Captain Miguel Torres- Captain's Mess

When it came time for shift change Miguel stood up and gave the ship over to the young Lieutenant that would be the officer in charge until the morning. He also reminded Those of his senior staff that were currently on the bridge (CONN, XO, and CHief of Security) to be at the Captain's Mess in an hour and then he disappeared in the turbolift.

For the Captain and the senior staff it was a quick trip to their quarters actually, since they were all on deck 2. Made their response time to arrive on the bridge during an alert that much faster. For once some designer was thinking when they designed this ship. Although tactically speaking having all the senior staff on one deck was also a bad thing. But he quickly shook his head of that thought as he entered his quarters.

He had already set aside his casual clothing for the dinner and they were laying neatly on his bed. He stripped out of the uniform that he had been in for the last 14 hours, and dumped them in the reclaimator. He thought about whether or not to use the water shower or the sonic shower, finally deciding on using the sonic shower. He wasn't particular about which to use, probably used both an equal number of times over the years. But it was good to have the option, another perk about being a senior officer on the ship. You didn't need to share your quarters with anyone and you had both real water and sonic showers in your quarters.

When he was done with his shower, he quickly put on his boxers, then his black slacks, and blue silk shirt. After combing his hair he added the final piece to the puzzle his communicator. With that he made his way to the turbolift again and this time went to deck 3, where the Captain's mess was located. He entered his personal code and entered the room.

The stewards were just finishing setting up the appatizers. They had chosen different selections from each of the senior staff's homeworlds. Dinner would also be much the same, since the cooking staff had yet to learn what the favorite foods of the senior staff were, but it was a long journey they still had plenty of time.

By the time the first door chime was heard Miguel was standing near the window, looking at the stars as they passed by seemingly slowly. It would be awhile before he saw these stars and planets from this particular viewpoint. As he turned he saw one of the stewards opening the door. The first to arrive was Cdr. T'Ker, somehow he wasn't surprised. Although he couldn't say the same for the poor steward. Obviously the young man hadn't seen the latest variation in the standard uniform for female starfleet personal. Of course even Miguel had to admit that his XO wore that uniform awfully well. "Welcome Commander, please come in and make yourself comfortable. There's appatizers already prepared if you wish." he told her as he simultainiously motioned for her to enter.

OOC: Just to be sure the ones that should be coming to the dinner are. Cdr. T'Ker, Dr. Alex Hagen and if so desired daughter, Thoras, and Lt. Cdr. Doyle. The Security CHief, and Chief Engineer, and Ops are there, but no names since we currently don't have anyone playing them.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Captain's Mess

Stepping into the room A'Lex sighed inwardly, instantly remembering why she avoided these events. The Captain trying to impress people with his cooks skills, the cook trying to impress with his own skills, and showing off for his Captain.

And of course trying to recreate authentic Vulcan dishes. And 95% of the time failing miserably. Stepping closer to the buffet display A'Lex looked over what was available, wondering how long this level of torture would last.

Klingon, Andorian, Vulcan, Human, Betazed, and some dishes that appeared to be from Romulas. Picking up a glass of chilled water Commander T'Ker stepped closer to a wall, and watched as people entered the room.

Miguel smiled as he watched her. She was probably wondering if the Chef was able to do a good job or not. "Come on Commander have some Gespar. The chef tells me it's excellent and quite fresh." he told her, of course his chef better know since he is Vulcan himself. As for Miguel he was an ok cook, but he wasn't in Chef's league. This was a whole other level, much like his brother's. That was when he saw the Chief Engineer walk in, Miguel went over to greet the Lieutenant.

Lt. Commander Hagen, CMO

Lt. Commander Alex Hagen, CMO Personal Quarters

Alex sat and stripped off his uniform after the end of his duty shift. He cracked his neck and looked around at his quarters, knowing he had little time to actually dawdle before he was expected at the captain’s quarters for some dinner.

He was looking forward to it, but like most things in his life he had to consider what to do with his daughter. Sure, Kara would act like a little lady in front of the captain, which was something he had taught her from a very very early age. But having her face the first officer again so soon after her mishap would be troublesome for the nine year old. Right now Kara was in punishment time by sitting in the corner, a little slap on the wrist for a nine year old but one that she fully expected had she been caught.

