Texas Electricity.

But I'll bet the voters won't do diddly come November or whenever the state elections are.

What storms do is not political.
True. What utilities do for post-storm remediation IS political, however.

Hospitals get first priority by law, which most folks would consider a good thing...but they seldom need assistance, as virtually all hospitals have redundant power circuits (major liability insurance savings).

There appears to be a great deal of confusion over who gets the next highest priority for power recovery. Many folks say it is neighborhoods who had the highest vote total for Greg Abbott, while others say it is the corporations who ponied up the most money for Greg Abbott.

In any event, just about everyone agrees that neighborhoods with the highest concentration of minorities get the absolute lowest priority. Utility companies claim it is because they are older and lack the underground power conduits of newer (post-1990) neighborhoods.

You'd like to *THINK* that Texas has a better power grid than Puerto Rico, wouldn't you?
Ohhhh send the Criminal in Chief down to Texas to toss out paper towels. He likes doing that. He can have his logo on them.

no no no....if disasters like Hurricane Harvey/Texas Freeze 2022/Derecho 2024 and most recently Hurricane Beryl have all showed us one thing, it was that Toilet Paper is teh "coin of the realm" down here in the Lone Star State.

Billy Bob and his fellow ammosexual prepper boys had bunkers full of Dinty Moore Beef Stew, but ran out of toilet paper on the third day after Harvey finally left. Panic in the toilets.

So used rolled up DJT contracts from the Taj Mahal? That’s about all they were good for. Gotcha. Plenty of that, to cover many disasters.

All those common, blue collar workers got screwed royally…

i am sure the elderly and babies on ventilators agree with you.

what the hell happened to you people? it used to be that we had philosophical differences but trump has just killed your brains.
The party of state sponsored genocide and systematic elderly death panels trying to claim the moral high road on anything!

Ahahahahaha trying to spin your TDS!

Churchill had you covered with the "have no brains" clause!

that lie was exposed years ago rumpelstiltskin.

project 2025 will be the closest we get to death panels.
A bit jarring to see him attempt to resurrect "death panels", something that was categorically refudiated over a decade ago.

These guys just can't seem to let go of Obamacare, although their bleatings get fainter with each passing year.

Gotta go back to the greatest hits… they don’t have any actual policy to discuss- just all the misinformation they are fed routinely to keep them confused and angry at the wrong folks.

the hypocrisy of them railing against it while it's keeping most of them alive is crazy.

if they're alive in 5 years, they will regret their choice to vote against their own interests.

Just got the "Butcher's Bill" from my local power company...they have finished clearing 6,000+ downed trees atop power lines in the metro Houston area. That's a lot of trees! They have deployed 16 massive temporary generators (usually used as a last ditch effort to keep hospitals running) to power smaller subdivisions (!!!!!) that they have been unable to restore power to.

I wish Houston public works was this efficient. About one out of every four traffic lights is still completely dead (no blinking red, etc). I live two miles away from one of the most heavily trafficked intersections in Houston that has been dead since Monday and the automobile backups are massive. I do see it appears that public works has set up some sort of command post in a shopping center at one corner of the intersection, but geez, five days and nights to fix a light?

EDIT:
Great moment in television news today...the CEO of Centerpoint Energy (the main Houston electric company) stood in front of a bank of television cameras urging the general public to set your thermostat to 76.
One problem: The electronic thermostat CLEARLY VISIBLE over his left shoulder showed his office at a comfy 70 degrees.

So tonight we find out that Texas Acting Governor Dan Patrick (Rush Limbaugh's godson) waited until Thursday (four days after Hurricane Beryl left the state) to ask the federal government to declare south Texas a federal disaster area.

Wait a minute, you might say, why does Texas have an "acting governor" right now? Whar is Governor Greg (Hotwheels Hitler) Abbott? Did Abbott go to Cancun Cruz's condo?

No, Greg Abbott showed his Texas Tuffness by deserting Texas hours before Hurricane Beryl hit the coastline. He's in Taiwan on a "bidness trip", but he'll be back in town on Sunday!

Will Texas ever wake the fuck up and vote blue???

Even if it’s just to say fuck you to the Texas establishment that has failed the state and its citizens so miserably???

🤔

Churchill would have fought the current MAGAt party on the beaches, on the landing grounds, in the fields, the streets and in the hills.

If Trump had been referencing Churchill’s famous speech, he would have been sure to include the British fighting the Germans on the spaceports…

😑

🤣

Republicans are diligently completing their work to drag Texas down to third world status, joining other red states like Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana and West Virginia.

“Red is for poverty” ought to be their new slogan. 😆

The state of Texas is basically in the thrall of two billionaires who have their own agenda for Texas: cripple public education, prevent minorities from voting and stopping abortion (in that order). One billionaire spent 100K per race on COUNTY seats where there was on average 16,000 voters in the district, trying to oust legislators who have tried to prevent tax dollars being funneled to "Christian" schools. People in Texas are overwhelmingly against this, not for altruistic reasons or love of children, but because it dilutes funding of Texas high school football, which is moar popular than Jesus in Texas.

The four metroplexes in Texas are rapidly turning blue (Houston, San Antonio, Austin and lately Dallas) but it's counterbalanced by the sheer number of cousinfuckers in the red wasteland counties of Texas.

The supreme irony is Californians are flocking to Dallas, which has big city amenities they are used to having, and voting blue, which is squeezing out the biggest single block of red voters in Texas.

I hope government gets in gear out there. People need electricity for AC to survive now. What a cluster fuck.

One of my favorite YouTube channels was a guy who does repairs and reviews of vintage computer stuff. He showed himself putting together a uninterruptible power side for solar cells and batteries. Spending nearly $10,000, for a few dollars a year they could put together a better grid system in Texas. But like most Texans he's quite selfish and only thinks of himself and not the Greater Community around him.

There is also a thing known as a keyboard where you type words.
