Monte Claire's, On the Corner of Frankllin and 11th avenue was a little restaurant that was slowly becoming the talk of the town for its head chef's New American take on Classic French bistro fare. Carter could believe it standing at the host's counter with his girlfriend, Madison, beside him. Delicious aromas hung so heavy in the air he could practically taste it and get a full belly just by breathing deeply there at the doorway. Carter was starving, and he ought to be since this little trip to the bistro was going to cost him most of this week's paycheck-he was a bike messenger and didn't really make alot-for the prices this place charged he was going to get his money's worth.

Still it was worth it seeing Madison beaming at the prospect of a good meal he was paying for from a chef other than Boyardee.

Madison was beautiful as always. Carter had to remind himself that this gorgeous model was actually his girlfriend. How did he get so lucky? Eventhough the last two dates they had she had to cancel because of sudden modeling jobs. He had worried that she was trying to find an excuse not to see him anymore, but she actually seemed enthusiastic about dinner tonight, so...he just had to take her at her word that the times when she had to cancel their plans for a date was genuinely because of her job.

"Reservations sir," The Host asked.

"Two under Brendan," He told her he smiled over to Madison, "Like I told you before, it's on me tonight. No going dutch like last time, and don't snatch the check from me again this time. I got this."

"Ah, Brendan, yes," The host said taking two menus and turning to lead them to their table. "This way sir, May I recommend the Trout Provencal. Chef's choice this evening."

He led them to a table near the window next to the bar area of the restaurant. Up in the corner was a TV showing the local college basketball game, which was a bit of a distraction considering he had ten bucks riding on that game's outcome with a buddy at messenger company. But this was the first time in days that he was spending time with his girlfriend other than talking or texting over thier cellphones.

He purposefully wanted the chair facing away from the TV so he pulled out the chair facing it for Madison. When she sat he crossed over to his chair smiling at her he opened up the menu and his eyes widened looking down the list of french names. "Damn, someone should call the cops these prices are robbery."

He took her hand smiling, "Still I suppose you only live once right?"

Madison

She smiled standing there with him hoping that nothing would ruin this like so many times before. The scents from the kitchen were amazing and she could not wait to get to have a wonderful meal with Carter. Though she did hide a wince at her facing the tv but at least it was something as calm as a ballgame for now. She hoped it stayed that way.

Hearing his requests she smiled. Fine I will not grab the check or anything like that Okay. placing her order she nodded to the waitress with a smile and signed a couple autographs before asking the Waitress to please keep people away from them.

She knew she had to tell him the truth and she had to do it tonight since there was no telling what was going to happen with the latest info she got about Darkstorm.

Carter remembered the first time he had seen Madison. He had been dragged kicking and screaming by a mutual friend on a blind date. While his friend and the girl he had been dating hadn't lasted a week he and Madison were still making it work after a couple of months now. Even with the differences in celebrity, certainly the comparative sizes in their paychecks, and the fact that Madison tended to be a little more dedicated to her career than their relationship they were still together, and Carter was glad about that.

He could remember the big hat and sunglasses she had worn as they walked to the movie on that first date. Since the Sports Illustrated issue with her on the cover had just come out and she was still dealing with her instant celebrity. She had looked so cute trying to keep people from recognizing her.

She was the one. Carter knew it, the way he knew the sun would rise in the morning, down deep in his heart and soul. The only thing was he wasn't certain was if Madison felt the same in return about him. She seemed when they were together, but then at times it felt like she was keeping a certain amount of distance and he got the sense there was something she wasn't telling him. Whether it was something she couldn't or wouldn't tell him Carter couldn't tell.

"What do you think," He asked Madison, "I could get that Trout thing the host mentioned its not ridiculously expensive and its the Chef's selection tonight. That or the Provencal salad. I do recall a certain someone," He looked up from the menu and teasingly glared across the table at the certain someone in question, "Who suggested I should lose 5 or 10 pounds the other day."

