When i had that period of time where i couldnt get on lit and i came back, i was really really surprised to see that SS hadnt started yet!

I do think it needs to be done earlier, and there needs to be about a month for people to decide to take part.

I'm gonna get a PO box for next time though. I can't risk what happened with Vana's present- where mum opened it. And with Zade's where she can't remember if it has innuendo or not...so i had it sent to my best mate's.

My intention wasnt to stir up anything, just want more pressies! lol

When my family use to exchange names we did it the night we opened gifts so that we had a full year to find deals and really neat stuff.

Only one problem doing this on such a large scale is losing who you have and continually bugging the person playing Mr or Mrs Claus to remember who you had.

So it turns out my present was returned. I assume my post office fucked up once again. I told them before that I may receive packages with my pen name or completely different names on it (since friends and family from Germany often order American ebay and Amazon stuff that's too expensive to ship overseas - and then my sister takes it all home in her suitcase for Christmas).

So now I felt that I had to tell SJ my real name. It's been my most closely guarded secret on lit, and it felt so weird giving it away. I trust SJ, but still...

Teee Heee, In in Canada folks, I forgot not everyone has Boxing day!

It's really weird, we are getting so Americanized up here, never were stores open on Sunday, now they are. Never were stores open on Boxing day, now they are. But, most of the stores are starting their sales this week instead of waiting until the 26th.

Maybe we could do an EL thing and have Christmas in July, where we can put in our names for the SS draw so we have a few months of craft shows etc to hit before we HAVE to go shopping.

Jen - I know what you mean, but you could have maybe put your maiden name? Thats why I'm not too bothered putting my name on things right now, by the end of next year (hopefully) it won't matter.

For the value of what we had to stay to, you could have made up a name and address, it isnt like they check your id when you take it to the post office.

Or, send it to someone you know a bit more personally and have them ship it the rest of the way if they are more comfortable sending it.

Exactly! That's why I am rather upset. They could at least ask me whether it's mine instead of just sending it back without even checking with me. I've received so much random mail in my mailbox with a name on it that clearly wasn't mine, that I've had to forward. I checked with SJ, and she does have the correct address for me, it's the only explanation I can think of.

My mom finally got into the habit of ordering everything she has sent to me under a name made up of my first and last name, but as middle name she used her first name, not my actual middle name. So they'll have the correct first and last name for me, but I'll still know it's hers.
