So, Tuesday I'm having brain surgery...

WriterDom said:
I got a call from DR this morning. She's doing well. The tumor was a lot smaller than they thought. About the size of her little fingernail. They took a biopsy but didn't remove it. I told her I didn't think it was golf ball sized because her brain isn't much bigger than that. That made her laugh. Now she is just waiting on the report.

Thank you WD ~ And as shy said, it is wonderful you made ADR laugh. :)

Keeping her in my thoughts and prayers. :rose:

I didn't want to leave anyone off this list so I copied and pasted your names here. I know you don't mind. You're all the best people and I'm blest to know each of you.

I'm home and feeling pretty beatup and going right to bed now, but not before saying the absolute

biggest
Thank you

to you all.

You have no idea what this is like until you go through it and now I can say I understand. I will not know until next week what the biopsy says. I'll see the doctor and he'll take out my staples (I have 7 of them) and he'll give me treatment options. My face is really puffy and I'm to continue on Lortab, Dilantin and Decadron for this month, at least. If I'm seizure-free for the next month, they say I might be able to drive again and go back to work.

Thank God I was at work with nurse's who knew just what to do and not on the highway where I could have killed someone. I'm sure I've not thanked those ladies enough.

And I'm not home alone.

Again, thank you all for caring about me. You have no idea how much that means.

So very glad the surgery went well and that you are home. Hope the prognosis is excellent.

So if it's cancerous, what? They go BACK in? Cause having brain surgery isn't scary and stressful enough once, they're gonna do it to her AGAIN.

And if it's begnin(sp?) then they're going to leave it in there to cause seizures?

*grr* Doctors are idiots. I should just put it in my sig line, so I don't have to keep saying it.

 Well that's what I get ofr not reading the whole thread before posting. *hugs* Glad you're home.

Wow, you don't really get a feel for how many different people post in a thread until you see them listed like that.

It must've taken a while to do that too. And if you can do that you must be recovering nicely.

Yaaaay, you're home! I'm so glad.

They didn't make you eat hospital eggs, did they? When I was 16 and had my appendix out, one of the girls in my band class told me not to eat hospital eggs. I forgot that advice when I had my son and had to stay in for a couple of days. I don't think I'll ever forget it again.

And when they tell you that you can't eat until you get up and use the bathroom, tell them that you'll go do your business, so long as they don't bring you chicken broth afterwards.

Think about it for a minute.

It's cruel.

We would never hijack a thread, would we, Gracie?

Besides, I'm only looking out for her best interests. :) Hospitals are mean in what they choose to feed you.

Yeah my hijack was a rant on that.

Actually, you go out and click on posts (ctrl+A) and copy all the names (ctrl+C) then paste (ctrl+V) them to your document. It's pretty easy and I'm pretty simple minded. ;-) Ask anyone here. I'm sure there are countless people who would testify to that fact.

Hijack away... ladies, please. I don't mind.

One other thing bad about hospitals is infections. One of the reasons I was in such a big hurry to get out. I have so many antibiotic allergies that an infection would be really not good. They put me on Vancomycin (prophylactically) after surgery, but I think I still am developing an eye infection.

Oh, I know. I was at the university hospital the last time I was in the hospital and it was FILTHY. The floors were sticky. . . etc. Yick. In my case I get infections if you look at me funny. I'm on two, seperate, auto-immune suppressants. I was watching everything like a hawk to make sure none of the nurses cut any corners on me.

I was in Sunrise hospital in LV. The nurses were wonderful, I have to say. I never left recovery because they had no beds in neurologic-ICU, so I had one-on-one care the whole time. Then they moved me to a regular room.

And you're right to always watch like a hawk... you never know what might happen, what mistakes might be made. Nurses (and doctors) are human, too.

Exactly. You know I trained as a CNA, don't you? I know I've made mistakes, and since I'm nearly perfect :)p) that tells me others make mistakes.

Ahhh good news , Welcome back ADR :rose: ...... think I might have a rare drink to toast your expedient good health.........cheers !!!
