"Mom, I'm home!" I say out loud as I walk into our hotel suite. I am tired, stressed out, and still quite angry from the day's business meetings. Father always told me to keep business away from my personal life, and to forget about work as soon as I come home -- but that's a lot easier said than done.
I find great comfort seeing Mom inside the suite. I walk briskly towards her, kiss her forehead, and then give her a big long hug. I hug Mom wordlessly for awhile, letting the stress of my day melt away while cuddled within the security of her embrace. Somehow, I know Mom will make everything feel alright again.
After a few minutes, I kiss Mom again on her forehead.
"How as your trip out here, Mom? What do you think of our suite, huh? I hope you weren't too bored waiting for me..." I rattle off a bunch of questions while I take my clothes off on my way to the bathroom.
"Oh, by the way, why don't you have the concierge get you a limo so you can do some shopping tomorrow?" I remember to hand her an American Express Platinum card that I opened in her name earlier. I toss my clothes in a pile nearby, knowing that Mom will take care of everything up for me.
"Mom, my neck, shoulders and lower back hurts," I say as I fill the jacuzzi bath/hot tub, and then get in the sauna. "Come talk to me, Mom. Tell me about your day."
I close my eyes and wait for the hot steam and my Mom's voice to relax my sore, tense muscles.
