Suburb Adventures

John Miller

After dinner, John decided to go out to his garage. He was building a bookshelf and decided to do some more work on it. As he was working, he left the garage and went out onto his front lawn. Looking down the street, he noticed that there was smoke coming from the chimney of the Peterson house. "That is odd," John thought to himself, "it's not even cold."

Dave

"Shit" Dave said as an arrow narrowly missed his head. He stumbled and fell backwards hitting his head on the sidewalk. His vision blurred as he got to his feet. He ran back to his car and sped home.

Todd

Well after laying down the large creature. You feel fairly secure to head back up stairs and you may consider all your weapons clean. You aren't sure about all the neighbors since there have been new arrivals but that isn't any trouble. You pickup the town handbook. Unlike what the phone company puts out it is grouped by neighborhood with local businesses and houses with addresses and maps (OOC you all have this since the town sends it to all residence..another fun fact is that your phone, utility, property taxes are payed in one bill.)

Upon walking downstairs thought the corpes is gone and there is a funny smell of rotting flesh left behind.

Jessica Spiegel

You dial the phone as you arm yourself and leave a message. As you head towards the back door your heart jumps as the phone rings. You hear steps on the house deciding that your potential threat is more important you head outside. Into the deep night you peer searching around. You soon see something that you can't imagen.

Dressed in a black hooded cloke with red around the edges stands and ax weilding tresspasser. He lunges towards you....ax foward glimming in the moon light as he runs screaming something you can't comprehend eyes black on black like a shark's without any sigh of emotion.

Prepare to defend yourself......

Samantha

You can't spot anyone, but you still feel the need to check the locks and close the drapes as you change. Your kitty seems content to play in the living room. On your way out your stopped in your path by......

The Global express man greets you with a smile. "You have an order miss.... ah can't tell you would it is from..the company only gives a code. It is heavy though. Could you spare a minute to sigh for this Miss? Nice to make a stop on this route besides that old house down the road." He points to the old creepy house....The Peterson house.

John

You labor in the gardage and even seem to make some progress on your job. Your bookshelf is taking shape when your wife comes out to join you with a kiss, a smile, and a cup of coffee.

"You know you have been out here two hours and that has been going steady. Think they are burning something Oh have you seen the chainsaw? I haven't seen it in here a few days."

Dave

Well a bit scared and hurt you make it home. In your kitchen you put ice in a zip lock bag and on your head. Someone was aiming to kill and they saw you head home......

Sleep well on this night of the full moon.....

Jessica

Jessica was armed to the teeth with a pair of sai and a katana. She eaily lopped off the head of the goon with the x's for eyes with the katana as she finished off various goons of the sort with various weapons. She dove inside her house and locked the doors again, gripping the sai

Todd

Todd grunted, and collected all his weapons and ammo in the most defensible position in the old house: the kitchen. Besides, it had lots of food. He got some tools, and set everything out on the counters in the kitchen, thinking to himself as he loaded his cleaned weapons and arranged the sharpened swords, knives, and shotgun ammo belt on his person.

He put the helmet on his head, and sighed. He tapped his chin, and decided on who to call. His finger moved across the numbers, and the names, and the addresses. Jessica Spiegel lived in his neighborhood.

He seemed to recall a woman named Jessica. He silently wished he'd learned more about his neighbors. He'd brought the recharger into the kitchen, and displaced the toaster. He dialed, wondering how he was going to explain himself to his neighbors.

Then he wondered if he should call in sick tomorrow...

Dave

As Dave slowly walked into the bedroom he pulled the flask out of his pocket and finished the last of the liquor. He got undressed and got into bed. He laid there for what seemed like hours but was really only a few minutes before he got back up and began to pace the room. Someone was trying to kill him and that just didn't sit well. He walked to his night stand and opened the drawer revealing a .44 caliber revolver. Dave put on some pants and picked up the gun. He stuck the gun in the front waistline of his pants and walked in the living room. Grabbing the cigar and lighter off the table walked out the front door. It was a full moon and a semi-cold night so he regretted not putting on a shirt. He sat down on the front step of his porch and lit his cigar thinking it's going to be a long night.

Jessica

Jessica locked the doors and dove into the kitchen, good thing she had gone shopping yesterday. She had her cell phone on the charger along with her stash of weapons.

Samantha

Samantha was startled by the Global Express man standing outside her door. She had him bring the box inside and she signed for it with a sigh of relief.