Alex looked over at his daughter and slipped into his civilian clothes and sighed, wondering not for the first time what she was going to grow up like

“Bridge to doctor.” His combadge sounded. Alex quickly tapped it as his daughter’s head swung around quickly, her curiosity immediately ablaze

“Go for doctor.”

“Doctor, I have the USS Foley on the line for you.”

Alex smiled as he looked over at his daughter, who promptly smiled but turned back in punishment again. He shook his head and responded “Route it to my terminal in my quarters, thank you.”

A second later the terminal on his desk sounded and he stepped to it and activated the signal.

“Hagen, 7224” he said as he input his code to activate the terminal.

Immediately the screen filled with an older woman, her brown hair tinged with lines of distinguished gray and wearing a captain’s uniform that she certainly belonged in. Alex’s Starfleet training snapped his muscles to attention as his eyes darted strait for the captain’s insignia.

“Captain Hagen, this is an unexpected surprise. How may I help you?” He said formally to the elder Starfleet captain in the viewer.

The captain looked at him and smiled warmly, a smile that belied her sharpened edges and tough demeanor. “At ease, Lt. Commander. This isn’t official.”

Alex smiled, relaxing a bit. “How you doing Mom?”

Rachel Hagen, Captain of the USS Foley, was one of the captains who were certainly on her way to the top. She had been commanding Starfleet battleships and exploration missions for near 20 years and the news on the grapevine was that she would be promoted to admiral soon, joining such greats as Picard, Janeway, and others.

Rachel Hagen was also the step mother of Alex and the only mother he really knew growing up.

The veneer of Starfleet training and rank bled off quickly as Rachel smiled and relaxed a bit. “Not too bad, Alex. I heard of your new assignment, congratulations.”

“Thank you, thank you. Are you sure you didn’t have anything to do with it?” Alex jabbed her a bit

She smiled and shook her head. It wasn’t widely circulated that Captain Hagen was Commander Hagen’s Step-Mother and both of them fought to make sure it stayed that way. Rachel never once intervened on Alex’s Starfleet life, except to get a few of her friends to endorse his request for entry into Starfleet academy. And the pair of them dealt with the other in official terms in front of everyone else. She was a captain, he was a medical officer. He wouldn’t hesitate to remove her from command if he thought it was the most prudent move and found her as incompetent and unable to be in command, just like she wouldn’t hesitated to bust him down to cadet if he had screwed up in his own right.

They were only mother and son on private moments like these.

“No no, you got that posting on your own merit, Alex. I always said you would make a great officer.”

“Thanks mom. Have you talked to Dad lately?”

A look of loneliness entered Rachel’s’ dazzling eyes. “No, I haven’t’ spoken to him lately. I’m going to give him a call and perhaps try to see him next time we are in the area.”

Alex nodded. Life of a Starfleet officer as hard, especially with a family.

Rachel shrugged off the momentary emotion and looked at him straightly again “How’s that granddaughter of mine doing?”

Alex went into an explanation of the latest exploits of his daughter to her grandmother while the older woman chuckled and grinned the entire time. “You have quite a handful on your hands don’t you, Alex? “

“Maybe, but I love her. Didn’t expect her to be this…”

“Well what do you expect? We found you in the middle of a warp conduit right before they were about to fire it off at the age of five, remember?”

Alex shivered at the memory of that, and the punishment he had received from his parents later. “Yeah… but still. She’s punished right now, but would you like to talk to her?”

“Of course!”

Alex looked over at his daughter, who was standing right next to him, having moved before he even thought a word. He smiled and stood as his daughter jumped up and began to excitedly tell her grandmother of her latest exploits.

Alex stepped out of the room to give the girls some privacy and sighed, looking at the time. He walked over to the wall and tapped out a sequence, activating a small holographic program he had brought with him from the last ship. A second later a nice older man appeared in front of him.

“Hello, Mr. Hagen. How can I be of service today?”