He placed his hand over hers and smiled into her eyes glad that she had finally gotten over her sudden celebrity. She had even signed autographs from some of the other patrons without loosing her stride.

He glanced about the bistro. Most of the men were trying to be cool about it but were keeping Madison in their peripheral vision and the women were casting speculative glances towards him. Trying to figure out what made him so special to be a supermodel's boyfriend.

If he knew he'd tell them.

She smiled to him with a soft laugh. The chefs selection sounds good. She loved the feel of his hand on hers as she glanced around the bistro still a little on edge about the stardom and some of the looks she would get. She tried her best to ignore the tv but something kept tugging at her mind to glance up at it.

Resisting it for now she looked around for their waitress so they could place their order. She felt all the eyes on them and slightly resented that feeling right now as everything was peaceful and she wanted it to say that way for even a couple of hours... Her modeling did not exist her secret did not exist just the two of them... Wishful thinking.

Carter nodded, "I think I will."

Their Waitress came over then and asked if they were ready to make thier order.

Carter told her he'd take the Trout Provencal and he was about to ask Madison if she had decided on something when the sound from the TV as a newsflash preempted the basketball game.

He turned as a Reporter stood in the screen. "This is Marlon Perez reporting in front of the Cornerstone Diamond Exchange building where notorious supercriminal Proffessor Savage and several armed men has taken 12 employees hostage..."

He glanced back around to Madison, and the look on her face made Carter pause, "What's wrong?"

I... really need to go... call my agent... we were supposed to be getting a loan on some gems and diamonds for the shoot tomorrow. It wan't completely a lie but still. Standing she ran quickly back to the waiting area and then out the door silently cursing that this had to happen tonight of all nights and if the Doc was near so was Darkstorm.

Finally arriving on the scene as the other half of her being as it were she leaped into action and the "firefight" began.

"I... really need to go... call my agent..." Madison said suddenly.

Carter turned around in his seat to see her rising up from hers. "But we just got here."

"We were supposed to be getting a loan on some gems and diamonds for the shoot tomorrow."

Carter blinked, she was bailing again? Did he do something wrong?

"I'll...I'll..." He told her as she left, "...You make your call...I'll be right here when you're done."

The fight took a little longer than she had hoped but still not that long at all. Trying to get away she was for a moment cornered by a reporter who was rambling off questions faster than the guns she just put an end to. Saying nothing she tried her best to get away from the camera but not before the news camera got a shot of her face on even though she was masked it was still too close for comfort.

Rushing back once she was changed to the bistro and hoping he was still there she caught her breath and walked over to the table smiling till she saw him staring a hole through the image on the screen. It was now or never so she walked over in front of him where her face was beside the image on the screen. Luckily most everyone was gone from the area they were seated in.

I guess this is the best way to tell you... take a good look and tell me what you see.

Madison had been gone a long time, but Carter had remained in the restaurant. He had turned around so he could watch the news broadcast of the hostage situation at the diamond exchange. It was on fourth street and so it wasn't too far away at all-Just a block or two away really.

Carter had watched as the Reporter Marlon Perez had stopped his commentating as light flashed and a strong gust of wind slammed open the doors that the criminals had chained up, and hostages ran out as more light flashed inside the building.

Then the camera caught the swat team rush in. There was a long moment where nothing happened and then two members of Swat escorted a handcuffed man loaded to bear with strange looking devices. Marlon Perez rushed forward to try and get a statement from the notorious supervillian Proffessor Savage. He struggled against the two cops shouting behind them, "You'll pay for this, Darkstorm. I swear it."

They shoved him inside a police truck with the rest of his henchmen. Perez then slipped inside his cameraman desperately trying to keep up as he cornered a woman in a brightly colored tight costume.

"Darkstorm," Perez shouted, "A few questions please."

The superheroine turned her head and Perez's cameraman pushed in for a closeup of her masked face. She didn't say anything of course. She just turned and exited through a firedoor. Perez and the camera man had tried to follow her but they lost her at the end of the alley.

