Star Trek: The New Frontiers (IC)

S’H’ara Ægeri – Alien Scout

S’H’ara floated, her ship drifting in the cosmic radiation of the yellow sun. Her sensor platform finished analyzing the last of the nine planets.

Moments later it reoriented for the next system. Translation to slipspace took less than a blink of an eye. The impact was half a moment later. The sensor platform didn’t even have time to register the object before the impact occurred.

Volumes of profanity filtered across the cosmos as she spewed epitaphs in dozens of languages. Powering down the systems she waited. The sensor platform began a running readout of the outside.. atmosphere?

That shouldn’t be possible. It was known for collisions to occur. Usually as a result of some gravimetric flux ripping a rock or other space debris loose and pulling it into slipspace. But it was exceedingly rare for two constructed vessels to collide. Unless they didn’t have emitters….

What kind of fools translated into slipspace without emitters? Making sure the armbands were secure she opened the hatch of her ship and stepped out. And then nearly fell as the angle of the ship and the angle of the floor didn’t nearly match up.

Snarling S’H’ara straightened up and moved forward. A shimmering wall of sparking energy tried to solidify but couldn’t quite complete the circuit. She paused for a moment, until she stroked her arm band and walked through it.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Bridge

A’Lex was flung from her seat and slid across the floor, ripping the arm off the chair by her momentum and strength. Looking at Tactical and Science she announced. “Collision. Deck 11, 12, and 13. Engineering report!!!”

“All hands, Red Alert. Emergency forcefields in 3…2…1.. Now.”

Around the ship forcefields activated. Sealing off sections. As the hull tried to repair itself and failed.

***

The Chief Engineering Officer was holding his head after bashing it against the console during the collision. "Emergency force fields around the immediate area aren't engaging, to much damage. We have blown conduits all over those decks, main power is fluctuating. Attempting...." The chief engineer never finished his sentence. A power surge cause his panel to explode and sending shrapnel into his skull.

Looking over at the dead Chief Engineer A’Lex slapped her commbadge. "Lieutenant Szera, Assume Command of Engineering. I require a status report now."

tpolfc.jpg

Lt. Szera.

Szera was flung from her nest when the impact occurred. the alarms began blazing as Szera threw on another uniform shift and her comm badge. She was already moving towards engineering as she heard "Lieutenant Szera, Assume Command of Engineering. I require a status report now."

"On route to main engineering asss we ssspeak ssir," her hiss was more pronounced in her stress, "Status report Asss ssoon ass possible." Instead of hitting the turbo lifts she went to all fours increasing her speed. She hit the Jeffery's tubes. "Computer, reduce gravity in Jeffery's tubes direct route from deck 4 through deck 11 main engineering to three quarterss gee."

"Gravity reduction complete." the computer answered. Feeling herself grow even lighter than normal she accelerated to an even faster speed. In record time she erupted out of the Jeffery's tube.

She bellowed "SStatus report!"

An ensign who she recognized from her night crew who looked the worse for wear announced "We have no hull integrity at the point of collisions Ma'am. Emergency fields aren't responding to the damage. Secondary and tertiary hull breaches have emergency fields up and life support is holding except in the breached zone."

She nodded, "Acknowledged," she turned to the man and woman at the ZPE, "Engine status?"

"Mains are online. We have Gravitic drive as well as warp. Attempting to determine status of Slipstream."

She turned to a woman that was badly hurt, leaning at the weapons console. She didn't have to ask. "Ma'am, shields available, weapon systems are offline."

Szera keyed her commbadge "Report from engineering. No weapons. Warp available, Gravitic drive available, shields available for the moment. I intend to take them out as a bypass for the emergency fields at the point of primary breach. I will notify you as soon as I have more. I also have multiple casualties here. stations are manned but we need medical assistance now. I have not assessed if there are fatalities. Engineering out."

Szera hit the weapons and shield console and began working on the shields. "Computer, split screen. Side one, emergency field systems. Side two Primary deflector shield systems." She began looking at the similarities, this could work but there were things that needed to be done to make them compatible.

"Lt. MacKenzie, Ensign Jonas, I need you to suit up in EVA suits. I want to to realign primary shield arrays in the areas of the breach into the emergency field generators. As soon as you have done that report," she turned to the injured woman at shields, "When they have accomplished that I will route you power from the ZPES. You will bring the shields in the effected area up with the boosted power. Now move my crew, move!"

She turned her attention to the routing systems making sure they would support the power she would be routing to the shield systems. Why had she been called in on this? Where were the orders from the Cheng?

"Computer, begin auto repair systems in main engineering, I cannot work with what I have now."

"Acknowledged." was the response from the computer.

Captain Miguel Torres- Bridge

Miguel was smiling and looking at some sensor data when the collision happened. Since he wasn't expecting it, there was no time to brace himself. He was thrown from his chair and and bounced off the CONN officer's chair and landing flat on his back. As he slowly got himself he felt the coppery taste of blood in his mouth, he busted his lip when he hit the chair. He heard his XO barking out orders, telling someone to assume command of engineering, but why. He looked over towards the bridge engineering console and saw it had been damaged, and then saw the body of his Chief Engineer. He slowly started making his way back to his chair. "Where's the damage?" he asked.

"Decks Sections 14 alpha on decks 11, 12, and 13." Was what some had said but he had no idea who it was. He looked at the view screen and saw that the ship was still in slipstream. He was about to give the order to have then drop out of slipstream, when the ship was rocked again. No they weren't rocked this time, that was a lurch. As if the ship all of a sudden had a huge burst of speed.