Alex smiled as the holo sitter appeared in front of him. “John, I’m heading out to dinner with the captain and Kara is on the line with Rachel. Can you make sure that she is in bed by the usual time? I probably won’t’ be home until alter.”

“Of course sir, shall I restrict her movements to quarters?”

“Yes, she shouldn’t’ be out at this hour on the ship. She’s also being punished so no ice-cream.”

“Of course sir.”

“I’m serious, Jon. No Ice-cream. If I hear you gave her ice-cream and I will decompile you.”

The hologram smiled “of course sir.”

Alex nodded and closed his eyes, informing his daughter of his location and the situation. She protested a bit mentally back, but she was too wrapped up in the conversation with her grandmother to really put up much of a fight. Alex smiled and stepped out, heading to the captain’s quarters.

Lt. Commander Alex Hagen, Captain’s Personal Mess

Alex stepped in and looked over the spread of food in front of him. He saw his seat easily, a plate with a mixture of betazedian and romulan foods. He sighed as he looked over the choices, but decided not to say anything. The captain had prepared them and he would be delighted to try them. All Alex desired at this point was some red meat, but he shrugged internally to himself.

Alex looked over and saw the Captain speaking with the offers who had already arrived and nodded at him. He looked over the room and sighed, only really two people he knew, captain and first officer. Well, that would change quickly he thought to himself.

He saw the First officer standing against the wall and nodded to her, picking up his own drink and slowly sipping, stepping over to her. “Commander, Good to see you again.”

Captain Miguel Torres- Captain's Mess

Miguel walked over to where the CMO and his XO were standing. "Doctor I'm not sure if you've had the honor of meeting our Chief Engineer, Lt. Commander Sebastian Oliver. Mr. Oliver this is our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Alex Hagen." He said introducing the two gentlemen. "Mr. Oliver I believe you already know our XO."

Oliver nodded as he extended his hand to shake the Doctor's hand. "Pleasure to meet you Doctor. And yes sir I've met the Commander already." he said smiling at the ship's XO. She had let some of his people have it already about some of the systems that weren't working properly. They had gotten into it just a tad bit afterwards, both said what they needed to say to each other and moved on afterwards. "Nice to see you again Commander."

Lt. Thoras

Nearly an hour had passed since the senior officers had vacated the bridge to prepare for the gathering in the captain's mess. Thoras himself had seriously considered skipping the meeting, citing his rank as cause for him not to attend. Of course, the Vulcan XO was another good reason for him. Personally speaking. Still, he couldn't shake the responsability of being the cheif conn officer, and so reluctantly ave over his station to a young female human. Ensign Bodair, if memory served.

Leaving the bridge as quickly as he was able, Lt. Thoras made hsi way to his personal quarters. Most people who saw them would consider them extremely spartan, but the Andorian just prefered to have everything in it's place, and away from prying eyes. Like mostr things he did, there was tactical reasoning behind it. He hadn't been on duty for more than an hour, so he reasoned that a shower would be unneccisary at this point. Stripping out of his uniform, he neatly folded it, placing it in an empty drawer, before putting on his dress uniform. If he was going to eat with the captain, he should look the part.

Leaving his quarters, Lt. Thoras made the short journey to the captain's mess and pressed the door chime, waiting patiently to be admitted in

Captain Miguel Torres- Captain's Mess

The door opened and the steward welcomed the newly arrived officer. Miguel had looked towards the door when he heard the chime and saw the Chimera's helmsmen arrive. Of course the fact that he was in his dress uniform surprised him. To each there own Miguel thought. "Grab yourself a drink and an appitizer or two from the buffet Lieutenant then come join us."

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Captain's Mess

A'Lex had watched as each senior officer stepped into the room. She'd even been mildly astonished when he walked over to her.

“Commander, Good to see you again.”

The XO didn't even have a chance to inhale for a responce before the Captain was ushering over the Chief Engineer.

"Nice to see you again Commander."

Looking at the Engineer she wondered if he was actually pleased, or wether he was lying out of politeness. Instead of responding immediately she took a sip of water and arched an eyebrow, something that seemed to bring out strange reactions in those that watched her do it. She'd watched people walk into walls, while others turned agressive and hostile. A lingusitics Ensign had even fainted, but she'd still not gotten an explaination on that one.

