He does. He's not the horse his buddy was, but he is present, mostly. He's a bit goofy and injury-prone, so his riding days are done. His poodling days are in their prime. As long as he has apples.


I'd like to take him for walks, but Baby Poodle raises such a stink when another horse goes out and he doesn't. Of course, they don't care if he goes, but Baby Poodle isn't my thing, really. Last time, Baby's bellowing made Telly nervous and he got skittish, so back to the pasture we went.


The best part of the next horses will be, no connection to Baby Poodle. They won't give Proverbial Figs what he thinks or does.

Cats will not eat some things. They will refuse and starve themselves into liver failure. If one has several cats and everyone is happy with the food selection, then it gets left alone because all are eating.

I ask mine to take one small bite of anything I tnmake. If they don't like it they don't have to eat it. That's not to say that they don't ever have to try it again. They will try everything I make until they or I am not around anymore. Very few wins but any win keeps it worth while.

It's also taught them to taste their food. I always ask what I could do to help them like it. I give them seasoning and spice queues that seem to stick with them. Hopefully they will take an interest at some point but you can't want to cook if you don't like food.

I asked "was she pretty"

Mine would tell me wrong things. She'd get a notion and say it like it was so and I'd find out later it wasn't. Both parents, really. Like when they mispronounced "orgy" and I got laughed at at school and didn't know I should have worn the main perp out. It wasn't out of malice on their parts, but how could a child tell the difference?

I understand your situation with 80+ parents. I had to deal with my mother and then help raise 2 children.

Well, we found out the home care person had COVID. We asked them to stay out till we take Mom to the doctor and get her checked out. She was doing better but those last two days she spent in bed and not eating enough. Today will be better.

Yesterday I walked into her room and she asked me if I had seen those women that were just leaving. I asked her who they were and she pointed at the tv. QVC was on. I asked her if those were the women and she said yes, they just walked out. That's when I light bulb went off in her head and she shut down for a few minutes. She is putting off a doctor's visit. I think she suspects that I'm going to get her tested.

It's interesting around here for sure and I can't help but think the universe is keeping me here and unemployed. It shouldnt have taken this long to give me a start date. A week is just too long. I could have moved on to another company and been at orientation already. But then what would happen with Mom if I were already gone.

I am not as fortunate.
My oldest sister is disabled and my twin says she will help but when I rope her in I can't trust that she will..

Example:

Me--"van you go over (15 minutes away) and vacumn moms kitchen floor and tidy up... I will go over Wednesday and do the rest"

Her--"sure no problem"

I go Wednesday and do it all

He kind of is, but it's more a case of clueless selfishness than malevolence. Add to that he isn't the brightest poodle ever to have lived there, and that he manipulates other horses (except strong alphas - he ain't got shit for them) and you get some of his behavior patterns. He defies the landlady sometimes, and she gets out the crop. His eyes widen and he heels to. You'd think she beats him, but a tap is not even necessary most of the time.


We were in the barn doing something one day and he saw a ghost or something and bolted and ran out the door. I thought that peculiar. I deducted that he shouldn't have a back turned on him. He'd freak and run you over if. He'd be sorry you got run over but he'd draw nothing else from the occurrence.


He ain't no Calypso and he never will be.

My gripe or rant is about aging and its effects on the body. I have essential tremors and I can’t do fine motor things like electrical as I used to. I now am experiencing some normal short term memory loss and need young folks to slow their conversation down or text it to me. I will likely miss something. I now have aching hips and know it won’t be long before I have a hip operation. And I don’t want to be one of those folks who only talk about their operations etc. but I do need my adult children to understand I am going through this period and I find it frustrating.

You can vent here any time. My granddad use to say growing old ain't for the weak. As a clueless teenager I'd chuckle as I rolled my eyes. I'm only in my fifties and I'm learning that growing old is a lot of work. I hope you're able to communicate with your adult kids. 🫂

Yeah some horses are just to overwhelmed by their prey animal brain to have a lick of sense or self preservation

Yee-ahhh, best not to have your back turned. I've known a couple horses like that, not that I get to be around them much. Not mean, just spooky. That's a great description of their reaction to running one over. :D

Statin drugs are used to reduce cholesterol and other fats from the blood. You should let your provider know if you drink more than 2 alcoholic beverages per day, have liver or kidney disease, or thyroid problems. They're both well known statins. Atorvastatin, known by the trade name Lipitor, is a bit older and has had a good track record. Rosuvastatin, or Crestor, is a newer drug. They both will lower the LDL, or bad, cholesterol. HDL, or good, cholesterol can be increased with exercise.

Low dose aspirin has been used as a mild platelet inhibitor for years. Newer studies have shown little to no correlation with blood thinning. However, I have seen patients with stroke or heart attack helped by aspirin. I don't think it hurts to be on it and it might help.

Just try to remember, it is possible to "out-eat" your meds! They won't save you from a bad diet. There's a reason fast food is called "heart attack in a sack!"

Started the baby aspirin (now know as low dose🤣) regimen a couple or three days ago. The diet is pretty much on par. I’m watching what I eat more and more. Weeks at home are no problem. SWhoMBO has had us on organic, low fat, blah blah blah, for years. It’s just when I’m on the road those weeks, where it all falls apart. So half the year…good….half …bad🤷🏻‍♂️. Exercise? Same.

Thanks for the gouge on the Statins. I think I’m just going to have to have a come-to-Jesus moment and accept that I need to get on these things😭

Made a fantastic Skillet Taco Pie for the tribe last night. Swapped out the black beans for pinto’s (more Mex than Cuban) and added diced tomatoes & Hatch green chilies. Was a big hit and easy (which is what I was going for), oh and also swapped the Pablano, for two large Anaheim chilis.

Not a fan of the nursing side but love the chef side of taking care of my shut-in! 😂😂
