The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

A friend of mine on FB posted a comment about regret and life. I found it sad. I have a different take on regrets: you have not lived, made decisions based on the information available at the time, and not have regrets.

To me, regrets are the past and lessons of life. Now let’s move on. Life is too short to do otherwise.

Did the cup break or bounce?😂. My mind goes to strange places.

I felt like throwing a boss or CEO out. One asked me to do something illegal on a federal grant. I said no but the could always do it anyway and go to jail too. I promised to visit them there 😂
When I went to tech school in the Air Force we had to pull two straight weeks of KP. They were long days. We practiced juggling and a lot of plates hit the floor. Some did bounce.

Good morning denizens of the diner. I do hate autocorrect.

I had a busy fun day especially in afternoon and evening with friends playing board games. One had a visitor from the UK. She was funny and the teasing with h her cousin was better than any game.

Time to get coffee and memes. Get well Lili and travel safe OM.
Sounds like a great day!!

Announcement:
Soup Season is Here!!

Tried making a simple Mushroom Barley soup tonight. A broth soup, not cream. I don't always play well with dairy and don't need the extra calories... even though that Creamy Mushroom Soup recipe from @HumpDayHoratio has me all 🤤 😋

And I haven't forgotten the Bean and Barley Recipe from @B2fromA2looking4U. I've got the ingredients for that one all ready, too.

Welp - fucked up the roux
That sent me off on a hunt.
A hunt for an even simpler Mushroom and Barley Soup recipe than the one I had found and botched.

I'm pivoting with the veg I already cooked tonight. Will use my frozen shitaake broth with them.

But my next soup adventure?
This sounds perfect...
Slow Cooker Mushroom Barley Stew

If the info in the post is true, this motherfucker can cook itself while I do my other PT.

Now that's a recipe I can get behind!!

ETA: a link to the soup recipe I botched tonight
Ohhhhhhh, that looks good! Gonna have to try this next time. Love me some Shroom soup/stew! Just as it cooled off, it’s now warmed back up…although it’s going to get down around freezing on Monday I think.

My gas man wouldn’t fill my 100lb tanks a couple weeks ago…can’t remember if I relayed this message or not. The cylinders are from the 90’s and they’re only supposed to have a 12 yrs life. So the tech wouldn’t fill. He said he’d be liable if it failed (I’d had one do that years ago) so I understood…it was time for an upgrade anyway.

Shop around and couldn’t get a better deal than $700+, so end up calling the new company that took over for the Good Ol’ Boy shop we used. They hear me out and said they’d swap them out for free! Sweeeet! Bad news…can’t get them till the week of Thanksgiving…

Oh, it shattered. Lots of shards. Lots of noise in an enclosed office in the interior of a concrete-n-steel building. The woman down the hall said it sounded like a gunshot. I think that was dramatic on her part.

It was a dark period in my life, but dawn arrived a few months later.

I have a few regrets of opportunities lost from years past. Then I count up the things I have been gifted with to experience. Odds are, I'm ahead if anyone is keeping score.

It's so much easier not to.

Truth!

I’d be lying if I said, I didn’t have any regrets. But they are a few and I’ve come to terms with the decision decisions I’ve made in my life.

It’s been a busy week on the hill but great to have a full team out. Wednesday was pouring rain all day and despite two layers of waterproofs I was still bloody cold. Stopping for lunch meant we chilled up while we waited.

Other than that it has been community stuff getting ready for our Remembrance Sunday events and other community stuff

At least next week will be quieter

Look at those beautiful boys!
Sorry you were chilled. Sounds like a great day otherwise.
