No harm meant, but I'd inform miss 14 y/o daughter that she can get her butt back on that phone or PC or however she talks to him and let him know there's been a major change of plans. How major you ask? MAJOR!!! As In H E L L N O!!!!

Ok so call me an old fuddy duddy, but I don't think kids under the age of 16 should date. Chaperoned school dance or other activity... a strong maybe. But DATE??? Nope. No way. No how.

~begins to wonder about my own daughter who will be at that age soon, and a son even sooner~

You sound like a good Dad DD. Mine are older (15 girl, 24 boy) and I can assure you that taking that approach will almost guarantee they'll grow to hate you and shut you out. Then again, 'bout the time they turn 22, 23, 24, they'll have this "revelation" (what we call maturity) where they look at you with new eyes and see someone who really does love them and is willing to sacrifice for them to protect them.

So just stay the course. Realize that they might really hate you during those last years of high school and maybe right on through college or their first career. In the end though, especially when/if they have kids of their own, they'll start to see you for who you really are: the loving Dad who did his best to protect them and prepare them.

And I can tell ya after having my son go through that, you'll get a dear friend for life as a result. They really do grow up into adults and come to see the light after a while. That's when it "sticks" forever and you know you've made your mark.

Same here. My daughter started dating about six months ago. Luckily, her first boyfriend was a guy from across the street that I already knew ...and more importantly, trusted and admired. I REALLY lucked out on that one.

Now I'm just waiting for that day when she comes to me and wants birth control. I know she'll NEVER go to her Mom w/ that concern.

God help us all who are parents of teenagers...especially teenage girls. (Did we really put our own parents through this crap? Hmmm...come to think of it, I put 'em through a lot worse.)

My parents went through enuff with the things they found out about me, which was only about an eighth of what I actually did. So far, my two have been fairly reasonable. One good thing is they know they can talke to me about everything, and that I'm fair. Like my daughter. She's taken an interest in a youngman, who happens to be black (or african american if you want me to be PC) This area looks down strongly on the aspect of inter-racial relationships. She was worried I would get mad, but was stunned when I told her, "As long as he treats you right, it's fine with me." I don't see color or race, I see people.

Very, very cool indeed!! I teach at a black college and once had someone ask me "Do you see black kids when you look out across the classroom?" I'd never thought about it until then and was stunned by my own answer. I said "no." I see their eyes and expressions and whether I'm connecting with them or not. I see "my students" and I love them. That was a real eye-opener for me 'cause I hadn't realized I was doing that until then. It was unconscious.

I can also appreciate your one eighth remark. Recently, my son confessed to me all that he did as a teenager that I didn't know about. I coulda killed him if I'd known then. But this was after he came back from Saudi and 9-11, after an ugly divorce, etc. He was a man now and we just ended up swapping stories about how stupid we were as kids. It was a real bonding experience! It brought us a lot closer 'cause it showed me he was now a mature adult who saw the stupidity in it. It was pretty cool.

I can somewhat relate to the teaching situation. Was put on a similar stand by one of my Sgt's when I was in service. He asked me if I knew I was sending one of my men on a suicide mission, would I pick one race over the other. I calmly looked him in the eye and said, "Yes I would. I'd choose to send a white man. Cos it would be me on that mission, not one of my men." From that day forward, that Sgt. was right by my side no matter how sticky it got. And we're still best of friends to this day.

Let's see how much I remember...

Age Play - i.e. Male/Female couple. One playing a Mother/Father figure other playing a child figure.

Littles - all participants kinda act like kids in kindergarten/preschool. (not real sure if that's correct.)

vanilla - A person who is in the lifestyle (or claims to be) but is not really into it very strongly. Another deffinition is a person that is NOT in the lifestlye at all.

lifestyle meaning an Alternative Lifestyle other than what society deems as the classic normal family. i.e. Bondage & Discipline, Sadism & Machoism.

Ok. So I'm at this gas station today fueling up the truck with the water supply tank for the sprayer, and this guy that's selling little cheap odds & ends walks up to me and asks if I have any grandchildren. I mean I know I look older than I really am, and I know at my age it's biologically possible, but damn. ~CRYS~

Cool. That woulda been my guess, but only a guess. It's much better to have a handle on it.

Age play sounds like fun. I might even go to that workshop. "Littles" sounds a little weird, but OK--I can imagine that. Guess I'm just a "vanilla" kinda guy 'cause I always think of sex (no matter what kind) as fun and playful or soft and romantic. Pain, even pretend pain, just doesn't seem "fun" to me. I can appreciate the whole power-trip, control aspect of it being fun as a roleplay, but it's still a little beyond who I really am 'cause I fight against power structures and authority figures every day...so it'd be an uncomfortable stretch for me I think. I just don't see "power" as something to play with. That's something I take far too seriously for that. Of course, that's just me. No disrespect meant to those who feel different. I can even sympathize to some degree. I could see where it might be an outlet. Anyways...I digress.

Thanks for info DD!! It's a big help.

LOL --- I don't think it's you DD. Sounds to me like your town is just "growing up" and starting to attract the same wackos that infect every other big city like LA, NY, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, Miami, etc. Welcome to the big leagues! Wackos on every corner...put there by God or circumstance just to remind you how valuable your "normal" life really is.
