Sphere of the Planes: A D&Der's fantasy swap.

Wes:

"I reach out and catch Allyria's wrist." Wes said, turning to Sarinah. "I wo'nt be do'en that lassie. Let the wee rogue be at it b'fore we go touchin any o the shiny's" Wes then turned to Penny. "Thats your cue, Melika, unless I'm mistaken, you get double your max sneak attack damage against a sleeping or incapacitated opponent, and then another double for calling it as a coup de grace... Right, B.A.?" Wes asked of Clayton with a shit eating grin on his face.

Clayton:

Laser beams from his eyes, nukes from his finger tips, flames from his... Clayton was again steamed under the collar over Wes's rules knowledge, and so remained silent, only nodding in the affirmative to Wes's query.

Joe

IC: "This is a single adventure right? So I won't be using this character again regardless of weather or not it levels right?" I looked at Clay.

Penny smiled with glee as Wes reminded Clayton of her sneak damage. "I knew there was a reason I was sitting next to you, Wes. Sorry Clay, but I think it's dragon slaying time."

Melika nodded in agreement with Rando. She took one last look at the dragon's enormous form and choose her path for the attack. Turning to the group, she said "All of you should probably get ready to attack and finish this thing off if I don't kill it in one blow." Melika scanned the treasure for something to get through the tough scaly hide of the dragon. Spying a glittering rapier, she picked it up and quietly walked toward the slumbering beast. She clambered up it's front leg and along it's back until she was standing over the dragon's neck. Carefully, Melika pealed back one of the dragon's scales, exposing the softer flesh beneath. Guessing this was as near as the spinal cord as she could get, Melika took one last look at her companions to make sure they were ready. Suddenly, she plunged the rapier into the dragon's flesh up to the hilt. She twisted it side to side, hoping to cut the nerves leading to the dragon's brain. She then removed the weapon and plunged it in again to make sure the job was done.

Penny looked expectantly at Clayton. "So is it dead?"

Joe

IC: "I prepare to leap to safety." I may be a coward but ready will be a living coward.

Clayton:

Clay was busy rolling 1Dhandfull-of-dice, and absently nodded to Joe reguarding his question of weather or not Rydia would be played again. Slowly lifting his gaze, Clayton's lips curled up into an almost cruel smirk. "Penny, Melika did 110 hp damage to the sleeping dragon... However, that was not enough to kill it! It lifts its mighty head in a thunderous roar, thr*"

Wes:

"Uh, hold it, B.A., arn't you forgetting to roll on the critical damage table? I believe you will find that every full fifty hp damage inflicted warrents a roll on the minor handicap table, and with a full one hundred damage, you have to roll one major disablement as well!"

Clayton:

Clay gritted his teeth, he knew Wes was right, but had been hoping no one would call him on it. The dragon only HAD 20 more hp as it was, and to have it turn out to have two minor handicaps AND a major disablement... "Yes, thanks for REMINDING me WES." Clay said, acid in his voice as he dutifully grabed the appropriate dice and rolled.

Wes:

"HaHAH! Blind, mute, AND LIMP FROM THE NECK DOWN!" Wes proclaimed, apparently having memorized the crit tables in his free time.

Clayton:

Checking the tables, Clay found that Wes was right. "Okay, so the dragon doesn't roar, but he still thrashes his head about! Penny, make a dex check to see if the dragon sends Melika flying, DC 25! Joe, Rydia can make a DC 20 reflex check, since you called her action. Everyone else, make DC 25 fort checks to see if you are knocked prone by the dragons flailing head!"

Wes:

Wes smirked, his eyes dancing with unrepentant mischief as he grabbed for his dice. "Looks like you were right Penny, looks like B.A. is on the warpath now. Beating us with dragon heads and all."