And she'd even been mildly attractive, for a human.

Looking at both of the new Offciers, A'Lex simpley nodded to each of them. "I hope that your daughter is doing better Doctor. And not crawling into any more hatch ways that Engineering has accidentally left open and unsecured." She finished, her head slowly transferring from the Doctor to the Chief Engineer.

"After all, having a child endangered by someones reckless behaviour is rather.. disturbing, Don't you agree, Lieutenant Commander?"

Marigold Doyle - Ships Counselor - Holodeck - Quarters - Captain's Mess

Marigold Doyle sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. She knew, from reading up on Earth medical history, that this would be the time when she would experience a 'headache' though she imagined it would just make her situation worse.

She had scheduled an interview (not commonly done) with Kara Hagen, for the first few hours of school. The girl would be sent to Doyle's own personal quarters - it would make her hopefully feel more at ease. She was curious as to Kara's empathic ability, as she was sure the little girl would know.

She also attempted to schedule a meeting with the CMO - perhaps a few hours after seeing Kara. If he had the time - he had yet to send her request either a denial or an acceptance. She of course, had by now been fully informed of the extent of Kara's 'trip' into the jeffrey tubes. Quietly and only to herself, she imagined that the girl had had an excellent time.

After escorting a crew member from the especially designated HoloRoom made for her use alone, she blanked the controls and returned it to its normal state. A slate of greyness greeted her and she smiled. It definitely did help her patients when they were made comfortable and she went to the extra effort of simulating a soothing environment.

Stepping into her quarters some time later, she quickly showered and pressed on her dress uniform. She wasn't sure - what with her not knowing the majority of the senior crew just yet - what the word 'casual dress' would mean for others. So she chose her dress uniform - she may look pompous, but who really cared?

As she entered the captain's mess, she saw that some of the senior staff were already there. The captain was playing host most graciously and introducing everyone to everyone else. She smiled at the others, but did not interrupt their conversations. She was more of an observer.

She too only took a drink - though she nibbled on a lettuce leaf she found in a salad - and made her way to a corner (not too far) and stood, sipping and observing, making notes in that expansive memory of hers.

Sebastian raised an eyebrow of his own at that comment. It was a mistake that anyone could have made. The access hatch the child had used couldn't be used by an adult size human to access anything. And at the time they were still in dock, which meant there was nothing in the regulations against them being open at that particular moment in time. However she was right, and it burned his britches to have to acknowledge that. "Yes ma'am it is." he said as he drank some of his synthale. But inside he was thinking about ripping her pointed ears off. In fact he was tempted, even if he'd give up a promising carreer in the process. Didn't matter to him that she was a woman, a hot one for that matter. But he'd bite his tongue. He had already ordered that even when in dock they were to make sure all access hatches were to be closed when not in use. They didn't have that many kids on this ship, but if one got hurt he was going to make sure it wasn't his fault.

Captain Miguel Torres- Captain's Mess

Miguel had noticed that Counselor was off into her own little corner, observing. He understood that was part of her job, however this wasn't meant to be work. He wanted his crew to be more then just a good team, he wanted them to be more like a family. Granted some of them would eventually leave and move on to other ships. But he wanted to make sure that their time on Chimera would be a good one.

Miguel walked over to "Counselor, the party is over there. Can't join in the fun if your over here all by yourself." he said.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Captain's Mess

"Your efforts will be appreciated, Mr. Oliver." A'Lex replied. She wouldn't continue berating the Chief Engineer, he had a job to do and had agreed to do it. So her verbal chstisement was complete. Unless he and his people failed.

"You appear to have something you wish to discuss, Doctor. How can I assist you?" She finally asked, her eyebrow arching as she awaited his reponse.

Alex Hagen, CMO LT. Commander

Alex Hagen, Lt Commander CMO

Alex took an absent minded sip of the old human drink he had ordered, something called a white Russian with synthol, and watched everyone in the room with a small grin. He decided to remain silent at the exchange between the first officer and Lt. Commander Oliver. He merely nodded in agreement.