Following the hostage crisis the news focused upon the elusive superheroine, Darkstorm, and the new pictures of her captured that night which consisted of the Closeup of her face Perez's cameraman had taken.

Looking at it made something familiar about it. The mask obscurred alot of the facial features, but not all of them, and if Carter didn't know any better....no that was silly...it couldn't be her...could it?

"I guess this is the best way to tell you..." Then Madison returned stepping in front of him. He looked at her face carefully then to the face on the screen. "Take a good look and tell me what you see."

He looked from face to screen. He got up. "You?" He looked at her. "I can't believe this...are you saying...that you are actually...her?"

Motioning for him to hush she nodded slightly and looked to the server. Lets try this again we will take the Chefs special and NO one is to disturb us.

Taking his hand she pulled him towards her and kissed him softly whispering...

We can talk about this later at my place.

Her kiss was electrifying. It made Carter tingle from head to toe. So when Madison finished the kiss and suggested they begin their meal he sat down still a little overwhelmed and nod to her.

The meal was interesting and awkward. Carter wasn't sure what to say. He could understand why Madison didn't want to talk about the fact that she was a superhero in a room full of strangers who could overhear them, but unfortunately Carter couldn't think of anything else to talk about so despite some aborted attempts at small talk they finished the meal in silence.

After Carter had paid the check and they left the bistro he looked over to Madison as he hailed a cab for them. "We have to talk about this." A cab pulled up and Carter opened the door for her. "Your place or mine?"

Lets go to my place, She smiled reaching a hand to his cheek. She knew she had to tell him someday but she was worried that this was not going to go as well as she hoped. Her other hand remaining linked in his as she told the cab driver where to take them.

She tried to find a silent way to reassure him as she laid her head over on his shoulder and kissed his jawline a couple of times as the cab pulled away from the curb and began running them to her place.

Normally he would have been thrilled when she rested her head on his shoulder as the cab drove the couple of blocks to her apartment. However, Carter was too involved in what he had just learned about her to take much advantage of it for some back seat snuggling. He was still fazed, in shock.

He took her hand in his and wanted to say something, something to reassure her, but he was too aware of what the cab driver might overhear, and he didn't trust himself not to let something about what he had just learned slip. So Carter said nothing, but just sat there in the back seat of a dingy cab holding his girlfriend's hand.

Soon they arrived at Madison's apartment building and he held the door for her to enter.

Walking in she turned to face him as he closed the door. Brushing her hair back out of her face she smiled glad they were getting time alone.

I know its a lot to take in and I hope it explains all the broken dates and running off during dates and all of that. Its not like I wanted to do those things but... With what I can do and those few that know it I have little choice that and My desire to help everyone I can.

She stood there biting her lip waiting to see his reaction.

He nodded, "Yeah, it explains it...you'd rather be running around in a mask and a costume risking your life than spend time with me."

He looked away putting his hand on his forehead. "Jesus, that sounded harsh, didn't it? Sorry..." He turned his head to look back at her, "I get it. You wanted to help people. I guess, maybe if I was a superhero and had superpowers I'd want that too."

He crossed over to her couch and sat down suddenly very drained. "So how did you get them, your powers I mean, and please don't say you're an alien or was bitten by a radioactive gerbil or something?"

She recoiled slightly at his harsh words then sighed staring at the floor not wanting tears or anything to show. Then once he sat down he asked the question she had been wondering for a long time. How did she get them why did she get them... why her.

I... I really don't know and so far they have not been able to prove them to be genetic or trauma related or anything. They were really random when I was a child and then they seemed to vanish and then several years ago before I started modeling they "started back up"

She leaned back against a little bar between the dining area and the living room and sighed.

He crossed over to her couch and sat down suddenly very drained. "So how did you get them, your powers I mean, and please don't say you're an alien or was bitten by a radioactive gerbil or something?"

