to come with me?"

OOC: ok great...just because of Buffy and Angel so i must be a guy? :) angel's a girl sweetie....