"Captain.. the warp engines have engaged by themselves. Probably due to some damage in the command processers. Hull stresses are incressing exponetially."

That wasn't the only stress Miguel could actually feel pressure against his body as he say. It was as if the IDF field wasn't compensating quickly enough for the increase in accelleration. "Thoras see if you can get that warp drive shut off, or get us back to normal space or we're all dead!"

"Commander what the hell hit us?" he asked as the ship continued to accellerate beyond their control. Lord only knew where they were at this point. But if they didn't shut down soon they'd either be blown apart by the stresses of the ship using warp in slipstream, or they'd be so far out of their galaxy that they'd never find the way home.

CMO LT Commander Alex Hagen, Bridge

The world wasn’t right anymore. The winds were changing and the motions grew sharp and violent, the twisting of the neither seemed to reach for the poor souls onboard of the tiny primitive vessel as if being guided to the gates of hell itself. The twists and turns of the void rocked the small ship back and forth and suddenly grew smaller and smaller, flowing through the entirety of the hull, then the entirety of the decks, then slowly down to the entirety of the person. Suddenly…

Alex shook his head as the daze of his impact passed over him. His eyes opened, his mind instinctively began a desperate search for one single jewel… She was safe, alive. But there were many who weren’t. And still many that could be rendered that way in a moment’s notice

Alex jumped to his feet and ran over to the wall, removing the emergency medical kit and tapped his comm. badge “Hagen to Sickbay, Drill terminated, Red alert. Prepare for emergency triage.”

The staff was confused for a moment before the comm. Badge beeped in acknowledgement. Alex moved quickly to the body of the engineer, moving him over to his back and scanning him briefly with his mind. The mind was gone, the tendrils of consciousness had faded far too long to be recovered. To be sure, he scanned the body with the tricorder, but his initial instincts had been correct. They were dead.

Alex quickly moved to the other side of the bridge, a young human ensign had caught some of the shrapnel from the explosion of her own console. He turned her over and quickly scanned the wounds with his tricorder “computer, emergency medical transport, sickbay, energize. Doctor to sickbay, Ensign Connors is being transported in with severe lacerations to the jugular, begin treatment immediately.” He barked as the beam overtook the patient and he withdrew from the transport and began to scan the other bridge members.

He looked up to see the turbo lift doors open and two nurses jump out with equipment in hand. They looked over at him and immediately stepped over to the other members of the crew, reading them over with the same efficiency as he was. He moved over to the captain and quickly took a scan even as the captain was barking orders.

Alex shook his head at his findings and looked up at one of the nurses “Nurse, Alcidometaphen hypo, 3 cc’s.Subdermal Calciafier.” He barked, holding out his hands as the nurse across the bridge tossed him the filled hypo and the strange little instrument. He quickly pressed the hypo into the captain’s neck as the captain looked up at the sudden intrusion with cold fury.

“You are suffering from a concussion, captain. Please remain still for a moment.” Alex said his hand pressing against the captain. The captain immediately refused and began to raise his body from the floor, but the alien strength of the doctor kept the captain immobilized.

“This is not the time doctor! The ship…”

“Captain, if you don’t mind…” Alex said as he held out the instrument and began moving it mere inches above the captain’s head, running his treatment for approximately three seconds before moving away from the captain. “Done, sir.” He said with a curt node as he lifted himself up from the floor and moved onto the next patient.

The captain made his way to his chair and Alex was already surveying the rest of the crew. The two nurses would treat the rest

“Computer, Site to site transport to sickbay, energize.” He barked quickly as the transporter beam overtook him.

Main Sickbay

Alex had just beamed into hell. Patients were flowing into the room being brought in by doctors and well-meaning crewmembers. The existing patients were all on bed and being treated as quickly as the chaos would allow. As

Alex moved to join the chaos, he stepped over to a young doctor who was fumbling with his instruments.

Alex moved over and saw the patient was the doctor’s wife and quickly stepped beside the officer, taking scans with his tricorder and doing the job that the man couldn’t.

“Doctor, this patient is fine, her injuries are not life threatening, move on to the next on. “ Alex ordered beginning to turn away to the next.

“But sir, she’s hurt and…”

Alex turned and shot the man a cold hard look “Ensign Jacobi, This is a medical emergency, a triage situation. We treat the patients according to severity of condition. This woman is not your wife at this moment, she is a patient, I need your help over here.” He ordered as he moved to the next patient.

When Jacobi didn’t move Alex was back at his side. “Now is not the time for emotionalism, Doctor. Either you do your job or I will see that your career is ended right now. Now MOVE!” He ordered as he moved back to the patient who was gushing bright blood all over the sickbay floor. Jacobi looked at his wife for one more second before joining the doctor at the patient’s side.

Alex nodded at him and began emergency treatment of the patient below him. It was going to be a long day, he realized in one small instant of thought before he dove back into his duties.

Lt. Szera, engineering, Lt. MacKenzie, sight of collision.

Engineering was beginning to assume a more orderly feel to it as more of the night shift engineers made their way down from wherever they had been spending free time. It was maddening, knowing she had injured but not being able to get them immediately to assistance. But now she could, she had relief personnel working their way through the damaged ship or doing on sight damage control.

Meanwhile, two EVA suited engineers worked their way to the point of impact. The ensign was checking the automated damage control systems, and she was getting confused. "Lt.? Sir, the systems are online but saying their obscured and unable to comply. I thought they were supposed to work no matter what. Why aren't they working?"

