Siobhan's fantasy epic of eipc fantasy (open, PM me first)

Petra snorts a laugh "im not maternal but i can try" she climbs into bed, over top of the covers as its summer and its hot. she lays stretched out, looking up at the cieling through the darkness "but most of my stories are about Chaos. what do you want to hear about?"

Kasia chews on a bit of pastry for a moment and looks super thoughtful "do.... do you think.... we have time for that?" She grins and winks at Clancy, then eats a bit more before sipping at her coffee "I know where to find Marius, and he should know where to find Livonia"

Kath falls asleep

"Tell me about the one...(yawn)...where out of the Chaos (yawn) came the Fey...I love that one..."
As Petra tried her best to tell the story, Kath slowly fell asleep, holding her hand. That night, she had the best rest in her entire life...

"city Elves" Kasia nodded "its an important distinction to them, and to their traditional forest bound cousins" She stands up "Marius frequents a park near the elven embassy. He plays chess there." she led Clancy through the mid basin, to a small park across from the wild acreage of the elven embassy. Sure enough, there was the tall muscular elf, hunched over a board, considering a move and glaring balefully at an old man who seemed to have him on the ropes. he finally pushes his king over, giving a small inclination of his head "maybe next time" then stands up, catching sight of the duo.

When Kath woke she'd find Petra already dressed and armed, breaking her fast with a little leftover food from the evening before. Petra nods at the basket "help yourself" as she straps on another dagger "I'll be at the magistrate's, until I can get someone to work the early mornings. You can come with me if you want, or if you want I can find you later at the hospital." she licks her lips and smiles over at Kath "i had a nice time last night. Just wanted you to know"

Kasia grins "no the regular elf lords all like to say they are all one people, so they are just elves. City elves are a phenomena restricted to just this city. Some people claim they actually were "Citta" elves and the word in Homines for City is Citta so maybe? who fucking knows" she shrugs and then they find Marius.

"well, I suppose it might still be available" he shrugs, looking them over, insouciant. "Livonia is consulting with Kazimir's architect about building a college. I'll take you up there. Unfortunately it would mean seizing a lot of the basin land gateside, so it is likely to be more speculative than actual. Who can say though, in these strange times"

Marius hmmms "the issue, is that the only other place to put it is on the other side of the Demonska Planina, which... honestly is a course I favor. sieze a single farm, pay a generous price for it and you have free reign to build whatever you want. Livonia is insisting the school be within the walls and in fair distance to the harbor... i confess to not understand all her reasoning. Kazimir himself wants it inside the city where it will be easier to keep an eye on. Universities tend to produce men of influence and I'm sure he doesn't want any republican nonsense interfering with his feudal monarchy."

Marius nods his agreement "i find the whole prospect somewhat foolish. The clear play is to build outside the wall on the other side of the mountain. or on the mountain itself" Marius shifts his rapier on his hip, then heads off, coat billowing behind him. he gestures, expecting the pair to follow. Kasia looks grim, and still clearly terrified by the man but they need the work if they're not going to complete the Simic job. Marius leads them up the mountain, unchallenged by the guards along the way. They come to a rocky outcropping which offers a good view of the city, and there the similarly dressed Livonia is arguing with the architect "flying buttresses. we set them here and here and we build wide walkways under them, with plantings around..."

Marius clears his throat "the surveyor guards you requested"

Kath wakes up

It was a new day in Gradzlata, and Kath woke up to some delightful wifs of breakfast food. She grabbed a cup of tea, still naked, and kissed Petra good morning.
“Petra, honey, you were absolutely amazing. It seems the Goddess likes you. Makes me excited to…explore more as we go!”
Seeing Petra dressed and ready to go, Kath gulped down her tea and searched chaotically for some decent clothes to wear.
“ I should probably come with you to the Magistrate’s, if we want him to hire me as well. If I can just…find…something non whorish…no, not that one! Not that one!”
After about fifteen minutes of frantic rummaging through her rags, Kath settled on a simple long black dress, and only applied a light coat of makeup. She did keep the dominatrix boots. She liked them. She stared at Petra inquisitively.
“How do I look?”

Petra grins "i dont think you're his type but you look like you're there to fuck" she sips at her own tea, looking Kath over "but ill make it clear what you bring to the table is spell power. I don't suppose you can imobilize a man or anything like that? Also... i mean. it wouldn't hurt for you to have a mace or something if that's not against your religion. and some armor. you know, so our healer doesn't get eviscerated."

Livonia looks up and pushes her glasses up "havent gotten the coat enchanted yet i see" she was clearly informed. The City elf community was small, less than a thousand for sure. Word probably spread fast about much of what came and went through it. "You'll be accompanying my surveyor. Surveying is boring and slow. I expect the job to be boring... and slow. Being in the catacombs though can be fraught with peril. So boring and slow with a chance of peril. You used to stand outside of whore doors so, I imagine you're good at keeping an eye out for trouble while tuning out the work." She looks him over "interesting, using your guns as foci. do they actually shoot real bullets as well?"

