Star City- The Heroes of Tomorrow OOC

O.O

Yay, thank you! I still think she sounds rather generic yet, but she'll have a few more posts, I can try and fine-tune the characterization.

That was amazing Chas. *cracks fingers* I need to up my game.

Thank you, dear.

It's tough writing a version of the character that's never actually had any dialogue or screentime yet. Give me one, two episodes, I can work from that, I wrote a damn good "Smallville" Bart Allen once after he'd shown up twice.

But the lovely Miss Benoist won't be gracing our screens for awhile now.

"Give me data, I cannot make bricks without clay." -Sherlock Holmes.

Still, it's nice to know she came off all right.

Name: Ted Kord

Alias: al'Sin'Awa (The Alchemist)

Base of Operations: Formerly Starling, most recently Santa Prisca

Alignment: (Good/Bad/Antihero) Good, though forced into working for Nyssa's branch of the League.

Affiliations: Former student of Ra's al'Ghul

Family/Friends: None.

Bio: Growing up, Ted was extraordinarily bright. He was good at science, business, and everything else he tried. In college, he received degrees in Physics, English Lit, and Theoretical Mathematics, Anthropology, Archaeology, Criminology, Psychology, and multiple degrees in History. To entertain himself he had actually gotten a private investigation license in the state of Maine, where he attended Ivy University in Ivy Town, Maine. All this was accomplished by the time he was 24. He considered joining his father's business, Kord Omniversal Research and Development, Inc, of Chicago, but overall, he had no real direction.

Ted was working to get his own tech company off the ground when he got a frantic call. His former mentor in college was in Khandaq. Something was wrong. He was raving about a darkness rising. Ted got on a flight to Khandaq and met with his mentor. Dan Garrett was one of the most brilliant men Ted had ever met. And on this occasion he would again change what Ted believed about the world. Dan revealed that for the last 15 years he had been acting as a vigilante. He had been using an artifact that he had discovered, which gave him great speed and strength and durability. Ted believed his mentor was having a nervous breakdown until he saw it first hand. The blue scarab belt buckle that Ted had seen him wear ever since he had met him began to glow. Suddenly, Dan was wearing this outfit. And he showed Ted his power.

Dan claimed that there was a situation brewing. Someone was purchasing artifacts from various tombs found throughout the Khandaq region and sneaking them out illegally. And Dan believed that some of these items may have power like his. Dan and Ted worked together to track down a shipment of these items. Among them was a gem that Dan claimed held great power. Rumor had it that it could bring the dead back to life.

It turned out that the man smuggling these items was Ted's father. He had become a broken man after the death of his wife a few years earlier. He and Ted had been estranged for many years as he felt Ted was a waste. He had no dedication and just flipped from degree to degree with no plans for the future and refused to take a role in Kord Omniversal. While dealing with these issues Ted's father was convinced by the Kobra Cult to assist them in gathering these artifacts, and in return, they would use the gem to bring his wife back.

In truth, the gem was a black diamond which housed the evil demigod like being Eclipso. Kobra sought to gain control of Eclipso and use him to further their terrorist agenda. In the ensuing melee Ted's father and Dan Garrett would both be killed. With his dying breath, Dan made Ted promise to protect the Scarab, and to carry on doing good for those who could not help themselves. Ted agreed and was able to escape with the Scarab and the Gem.

In he wake of his father's death, Ted became the owner of his father's company. He shifted the company from black book military work to humanitarian efforts. He renamed the company simply KordTech. In addition, Ted spent much of the next several years training to become the hero Dan had asked him to be. He trained all over the world, using the money he inherited from his father to fund his quest. He trained with many different trainers, including Ted Grant, Ra's al'Ghul, and others. Eventually Ted was ready. He had trained hard, created many gadgets with a scarab theme and moved his operation to Coast City where he would first become a vigilante, but was able to pass himself off as an urban legend. He moved city to city frequently to keep his work hidden. Ted worked in this capacity as The Blue Beetle for a little over 6 years. Starting shortly after Oliver was shipwrecked on Lian Yu.