Lt. MacKenzie was looking into the hole in the side of the ship, momentarily dumb founded before pointing at the ship that was in the center of the main hull breach and saying "That's why Ensign."

He keyed his comm badge "Computer, patch me through to engineering and the bridge," he waited the click it took the computer to comply, "Captain, Lt. Szera, this is Lt. Mackenzie on collision sight. We've been hit by another ship. Requesting a security team and Lt. Szera for assessment of the situation. EVA suits will be necessary. We've got visitors if anyone aboard the other ship survived sirs."

Szera was too busy at the moment to respond however as she was in the process of trying to figure out why the ship had just gone into warp.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Bridge

"Commander what the hell hit us?"

“That information is not available for a proper response, Captain. But, sensors picked up an object with an unidentified composition moments before impact. Structural design undetermined due to speed. Rate of speed … approximately warp 20 point 56.”

“Lt. Mackenzie please provide data on vessel. Height, length, width. Are any hatches visible? Has any occupant made an egress?”

“Security teams Alpha and Omega, begin a search pattern for any potential intruder. Assume intruders may be armed and possible injured.”

Moving back to her seat A’Lex raised an eyebrow at the twisted shape of the chair and moved to the Operational Officers position. Waving them to stay she stood to the side and watched as the results of scans rippled across the screen.

“Captain, Warp drive engines are engaged. Velocity has exceeded structural limitations.”

“Lt. Szera, Shut down Slipstream and Warp drive engines. Manually if you have to. Structural integrity is at twenty-seven percent and falling.” She said for both the engineers and the Captains benefit.

S’H’ara Ægeri – Alien Scout

Pausing in the corridor S’H’ara looked at what appeared to be a hatchway, or a panel recessed into the wall. Cocking her head to the side she ran her fingers along it for a moment. Then pushed, both with fingers and her mind.

The metal resisted for a moment, the slammed into the recess within the wall with a harsh bang, warping as it was forced into place, permanently damaging hydraulics and pressure seals.

Walking into the room she noticed several boxes laying around, but disregarded them, more intent on her own vessel and any potential damage it had received, then the cargo of another race. Most likely it was something the race believed important or valuable but more than likely was junk.

S’H’ara Ægeri – Alien Scout & Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Bridge

Purgatori02.jpg

Cocking her head to the side S’H’ara listened, then shifted her eyes to the hallway. Apparently the locals were coming to investigate.

Facing the doorway, she stroked the armband and faded form view.

The security team was moving down the corridor, they had all suited up in EVA suits since they didn't know what sections would be without life support thanks to the rupture in the ship's hull. They were set up in teams of 5 in order to cover the entire deck in less time. and all were armed with phaser rifles.

Looking at her ship once more S’H’ara concluded that getting it out at this moment wasn't possible, so she moved closer to a wall amongst the crates. They could be an overly hostile species. Since very few peaceful beings ever left their own star system.

When they arrived the team saw the unusual shaped craft. From what they could see, it was pointed at one end and seemed to round as it moved aft. It also looked like it was made of no material they had ever seen before. As they looked around, one of the guards noticed the door that looked like it had been pried open, but by what - he had no idea. “Sir!” he said as he called out to his team leader, when the senior man came to him and saw what it was he was being seen.

“This is security team 6 to bridge, we’re on deck 12 section 15 just outside of cargo bay 5. We have an intruder, they seem to have made their way into the cargo bay. We’re going in.”

“Team 6, this is Marine unit 2, we’re on deck 11 section 14, we just arrived at the upper level door to the cargo bay, we’ll be here waiting for anyone that tries to come out this way.”

“Affirmative Marine 2, we’re moving in.” And then the security team leader flashed the light of his phaser rifle high into the room, while another member of his team was focusing his light low.

Stepping to the side S’H’ara watched the light play across her body. Behind her the wall exploded as a damaged Power Conduit finally failed, sending shrapnel made from parts of the wall and other pieces outwards.

Flung forward from the explosion S’H’ara slammed into her own ship, the chameleon unit failing as a dark red ichor oozed from around a long metal piece that protruded from her lower left back. Reaching back to touch the impaling piece of metal she looked over at the aliens, and collapsed.

Security team 6 moved in slowly and looked around. They saw as the explosion occurred and then as the alien was thrown forward and eventually fell to the deck unconscious. The team leader moved slowly towards the fallen being, one of the advantages of using the phaser rifles was that they could shine their lights ahead and still have their weapons pointed in the same direction. As he got closer he saw something slightly spread out from her body. At first he thought it might have been a cloak of some kind, but as he got closer he could see it wasn’t a cloak, she had wings, almost bat like. When he was finally standing over her he looked her over. She was like nothing he had ever seen, horns on her head, the wings on back. She was like something out of mythology. However she was hurt.

He kneeled down beside her. “Bridge we have found the intruder…. she’s take some damage from an exploding conduit. Lock onto my signal and beam me to sickbay.” He said. Then he looked up to the other members of his team. “Make sure there aren’t anymore of them hiding out some where.”

tpolfc.jpg

Without hesitation Commander T’Ker ordered, "Video feed now." Even as her fingers were slipping over to the Transporter override controls. She'd transport the subject, at her discretion, and that discretion depended on the safety of the medical team.

The image from the internal scanner was grainy at best thanks to the damage in the area. "Switch to the video feed from their eva suits." he told her, but figured she was already in the process of doing just that.

Tapping into Lieutenant McKallisters suit A’Lex looked at what he was looking at. "Step back from the intruder. I need a better view." Linking in the computer she began establishing a data file and 3d image of the creature.