"I... I really don't know and so far they have not been able to prove them to be genetic or trauma related or anything," She replied, "They were really random when I was a child and then they seemed to vanish and then several years ago before I started modeling they 'started back up'."

"So you have no idea at all," Carter asked raising an eyebrow, "Sounds a little dangerous to me. I mean you have no idea if they'll go away again or if they'll go haywire sometime and hurt you, do you?" He looked away then as something else hit him, "Or for that matter someone you're around?"

He looked over to her again, and saw the expression on her face. "Look this is pretty huge. It's a lot to deal with." He reached out and took her hand in his. "But it doesn't change the fact that I like you, and I hope it doesn't change the fact that you like me."

No I don't but I do seem to be immune to them. Yes I like you I enjoy every minute I am with you and can forget this insanity and... She moved to the couch and sank onto the couch beside him and wanted so bad to hug him to hold him to make all of this either go away or magically be fixed.

She bit her lip and finally decided to merely reach a hand to his cheek and turn his face to hers pressing a loving kiss to his lips. It was all she could think to do to try to help him.

"No I don't but I do seem to be immune to them. Yes I like you I enjoy every minute I am with you and can forget this insanity and..." She sat down on the couch then, and bit her lip a moment.

"I wish-" He began but stuttered to a stop as her hand trailed along his jaw and turned his head towards her. She leaned in he leaned in and in the middle their lips touched in a soft kiss. It was electrifying, oh sparks and lightning didn't fly, but sure felt like it did to Carter.

When she pulled back Carter murmured, "Wow."

She smiled to him a little looking deep into his eyes.

If you have any more questions I can try to answer them. Or... For tonight we can forget all about this and focus on us.

Her hand still resting on his cheek as she brushed a little hair back from her eyes as she let this all sink in with him and see what he wanted to do.

IC: Carter Brendan

"If you have any more questions I can try to answer them. Or... For tonight we can forget all about this and focus on us."

He smiled as she brushed a stray lock of hair from her cheek. Boy, he was a dummy, wasn't he? Here was this beautiful woman he had been lucky enough to have as a girlfriend and here he was worrying about the fact that she had superpowers.

He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek she had just freed of the lock of hair. "Us, Madison," He moved to kiss her on the lips next. "Us definitely, let's talk about us." He then claimed her lips with his.

He didn't want to talk anymore atleast not with words. Tommorrow will be time enough for talking again. Tonight was just, this.

Feeling him kiss her again she curled in closer to the kiss her arms slipping around his neck and shoulders hugging him. Her fingertips swirling in his hair and she leaned back a little pulling him with her. She liked him wanting the to focus on themselves tonight and hoped beyond all else that nothing else would happen tonight to take her away from him.

Long slender toned legs stretch out draping over his lap as she kept him pull close to her as she leaned back on the overstuffed pillow arm of the couch and kept kissing him her tongue tracing his kips and seeking to dance with his.

Carter liked the way she responded. So when she leaned back onto the couch dragging him with her he followed kissing those soft red lips all the way. He must've been an idiot to ever question, this, question her.

His lips opened and his tongue joined with hers coiling over and around hers in tango older than music itself.

Carter's hand slid along her thigh higher up towards the hem of her skirt.

Her eyes closed as she felt his hand on her thigh. Long slender legs draped over his lap she kept holding him close kissing him... one of the best things in her life. She moved one hand to rest in on his chest as they continued to kiss. She almost feared that if they broke this kiss this perfect moment would be broken by her getting called away or something.

One hand on his chest and one caressing his cheek she whimpered faintly into the kiss. reluctantly breaking the kiss to look deep into his eyes smiling softly to him. Her hand still caressing his cheek.

His lips nuzzled her neck. "No rush, tonight, okay, Madison." He took her earlobe in his mouth worrying it between his teeth. his hand strayed upward beneath the hem of her skirt. He trailed kisses down her neck, "I want to take our time and savor every minute of this."

His hands slipped under the elastic of her panties his fingertips grazing the swell of buttock. as his mouth reached the neckline of her dress.
