Offhand, no. My guess is they were on the studio payroll as salaried
talent, much like most of the actors/actresses in Hollywood's golden era; talented enough to make a decent, steady living, but lacking that spark which made a talented individual a true star.

Still, studio musicians are among the most talented you'll ever hear. I watched a film on CNN about Glen Campbell the other night. He started out playing on just about every session there was in the 60s; then, even with advanced Alzheimers, he was tearing up the guitar just a couple of years ago.

I agree.
However, I'll point out there are different kinds of talent, particularly when it comes to music.
Studio musicians are usually very skilled technicians; give them a score and they'll play it, spot on, exactly as you want them to play it.

But that is not the same sort of talent as being able to create music, especially the kind of music that goes total earworm.

Some people. like Glen Campbell, have the ability to be both, but that's pretty damn rare, and more's the pity.