Miguel squinted as he could tell that the security officer was stepping back, but how the lighting was altered. "Well I can honestly say she's of no race I've ever seen or heard of for that matter." Miguel said as he looked at the image. "We better send her to sickbay, those injuries might be fatal and if so we'll lose an excellent opportunity for discovery."

"Transport in 3.. 2.. 1.." Commander T'Ker said, sending both the alien and the Squad leader to Sick bay. "Doctor Hagen, the alien patient in Sickbay is your primary responsibility. Period."

Tag: LT Commander Alex Hagen, CMO

"Commander send a security team to guard sickbay. We don't know what... she is capable of. I don't want the good doctor caught off guard." Miguel ordered.

"Special Ops unit to Sickbay. You'll understand the situation once you arrive." Looking up she directed the Security officer to tap into the Hud's of the squad, and display them at Auxiliary Security Station two.

"Now will someone please get my ship back into normal space before we get lost in the middle of nowhere." Miguel said in frustration. How many thousands of light years had the ship traveled. The search for the intruder had taken his mind off of it for a little bit, but he could not feel his chair shaking as the ship's hull was being pushed to its limits and beyond.

CMO Alex Hagen Main Sickbay

"Transport in 3.. 2.. 1.." Commander T'Ker said, sending both the alien and the Squad leader to Sick bay. "Doctor Hagen, the alien patient in Sickbay is your primary responsibility. Period."

“Oh shove it, Commander…” Alex muttered to himself and he pressed a hypo spray into a yeoman’s neck to slow his blood and quickly moved his practiced fingers over the man’s scull, removing long shards of blasted panel and plasma. He heard the transport activating and beginning its cycle in the sickbay.

“Computer, Reroute incoming transport to the isolation room and bring up level 10 force fields around the isolation room.” Alex barked as he pressed another hypo into the man’s neck under him and checked his scans again. The man would live as Alex changed directions to head towards the Isolation room.
There were a lot of wounded here, a lot of people dying.
Alex shook his head, swearing to himself.

“Computer, activate emergency medical holographic teams.”

A mark XV doctor appeared in front of him and looked him strait in the eyes. ‘Please state the nature of the…” He looked around and cringed. “Oh my.”

“Triage situation, unknown amount of casualties, Assistant chief medical officer is unaccounted for. Begin Triage immediately.”

For the Holograph’s credit, he was in motion before Alex had even finished his orders. The doctor’s pips indicated him a senior member of the medical crew and soon the doctor was barking orders out at the nurses and orderlies and everyone else, treating the wounded and dying with a level of precision that rivaled even Alex’s.

Alex stepped up to another patient that was blocking his way. He quickly flipped open his tricorder and scanned the man over again, determining a shattered vertebrae and broken hip, but nothing that was life threatening.

“32 units of Trixo and Carbolitionite, send him in for Sub dermal regeneration and Calcification for his hip, get Dr. Tanners over here to fix his vertebrae
when he can.” Alex ordered the nurse who stepped up to assist him.

The nurse nodded as Alex stepped over to the isolation ward. That moment the sickbay door opened to emit five members of security, armed to the teeth and moving steadily towards him.

The doctor nodded and met them at the isolation chamber “Two of you outside the entrance, two by the main entrance, the other, scrub up you’re coming in with me.” Alex said as the squad leader nodded “Travis, Balaok, Door, Anral, Marlish, you cover the chamber. I’m going in with the doctor. Rifles on repeating fire, full automatic and maximum stun.”

Alex tuned out the rest of the security team’s orders as they quickly rest their weapons and headed to their positions. He moved and scanned the room for a second

“Marshal! Foley! Get your asses over here and scrub up for Isolation Treatment. Davis and Jackie, You cover them.”

The doctors switched positions crudely and headed for the ‘scrubbers’ as a nurse stepped over to Alex and quickly put on a surgical gown over the man’s body.

Alex stepped over to the same scrubber bay and put his hands under the almost invisible spray, allowing them to be completely covered by an antibiotic nano coating that acted as an extreme protection from infectious disease. The sickbay recycling system and scanners took care of all known viruses and infections, but this person was alien and injured. There was a reason that she was in isolation.

He looked over at the Security leader who had already had on his own surgical gown and had his hands covered in the same nano coating, along with holding his rifle close to his chest.

Alex nodded as he stepped forward with the two doctors following and the security member stepping in front of them, stepping through the field first and taking sharp aim at the alien’s head. Alex moved to the side and examined the alien’s body visually for a moment.

“We have multiple lacerations of what looks like the lower back as well as impalement. Doctor’s Marshal?”

Marshal nodded “taking scans, looks like a carbon based life form, similar to humans but exceptionally strong. The organ configuring is a bit different. That pole is less than a centimeter away from its spinal column. Removing it may result in severe damage.”

Alex nodded “Foley?”

Doctor Foley removed the hypo from the alien’s firm, red skin and nodded “I’ve taken blood samples and tissue samples.” He said as he moved out of the field and into the sterile testing laboratory. ‘Approximate time for analysis and replication of blood types approximately three minutes.”

Alex frowned. They may not have three minutes. Immediately Alex reached forward and turned to a nurse who had joined them. The nurse handed him a tricorder and he activated it, confirming exactly what his team had just told him and doing his own scan. He closed his eyes for a second and suddenly he could feel her, in the chaos of the room.

Her own gem was not growing as brightly as the rest in the room. No that was to be expected since she was wounded. But her gem was oddly configured, an obvious alien, but unlike anything he had ever encountered before. But her consciousness was there, just under the surface.