Just as the man was walking out the door her phone rang. She picked it up and it was her boss saying that he was sick today and wouldn't be opening the office today so she could go ahead and stay home. She was actually kind of glad she didn't have to go into work and could stay home and hopefully make sure she could actually use the weapons correctly.

As she started pulling stuff out of the box she wondered if swords came with a "How to" video...probably not.

Glad you like the story.....now don't involve yourself in it. Try a pm

John Miller

John went back to work in the garage. After a while, his wife came out and offered him a glass of lemonade. Elise kissed him on the cheek.

"Elise, come here, I want yo uto see something," he said, taking her hand. He walked her to where they could see the Peterson house. "Isn't it unusual to have a chimney burning in this weather?"

Elise playfully tapped John's arm. "Honey, I think you are just being paranoid. I am sure there is a reasonable explanation for why their chimney is burning."

Ever the logical shrink, John thought to himself about his wife. As she turned to go back into the house, he stopped her. "Elise, I forgot to ask, have you seen the chainsaw?"

Elise stood there for a moment in thought. "Well, I know I saw it here a few days ago. Are you sure you haven't misplaced it again, or lent it to a neighbor?"

"You're right, baby, I am sure it will turn up," he said as she went back into the house and he cleaned up the mess from his work.

Jessica

The razor sharp katana cuts through the air and almost as easily it cuts through the ax handle and the your attackes head which rolls into the yard. As you look around the kitchen deciding your coarse of action after you lock the door your surprised.

Another black cloak attacks you it is like a dark cloud coming around the corner. A four spiked glove pierces the flesh of you shoulder you aren't able to get the sword up fast enough to block and you go against the fridge with a thud.

The attackers hood comes off and reveals a woman head shaved except for a few long lengths off the top. Hard eye makeup she looks in your eyes as she twists her hand.......

"See one you never see what comes from the shadows.........." She laughs evilly.

Todd

You gear up and you seem confident that you can take on a platoon by yourself. You are alittle worried about the fact the go in so easy and looks like a good idea that you hit the soda or the coffee. You do ring Jessica but with no luck it just rings. You think it is a bit odd because she keeps a pretty normal routine.....this night though has been filled with odd stuff though.

You glance at your image in the mirror............old school soldier look. Now you just have to act like it.

Samantha

The Global Express man gladly helps you out and smiles as you sigh for the gear. With the day off you relax and take your time with your day. Though you eagerly rip open the boxes of equipment. The include as a free bonus a large camouflage sheet and a Karate training uniform with a white top and black pants. It fits you well. The gear which you lay out on the camo cloth.

It is all there and the company sells many books and vidoes but you just didn't order them from the company this time. This doesn't stop you from using the new toys though. At one point though without thinking you swing your sword and cut your coffee table in half destroying it. Quality isn't the question......that part is covered.

Dave

Your armed and ready and you have never felt a night go on longer in your life. Hell being drunk and nearly killed will screw with anyone's mind. More then a few times a sound down stairs send you down there looking and searching with no luck.

Morning finally comes.......an eternity later it seems. You light a fresh one and walk to the window to greet the morning. A reflection from the top of the old house catches your attention. You look up and see an old man looking at you through binocalars. This is far from over....

John Miller

Well later that night you and your wife get an answer to at least one of your questions. You awake at the begining of the night to somone cutting down your back door with a saw......possible yours. Right model anyway. Behind the well armed home invader are 4 others all clad like ninjas as well. You oberver this from the window above.

They haven't seen you yet.....

Dave

"Son of a bitch!" Dave yelled to himself. "What the fuck is going on in this town!" He quickly shut all the window blinds in his house and made his way to the bedroom. Since he had not slept all night Dave was a little out of it and grabbed the first shirt he found and put it on. It was a black shirt that was two sizes too big and on the front said "bad to the bone" and had a picture of a chihuahua with a spiked collar.

As dave left the bedroom he passed a mirror and saw the shirt but was in a hurry to leave. He placed the gun on the table not wanting to take it outside.

He walked out of the house and started back to where he had left his car. On his way he passed by one of his neighbor's windows and saw a flash of light. It only lasted a secend but it was long enough for Dave to realize it was a blade. A long blade, maybe even a sword. Someone was swinging a sword in that house! "My god someone is being killed!" he thought to himself. He ran as fast as he could to the front door of the home and kicked. He kicked with all the power and strength he had. The door frame split into a hunderd pieces and the door fell to the gound.

