Should I come out?

'Fraid not. I don't have one either. I'm too simple minded to keep up an alt for more than about twenty minutes.

And if you're actually a man, please don't tell me. I need some fantasies in my life. ;)

(No worries, Rob.)

Shang is having computer issues. He/she/it is occassionally borrowing someone else's to check in. Thats why he/she/it didn't edit my last story. :sniff:

I also don't have an Alt. I am myself. I can't possibly have enough tact to be different in my offline life, how am I supposed to on here?

what was that??

I feel like a bit of a peeping tom here... and although that can be somewhat fun... it just feels confusing right now. Let's see... women who really are women... men who really are men... one who is a he/she/it but isn't here... women who say they are men saying they're women but are only teasing and are really women... and at the heart of it all a man who said he was a woman but wants everyone to know he's really a man who pretended to be a woman, but is afraid to admit for fear he'll face rejection and disappointment from people who thought he was a woman... when he's really a man
Did I get it right?
Ah well... my test for relative importance has always been: will it matter in five years?
But I'm new here... and I don't know the whole story so who SF may have been known as has no impact on me personally
Like I said, I'm just a bit of a peeping tom for now
and it's been very entertaining... maybe because of the confusement

You don't sound confused. I think you got the gist of the whole thing. Welcome to the soap opera. :D

Bloody heck. Are we in gender switching mode here now? What did I miss?

That's it, I'm never leaving this computer ever again.

Whew! I was afraid I would be stuck in a scene out of Ace Ventura - Pet Detective, busy trying to scrub my tongue and mind with a toothbrush. ;)

I think I was a man in a previous life...does that count?

...not as gay, but as a man?

The thing is I have a number of stories on here that I wrote while trying to think like a woman (I was, and still am writing a novel from a female perspective), and I hung around the boards for a while as a woman too. Whilst I am sure that's not unique I do feel about guilty about it, on this forum especially.

This, therefore, is testing the waters. Would you be horrified to find out? Or should i come clean that the person a few of you spoke to doesn't exist (except in my fevered imagination)?

And just in case you're wondering I haven't posted anything for a while.

I would encourage you to come clean if you feel like you want to. :)

This thread is delightful. I'm on the edge of my seat.

Such a lovely mystery - who could it be?

:cathappy:

I agree, but it's killing me. I wish SF would post the answer already.

Thanks all for your input, it has helped a lot. I take the point about telling the important people, and there's only one person on here i would be worried about, so i need to hear from her before I make anything public.

Like I said I haven't said much in a long time, so my name probably won't mean much to most anyway, thouh it may be interesting once i come clean to look up the conversations that I had.

Oh, and as regards my sexuality, I am slightly bisexual and have slept with men but I regard myself as mostly heterosexual (if such things are semantically possible), something I have always been out of the closet about in the real world, and I am happily married.

Well, you're pretty much guaranteed that your name'll mean something to me, unless you're a real old-timer. :D

... Actually I've just had an inkling of whom you might be, although I value my dignity (and hers) too much to have a public guess.

Good on you for coming clean.

Is this one of those ALT things again?
People are still doing that?
It's too confusing to me.

No, this is a bit more complicated. And intriguing.

A Lit author and long-time member (though not posting much recently, they've said) has always presented themselves as being female when they are, in reality, male.

Now they are going to explain it to us all, hopefully preventing any hurt feelings from the select few who may be offended.

Well, dammit.

Got to the end of the thread and didn't find out who it is!!!!

(Shang is out of town at the moment, just so everyone knows.)

Between reading this thread and everyone changing their AV's for the Movie thread....

 I'm one confused..... Uh.....

:p Nope not a frog....
 Nope not cool....
 Uh sometimes....
:catroar: Uh could be...
:nana: Hell no....
 ok closer...
:D Yeah that's the one....

I also just learned that there is a limit on the number of smilies you can use...
