This is great advice, Wat!I have talked to this lot about this with my plantar fascism in my left foot. I was hating Life. I went to a (young) foot doctor and she was kindly and helpful but I think I got better advice here, and I did some thinking.
Hold on to your testicles . . . .
Freeze a bottle of water and roll it under your foot some. Ice packs are decent, too. The plantar and the Achilles both make things feel tight in your calfs. Best way to stretch those is on a stair, heels over the edge and down to pull the calfs. Make sure you hold onto the rail so as not to lose your balance. 2-3-4 minutes a day is quite helpful. I found some shoe inserts with more arch support to be helpful, too. Walmart has some stuff in the foot section at the pharmacy that helps, too, to keep a bit of pressure up on the plantar. It's all tied together.
Of this mixed bag of stuff, I think the stretching has been of the greatest benefit.