He had arrived in Starling City only a few nights before the Star Labs Collider was supposed to go online. He had come to seek out the vigilante known as The Arrow. However he never got the chance. When the Collider went live, two things happened in the penthouse Ted Kord was staying in. First, the Gem, which he had brought seeking a safe place to hide it, perhaps with the Arrow, exploded. The demon Eclipso was freed and attacked Ted Kord with vicious abandon. However, the second thing happened. The Scarab awoke. Sensing that the Scarab may be more powerful, the weakened Eclipso fled. But not before it sabotaged the building, causing an explosion in the penthouse when the gas kitchen appliances apparently leaked into the atmosphere, where a spark was ignited, taking down most of the penthouse.

It took several days for officials to search the rubble. In the end, they found a single body. It was so badly burnt it was impossible to identify. The body had been at ground zero of the explosion and the teeth had been shattered by the explosion. Officials declared Ted deceased.

Powers: Ted was never able to gain use of the beetle. Instead he relied on his skills in science, technologies, and other fields. He used these skills much as his old friend Bruce Wayne had.

Weaknesses/Disabilities/Vulnerabilities: Ted, while highly trained, is a normal man.

I still think the new series is going to be set in a "Flashpoint" tangent timeline, but I would love to see otherwise. I'd be more certain of its placement in prime continuity if they would say that Robbie Amell was in it, then we'd know for sure that Ronnie and Stein were a unit.

This should be interesting. The first one wasn't terrible. Wasn't that good, but wasn't as bad as I feared. This means I will most likely have to go see the sequel in theaters. Gotta support my boy.
Is Casey Jones cher boy too, or do you just mean *YOURSELF* in Arrow?? Hehe ;)

I had a question which I forgot to ask from before. Thea IS Ra's al'Ghul?? I'm not caught up on the show. But. From what LITTLE I know of the comics -- and I know this is.....semi 'alt'/future/may-be from the show's reality -- but.....is this. Could THAT be? Because in the comics --

...hehe, sorry. But...right??? ;)

So without REVEALING, but at the same time I guess you have to *REVEAL*......??

...total shocker for me! :)

I kinda liked this first Turtles reboot/remake movie by the way. I guess I wasn't expecting much. And was pleasantly surprised how much I TRULY enjoyed it. It was different from the cartoons, the original movie, the source material(as I hear tell)....but....I guess what I liked most about it was how 'individualistic' they made each of the four main characters, from one another! That was very cool in my eyes.

...of course, I've only seen it the once in the theaters. So we'll see what happens(if any) when that second viewing comes around. But thumbs up from me at least! ;)

In the Flarrowverse they have established that Ra's al'Ghul is a title. The current im show Ras is a man. But he is dying and seeks an heir. He tries to get Ollie and that is where the show is currently.

You talking of the 2014 movie? Yeah totally loved it. It wasn't the greatest movie ever made, but for a Turtle fan like myself it was awesome. Of course there have been some debate about Megan Fox' April O'Neil, but frankly I don't care. This isn't the 80's anymore, a newscaster running around in a yellow jumpsuit AND have red hair? Nope. OK so I'd have preferred a red head, but Fox did the part well (OK I am a little biased when it comes to Fox and scifi).

I guess what I am trying to say is that I will watch the Turtle movie at least six more times and still enjoy it (especially freeze-framing Megan's tasty posterior in jeans...yum) and then still: I WANNA BEA TWUTWLE!!!!

Lachy: when your schedule permits and you're able to come around to Bart again, I've put Rose up on the roof if you want to visit her.

If not, she'll just be thinky for awhile.

....I feel absolutely awful for not posting. Time keeps getting away from me. And I keep not finishing the post I was working on(not intentionally of course)...*shruuuuuggggggggggg*

..but, that would be -- I think -- kinda *magical* if he came across her! I'm adoring her more and more's!(your post with the gifs isn't hurting the cause for sure)......even if my heart is breaking, ten times over for her....pain and all...:(((

Thank you for thinking of me for the purposes of in game material, Miss "ChasNicollette"! :)))

IRL's a bitch and this thread moves quick.

But this.

Thank you for reading and caring about Rose. I often worry I'm just making noise in an empty room with her, but your readership heartens me.
