"Utrecht opened its – so far – largest indoor bicycle parking facility. It is the first new permanent solution to park bicycles in the area around central station. Oh they're there. A futile attempt though.
Even if you lock your bike there's a good chance it will be stolen. They're easy to chop off. That's why you don't want to buy an expensive bike for everyday commute.

The resale of stolen bikes is a blooming business.

Of the 5 bikes along the railing, I see 4 locks. They don't lock the bike to anything but they immobilize the back wheel, so you could carry it away, but who wants to carry that much weight?

In Copenhagen, most bikes left on the sidewalk at night are securely locked to a ring-bolt or rail. Private bike parking spots are also signed!
