Socialism

Soooo....let's review. A country can offer:
  • government-paid healthcare
  • tuition-free university educations
  • generous social safety nets

and finance them with higher taxes and still be considered compassionate capitalist successes? and still not be "particularly socialist"?

Yes....it's called social liberalism or in some cases social democracy and I've supported all 3 of those things at state levels. Your lies and ascription not withstanding of course.

Who knew?

Anyone who's taken a poli-sci 1301 class or read up on the topic outside of Slate/RAW/Buzzfeed. ;)

Lol, did you forget about the capitalist economy part?

Remember, all the text books, encyclopedias and dictionaries are wrong and redefining the term for MY personal political biases. :D

Stop whining...it's unmanly.
Most people laugh at your continual specious redefinition of words to meet your own preconceived political biases.

Despite the fact that he can't even define the term himself much less cite a definition of the term that doesn't back me up.

I think the bigger question is why are those who support all of those progressive socialistic ideals so afraid to actually call them what they are; instead of trying to apply a different definition to what is already well defined.

Could they be trying to hoodwink the gullible?

Back in the day, when I went to college, I worked hard and payed my way. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Today, the snowflakes go to college, don't want to pay their bills, are force fed socialist bullshit, burn their schools down if they don't get their way and then want us to pay for their degree in basket weaving or they throw a hissy fit. They live with mommy and daddy till they're 40 and cry because life isn't fair. Being entitled they want the government to wipe their ass for them and then have the rich share their wealth because they have too much of it and because it's too hard to make their own wealth. Just my humble opinion.

I paid my way from 2009-2015 mostly via service.

Not if you ask Rob though, he seems to think veterans benefits are "free" and no different than welfare.

Be careful admitting you're a Vet, they'll accuse you of thumping your chest. But thank you for your service.

You coasted through college on the GI Bill, same as I did. And if you had a decent credit score you'd bang the VA for a home loan too.

You convinced the government that six years of "humpin' a ruck and forgettin' to duck" entitled you to a lifetime of government largesse (free money and free medical care).

...which gives you plenty of time to sit on your "disabled" ass and lecture others about being moar bootstrappy.

Not all of us veterans feel compelled to thump our chests and rattle our medals.

In fact, outside of NotVetteman, NotAJ and the situational Korean, I can't think of ANY who do.

Most know, I'm not ashamed of it. :D

And thank you for support personally and as a tax paying citizen....it was the adventure of a lifetime.

Poor Robby boy, If he served, he must of been railroaded on a section 8. :caning:

well that's total bollocks, of course. britland is a social democracy and taxpayers fund both. numpty.
So is Canada, and a number of other countries. But all rely heavily on oil, and pharma, inwhich America does the majority of the "dirty work" obtaining/policing. Also, our populations are a fraction of the US.

There’s nothing wrong with thumping my chest about my military service? If it bothers someone about that, it’s their problem, not mine. I chose to serve my country and I’m proud of it. Sure there were times I hated it, but in the long term it helped pay for college, shape my core values, provided valuable experience, and laid a foundation to start a career among other things.

But damn if y’all aren’t the best neighbor any country could ask for, despite the occasional quarrel over inconsequential things. 😎

No one would EVER accuse YOU of being "Ashamed" of your military service...to the contrary, it's always been your "secondary shield" from criticism (right behind your "primary shield" of situational Korean background).

The fact remains that no one is trying to do away with private property or have the government take over the means of production.

Right wingers just use the word socialism without understanding what it even means to scare their fellow mouth breathers into voting the party line.

It's a convenient if crude wedge issue that is rapidly losing appeal with the under-60 demographic, who have been fed the "Capitalism cures everything" pablum for 2 generations and have very little to show for their troubles.

Watching the two town halls on FOX, there were a lot of people in the crowd applauding what Bernie and Pete were saying.

And they were all ages although your point is valid for younger people.

Nah...just a POG. :D

Nothing stoping states from doing it.

Blue states just don't have the spine to put their wallets where their mouths are.

Your wild ascription, lies, hypocrisy and love of racial slurs =/= criticism.

It's just you being a dirt bag.

Also my being mixed race has never been situational, you're just a pathological liar.

Why must you be so dishonest Rob?

The fact remains that no one is trying to do away with private property or have the government take over the means of production.

Except every 2020 (D) running sans Biden, along with another 1/3 of the DNC in congress openly supporting nationalizing major sectors to the majority of the economy.

Zippy like Rob is Dishonest as ever. Sad.

At least Rob isn't such a coward he hides behind iggy.

This thread shows it's not the right wing who doesn't understand what socialism is. ;)

Nice lie though...whatever helps you sleep zippy. :D

I can tell. I've neutered your brain into posting nothing of any substance.

Okay, off topic, but that’s the funniest shit I’ve read today until you followed it up with, “you didn’t widen shit. You just cherry picked cancer.

Thanks for the laughs.

Sean blurts the mantra of cowards everywhere - "I don't wanna DIE!!!!!!"

really?
just sean?
and cowards?

your worldview is small.
ends at the mailbox.
and eschews almost everything provided to you beyond it.

but, yeah...

is the new new political bombshell...

semantics are efficient.

we should elect a word next.
you are motivated by the sound of them.

trained.

It's not new.

Semantics in this case are effective because so many outright misuse it.

Trained? Maybe so....but then again so are Jews and Gypsies when it comes to "white nationalist" and "Nazi".

There are a LOT of refugees from murderous socialist regimes in the USA you're going to have a mother fucker of a time trying to convince them, their kids or likely even their grand kids that nationalizing the economy and giving up everything they have...even if it is for the "greater good".

This discussion has missed the point, the United States already practices Socialism.....And everyone loves it when their Social Security checks come in or they get a refund on their income tax because they kids qualify them for an Earned Income Credit. Both are attempts at redistributing wealth. We just don’t like it when they take our wealth and give it to someone else.