Penny rolled, looking a bit nervous. Getting a 17, she added her plus 5 dexterity bonus and still came up short of the DC 25. "Looks like Melika is going to learn how to fly the hard way." Penny said, a bit crestfallen. "But, on the plus side, we should get full experience for killing the dragon now that it is fully awake, right Clay?" Penny asked playfully. It was just a game after all. Looking to Wes she whispered, "I think he's gunning for us now. Good luck on your roll." Penny lightly patted Wes' shoulder, taking advantage of any opportunity to touch him. Looking past Wes she smiled towards Joe, "You were smarter than all of us to see that Melika wouldn't be able to kill the dragon. However, there is a tiny part of me that hopes you get a bit roughed up for being a cowardly monk. Aren't monks supposed to know no fear? Or are you from the order of the scantily clad yet overly cautious?" Penny shot Joe a teasing look. She then looked over at Sarinah. "I hope Allyria stays standing. I think she has the best shot at killing this thing since the monk is ready to run and I don't think gnomes have all that much fortitude."

Clayton:

"She does indeed go flying, Pen, at 45 degree's, she lands thirty feet away, and takes.... Heh, six damage from the landing. And no, you don't get full xp now, the damn things still crippled, at best, you're looking at half." Clay said turning to the others, waiting for their rolls.

Joe

IC: 'You were smarter than all of us to see that Melika wouldn't be able to kill the dragon. However, there is a tiny part of me that hopes you get a bit roughed up for being a cowardly monk. Aren't monks supposed to know no fear? Or are you from the order of the scantily clad yet overly cautious?'

"Thats why I went female, the less Rydia wears the harder she is to hit." I rolled 18 with a plus 4 dex mod. "Rydia dodges skillfully and gathers ki for her counter kick."

Wes:

"I got a seven, I fall down, go boom." Wes said, lightly. "Go, girl power, go!" He added, rooting for Allyria to make her save, and Rydia to get a hit with her kick.

Rydia

IC: "Cleaving heel!" Rydia brought down her foot in a mighty axe kick. (Rolled 17 assumed hit.) The dragons nose gushed blood liked the dragon had just looked up a womans dress. (I rolled 6 on a d6)

Clayton

"The dragon snorts blood on the whole lot of you as it tries to clear is nasal passage after Rydia's kick, snapping its jaws at her desperately clinging to life. Allyria, need your save and action here." Clayton urged.

Sarinah: rolling the dice she crosses her fingers....after her roll managed the 25 required to dodge the attack from the dragon. Thinking she wondered what to do next...

Allyria: Rolling to the side and dodging the massive beasts head, she flipped to her feet with a blood thirsty grin. Drawing her new ebony blade from its sheath she weaved it infront of her, about to give it the best first test ever. She swore she could feel it humming in her hand as she approached. Watching Rydia's awesome kick and the dragons blood exploding from its nose she let out a war cry and raced at the dragon, flipped into the air and as she swung past its dazed head from Rydia's poweful kick she rammed her sword deep into its eye. She couldn't risk the sword not making it through its armor so she went for its softest spot.

Clayton:

Checking Sarinah's attack and damage dice rolls, Clayton gave her a proud smile. "Congradulations Allyria, you just killed the dragon, would you like all the gory details?" He asked, making sure the girl he wanted to date wasn't grossed out by his sometimes overly grusome discriptions of battle.

Joe

IC I turned to Sarinah. "Say no, he keeps a pigs head in the freezer as a visual aid and its a mess to clean up." I turned to Penny "Penny remind me how long did the two of you take to clean it up?" I hoped she'd give credit to my lie.

Penny decided a little more teasing wouldn't hurt Clay's chances with Sarinah. "It took about 2 hours to clean everything. He went a bit crazy with the stabbing and the blood spurts. I had to throw my clothes away because I couldn't get the stains out and they smelled heavily of pork. To this day I can't stand ham on pizza." She looked to Wes to see if he would continue the ruse.

Melika awoke, groggy from her fall. The first thing she noticed was that she was covered in something sticky. Blinking her eyes, she saw that she was sitting in a pool of blood and that the dragon was no longer moving. "Ewww..." She said as she moved her arms and legs, surveying the damage to her nice thieving leathers. Standing up, she tried to wipe herself off, but realizing it was futile, Melika gave up and crossed to where the others were. She picked Rando up from his puddle of gooey blood and then shook his shoulders to wake him. Maybe he had a cleaning spell.

