Should there ever be a bike-porn thread...

Those shoes, that bike, that snow, earbuds and no helmet.

This pic just looks like a whole bunch of trouble brewing.

You would need a quick release on seat post clamp to accommodate different height heels. Hard to pedal circles in them. Bike is okay. Could do with knobbies for snow. Coaster brakes don't freeze up.

No helmet! tsk tsk Uncool!

A calf you know, Rom?

And what's a downhill disc burn?

My calf. For years went around with a greasy chain ring mark on leg, so got one tattooed in. A reminder to stay active. Can't have a radical sport tattoo and be a couch potato.

Disc brake gets so hot on big downhills, when you bail and end up in a heap of bike the front disc burns your leg. Saw some tats done of them too.

Bad luck to have to bail, and then doubly worse to end up with a scorching brake on your bare calf!

The chainring is nicely done. I'd have never guessed it was a tattoo.

I made brush guards like on dirt bikes for my MTB in winter. Let me go down a type in winter glove. Had an early paintball mask I put big yellow fangs on. Would give me an extra 2 foot or so when I looked back at a car coming to close.

Almost bought a coaster equipped bike with one of them enclosed gearboxes. Hated it when the derailleur would freeze up.

Had a pair of East German army surplus bicycle troop pants. The fronts had a silicon type coating on. Used to hate the icky wet pant feeling every time on the upstroke. Cut off thick work socks to use as gaiters.

A simple bandana with hole cut out around mouth for winter riding eventually. With ski goggles. I wear glasses, kept them cleaner, easier to wipe off and eyes did not water real bad on fast downhill descents.

I had to walk out to my bike and press my calf against chain ring for tattoo guy to get the idea. He said it was the strangest tat he had ever done. I thanked him.

Is that big army surplus place still in the downtown corridor?

I used to buy all my stuff like that from there.

Cool! Small world. They're out at Dundas and 3rd (I think) now. In with the flea market.

There used to be that one right downtown. Slowly switched over to new outdoor gear. Closed a couple years ago. They used to be real good for surplus stuff many years ago.

Novack's! On King near Clarence.

Yes, this place used to be downtown near Covent Garden Market. Just east of the river.

Novack's.

Forest City has always been sort of east end on Dundas.

Used to get wool navy/commando style toques from there. Always ended up tossing in the wash and they came out as real thick Tim coffee cup sleeves and warmers.