“She’s going into shock, Foley, we need blood gas measurements now!” he barked as he looked over at Marshal.

Marshal just shook his head “She has two hearts, similar to klingon physiology. But it looks like the second is part of her respiratory system.”

Alex nodded as he moved his own scans up to her back, looking as the nurse quickly removed the patient’s clothes and equipment, setting them into clear bags and handing them to a second nurse who was taking it into the lab outside for analyzation.

“Got it, Oxi level 3.629 parts above standard.”

“Jesus..> that…” Marshal muttered before he looked up at Alex.

Alex was looking down and quickly opened his hand “Trixo, 330 cc’s” he barked as the doctor prepared the hypo and slapped it into the doctor’s hand.

“Alex, I’m seeing damage to the respiratory heart, which may be what is sending her into shock.” Marshal said as he continued his scans. Alex pressed the hypo into the alien’s neck and emptied the contents into the alien’s slender body.

Alex shook his head and smiled at the man “Yeah, or it could be the freaking four foot bar of metal shooting out of her back and the massive amounts of blood that’s bleeding out right now, get in the game man.” He said as he continued his scans. He watched as the newly recalibrated info came in and saw the oxi level rising within the patient.

‘Okay, I want deep core scans of her respiratory system, determine exactly what gas mixture we need in this Petri dish.”

The security guard for his credit only looked at Alex once in a question mark before turning his attention back to the patient and keeping himself well armed.

Surprisingly only a few seconds had passed since Alex and the team stepped into the isolab but the seconds felt like hours as they moved doing five things at once.

“Damage to the respiratory system looks bad sir.” Marshal reported. “Recommend complete bypass and dialysis blood filtration.”

Alex nodded as he watched the pull up with the equipment. He himself looked down at the bar and scanned the area. It was just enough... “Computer, transport metallic object out of the patient at these coordinates. Energize.”

The beam quickly caught the bar and it suddenly disappeared, leaving a gaping gash and piercing valley in the woman’s side. Suddenly the blood gushed from the woman’s side as the offending object was removed, but Alex was ready for it. He moved in with his sub dermal regenerator and began to repair the arteries that had been punctured by the rod. It took a few seconds, but he repaired the critical damage and the filtration system was hooked up.

With a nod Alex looked back down at his wound, grabbing a laser scalpel and beginning to cut away the already dead tissue from the wound before beginning regeneration of the skin back into place. He looked up as the wings lay slack against the woman’s back and nodded as the blood began to pour through the filtration device, removing the fluid from the damaged heart and filling it to the brim with oxygen that her body craved. Alex watched as the blood reports came into the console from Dr. Foley, the Hematologist, and continue with his treatment of the woman’s side and back while Dr. Marshal began to work on the woman’s respiratory system.

“Doctor, I’m having a problem joining the nerve endings.”

Alex nodded and moved up the woman’s head, seeing the beautifully carved face laying almost peacefully on the corner of the bed before looking back down at the scans. He quickly moved the scanners and the regenerators and fought with the nerve endings, finding the trouble that Marshal had had with the endings.

He found a new sequence and tried it, shaking his head for a moment before the nerve endings began. He smiled as he began to correct the damage to her respiratory system. The second that it finished, he quickly placed her blood back from the filtration to her own system and moved back towards doctor marshal.

Alex nodded at the doctor’s work and began scanning again to make sure they hadn’t missed something when a movement caught his eyes. His mind became alive with another presence and he watched as one of the wings slowly fluttered at it’ base…

Ensign Jonas jumped as she heard the hatch slam open. "Lt., that can't be good, this whole section's life support is down. It sounds like we're losing more of the ship."

The ensign startled again as she heard in the distance the sound of phaser fire and the resulting explosion. "Lt.?" she said.

Lt. MacKenzie keyed his comm, "Commander, it sounds like security has a guest. As to the size of this thing at a guess I would give it 21 meters length, 10 meters width, and about 15 meters at highest point. About the same size as one of our fliers."

The Lt. keyed the commbadge, "Lt. Szera, recommendations on regaining atmospheric integrity?"

Down in Engineering Lt. Szera was hard at work. "Slipstream and warp need to be redirected to my console," as the diagnostics came up on her panel she began tweaking systems. "Commander, coming down to Gravdrive now."

She keyed the commands and then had to give a rerouted command for the warp drive to shut down. "We have dropped out of warp. coming out of slipstream in 3, 2, 1...." She keyed the command and nothing happened.

"Bridge, Engineering. Slipstream is not answering console. Going for manual shut down." Szera left her console and entered the Jeffries' tube and found the panel she was looking for. "Now let us try this one more time. Slepstream down in 3, 2, 1......" she grunted even with her greater than normal strength. The Manual kill switch wasn't meant to be easy to pull. The Chimera dropped back into normal space.

"Normal space has been attained sir." the engineer said with a heavy sigh.

Captain Torres- Bridge

Miguel continued to struggle to stay in his chair as his ship rattled around him. But once he saw the red swirling waves of energy disipate and the stars of the sea of black ahead of him he breated a sigh of relief. "CONN full stop." he ordered. "Ops give me a position fix." he said finally allowing himself to stand for the first time in several minutes. He felt a slight wave of dizziness, but it passed quickly. "Alright let's see how badly we've been hurt." he said as he stepped behind Tactical two and looked at the Master Situation Display on the wall. He saw stress fractures all over, and a nice big hull breach on the ventral side of the ship. "Torres to engineering, I need a full damage assessment and estimated repair time."

