Star Trek: The New Adventures

Funny he knew about that when he wasn't even aboard yet when they had their first encounter.;):D

Heehee. Continuity, FTW! XD

But I guess if Khan could memorise and understand 23rd-Century technical manuals during his original "Space Seed" appearance, we can let dear dear Pavel read a couple of backstory mission logs. (I mean, I guess. Right?)

He heh, yeah I guess we can. It made for good story.

Good point. Biology never was one of my strong points. Didn't even scrape a C grade in it. But one thing about animal biology I do know, is that it's virtually impossable to tell a miniature giant space hamster apart from the regular household pet hamster :D

I'm good at the principles, but I'm lousy at the math. Same with physics!

Just. Can't. Do. NUMBERS.

I met a mutant giant earthworm once and his hulked-out talking puppy friend. We had haggis.

Yeah it sure was. He actually explained his theory about that at a convention once.

He said he was on board just not on the bridge yet. He also was suffering from a bad case of food posioning. He was in one of the general purpose latrines, and when he came out there was Kahn about to enter. He tried to warn him, but the Genetically Engineered human rushed passed him. A few seconds later he comes out grabs Chekov by his shirt and pulls him in really close. "I will remember you.... I never forget a face." he told him.

Walter Koenig, ladies and gentlemen. :: toasts the man with Stoli's ::

This RP is becoming very enjoyable. <3

And I screamed 'KHAAAAAN!" in memory of his passing. We will remember him. We never forget a face. =3

I know. I was that little white cat in the tux just across the street. Watching. And planning... :cattail:

Earth Worm Jim. You win. xD

You may now impregnate me. n_n

Khan's fondness for Moby Dick was always cool, especially how he slightly altered the passage to suit his current situation.

I guess it was a good thing he wasn't quoting something more 20th or 21st Century.

Like Dave Chappelle....

"I'm Khan, bitch!"

I like the part in "First Contact" where Data jumps off of a gantry and gets shot repeatedly and he's like, "huh." Like it's interesting that he's bulletproof. Just... interesting.

God, I love Data.

I know I totally dredged this quoted post from like the first day or whatever, but I was re-reading over our posts and this one made me think.

As much as I am sorry to hurt feelings, I have never liked Data.

I just think the whole concept and character was ridiculously over-done. Some of the responses to other characters and situations were down-right stupid, IMO.

Not to mention the inconsistencies with the character:

Like the bulletproof scene where Alfrie Woodard riddles him with holes from an automatic rifle that Chas mentioned. But, but, in one episode of TNG, Deanna shoots an arrow from an old wooden bow and it sticks in Data's chest. You mean high-powered, supersonic rounds from an automatic rifle bounce off of it, but a wooden arrow penetrates? WTF? The slow blade penetrates the shield, Gurney?

Or in Insurrection, where Data was designed to serve as a floatation device in the event of a water landing. But in an episode of TNG, Data remarks that he is too heavy to float and thusly walks into a body of water which summarily covers his head as he sinks.

Ok, I'll stop Data bashing, now. (What kind of name is Data anyway? Man, Gene-o sure thought long and hard about that one didn't he....a robot named Data. Gee. Kinda like on Blue's Clues, where we call a mailbox 'Mailbox'.).

Shit. I'm sorry. I said I'd stop, didn't I. Okay, okay. No more Data bashing.

Let us not forget the inconsistencies with the emotion chip as well. In the show it was this little roung thing, then in Generations its this kinda bulky square.

Also they say it was fused to his neural net, and then again in Insurrection he's able to remove it at will. If he can remove it what was the whole purpose of giving it to him in the first place.

LOL, but his over-ridiculousness was one of his charms.

He was like an overgrown child - he made you cringe with embarrassment at his antics, yet you were able to grin after the fact. It was fun to watch him - and whatever his inconsistancies, Brent Spiner did a fine job with him.

Sorry, I know we already went here but here it is. I saw it and had to bring it here.

You're entitled to your opinion, Amen, oh, you so are.

I mean, this thread was your idea, who am I to quibble?

I'm not going to argue.

All I'm going to say is? Mailbox was my favourite character from "Blue's Clues," and that's including the little blue cat.

All I'm going to say.

It's okay. Even though several more androids were sent through a time vortex to assassinate you for such blasphemy, thus creating some sort of Orwellian Data-love, you'll know when they're coming.

They lose all ability to speak and start shaking when they're near ajherktertgrtuiyjhbvksjhgkjdhgkriuedsfglolfsdgh

x3

Secondly: If we're going to pick consistency errors out, he's actually got a lot less than many of the other characters in the series. <3 Though the first could be explained in that an automatic rifle typically fires rounds that burst in order to cause more damage once they meet with surface resistance in order to cause internal damage; In Data's case, the materials he's made of could be dense enough to repel penetration and thus render the rounds useless. The arrow, however, has a smaller point and is sharpened, made only to penetrate. Sort of like how a .45 caliber round will bounce off of a metal helmet but a modest little 9mm round will pierce?

As for the name, the name 'Data' came from his purpose. Data was to store all of the facts and figures of the colony, while Lore was to store all of their personal history; Their words and feelings, the day-to-day lives and humanities of the colonists. Dr. Soong says so himself at one point.

And then there's also the likelihood that they were just sight gags and you should leave it alone, you cranky old Scrooge. =P

I got more entertainment out of him than I did anyone else on the cast. <3333

I really thought about it.

Or, when he really starts getting his human side/emotions back, using that as a gag at parties to people who are unfamiliar with him.

Has Jace noticed just how much of his CO is still Borg?

He only got a short glimpse. He noticed that you still have implants, and you have very little inflection or emotion in your speech. further information will be gained once he has a sit-down with Nine.
(if you haven't noticed, Jace is a Starfleet version of a profiler, & he has a photographic & editic memory. Served hom very well when he was in Intellegence.

Well, Admiral, as you can see, the Arizona is performing vey well and the senior staff has most departments runing quite efficie...- OH MY GOD! BORG! RED ALERT!

Just kidding Admiral. He's our Tactical Officer.

(Jace sounds like a fun character to work with. I can see a lot of interesting interrogations coming...)
