Senate Shenanigans

Keep compiling those Lindsey Graham "Said then/says now" video clips for use in the 2020 election. He's up for reelection this time. Let him sink himself.

this second is the shorter of the two but the heart of the matter

his statements about crime and legality at the time of the clinton impeachment and those he espouses now are poles apart. he, however, claims he was not 'wrong' then but is 'just more right' now.

uh huh

‘Your head will be on a pike’: GOP senators warned to stay on Trump’s side in impeachment trial

That's some old school threatening!

Republican senators received a violently metaphorical threat before the impeachment vote.

One of President Donald Trump’s confidantes said GOP senators were warned not to vote for impeachment — or else, reported CBS News.

“Vote against the president and your head will be on a pike,” senators were told, according to the confidante.

It’s not clear who delivered the message or how it was sent.

Sounds like Michael Cohen.

Isn't this the message Rand Paul is sending? I don't see the difference. Republican senators who don't vote to remove have their heads on pikes anyway. No reason why they shouldn't do the decent thing in these circumstances rather than damn their families for all time.

All anybody wants is for the Senate to do the right and decent thing:

Dismiss the impeachment farce.

How very much like a King...

He is not a pantomime King on a Monty Python show,
and he is not King Henry the VIII in a costume drama-

"head on a pike"

I doubt Dummy Donnie has ever seen a pike.

(Is Presiderp binge watching "Game of Thrones" ?

Why is it a farce?

It's a farce because the Republicans and board Trumpettes won't support removal in spite of the abuse of power article of impeachment being self-evident and Trump having admitted publicly (and stupidly) to both charges.

I got an auto-email reply from one of my state’s senator who I emailed urging fairness. He’s replied citing republican talking points and toeing the party line.

Well, because it's plain to see that the sole purpose of the whole impeachment was for Pelosi's political purposes. There never was any question of Trump committing a crime, that's all bogus and even if it DID have any truth, not a single shred of (legally) admissible evidence has been produced. Of course, how could it have been, since nothing illegal happened.

In fact, there is a far stronger case against Pelosi than anything she's thrown at Trump.

Nice to know you think Trump is King
Or will he choose Emperor as his title?
I guess it won’t hurt you in Russia

What Do We Even Say About Marsha Blackburn at This Point?

The silly senator has been on a real bender during the president's impeachment trial

Marsha BlackburnSen. Marsha Blackburn is not a serious person, but she has a serious job. Well, at least until recently, one assumed it was a serious a job. In any case, she doesn't take it seriously.

The internet was abuzz yesterday when Tennessee's junior senator was seen reading a book during the ongoing impeachment trial, which is only the third such trial of a president in American history. Blackburn confirmed on Twitter that she was catching up on reading. This understandably annoyed people. Senate Republicans have generally adopted the attitude of overprivileged teens annoyed at being asked to pay attention during civics class. They've spent the week mocking the idea that they should even have to sit through this trial or listen to even the suggestion that the Dear Leader has done anything wrong.

But Blackburn in particular has been on a bender. After touting her book of choice — Kimberly Strassel's Resistance (At All Costs) — Blackburn turned her attention to Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who offered damaging testimony before congress in November about President Donald Trump's now-infamous phone call with the Ukrainian president. Vindman is an Iraq War veteran who earned a Purple Heart. But Blackburn has been questioning his patriotism ever since he dared to testify about the president in a less-than-obsequious manner.

Nashville Paper cites, "Local Girl Screws Pooch!" :)

Share some of that weed.

How does not being guilty of a crime make Trump either king or emperor?

And Biden's russian connections have nothing to do with this, either. Those crimes actually happened, but that's on Biden and the Democrats

McConnell under pressure to wrap up Trump impeachment trial quickly without alienating wavering GOP senators

According to a report from Politico, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is under pressure from the White House and some of his Republican colleagues to move quickly to acquit Donald Trump by speeding up his impeachment trial while not upsetting some wavering GOP lawmakers who are fearful for their reputations in an election year.

The report notes that a Trump acquittal is a foregone conclusion, with GOP lawmakers admitting as much.