S’H’ara Ægeri – Alien Scout – Surgical Bay

S’H’ara felt the pain first, and the cold second. Reaching out she felt someone nearby, then another and another. She was surrounded by aliens. She could feel the air brushing her wings and they shivered in response to the cold air.

Pushing herself off the platform she slammed into the ground as nerves and muscles failed to respond the way she had intended them too.

Lieutenant McKallister turned, aiming his weapon at the intruders back, he’d perforate her with more metal than had just been pulled from her if she moved the wrong way.

Breathing slowly in the alien atmosphere S’H’ara hoped it wasn’t volatile for her species. Dying through mischance would be so.. demeaning.

At least she still had the bracers on. Apparently the aliens weren’t able to open them. Probably saved their lives. Moving slowly she tried various muscles, first and foremost her fingers.

Well, they still worked. That was a good thing. Toes were next, and miracles of miracles. They worked as well. She could feel the air brushing across her wings, so at least she wasn’t paralyzed. Just a destabilized neuron impulse. Shock.

It would take a little bit before she could stand, and laying on the floor was a tad.. humiliating.

Could someone please assist me in standing? She mentally asked the room of people.

Lt. Szera Engineering. Lt. MacKenzie Point of collision.

Szera tapped her commbadge. "Lt. Szera to Captain. Computer also patch Lt. MacKenzie into this."

"Sir, we're a mess," Szera said as she slid out of the Jeffery's tube. "Slipstream is down, shields were taken out trying to repair a hull that has a ship wedged into it."

She checked the status of the ship on the damage control board. "We have full Gravimetric drive, warp is dicey at the moment, weapons have been returned." She went down the list further, "Zero Point is only at 80%. I repeat sir, 80% on the Zero point system. We can't push it too hard until I have it back to 100%. It is top priority, followed by shields and hull integrity."

She looked over her crew and stated "I will need medical teams down here as well. I have an unknown quantity of crewmen in fit duty status. That will slow the repairs down. What I have will work until the ship is back to fit status. Lt. MacKenzie? Propositions for moving the ship so we can begin hull repairs? You are on sight and you are next in command under me, I trust your input."

MacKenzie blanched in his EVA suit. The dragon lady trusted him? "Umm, Give me a minute," he said as he turned a critical eye to the task at hand. "If we could gain access we might be able to move it under it's own power if it is intact. Otherwise I would recommend using one of the main cargo transporters if any of them are online if we can gain a lock on the ship."

MacKenzie looked at it all again and continued "If we can't get a lock, we might be able to set up a target lock field on it and mass transport it into the hangar bay. The only other solution I could give you is to push it out by manual force and use tractor beams to tow it while we repair our ship."

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO & Captain Torres Bridge and Sickbay

Watching McKallisters video feed A'Lex barked out. "Alien is awake and mobile, Captain."

"Let's go find out who crashed into us." Miguel told his first officer and motioned for her to join him. “Lt. Thoras, you have the CONN.” He said as he moved towards the turbolift.

“I don’t fraking believe this.”

Miguel turned around, he knew the voice it had come from his Operations officer. “Excuse me Lieutenant?”

“Oh I’m sorry sir, it’s just my sensor readings don’t make any sense to me.” Explained the operations officer.

“How so Lieutenant?” Miguel asked.

“I don’t recognize any of the stars. And nothing matches anything on file.”

Miguel didn’t like the sound of that. “Check and see if it isn’t a computer error Lieutenant. With all the damage we’ve suffered that’s a possibility. Let’s go number one.” He said and entered the turbolift and held it open for his XO.

"I'm watching it on video feed, live.." Commander T'Ker replied. Transferring the feed to a PADD she followed the Captain onto the turbolift, and continued watching the feed.

Once the door closed Miguel ordered the computer to take them to the main sickbay on deck 9. "So what are the odds that it is a computer malfunction and we're not just lost somewhere in space?" he asked her.

"Is this a hypothetical question, or would you like me to calculate the actual odds?" A'Lex replied.

Did she just make a joke, he wondered. "It probably is hypothetical. None of the damage was around either computer core, and didn't effect sensors. But the funny thing is I think I'd actually like to hear the odds that what my gut is telling me is wrong and that we're not lost. And you know as well as I do, that with the computer not recognizing any of the stars, means we're definitely not in our galaxy, nor are we in any galaxy that we've scanned with long range telescopes."

"Astrometrics Control, Perform a manual reset of your system. When you can identify ANY celestial body. Inform myself or the Captain." A'Lex said. Turning to the Captain she raised an eyebrow, “The calculations are beyond my capability to perform without further information.”

“Probably just as great as the odds that another ship would get lost like this on its maiden voyage.” He said. “I talked to Admiral Janeway once about how it felt to have her first mission as Captain turn out so different from what she had expected. I never knew I’d end up having a similar experience.” He added his voice showing a bit of his frustration.

Indicating the Captain should go first A'Lex waited as the Turbolift stopped and the doors opened. "Surgical Bay One is in the rear, on the right side, third door." She informed the Captain, just in case he wasn't up to date with the latest information.

Miguel just nodded as he exited the lift and made his way to the door that was Sickbay. At the entrance were two members of the CEAR unit. Miguel figured the other entrance was probably equally guarded, per his XO’s orders. Once inside he looked around for his Chief Medical Officer. He wanted to talk to him before he saw their… guest. “What’s the status of your patient Doctor?”

