Happy Tuesday!!! Off work again today - we go back Thursday. Slept okay. Waiting for the morning cat races. Getting some writing done and feeling all productive.

I hope that everyone will welcome the new year with kindness, love, and understanding. Knowing that we are all individuals with our own personal thoughts, feelings, and physical restraints. But also knowing that here is where you can share victories, losses, thoughts and feelings without being judged, or thought any less of for them. Knowing that individuals can stop in and share what's on there minds, and freely give and receive a different perspective, or help both physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Very seriously, running into you lot was one of the very few highest of points of 2024. I had thought this level of camaraderie on Lit was a Long Ago/Never Again kind of thing. I'm delighted to have been wrong. So, we know where we'll be for 2025 then.

I am a simple man at heart and, as an adolescent, 'knockers' was my preferred term, though I was also fond of 'melons.' As I 'matured' (?) I liked the wordplay terms 'bristols' and 'threepennies' (UK rhyming slang, Bristol City, a UK football club and threepenny bit, a UK pre-decimal coin). I am also amused by the UK military slang for a female officer - 'lumpy jumper'
I was maybe 3 or 4 when I first learned the term “titties”. It was in preschool, I remember that. Don’t ask me what I had for dinner last night… I cant remember that… but I can remember that I was a tiny tot when I learned that word.

Ah, the good ol daze! 😀

It's far from an original idea. These sock like things are sold for good money - but you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. Rice, corn, peas - you get the idea

Modern twist on heating stones in the fireplace and slipping them between the sheet and mattress at the foot of the bed to warm the bed in winter. Soapstone used a lot for this purpose, wrapped in rags to prevent burns from the hot stone.
There's a few places that still make/sell them... not sure what shipping would cost on something that heavy.
My son in law, former Marine, and medic, once told me to keep my torso warm and the rest will follow. So I wear vests. I will wear gloves and hats but focus on my torso.

All kidding aside. Thank you for that sentiment, OM. Very beautifully written.

This is a relay enjoyable thread and I’ve developed a kinship for each and every one of you.

i can hear my grandmother saying
He who finds fault, finds work.
Im an Imperfectionist who can enjoy a bit of dust n cat hair till my beloved Wonderer can’t.
By the way.. my theory on Magic eraser sponges is that you buy only six and work them till they disintegrate. They expect you to throw them out when they begin to break down and grab another one, Not me.. our kitchen is fab clean on Six n Wonderer is
Smiling. 😁
I have the house cleaners come in once a month to get the high and low dust bunnies. I can do most of the other daily cleaning. I am more tolerant than others of clutter until it bothers me.

I had a weird dream last night.

For some inexplicable reason, had just gone back into the reserves. My wife was livid.

It was time for my first weekend drill and I got sick with covid. I didn’t even know who the first sergeant was to call them and let them know I was sick.

Then I was on active duty at some military post id never been. Law and order had broken down and even the MPs were getting shot at. There were gunfights all over the post - total anarchy.

My wife and I had to get rid of trash and an old wheelbarrow. We finally found a dumpster in an area that wasn’t too chaotic, and when we started throwing away stuff there was another couple doing the exact same thing.

Then i was trying to help someone get to Texas. I told them to go on rt 31north and then get on rt 78 west from there.

That was a very vivid dream

My friends refer to things as k(my first name) clean.....

When I moved in my house all the neighbors said she was a clean freak..... she wasn't.

I am lucky as the only mess I have to clean up is the one I make.

I found the perfect place to get rid of crap. It is a thrift shore that is connected to an animal.shelter that is close-ish to me

I have too much stuff
