Yeah, I'm sure that was what it was. ;)

When you can get those up to two-and-a-half or even three syllables, you'll be eligible for residence in Central Virginia. ;)

LOL. I hope I don't get in slower in my speech patterns.

I lived in VA. Graduated from VCU. I guess, though, up around there, they have more of a "high-tider" accent.

I was just teasing.

The local accent depends on the generation under discussion as well as whether or not that person is from the area or a few counties away. I've heard a few who could drag out monosyllabic words forever.

I live within stone's-throwing distance of VCU. My mother has two degrees from there and my brother has one, too. They're slowly 9or not) buying up all the neighborhood and building more stuff. It's a far cry from what it was thirty years ago.

I haven't lived in Richmond for years, maybe about 15 yrs. ago. I lived on the southside and was forced to pay all those fucking tolls to get across the river.

At that time, only The Fan was popular around VCU. Oregon Hill was still a working class neighborhood. Parked over there many a time. It would be great if they could rebuild their downtown area. Richmond is rich in history and would be wonderful if they could revitalize. I need to go back and visit.

Cum to Camille??? With bells on ya better believe it!!

I have had both but more experience with ones on the lighter side.

I prefer the smaller ones. I am 6'2'' and 250 but built, not sloppy. The smallest girl was by far the best. She was a screamer and liked to do it in any position. She was 5'2'' and 112.

The other one was 5'10 and 150. Athletic but she was a dead lay so that is not a good example. She was only good when she tried to save the relationship.

I have been with a bigger girl and she was crappy. But that was because we had too much to drink. She was 5'4 160. She had a decent shape but her attitude was horrible.

To sum it up, I would say that size matters little in the scheme of things. Attitude is all that counts. You have to be attracted to them but it is their attitude that makes me horney or not. For instance, I prefer ones with sass. Not good for relationships for me. But it is sexy as hell. If she is big or small it don't matter.

I do say that smaller girls are more fun to throw around. I really enjoyed that. I could do things with the one girl that most girls could only dream of.

Hmmmm....need to get laid.

Ah, yes, the Mighty James, which cleaves Planet Earth in twain.

The Fan is still popular, but it is also higher than ever rent-wise. Carver is on the serious rebuild. VCU has/is buying up everything in sight and building like crazy. There is a two-year-old Arts and Crafts building at Shafer and Broad, and the brand-new student apartments at Belvidere and Broad are now open for business as of yesterday.

The Village Cafe has crossed Harrison Street and is now where A Sunny Day used to be. It's still the same old place, but a little larger. Many of the regulars are still the same, too.

Oregon Hill still doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up. The junk houses cost too much, and the renovated ones don't cost enough. There is not enough margin for profit to rehab that stuff, and so the area pokes along.

Broad Street is somewhat spiffier than when you lived here. The City has expanded the convention center considerably. The jury is still out as to whether or not that was a bright move. About the time it opened, some kid got shot to death two blocks from it after a hip-hop festival at Kings Dominion. So, as usual, crime downtown is what's screwing the area up. People from the 'burbs still believe that we are all insane for being here and wonder how it is that we aren't killed by stray bullets every time we set foot out the door. The kids still ride their crotch rockets up and down Broad on the weekend nights, and the cops have cracked down a bit on the late-night trunk thump stereo kids, too. We'll see, for the long run, how it will turn out.

They will never have but so much success downtown, it seems, until something is done to eliminate Gilpin Court and the riffraff therein.

There has been much renovation in the Bottom area, with many of the remaining old warehouse buildings being redone as upscale residential units. Apparently, they are very nice.

I work doing renovation in Barton Heights, a nice near-Northside neighborhood with larger yards than the Fan or Jackson Ward, and detached houses, but still with the front-porch turn-of-the-century charm that makes those old areas quaint. I'm in the process of trying to acquire one of those houses. It was built in 1908 and needs just about everything, but it will be a good opportunity and positive for both me and the area.

And the polititians are still refighting the Late Unpleasantness every chance they get.

Some things change, and others only stay the same.

So, what's your draw to the Bluegrass State?

Wow thanks for the reply. It's nice to hear an update. I'm having trouble remember all my Richmond neighborhoods. I worked a brief internship up on the Northside in a non-profit Community revitlization group. Gosh, can't remember the name. Getting old of late.

Last time I went for a visit, I couldn't believe how much the burbs had continued to expand by leaps and bounds.

How's the "festival marketplace" going? Is it still in business? I know Richmond sunk some major bucks into that flop (well, it was a flop when I was around.)

I'm in KY due to my job. NC is still "home."

Aren't we off the topic of this thread?????????????? :D

The Floppyful Marketplace is slated to meet the wreaking ball soon. There is a debate over saving the footbridge over Broad, but I have yet to hear what will become of it.

Topic? There was a topic? Oh . . . .