S’H’ara Ægeri & Doctor Alex Hagen (a JP)

Alex winced as the volume in his head exploded with the silent words of the alien. It was only seconds before that he noticed the movement of the guard with the weapon and heard the fall of the body on the floor. Not enough time for him to react. But as he turned around he struggled to understand the strange alien tones in his head. Only his daughter and his father spoke with him in the telepathic sense, this was far different. This was a strange alien - and attractive - alien, but an alien nonetheless speaking to him.

He immediately moved with his tricorder and took some readings of the Alien before hooking his arm underneath hers and looking at her, telepathically speaking back to her Ready to lift? We're going back on the table.

*The name is Doctor Hagen actually... Or Alex if you prefer..* Alex said, pulling her body up with her help and gently settling her on the table *You have suffered quite a shock to the system, miss. You were impaled by some bulkhead and had damage to your respiratory and circulatory system* Alex said, looking over and speaking "Get me a gown now," at Foley who moved after a second of staring at the woman. Alex looked back *What is your name?*

*I am called S’H’ara. How was I impaled?* she asked, grabbing the table as she shifted her weight. Her grip on the table was strong enough to mold the section she was holding into a print of her fingers.

Alex watched her movements as he held out his hand, accepting the offering of a gown for the woman to cover herself with. He held the soft material out to her and explained *There was an explosion in the corridor, you were right next to a panel when the conduits behind it erupted. I don't know the specifics, I'm not an engineer* He said looking over at the security officer with his rifle aimed directly at the woman's head. *Hope you don't mind our little security guard here, but we do have to take precautions*

S’H’ara Ægeri & Doctor Alex Hagen (a JP)

*The .. armed one.. is useless as well as that fabric. Attempting to garb myself in it would damage my wings.* She replied, looking at the doctor. *Your vessel is made of several species? Or are they variations on one species?* she asked.

Alex shrugged and took the fabric back and looked down at her * Several species, in fact. The only reason I offered you the garb was because some species consider nudity as taboo. I'm not one of them but* Alex mentally shrugged, enjoying the telepathic conversation more than he would care to admit he did. Telepathy wasn't a skill he was able to practice too often. *What of you and your species? Are they in contact with other races or are they isolated?*

*We have contacted many different species of life on thousands of worlds and star systems. As for being without clothing it doesn't bother me. If my clothing is returned, i can put them back on, and thus not violate your cultural taboo's. Why were my clothes removed to begin with? My injury doesn't seem to be in an area that was covered.*

*Standard operating procedure for a situation like this. You have, after all, a completely alien physiology than ours. Your clothes were taken and analyzed in a sterile environment. They will be returned once the analysis has been completed of course.* Alex said as he smiled and rose, stepping to the medical console and running another set of full scans on the patient. *How are you feeling? It seems that much of the damage to your system is already beginning to repair itself*

*I see. Strange, but not unusual. At least you didn't cave in my skull with a solid object at least. Nor did you smear my skin with vile microbes or other foul smelling muds. If you posses any garments that won't hamper my wings or motion, than I’d be willing to wear them.* She said to the Doctor, as she attempted to touch her injuries.

S’H’ara Ægeri & Doctor Alex Hagen (a JP)

Alex quickly blocked her hand movements with his own hand, careful not to grab her but letting her feel him blocking her. *I wouldn't advise that, S'H'ara. We had to use a polymethohydroxidate sealant and a dermal regenerator on your wound. Usually they seal up rather quickly, however with your alien chemistry it's taking a bit longer. That's why we had you unconscious, so that you could remain still while it healed.* Alex said, pulling his hand back and smiling.

*If you touch your wounds at this juncture, you could spring internal bleeding and possibly permanent damage to your spinal column. You’re very lucky to be alive with such an injury.* He said as he quickly scanned the being once again and did a little quick and dirty measurements, handing the tricorder to Foley who was waiting, flabbergasted at the apparent lack of communication that he was not privy too. "Foley, take the measurements in the tricorder and replicate a new gown. this one should be able to allow the patient to free her wings without too much difficulty." He said as he turned back to her.

*I'd prefer as little clothing as possible. If you don't mind. It tends to restrict air flow to my skin, makes it difficult to fly.*

*I don't mind, but the Captain may. however that is something you are going to have to take up with him.* Alex smiled, *I see you do have vocal cords, are you capable of auditory communication? Not everyone onboard the ship is capable of responding to you telepathically like I am*

*I am capable of auditory speech, but as I don’t speak your language, and mine is most likely incomprehensible to you. Non vocal speech is easier. And I can hear you whether you can speak mentally or not.*

S’H’ara Ægeri & Doctor Alex Hagen (a JP)

*Of course. Because I am quite certain that the Captain will want to speak with you before this is all finished.* Alex said as he looked out and saw that the patients had stopped coming in, the holographic doctor was working his magic and rounding the last of the injuries out well. Satisfied, Alex looked back at the alien *Is there any environmental concerns that I can take care of for you? Anything I can do to make you comfortable?*

*Your vessel is rather cold. I'd prefer a higher ambient temperature if I’m going to be secluded in this room.* S'H'ara replied.

Alex nodded and touched a control on the panel, raising the temperature of the room a good twenty degrees. Immediately he felt the affects, feeling the sweat begin to form on his brow and his back. The security officer looked at him with a scowl but he just shrugged. *Better?* He asked his visitor

*Noticeably more comfortable, thank you.* the alien female replied. Even though she still stroked both of her arms, and the black covering on them.