His own emotions almost screamed at him to interject, since he wasn’t too pleased that the hatch was open for his daughter to get to begin with, however he knew his daughter. If there was a way to open it or to get there, she would find it and happily so.

However in this room, the emotions were beginning to rise. Not from the Vulcan of course, outside of the general air of hostility and icy demeanor that nearly all Vulcan’s possessed, but from the engineer in front of her. And of course he could understand the emotion rolling off of the man. It was his responsibility to have those access ports closed and one of the people under his command actually did leave it open and a child did open it. He was embarrassed, a bit hostile at being dressed down in front of the other officers, and most of all his emotions were guilt at himself.

Alex never was one for intruding on someone’s emotions. He never purposely
attempted to pick up emotions other than his daughter or in a professional capacity, but as a born empathy he was like an antenna. He picked up errant emotions from untrained individuals as easily as his nose picked up the scent flowing off of the spiced Ikon Roast on the buffet table. That was one delicacy that he absolutely loved as his mouth began to water. But he mentally shook his head as he opened his mouth.

“I agree with the commander in so far as to say that the door being open is a hazard especially to children, but that being said I know my daughter as well. She would have found a way in.” He said with a warm smile.

"Your efforts will be appreciated, Mr. Oliver." A'Lex replied. She wouldn't continue berating the Chief Engineer, he had a job to do and had agreed to do it. So her verbal chastisement was complete. Unless he and his people failed.

"You appear to have something you wish to discuss, Doctor. How can I assist you?" She finally asked her eyebrow arching as she awaited his response.

Alex smiled and looked over at the commander again “yes, ma’me. Just a friendly reminder that you haven’t yet scheduled your physical with me yet, but that can wait. We’re supposed to be having a good time right?” He said with a friendly smirk, already anticipating her response.

He looked over at the captain as he moved to greet the Counselor and smiled his greeting. He had received the appointment request for his daughter and for himself earlier and wondered exactly what she would like to speak to his daughter about privately for. Sure, it must have been a good opportunity to speak to an empathic child, but his daughter and he had been through so much counseling over the last 9 years that he was starting to get a bit sick of it.

However Alex was not one to discredit a fellow medical professional and had allowed the scheduling of his daughter’s appointment without much question.

Of course he would need to speak to her to make sure that certain details remained secret, but it was also his experience that councilors wouldn’t really pry into things that were classified too heavily. Besides, he had taught his daughter the meaning of the word ‘classified’ a long time ago and she used it as an excuse almost as happily as he did.

He turned back to the commander and smiled “Oh, I’ve also had several complaints from crew members that it is very warm on the ship, the gravity seems to be a bit higher than normal. I investigated and found that the heat and the warmth seem to correspond to the living conditions that are standard on most Vulcan ships. Is there any way we could get those set to meet Starfleet protocols?” he asked with a smile.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Captain's Mess

"I'll look into the condition of the Environmental Control settings, Doctor. They may not have been reset after the primary assembly and technical team left." Mentally she made a not to reset the Environment to the primary population of the ship. After all if the ship was crewed by mostly Klingons, why should the few Humans be in comfort while the majority was uncomfortable?

After the doctor moved to speak with the counselor, A'Lex looked around and spotted the Captain, almost crowding - or hovering as a human would say - nearby. Stepping closer she waited to see if she'd be interupting him, then informed him."The Doctor has informed me of complaints on the envirnmetal settings. Shall i go with crew population majority? Or standard settings?"

As for her exam, she'd take one.. eventually..........

Captain Miguel Torres- Captain's Mess

Miguel thought about that for a moment. He was sure the settings were already where they should have been. "The settings should already be set to resembel the settings for population majority of species on the ship, execpt for private quarters anyway. It could be that there's a malfunction in the system. It's is a new ship after all. We have have the on duty operations officer look into it. If the settings were changed he can change them back. If it's a malfunction they can repair it and file a report." Miguel told her. He was wondering why he didn't feel as light on his feet as normal. Hopefully it wasn't a malfunction and just an oversight.

