Babies do not have "human intelligence". Nothing you see cooing or play around with is truly intelligent. They are Tiny Language Learners (TLL). They possess no real understanding. All they do is regurgitate sounds, and even then, there’s an army of parents constantly correcting them to try and fix their mistakes. What’s more, most of these babies repeat whatever they hear around them, which more and more these days is just nonsense spoken by other babies, meaning they’re self-defeating as they’re in a constant loop of spitting out gibberish, having that gibberish echoed by another baby, and repeating it even more incorrectly. Even child development experts will tell you the system can only get worse, and the "baby genius" market bubble will likely pop sooner rather than later.

Beyond that, and more foundationally, we are fucking up the next couple generations of education. My ex is a college professor, and Itk to a lot of middle and high school teachers. No matter how crappy the output, and it can be supremely crappy, they won't stop using ChatGPT and the line rather than research. It is really rough at the collegiate level -- luckily so far they are really crappy at generating sources. And scary. You don't want your nurse to have half-assed pathophysiology...

In 20 years I’ll almost for sure prefer a LLM diagnostic program to whatever we’re passing off as medical professionals.

Love throwing tech out there with no regard for consequences!