“The question is going to come to ‘Have you heard enough to make a decision or do you want witnesses?’ If people say, ‘We’re ready to vote,’ we’re going to vote right then,” explained Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY).

When Mitch looses the first R Senator, there may be a landslide of Defectors (R)!:)

Which crimes actually happened?

Never mind. You won’t even bother to Google anything.

It's real easy to say that when your state voted over 67% for Trump, Senator. Not all of your colleagues have that luxury.

What are you going to do? Put his head on a pike? ROFL

You're the one that made the call, I'll bet!

Oh, all right, you caught me. I'm a White House operative. This whole anti-Trump schtick was just a cover for me to rally the Republican troops on a porn site. That's why all my stories feature men entering women's locker rooms like Trump did (okay, one of my stories actually does have that, but it was an April Fool's trick and the women in the room wanted the guy there), and always grabbing 'em by the pussy without consent. I can't believe you saw through my disguise!

Adam Schiff: GOP senators should allow Bolton to testify or face the music when his book comes out

Appearing on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) — who is leading the impeachment prosecution of Donald Trump on the Senate floor — said Republicans can now either agree to let former national security adviser John Bolton to testify about the president’s Ukraine scandal or face the wrath of voters when the former White House aide’s book comes out.

“It completely blasts another hole in the president’s defense,” Schiff told the CNN host. “And I think for the senators, and I’m not talking about the four who have been so much the focus of attention, for every senator, Democrat and Republican, I don’t know how you can explain that you wanted a search for the truth in this trial and say you don’t want to hear from a witness who had a direct conversation about the central allegation in the articles of impeachment.”

“Because all of these senators, on March 17th when this book comes out, are going to be asked if they don’t support calling him as a witness, why didn’t you want to hear from him when he could have given you information before you rendered your verdict,” Schiff continued before adding, “I would not want to be in a position to answer that question.”

Now they don't look so smug, do they?:) I bet Susan is 'concerned.':D:D:D

Follow the money on impeachment: Trump bought off McConnell and the rest of the GOP jury — and hints at bigger tax cuts

Republican senators are making millions off of Trump’s tax cuts — and will repay him by betraying their oath.

It’s long been obvious that Republican senators have little interest in serving as impartial jurors in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump. While there is a raft of motivations for such historic perfidy — with several GOP senators politically benefiting from some of the same corrupting influences — one under-examined, non-Russian reason is personal greed.

While the report is a less than shocking look into the kleptocratic ways of the modern GOP, it shows that the transactional core of the 2017 tax cuts has ramifications far beyond the $1.8 trillion increase in the national debt. Republican senators in purple states, like Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and David Perdue of Georgia, have personally reaped hundreds of millions from the tax law and are repaying the president by serving as his impeachment propaganda machine rather than impartial jurors — even as half of registered voters and a majority of independents in a Fox News poll released on Sunday said the Senate should convict Trump.

That last part gives the game away. The promise of continued corporate tax cuts is how Trump builds his 2020 election war chest from the super-rich and buys the continued allegiance of Republican impeachment jurors, even in the face of ever more damning evidence of his public corruption.

But, will they stay, "bought?"

Spines of Jell-O react to Bolton.

Mitt Romney: GOP senators ‘increasingly likely’ to call John Bolton to testify in impeachment trial

“I think it’s increasingly likely that other Republicans will join those of us who think we should hear from John Bolton,” said Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT).

Romney and other Republicans voted to table a Democratic amendment last week, at the start of the trial, that would have added new testimony to the impeachment process — but Bolton’s revelations may force them to call witnesses.

Trump falsely claimed Monday morning that House investigators never called Bolton to testify.

In fact, Bolton did not appear for a scheduled deposition before the House impeachment inquiry, but has said he would comply with a Senate subpoena.

Or, buy Bolton's book and you don't have to hear Suckulow quibble about it!:)

Today we find out if our Senate is "The Greatest Deliberative Body" or the sycophants of the Impeached PeeResident. Whether we have a functioning government or a group of scum sucking check cashers who will do anything, even treason, to support the Orange Menace.