A woman stood in the middle of the room holding a sword and there was a table cut in half in front of her. Dave had seen her around but had never talked to her. He was in deep shit.

"Hi."

Jessica axed the goon with one clean shot of her katana a la Vicious from CB.She then grabbed her weapons belt and tore for Todd's house, they had met when she moved in a few months before

Samantha

Samantha was pleasantly surprised to find the camouflage sheet and karate training outfit. She tried the training outfit on and was glad to see it fit very nicely. She spread the sheet out and placed all of her new weapons out on them.

She held each of the serrated knives and tried to get used to how they felt in her hand and gave the steel baton a few swings too. She wanted to actually throw the throwing knives, otherwise she wouldn't actually know if she could use them right. She wasn't sure where to try them out and didn't want to leave ugly marks on her wall so she took down a large painting she had over the couch and threw them there. It took her a few throws to get it right but she managed to only hit the wall that the painting would cover and only hit the couch once. She honestly didn't think she'd ever use the throwing knives but at least she knew she could.

She had saved the sword for last and eagerly picked it up and started giving it a few swings. It wasn't nearly as heavy as she'd expected but it was still a little awkward. "I'll have to order one of the training videos they sell" she thought to herself as she started swinging the sword with more enthusiasm. As she turned to give it one more swing she misjudged how hard she swung and watched in horror as it connected with her coffee table and sliced through.

As she looked down at the ruined coffee table she heard steps outside the front door and looked up just in time to see it explode into pieces. In walked one of her neighbors. She didn't know his name but recognized him as the one who was always speeding down the street. Seeing him this close she also realized she had seen him around the college. As he glanced around and saw the broken table she could see him realize his mistake before he looked back at her.

"Hi."

"Hi...That's all? You just ruined my front door."

As I tried to calm down I glanced at his shirt and couldn't help but smile.
"Ok, I do wish you hadn't ruined my door but I assume you have a good reason for it? I'm Samantha by the way."

Dave

Dave stood there dumbfounded. He couldn't believe he'd destroyed her door. "um.....I'm very sorry about the door. I saw a sword through the window and well................sorry." He had no idea how she was going to take this. " If you will give me a chance and let me use your phone I will get it fixed for you."

Samantha

"um.....I'm very sorry about the door. I saw a sword through the window and well................sorry. If you will give me a chance and let me use your phone I will get it fixed for you."

Samantha cringed when she heard him mention the sword. She realized she must look at least somewhat silly with all the weapons laying out and the outfit, not to mention the once whole coffee table that was now sliced in two. Then again a lot stranger things seemed to be going on lately.

"Yeah well I was just trying to get used to this new sword. I suppose I should have closed the curtains first. The phone is right over there." I said pointing to the kitchen wall.

As he went over to the phone I quickly put all the weapons back in the box along with the camouflage sheet and waited for him to get off the phone.

Todd

Todd had hung up. Todd was holding the shotgun, glancing out into his backyard. He grunted, and moved to his back door, unlocking it and stepping into the night. He heard a sound, and turned, pulling his shotgun around.

He noticed someone moving towards him. "Who goes there!?"

Dave

Dave looked in the phone book and called the number for "Dealing Bob's Door Repair" and was told it could be hours before anyone gets out to the house and on top of that "Dealing Bob" told him it was going to cost one hundred and fifty dollars "That doesn't sound like much of a deal Bob" he said. "Just get over here quick." He hung up the phone and walked over to Sam. "They said it will be a while. I'm Dave by the way and I live down the street." He held out his hand and waited.

Samantha

"They said it will be a while. I'm Dave by the way and I live down the street."

"It's nice to meet you Dave" Samantha said as she shook his hand. "I've seen you around the neighborhood. I've also seen you around the college too."

As she finished her sentance she saw that Dave was looking behind her with a strange look on his face. She turned around and looked to see what he was staring at she saw Cougar had come out from behind the couch and he was still half covered in black paint. Realizing Dave must think she had painted the poor thing she quickly explained.

"That's my cat, he was missing for a couple weeks and then last night he just showed up in the backyard. He was covered in that black paint and had this pentagram tied around his neck. I have to take him to the groomer this morning to get it all washed off."

She knew this sounded ridiculous and he probably thought she was making it up. It must look a little suspicious, her here with all these weapons and her cat painted black.