Livonia nods "I carry a pistol as I am not a great hulking brute like Master Longinus" she nods at Marius, and while her words seem mocking her tone is almost reverent towards the man. She flicks her wrist and a small pistol appears in her hand "it's only accurate to a few feet and it doesn't have much penetrating power, but you never know when a foe will be protected against sorcery." she opens her coat and lets him see an athame, which are common in the lands surrounding the Elven homeland, and a wand. She lets her coat fall closed again, then gestures at the city "that whole place is built on sand, and yet everyone insists that moving a few buildings will cause a riot. Half of those people don't even understand they are one tremor away from coming face to face with the denizens of the undercity. That it hasn't happened already is nothing short of miraculous." She turns back to Clancy "your adoption of the notion of the pistol and applying it to magic is very like us." she gestures at herself and Marius "we look at human innovation and constantly wonder what we can do to improve it. Often it is nothing. A consequence of your lifespan is the fervor you bring to any project. While we are in contemplation, some other human has likely improved it before we get a chance. Still, in matters of the arcane we do maintain the edge. Your method has an aggressive feel to it. What schools do you favor? I would guess invocation or some kind of elementalist, but humans tend to surprise me even after all the centuries"

Livonia nods "i use summons for the same purpose, but sometimes good old fashioned brute force is required" she shifts and reloads the pistol into the device that springs it into her hand "My surveyors will meet you tomorrow at the crypt. I warn you, again, it is deadly dull work. It is a game of inches." She shrugs "they will have your payment with them. One week guaranteed, even if it doesn't take that long."

Marius leads them down the mountain "im sure you remember your way to the crypt. The surveyors will meet you there tomorrow" he nods to them both. "for now, i've things to attend to." He heads back into town through the gate, and Kasia lets go of the tension written across her face. She chews on her lip, thoughtful for a moment "well do you want to just fuck about the rest of the day, or deal with Simic?"

Kasia screws up her mouth and considers for a long time "I don't know. God the pay is so good. Better than anything I've dreamed of. HE... I don't know. I don't like how he got his hooks into me. I don't like that in his head he probably wasn't even doing anything wrong. THey're different than us, those fiuckers in the heights." she looks up at the mansions that adorned the upper reaches of the mountains lining the city. "I think we make ourselves as useful as we can to as many of his friends as we can, and evaluate from there"

The pair head into town, and Kasia stops at her place to grab two short swords, strapping them on. "let's go arrange a meeting for simic. We don't even have to be there right? just set it up. make the introductions."

Kasia sits with Clancy a bit, watching the warehouse "so what are we looking for?" she curls her to rest her chin on her knee "I mean we know what taverns are giving the kegs over to them, and we know stash is at least the guy who goes and gets the barrels right?"

Kasia nods "when we were in there before there were six. I think you can probably discount at least half of them. Most mooks aren't willing to die because they work for some shady wine dealer. I'm armed and so are you. That will discourage a lot of bad behavior i think" she looks over the warehouse "plus we're just there to tell stash we know, and get him to bring the principal in this operation up to simic's. i mean, maybe we gotta cut a bitch but... i'm hoping not"

Kasia loosens her blades in the scabbards and rests her hands on the hilts, trying to look as menacing as a 5'5 120 pound girl can look. In fairness, she relies on Clancy more for that. Stash appears after a few minutes, grunting "what do you want?" Kasia stares him down a long moment "you've been a bad boy, Stash. Why don't you help my friend here figure out who is behind all this wine business so we can have a friendly chat?"

Stash grunts "don't look that friendly"

Kasia shrugs "it's gonna be friendly, Stash. It's not gonna be here. It'll be a nice palaver." she looks over to Clancy, hoping he steps in to take over the conversation a bit.

Stash looks between the two "who says I have a boss?"

Kasia snorts "Stash you're stupid but you're not stupid enough to steal from the Simics. Someone else had that moronic idea right? ..... right?"

Stash nods slowly "yes. A comerade. a... man i was trying to help because... i felt... sorry for him?"

Kasia nods "yes. you're just a good man caught in a bad situation. Tomorrow night, you and your.... friend... will make your way up to the Simic's manse for a little chat. We will need a name though, so we can have him properly announced"

Kasia hmmms "well i mean if they did leave Marius would probably just hunt them down and slaughter them like animals but..." she shifts a bit "maybe we just take stash now. Then he can see how much his partner values him."

Kasia shrugs "Andrej is enough for poor Stash here. Marius would probably just be sent after the partner, assuming Stash lived long enough to tell them who it was" she grins at Clancy, and then the pair lead a sullen Stash through the town to ensconce him at the Simic estate, under the watchful eye of Andrej and the guards. Kasia snags some food from the butler, a little cold chicken and some grapes and heads out into the afternoon with it, sitting on a wall overlooking the city. Asking casually, maybe too casually "so what do you think of that Livonia"

Kasia hmmms "i mean, if you want like... an old person's perspective on things maybe she'd give it to you" she chews on her bread, watching Clancy bounce around "i mean, she's been around for like, centuries."

Jon nods and says "Ok so if we are done here, lets finish this trip unless there is more beasts to deal with...Then I can walk down to the widow's house on my way to town to find sailor's folly."

Jon nods his head happy with the plan for the next few days before his new sword is ready. Then he can take off to join a group in the catacombs or some other adventure. If the widow don't have any work for him to do he will enjoy getting a feel for who comes to the sailor's folly in the gap from now till he gets the new sword.

Kasia looks at Clancy for a long moment "nothing" then sullenly eats her food and stares out at the city, pulling the little basket closer and not sharing.

Jon passes a few pleasant days waiting, and at the end receives his blade. It is everything the dwarf promised. Light as a feather, sharp as a courtier's wit. It does make a statement too, when drawn. The craftsmanship is unparalleled. This is a sword that says its owner is a man of means.