Doyle managed to smile and then grin as she was led back to the main group. There were a few conversations going on at the moment, so she was still quiet, only saying that she was sorry to the captain. She had not known any of the crew before coming aboard and despite her rank, she was a little nervous.

Taking the opportunity when it arose (after the conversation died down) she cleared her throat and introduced herself to anybody willing to listen, "Hello, nice to meet you all. I'm Lt Cmdr Marigold Doyle. Most people just call me Mari," she remembered to add a nice smile too.

Thoras, captain's mess

Thoras nodded at the Captain's greeting and stepped inside the mess. At once, his attention was drawn to the Vulcan XO. She seemed to be absolutly everywhere today.

Others started arriving quite quickly as Thoras moved over to the rather generous spread of foods and drinks. Casting his gaze over everything there, he spotted a bottle of Andorian ale. At least the captain seemed to know a good drink when he saw one! Thoras smiled as he poured himself a glass.

Standing back from most of the others, Thoras watched everyone else start to mingle and exchange comments about various mundane things. Content to stand back and atch, Thoras sipped his ale.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Captain's Mess

Nodding in acknowledgement Commander T'Ker stepped back and over to a wall. Tapping the comm badge she contacted the bridge and determined the ship was predominantly human. Instructing the ops officer to set the computer so that over the next three terran days the gravity and environmental systems would set to Earth (terran) standard. After another couple moments the XO was able to determine that the last Environmental change had occured some eight months previously. When Vulcans and Klingons had been working on the ship.

Noticing the Helmsman enter she moved over to him. "Congradulations Mr. Thoras, You managed to not damage the ship, or scratch the paint." she added. She wasn't trying to joke. Just stating facts, with his excellent piloting skills he'd managed to avoid adding work to the engineering staff. They had enough on their work detail making sure all the access hatches were closed, sealed, and secure.

Captain Miguel Torres- Captain's Mess

Things seemed to be going well from Miguel's perspective. A few issues needed to be worked out, but that was usually the case when officers were dealing with each other for the first time. Miguel's attention was soon brought back to reality when he heard the small chime indicating that dinner was ready. "Well it seems as if the Chef is ready for us. Let's take our seats." he told everyone. And then made his way to the table.

Miguel stood at the end of the table and watched as his officers began to sit down. There was no particular sitting arrangement, so they could sit anywhere they wished. Although protocol always had the Captain sitting at the head of the table, which is where he stood. There were salads already plated and waiting while the stewards were pouring champaign into their glasses. Everyone had a glass of water next to their glass of champaign, for those who would chose not to drink. When everyone had a full glass the Captain raised his glass. "To the future." he said toasting his officers and then took a drink from it.

Lt. Thoras, captain's mess

Thoras smiled and raised his glass in thanks at the comment from the Commander. He knew how Vulcans thaught. They nearly always just made statements of fact, plain and true. Still, some other species might not take it quite as it was intended. "Of course, Commander. I'm quite good at piloting ships, you know." He motioned with one hand toward the bottle of Andorian ale. "Please, do try the ale. It's much better than all those sinthahols"

A chime sounded, and the Captain directed everyone to take a seat. Thoras looked at Commander T'ker and smiled again "After you, Commander"

Once the chime for dinner sounded, Doyle gratefully sank into her chair. She chose one at random, ending up somewhere near the other end of the table from where the captain sat. But, luckily, ending up near the CMO.

She chose not to drink, preferring only to drink in private, and then only sparingly, at the least. So she raised the glass of water to the captains toast and sipped at its contents happily. She waited politely for others to begin eating - then tucked into the salad set before her. She always loved salads, it was something that she had grown to enjoy quite well while in the Academy.

Commander A'Lex T'Pol T'Ker - XO - Captain's Mess

"I don't imbibe alcohol, Mr. Thoras," A'Lex replied as the chime sounded. "Ever."

Turning she made her way to the table, her slow confident stride accentuated by her uniform to becoming something more.. alluring and prevocative.

Taking a seat on the Captain's right side she looked at the wine and water. She didn't touch the wine, or alter her facial expression in the slightest, but something intangible indicated she disapproved of it. Lifting her water she acknowleged the Captain's toast with a sip.