Linkups and Alliances........can't waste the day because the night brings the hurt.....

Dave and Samantha

There have been many strange meetings between men an women since the dawn of time which include situations like, "oh this is your wife," and "your father was a construction worker and yelled the rudest thing and we fell in love." The situation though where a man deprived of sleep kicks down a door armed with a hand gun to confront a neighbor lady who is practicing with a arsenal of weapons is a new one.....

You don't seem to be killing each other and strength in numbers seems like a good move.

A crossbow bolt flies through the air and the open door and bangs into the halway wall with a thud. So much for keeping the place intact. A note attach reads....nice toys. You will get to play with them tonight..........(written in blood)

On the good new front the door repair man arrives. The Bob's son gives a few odd looks but says the job won't take long but asks if you want any improvements or have any other security needs looking at the pair of you warily.

"A lot of people have been upgrading lately. Heavy duty doors, armor glass, and military grade alarms. I guess I will get started here."

Todd and Jessica

Jessica manages to down the second attacker but not without taking a wound. As you head over to Todd's house through the backyards your shoulder bleeds as you run with the gear. By the time you make it to his door your shirt in that area is blood soaked.

Todd you step outside with your shotgun and smell the clean night air and what makes this and even nicer is no dark and creepy individuals running around.. Except.......for well you see a well armed and bleeding woman coming into your yard. The automatic lights that your grandfather intalled kick on revealing all.

(sorry all......was waiting for a few more posts. now a party is coming together)

John Miller

John watched as the intruders broke down his back door and snuck into the house. He gently roused Elise and told her what was going on. Quietly, he led her down the hall into the bathroom. He told her to lock the door and wait their quietly. He then lfted open the bathroom window. He looked out the window to the right to make sure that no one had come back out. He then climbed out of the window and dropped down onto the roof of the garage. He waited for a moment to make sure no one had heard him.

When he saw that the way was clear, he climbed down off the garage and entered it through the little side door. He turned on the overhead light and began looking around for something that could be used as a weapon. He found his aluminum bat in the corner and grabbed it. He slowly opened the door leading into the kitchen and saw that there was someone in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. John silently crept up behind the ninja, the bat being held tight in his hands. When he was the right distance behind the ninja, John took a hard swing. There was a slight metallic clang as the bat connected with the head of the ninja, cracking his skull. The ninja's knees buckled beneath him and he fell to the floor with a thump. Before John realized what that meant, another ninja appeared from within the living room at the sound of the body falling.

John kept his grip on the bat as the ninja came forward, a sword in his hands. The ninja swung, and John parried with the bat. The force of the block stunned the ninja for a moment and John kicked him in the groin. The ninja grunted in pain and fell to his knees at the unexpected blow, his hands cupping the wounded area. John delivered a kick to the ninja's face, causing him to fall onto his back. Before the ninja could recover, John swung the bat at his face, caving it in with a wet thwack.

John laid the bat on the ground and picked up the ninja's sword. He tested it for a second to get a feel for it, then continued into the main part of the house. He heard a shuffling sound coming from within Elise's home office. He walked over and peeked into the door. John spotted one of the ninjas looking through the drawers. He entered the room and snuck up behind the ninja. The ninja heard John coming up behind him, but he was too slow as John impaled him with the sword. The blade slid into the ninja's stomachand appeared out his back, slick with blood. John raised his foot and kicked the ninja off the sword.

Next, John walked up the stairs to the next floor. He saw the last ninja in the hallway, standing next to the leader who was trying to cut down the door with the chainsaw. The sound of the powertool masked the sound of John approaching, so the last ninja never heard John walk up to them and raise the sword, swinging it at his neck and beheading him. The body of the ninja fell forward into the leader and he saw John getting ready to swing at him. He backed away from the sword blow and then held the chainsaw in front of him to attack John. He swung the chainsaw back and forth, keeping John backing up. As John approached the top of the stairs, he saw Elise come out of the bathroom with a wrench. She held it up and hit the man in the back of the head, instantly knocking him out. John stabbed the leader through the heart with the sword and felt it run through to the floor beneath him. He then looked up as Elise hugged him tightly. "What the hell is going on here, John?"

Dave

Dave told the door repairman to hold on a second and turned to face Sam. "I'll pay for the door and a few extras." He pulled out a wad of money and handed her six hundred dollars. "I will be back before nightfall.” He said and walked out of the house. He strolled over to his car and drove off.

