"I am going to step out into the moonlight now. I am not here to fight, but I tend to provoke a strong reaction when people see me," I chuckled. "Hell, I have had people I rescued from muggers pick up the gun and shoot me before. I'm not going to hurt you."
I stepped out into the moonlight, hands at my side and let her clearly see me for the first time.
What the holy hell. Karen almost did let the burst go at the sight of whatever the hell this thing was, but she didn't. This reject from Jason meets Freddie, meets some Lord of the Rings reject was just too much for her. It brought into her mind just exactly how insane her life was. This thing was a reminder of how she would never have a normal happy life. There would always be something like her and Clark's dad, or some screwed up meteor freak, or crazed freaking zillionaire, and now this sort of thing trying to mess with the Kent twins. The heat haze around her reddened eyes swelled to a roiling halo of plasma around her eyes.
Her fury built until she just couldn't hold it all in anymore. Her arms went out wide, her head snapped back and raw heat blazed upward in a column, up into the sky. It seemed like she held that stance and out pouring forever but it was only maybe a minute.
She let her head drop back and she staggered a step or two. "You say you want to help us? Do you really want to help us?"
"Honestly the best way you could help us is to let us go about our lives. I haven't slept in I don't know how long, my brother's not in great shape and that means I have to get up in an hour or two." said the weary girl. The discharge had taken a hell of a lot out of an already exhausted girl.
She gave the thing her back and started walking away as she finished her comment, "This is a working farm and no matter what else life throws at us we have to take care of it."
