OK, having got my poor recipient, did we finally decide on a $ charge? $10 or $15? (for the resident Brits, that's £5.71 or £8.71)

Nobody's really giving an opinion, so I would say go with what you're comfortable with. But no one should buy (or expect) really expensive gifts, obviously.

If anyone's got an overseas address, they should take into account the extra cost of postage. I posted a small package to the UK yesterday, the postage, airmail, cost me $8.

Remember also, you need to complete a customs declaration form, on which you have to indicate the grouping (gift, commercial, etc. - just tick gift, then there'll be no excise duty to pay the other end.), what's inside it, and its value. This can really spoil any surprise, so I tend to use generic terms, such as 'stationery' or 'confectionary'. Something like a cd is a bugger, unless you put it down as electronic entertainment. One has to become creative, without breaking the rules.

And yes, IT IS mandatory to include a return name/address. And the post office prefer that this goes on the front, along with the addressee (just in smaller text), something to do with the electronic reading of addresses. If its on a separate side, the system could read that address as the destination, and then send the whole darn thing right back to you. I found that out on Saturday when I posted a whole pile of packages to the UK.

Not quite sure what to do/get/buy for this one......needs some thinking.

I simply assumed we would be opening them on Christmas Day, althought, thinking about it, it might be better to set a date/time (taking into account time zones), when just about everyone would be on line and opening at the same time. It would be so much fun to try an imagine the sound of ripping paper, the groans or squeals of delight (hopefully).

Perhaps we could take suggestions, and put it to a vote??

With a few exceptions, it was completely random. A few people picked their own numbers, so I swapped them out. In those cases, I actually handpicked their match but I told them I did it.
