*goes to google San Jacinto Day*

ssshhhh... :)

I have only lived in Texas most of my life and I'm not sure I've heard of this?

Seriously?
"San Jacinto Day is the celebration of the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. It was the final battle of the Texas Revolution where Texas won its independence from Mexico.

It is an official holiday in the State of Texas. "

How come I had to work today then? ;)
You did?????
:D

Did the Easter Bunny visit you and the sweeties yesterday?
Yep, left a pretty fun basket for the oldest sweetie and a nice little carrier toy for the youngest.. not that he's into that kind of thing yet. :)

How was your Easter?

Quiet - came home Saturday from vacation and didn't leave the house again until this morning. I got some plants potted and out on the patio just in time for the rain to water them. Exciting!

And I've only been here three years but now I know also! Thank you Sweetie for the knowledge! :rose:

I feel like a scratch and dent model these days...

I even wash dishes and do the laundry... :D
funny man :p

I'm finally moving to my own place in May.. You nut.. And I need a fridge, a washer and dryer.
Where I grew up...hell..when I grew up. . The appliance stores were almost all "mom and pop" places where they had a section of "seconds" so to speak.

*sigh* not really worried about the W/D... can get new for 300/each. The fridge worries me a bit though.

It's a good thing they last 20+ years. I can't believe what refrigerators cost these days.

Here is what I would do. Start at Sears and go the appliance department. Tell them you are trying to help out your sister who is divorced with three kids and need to find a cheap but good appliance. Then ask them if they have a scratch and dent service center. I bet the do. You can do the same at Frys or Best Buy. They have places full of them but they don't talk about them because they want you to buy an expensive non scratched one. It's like the little secret of house flippers to get appliances cheaper for houses they are just trying to flip or rent.

Good luck!

I just googled "scratch and dent Houston" and came up with several places including a Sears outlet. I know there's one on the North Freeway around Tidwell or Parker or somewhere. Good luck!

Thanks!. I googled, too. Got one off Hoover, just never been out and about around here very much. I'd rather not find myself in the barrio by myself, either. . Lol :p

I second the Sears Appliance Outlet or whatever they are calling it these days. I purchased mine there a few years ago. Got a fridge that was normally around $3000 for just under $1500. Granted that is probably more than you need but I wanted something very specific *French doors/freezer on bottom, etc*. But just wanted you to see the kind of deal you might be able to get. It had a small scratch on the side of it which didn't matter much since that side was to the wall anyway.

Good luck and congrats on your own place!