He pulled in to and local gun shop and stepped inside. Dave walked over to the display case and waited for a salesman. A man walked up to him wearing a name tag that read Lee. “Hi, I need a big gun. Maybe two.” Dave said not in the mood to look around.

“Well I got a few rifles that can do a lot of damage.” Lee said with a smile on his face. “But, they’re not exactly legal and one runs about two grand.”

“Shit” Dave said “I only got eight hundred, thanks anyway.” He said and made his way outside. He hoped in his car and sped off.

On the way back to Sam’s house he stopped by a hardware store. He was looking for a weapon and found something that would do, a fire axe. It was big but it was easy for him to swing. He paid for it and left. He put the axe in his trunk and drove home. When he got home he grabbed the axe and ran inside. He snatched the gun off the table and went to his closet. He put on some black pants and a plain black shirt. He took a duffle bag out from under the bed and placed the gun and axe inside and walked out of the house.

He walked over to Sam’s house and noticed the door was fixed. “I wonder what else she got.”

Samantha

"I'll pay for the door and a few extras. I will be back before nightfall.”

Dave handed her some cash and left.

While she waited for the repairman to finish the door she changed out of the karate training outfit and put on some jeans and a tank top. She was still shaken up about the arrow flying into the house with the bloody note attached. Having the door fixed would make her feel a little safer though.

Once the guy finished and she paid him she put Cougar in his carrier and took him to the groomer. After paying for the door she was still left with about $450 and she wasn't sure what Dave wanted her to get. She didn't want to spend all of his money but she figured she might as well get some useful stuff in case someone really did try to attack her or Dave.

She ended up going to a few different stores but was pretty happy with what she got. She had found some wireless door alarms and got a few of those, as well as some for the windows that would go off if someone broke them or opened them. She also got an air taser.
Samantha picked up Cougar and headed home with her purchases. It wasn't long before there was a knock at the door. She didn't want to open it unless she know who it was so she moved to one of the living room windows and looked out. Once Samantha saw that it was Dave she unlocked the door and let him in. He had changed and was carrying a duffel bag.
She led him into the kitchen where she had laid out the stuff she bought and handed him the cash left over.
"I didn't spend too much, the taser was the only really expensive thing I got. The rest of this stuff is just alarms for the doors and windows. I wasn't sure exactly what you wanted me to get. So what's in the bag?"

Updates to current players on the new day.

John and wife manages survive the night. The man of the house displayed hitting that would easily make him a rookie in the American league. The wife on her part brought down one attacked and you find yourselves the next morning with a few more swords and a your power tool returned to you though not the method you thought. Elise being the good wife has already thrown the bodies out with the trash.

The local P.D. is still on the seen with no less then five cruisers parked out front. They are perfectly willing though to leave you with at least a pair of the swords. They don't seem to mind so much when citizens protect themselves.

They do mention they were busy most of the night. The cemetry was vandalized, the library broken into and more then a few missing coeds from the local college. The force is stretched pretty thin and the officers there do look fairly tired and eagerly take Elise's freshly made coffee. They also locate those donuts you hid in preparation for you diet.

You survived the night......maybe digging in for the day wouldn't be such a bad idea.

You notice as you see the officers out that the old house is busy again. Now three trucks. From Rent and Haul are parked out front unloading boxes.

The love birds.....(oops armed neighbors)

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

Dave and Samantha...

have started to dig in at Samatha's place. The new alarms are installed and up and running. You notice the unloading trucks but this time the boxes are unmarked. The local news is filled with reports of missing girls and black candles burning all over the college campus. The library is missing a whole section of research materials is missing. Cougar naps with you on the couch as you prepare your new gear. The hosue is ready as it can be.....considering you you don't know what to expect. The air taser seems easy enough to use since you can't test it out.

Your visitor now seems to want to be a house guest.

Dave you notice on the way out of the gun shop a sigh says that cash only. You do notice many racks of rifles behind the counters secured in heavy duty plastic lock boxes. The front window also has bars on it and steel security bars abound. The ususal redneck and militia crowd doesn't seem to notice you but they seem to be buying everything in bulk. They are talking about the end of days though which doesn't sound to odd from this crowd.

On the drive home though notice a house where a bunch of college girls threw a great BBQ a few weeks back....the place looks trashed and deserted expect for police officers walking about and red pentagrams being painted on all the doors.

You make it home and over to Sam's with no problem though.

Don't waste the day people....