*You are welcome... If I may ask, what are those?* Alex said, pointing at her arms and bracers * We couldn’t remove them when we attempted to*

*They are a ... bioneural composition hmm.. a living computer system? They assist me in my work.* She replied honestly. Telepathy was such a hard method for communicating a falsehood.

S’H’ara Ægeri & Doctor Alex Hagen (a JP)

Alex sensed her hesitation and studied her for a moment *And what work is that, ma’am?*

*I'm a scout. I survey planets and star systems. I chart planetary motion and patterns. Record genetic patterns on the populated worlds and categorize them for evolutionary typification. Record frequencies of communication and a multitude of other tasks.*

Just then the door to the Med Bay opened and The Captain and XO walked through the door.

Alex saw the door open and the captain and XO walking through *excuse me* He said as he turned and stepped out of the isolab to meet up with the commanding officers.

Lt. Szera, toiling away.

Her report finished, Lt. Szera began looking over the zero point system. 80% wasn't a good thing, and it was something she was going to fix. The first trouble spot she noted were to the Holodecks. The system had a short that was causing and overabundance of power to be routing into them. Simple enough, Szera shut them down and noted the holodecks for lesser priority repair.

That brought the Zp up to 83%. The replicator system was next. An almost identical short had them on overdrive. As she began to work on the short it blew. The replicators went down. All of them dropped. "Repair crew, immediate priority. Get the medical replicators back online now!" she barked. "Once medical replicators are back online get the ones in crew lounges and the captain's personal back. We will need to feed the crew sooner or later." Szera couldn't remember if the ship had stores aboard of non replicated food.

She checked the repair process on the hull. Most of the areas that weren't directly caused by the impact were on the mend. She'd get a team on that once she knew exactly how many engineers she had left to her. Engineering had taken major casualties in this, and it made Szera unhappy.

"Szera to Captain. Further damage reports, replicators are down as are the holodecks. Holodecks are on last priority, medical replicators are highest. A thought hit me however, do we have any real food provisions aboard the Chimera? We may need to reallocate crew to cooking duty if we do. It may be awhile before I have regular replicators online. They're a very fussy component."

Captain Torres- Sickbay

Miguel nodded as he heard the engineer tell him about the damage the ship had suffered. "Understood, keep me updated." he told her and then closed the channel by tapping his combadge.

Alex saw the door open and the captain and XO walking through *excuse me* He said as he turned and stepped out of the isolab to meet up with the commanding officers.

"So how's our guest Doctor, have you been able to discover anuthing about her yet?" he asked once the Doctor was standing next to them.

<Doc?>

"Excuse me Doctor." Miguel said appologizing for the interupption. "Well we have plenty of fruits, vegetables, and fresh herbs in the hydroponics deck. Just no real meat. However I don't think we'll need to worry about recruiting extra cooks. We have a fine staff serving in both the Captain's mess and in the Okuda Lounge. Let me know when you have any ideas on how to get that ship out of our side so the Chimera's hull can start repairing itself." Miguel told her. He then turned back to the Doctor. "Again I'm sorry about that Doctor. Where were we?"

<Sezra?>

Alex Stepped up to the captain and nodded, bringing his tricorder and the scans along with him to make his report. Just as he was about to open his mouth, he was interrupted by the comm.. He smiled as he listened to the report and stood waiting for his turn to speak
“Again, I’m sorry about that doctor. Where were we?”
“Well I have the initial reports from her scans. She is certainly alien, her physiology is unlike anything in our records, but we did get a lot of good scans. “Alex said as he turned and showed the captain and the first officer the scans.
“She was injured by a bulkhead penetrating her back, very close to her spinal column. We were able to repair most of the damage. Her regenerative system, however, is very advanced and is repairing the damage that we couldn’t get.” Alex said as he moved in stride with the captain and the Xo as the trio stepped towards the patient.
“Other than that, she’s fine. She is, however, telepathic. All of the communication so far with her has been a telepathic conversation between me and her. She says she is a scout of some sort. But she is up and ready to talk”
“Very good doctor, casualty report?” The captain asked
Alex looked over at the sickbay, the wounded people and the doctors still working. “Unknown at this time sir. We have the situation under control, but most of my people are still out collecting the wounded and treating people.”

"Very good Doctor, we need to make sure that we account for all injured or missing people." Miguel told him. "Let's go see our guest."

A few moments later, Miguel was standing in front of the bio bed where the alien was being kept. "I'm Captain Miguel Torres of the Federation starship Chimera. I understand that your telepathic, since I'm not will we need an interpretor of sorts or are you capable of reading my thoughts and transmitting yours to me? If so feel free to do so." he said verbally as well as in his mind. Most telepaths could read and transmit their thoughts to others including non-telepaths, they usually didn't as a result that they felt it was an invasion to do so without permission. So he gave her that permission, without fear of anything else being sent through that he didn't want. After all as a former CEAR member he had been heavily trained to resist mental probes of both and artifical and natural source. So he knew he could keep her out of parts of his mind, depending on how powerful she was, at least for a little while anyway.

S’H’ara Ægeri - Alien Scout

*I am able to comunicate Mind to Mind without you needing the same capability.* S’H’ara replied. It was amazing the number of civilized species that didn't have this ability. She'd have to have this species to that list.

Shift position on the biobed she faced him more evenly, the state of her undress intensly obvious as she did so, her wings shifting slightly in counterpoint to her body mass.

*How long have you possessed intersteller travel?* She asked her curiosity peeked, *Do you possess species from other worlds or just your own?* It was uncommon for multiple species of life to achieve dominance on one planet, but it wasn't unheard of.