Then with typical Vulcan tenacity she began smoothly and efficiantly slicing the small selection of bread she'd choosen into sections. Only when she was done cutting did she begin eating. She wasn't one for small talk, so events like these, although required of her position as the ships Executive Officer, tended to be rather.. uncomfortable for her.

Dinner and a Toast

Lt. Commander Alex Hagen, Captain’s Mess

Alex was about to open his mouth to respond to the new councilor when the captain rose the announcement for the dinner to proceed. Alex smiled to himself and slowly made his way to a seat, preferring to be a bit farther away from the captain and first officer’s seats, considering the command structure.

He was a doctor, and while he did have full override authority in medical cases, when was not exactly a member of the full power structure of the usual day to day running on the bridge.

That was fine by him. His stepmother had let him accompany her on a few shifts on the bridge, a learning experience. He certainly hadn’t enjoyed it. The second time she did it he had wandered off and had found his way inexplicably to the sickbay where the old doctor was running medical drills and was fascinated for some reason. He was hooked for the rest of his natural life.

Alex sat and looked around, across the table to the councilor, looking over her for a moment before smiling and turning his attention towards the captain.

He picked up his glass of champagne and raised it in the captain’s toast and took a sip to the captain’s toast. He tasted the wine as it flowed around his tongue, tickling his senses before he drank it down. Not as powerful as Romulan ale, certainly not as sweet as Betazoidian white Wine, but it was passable. And Alex knew it was tradition, one of those human traditions that have survived for the centuries.

After the toast had finished, Alex looked down at his plate and slowly speared a tomato, raising the ripened fruit to his mouth and sliding it in with a silent sigh. His mouth chewed slowly, relishing the taste of his favorite earth fruit, before swallowing slowly. He opened his eyes and looked over at the councilor.

“I’m sorry, Councilor, I was going to introduce myself before however…” He said with a smile “I’m Lt. Commander Alex Hagen. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Alex turned to the Comm. officer and nodded to him “And it is a pleasure to meet you as well, Lieutenant Thoras. Excellent piloting out of space dock” Alex said with a smile again.

Alex turned to the councilor, spearing another tomato along with a piece of lettuce on his fork and toying with it a bit “I did receive your request for sessions for both myself and my daughter, Ms. Doyle. I’m just curious, is there a specific reason for your request so early in the voyage?” He asked with an unassuming smile.

Ooc – tag for anyone. Just trying to start up a convo

Marigold - captain's mess

Mari ate her salad sparingly. She wasn't all that hungry, all of a sudden and mainly it was due to the officialness of her situation. It was awkward for her - being with so many military officers that usually considered her line of work only a side thought.

She paused as the doctor turned to her and spoke, smiling gently and shaking her head, "I became aware of the... incident... today with Kara. I thought that making adjustments for such a large ship as this one, with your abilities together, may be proving a little much for her. I wanted to get a general sense of how you were going, that's all. Due to what happened today, I thought it best to talk to Kara as soon as I could - if that's okay with you?"

Her smile was genuine and she made it seem like a trivial thing that she had requested their presences.

"The reason I asked for separate sessions is simply because I want to see how Kara acts without you around. To see if she," Mari paused, "If she would open up a bit more. It is my responsibility to keep up moral on this ship, military and civilian crew included."

Lt. Thoras, captains mess

Thoras had nodded once at the Vulcan's response to his offer. How very like them to to enjoy a drink every once in a while. Probably leaves them a touch closer to their emotions than they would like...

As soon as the chime sounded, Thoras found a seat for himself next to the ships doctor. A human, and a seemingly personable one at that. Like all the rest, he listened to the Captain's toast, and raised his glass, taking a sip of his ale.

The doctor introduced himself to the councilor as "lt. cmdr. Alex hagen". Thoras noted that for future referance. The doctor than turned and commented on the smooth departure from spacedock to him. Again, Thoras nodded his head, twitched his antenae, and smiled "A pleasure to meet you too, doctor. And thank you for the compliment. I'll do my best to make sure no-one arrives in sickbay complaining of being thrown into a wall by sharp turns" He chuckled slightly at his own joke