Rydia and Joe

IC: Rydia: I droped to one knee and examined the blood. "How much do you think we could charge a vampire for this? "

Joe: The question was never answered and my curosity of the subject was always growing.

Wes:

"Mmm, pork..." Was all Wes said in response to Penny's ruse, giving her a sly wink as he took another big bite of his meat lovers pizza. Returning to character, he acted as though he were being roused from unconciousness. "Honestly Melika, someone sneezes on you and you want to keep it?!" He muttered, head addled.

Clayton:

"Wha? Oh now, don't be absurd, you guys know I can't even disect a frog without getting a nose bleed. And not the naughty anime kind of nose bleeds, Joe! Pigs head, my behind! Don't believe a word of it, Sarinah, they just want to gross you out."

Sarinah: Looking at Wes and Penny she slowly registered her jaw had dropped and her face had gone white as her eyes flicked between the two of them...were they kidding? they were kidding right? Oh god please let them be kidding!

Realisng they were having her on she burst into peals of laughter...which had been set off by the look of equal horror and pleading from Clayton for them to shut the hell up. He was mortified if she was any judge. Leaning close to him she said, "Oh No! Do not tell me the gory details! I just couldn't stand it!..." pretending to faint she then laughed some more. "No seriously Clayton, come on give us the details...I love horror movies so this should be no worse!"

Allyria: Looking at Rydia, her eyes still danced with adrenalin as she wiped dragon ichor from her sword. "I don't know but we could always find out!" Scouting around she hunted up a fairsized glass bottle. "Here get some into this...you never know when dragon's blood will come in handy anyway"

Joe

IC: I blinked this was a novel aproach I hadn't considered before. Actully carrying around the blood for the first vampire, or at the very least stirge we come by.

"All right I need some one with a blade to slit this thing open." I placed the bottle at the base of the neck.

Clayton:

"Okay guys, while Allyria and Rydia are busy being gross, and Rando and Melika swap catch phrases, the blood of the dragon oozes under its treasure horde, coating everything with the thick ruby fluid. Allyria, you notice while rummaging about for a bottle to collect the dragon blood in that the pool of blood seems to be blocked from touching the glowing white orb you saw earlier. It sits amid the pool, a bare circle of ground around it, where there should be blood."

Rydia

IC: I pause and look at the blood. Seeing the odd circle of the blood around the crystal I pause. "Well if it didn't look like a trap before it looks like a trap now. Every one stay away from that till Melika gets a chance to carefully look it over."

Allyria: "Melika! Come look at this orb! I think we should take it but Rydia over there,"nodding her head in Rydia's general direction, "wants you to check it out first. But seriously whats the worst that could happen?"

Sarinah: Sarinah was silently pleased with the way her character was turning out, Allyria was cocky and reckless and had just asked the one question that guaranteed something was going to go balls up.

Clayton:

Clayton hid his smirk behind the last can of Monster, which he snuck while no one was lookin, his own rogue skills at work. He toed the sphere prop that he had hidden under his chair, it was still there, but so was an odd damp circle of dark liquid, which he hadn't noticed. He'd bought the 'prop' from the new wicca shop in store, which wasn't likely to last long in town, considering all the damn churches pressuring to make them leave.

Clayton wasn't really into wicca, and for that matter, wasn't really interested in any 'faith' in particular, though he liked to know what they thought... Almost always finding the common thread all these ways of belief held was the tennet to not hurt your fellows, and treat them like you wanted to be treated.

"Allyria's calling you over, Penny, what do you want to do?" Clayton asked, counting off in his head for the next big event.

Joe

IC: "I'd put that in your frige, unless you want anal bleeding again." I glanced over to Clay. I had heard him open the can by some miracle. He really did need to take better care of himself, and that much caffeine was not good for any one.

Clayton:

Clay was in the middle of a gulp of monster when Joe caught him. He coughed and sputtered, shooting some of the fizzy liquid in a spray across Sarinah's front.

A moment later, he tried to appologize, but was still coughing, trying to clear his throat.
