Serpent's Tooth

"So, you are welcome to take care of that. But I am going to leave this place now, and I want to cover some distance before anyone her shows up or somebody will break out of the cages." She was quite relieved to see the two men coming back. Tendromus had put on the clothes rather hastily and was still finishing while walking, but they did fit and looked respectable - probably his original outfit as he arrived here.
"Good. Waste no more time and get us into that wagon. We leave immediately!"

"Of course mistress..." While Tendromus was still uncertain what exactly was expected of him Krolsheek grabbed the chest with the gold at one handle, and while it cost him some effort to drag it out of the room presumably to where the carriage was waiting. Tendromus merely shot Phyliss a questioning glance, as if to inquire whether he was allowed to follow.

Phyliss touched Tendromus arm gently.
"As I said, you are not our slave, but our companion. If you don't know what to do, just renember the days before you came here."
She stopped suddenly,as if she had forgotten something. "Wait, I saw something back there..."
Phyliss hurried back into the room where she had picked up the clothes, and came back with an small croosbow.
"I saw it, but almost left it behind."
Just as she was at the door, she turned around before she left the building, and called back to Oglaf.
"Say, have you ever seen a gorgon with a pale blackhaired in your life?"

Verialyn eyes the crossbow strangely, somewhat curious why her friend all of a sudden would want to pick up a weapon. "You want to go hunting? Or shoot somone?"

Oblaf meanwhile had to force himself not to roll his eyes. Did she really thing he would be so dumb as to not give her the answer she wanted to hear? "Of course not."

"Very well, so never ever think or say you have met them. I swear, we would get back to you." The gorgon kept the crossbow and walked out and followed the two men who went into a large shed.
"Now let us see our carriage."

"Sure, sure..." Oglaf mumbled as he led them on.

The vehicle in question turned out to indeed be a roofed carriage that could transport up to six person's in its cabin, three on each bench. There was stowing capacity in the back and on the rooftop, and the harnesses seemed to be designed for a total of four horses. All in all the quality of the carriage was rather high, displaying good materials and a meticulous and smoth finish.

"You shoudl be aware" Krolsheek commented " that there are hidden shackles that allow the occupants of the front beck to be fixated to their seats"

"Well, you don't think of shackling me upo there, do you? But we should get going now right away".
Phyliss turned to Verialyn.
"Now we have a carriage, two men, some gold anbd the horses will be prepared right now. Still there is another carriage with two men and even more gold somewhere out there. I want to get out of here right now, but where she we drive next, then?"

"Oh, that's easy." Verialyn replied confidently, while still eying the carriage. "We continue with our original plan, and head for Gorank. They likely passed through there at the very least."

"Very well, to Gorank them. I hope nobody will follow us to soon."
Phyliss climbed into the carriage and made herself comfortable - she prefered to remain unseen this time.

Verialyn followed suit immediately, which left Tendromus and Krolsheek standing out in the open after the slaver had managed to stowe away their treasure.

"I am not sure tendromus is able to handle a carriage" the former slaver finally spoke "So unless mistress objects i would volunteer for that task."

"Very well, I am sure you can handle them, just let us going right now." Phyliss gave a gentle, but not seductive smile to Kroolshek, then she turned to Tendromus. "We can have a talk meanwhile, as we have a task to solve."

That was all the encouragement Krolsheek needed to depart and fetch the horses.

Tendromus gave a brief not, and then, after looking indecisive for a second, inquired "Am I allowed to join you in the cabin?"

"Yes of course...we would like to talk with you. Your experience might help us, especially at places where a gorgon might raise some suspicion."
Phyliss felt better now as she was inside the coach, for a moment she even had a slight familar feeling... was her magic coming back, at least a little? She would see...
"I m just happy if we get out of here. I hope we win some time." She looked over to Verialyn.
"I should have shot Oglaf" she thought, but did not say this. She wondered how Verialyns rection would have been, but maybe she should speak with her in private sme time - there were a lot of things.

Outside the noises could be heard that Krolsheek made as he led the quartet of hurses to their bridles.

Meanwhile Tendromus did not hesitate and rather quickly for hsi advanced age climbed inside, taking a seat next to Verialyn and opposite Phyliss, looking at her expectantly.

"You see, we were traveling in our own carriage with two servants and our luggage, conatining some personal things I don't want to miss, as we were ambushed by some horrible creatures, the wargs, who sold us into slaverey. Some days have passed, and we hope to find our carriage and our possessions again. So, can you help us, as you know this place and it's customs better then we?"

Tendromus frowned, apparently in deed and silent thought for a few seconds, before he finally spoke.

"To find them we would need some sort of lead to start with, I am afraid." He thought some more "Where were you heading when the ambush happened?"

"Actually, we were on our way to Gorank. We stopped for the night when the trouble began." Phyliss found back to her old, selfconfident and professional attidude, and it seemed much easier then she thought. So the wargs, and all the other abusers, did not manage to break her after all.

"Then our best bet is to head there as well." the former merchant concluded. "It is a bit of a long shot, but the best lead we have. And I still might know a guy or two there to help you out."

"Very well. I think we can get along very good together." It was very reasonable that their slaves took the way to the city ahead instead going back to the place they just had escaped bareley with their life. But a few days had passed, and who knew what they did with their possessions... She realized that Verialyn hadn't said anything yet, so she just looked over to her. With some relief she heard that Kroolshek had the horses ready.

"Told ya already, didn't I" Verialyn smiled "Gorank is the place to go."

Before she coudl speak further the wagon started to move ahead, and they coudl hear krolsheek asking from the coach box "Where to, mistress?"

"To Gorank, please," she said. Speaking lower, so that Kroolshek would not hear her, she asekd:
"Isn't it stranged that he thinks he is my servant, while he is still capable of anything else, as it seems?"

Verialyn just shrugged her shoulders.

"I am no expert on these matters. No idea what exactly that healer did to you to alter your posion such, so I can only speculate at best."

"It is as good as anything." said Phyliss, lucky that they started moving after all.
"This time we should reach the city before it gets dark, I presume. Does anyone have some proposals about our travel and plans?"

Another shrug from Verialyn

"Find some rich old guy who is happy to host two lovely young ladies?"

"Well, I like to have my possessions back... But first I want to see how this town had developed. I want to be sure it is somehow safe for a gorgon. So it's good we have an unsuspicious ompanion. What are your plans, Mr. Tendromus?"
